You know, an Alfred origin story is kind of a neat idea. Especially with all the various incarnations of Alfred you can hijack stories from. It's one of the few prequel character stories that can really work on its own without relying on what comes after to really sell it.

Show him as an actor, a soldier, take on the backstory from Nolan's Alfred about working with greenpeace type groups around the world in war zones. That'd be a smart way to introduce Thomas Wayne to his story. Have him be a doctor Alfred works with in a war zone doctors without borders scenario and build the relationship from there. Maybe throw in the Alfred grew up with young Thomas when his father worked for Wayne's father, so there's a revisited connection there. Just avoid bringing in any Bat-villains or other comic stuff and just show the story of how Alfred ends up with as much crazy training and adventures as he does by the time he starts working for Bruce Wayne.

If you want to go the CW route, you could always introduce Martha Kane and have Alfred and Thomas be in a love triangle with her too, just to add shake up to the mythos all origin shows need to have for some reason.

You can have a couple of bat villains but nothing major. Carmine Falcone for example could be used for Gotham scenes and more just a background character. Things that aren't tied to just Batman. Like you can have David Cain in the story. Have him working as a merc and he ends up working with Alfred.

...What makes this amusing is that going by the TTGo movie promos, what drives the characters nuts is that freaking ALFRED gets a major showcase before they do.

So essentially, a joke in a cartoon has more or less just become fact.

But. Why.

Is Gotham good? Is Krypton good? I like origin stories but I’m not even going to try to watch a show about characters I don’t even care about based on characters that are characters that interact with characters I do like. My show list is too long to add a show about Richard Gotham, the founder of Gotham in 1763 as he battles Reginald Joker and Fredrick CatLady

Also can we cool it on calling things “retarded”. This thread read like a middle school playground.

Yes Gotham is good but you have to accept certain aspects of Batman people don't want to like the campy aspects the show does well but can be a turn off when it is trying to also present a series cop drama. Krypton was amazing so good that is one of the few shows my wife watches live. She loves it. Next is the final for Krypton and the way they told the story is so much fun.

I've heard "Krypton" is brilliant. I haven't been able to catch any of it (for various reasons), but surely there'll be a DVD release forthcoming.

Oh my god. That's disgusting.

Let's not explore that plot thread. Thank you.

Makes sense that they're doing this, I guess.

In Gotham, they touched on Alfred's former life as a spy before he met Thomas and Martha and became the Wayne butler. This show will probably show a lot of that and not a lot to do with Batman's future enemies like Gotham is doing. It says he befriends Martha so it shows their life before Bruce is born like how Krypton is showing life leading up to the birth of baby Kal-El.

That was actually pretty funny. I do really enjoy Gotham though and I don't even know if I'm interested in this.
