I kinda got to agree with this. We can watch seasons like Time Force or SPD or RPM and find good things but show them to someone who doesn't care it won't change their view of the series. They'll still just see cheap effects and recycled footage only.

Power Rangers will never be popular outside of our niche and I really think it's time people accepted that.
I’ve actually shown the first few episodes of RPM to people who don’t like Power Rangers. They enjoyed it.

I'd call that an exemption. As much as I love RPM it's not what I'd call a traditional season. Yeah there's still rubber Monsters and spandex and all that but it's so vastly different from anything before or after it that I honestly never think of it as a first season to show non-fans because they probably wouldn't have the same reaction to say Time Force.

What? Turn back time and then run away after losing for a fourth time and then Zedd and Rita destroyed the Power Coins?
That was Billy's fault. Didn't he think they could be attacked? Should've done the age restoring thing at the Command Center. I bet Vile never thought that opportunity would come up.

I do think people would watch - maybe not become "fans" to the point where they'd buy toys or start watching Beast Morphers or anything like that- a well written movie* or animated Netflix/Amazon series that was aimed at a slightly older audience** if it existed, but within the actual Sentai adapatation, this is completely correct. It's bad TV that we love anyway and there's nothing wrong with that.

(* The 2017 movie was written well enough but screwed up the nostalgia attempts in a big way)

(** When I say slightly older audience, think what Boom has done... as opposed to jokes about pleasuring a cow)
Oh for crying out loud, it was one quick joke in the beginning of the movie, people get so hung up over one stupid joke as if it happened throughout the film.

EDIT:
But as for the comics, yeah they appeal better for the older fans in ways than the show does. Though to be fair some of it has to do with cutting out the commercialism. Instead of a show that worries about tossing in toys and gimmicks, it treats it just like a regular show; story, characters, etc etc. And in doing so, also cuts the fluff. There're some random monster battles but generally they serve some kind of purpose to the story being told. So you still get some monster battling, but you're also getting a story instead of a dozen or more rinse and repeat MoTW episodes. It all makes for a different flow and the better qualities of PR can shine which appeals to us older people. And in general with readers. Cause I mean, how horrible would it be if we went through issue after issue of them just fighting random monsters and learning not to lie?

So thinking on the sorts of adventures the Omega team could be getting up to in space:

Obviously they could meet the Aquitians, or the Phantom Ranger, but that doesn’t interest me much.

They could team up with Trey, which would interest me a lot. Developing a relationship between him and Jason long before Jason inherits his powers would be neat.

They could team up with Andros and Zhane, which I would love just ‘cause. Be cool to establish what exactly they were doing during their time together.

Similarly, they could bump into young Astronema and Ecliptor.

And if, as others have suggested, the Necessary Evil is the Omegas working with Drakkon toward some end, I’m predicting that Solar Pink will join them too, initially being astounded that they would work with him, then insisting she join to keep an eye on him. It’d be fitting because they’d then have polar opposites (a light- and dark-themed ranger, sort of an angel and a devil) in the team, and they’d have most of the original team in some form (missing an alt-Billy, but hey).

I would go with them meeting Trey and thus also confronting an arm of the Machine Empire. That sounds interesting to me. Though maybe Ecliptor, or Andros and Zhane.

Man, you made a good point. If the tv show was like the comics, there would be a lot more fans. However, that's just wishful thinking.

Ooo, I’d love if they fought Gasket and Archerina.

I’m predicting their big mission is either in opposition to Vile or Dark Spector. Or someone new, I guess. Or the Praetor?

If I may engage in a bit of speculation about the whole Drakkon thing:

I think it's a safe assumption to make that Drakkon never escaped Promethian custody. Either he's still there or he was killed by Saba, though the latter seems unlikely. As for the Drakkon on that one cover attacking with the spirit animals? I think that may be some remnant of the original Drakkon. Like a ghost in the machine or something like that.

Same, my friend loved RPM and generally isn't interested in PR.

Go Go speculation
That's unlikely. It ignores Drakkon's choice to remain in his dying universe and would be a bad direction for both character and story. From the perspective of the Rangers, Drakkon probably just vanished from the rewritten timeline without explanation at some point.

And in an arc about characters remembering what happened in Shattered Grid, with a cover depicting things from Shattered Grid, Drakkon's upcoming appearance is probably a flashback to Shattered Grid.

The Insta covers are by far my favorite. Love the usernames they came up with.

Thoughts:

- I realize they had to kick Tommy out, story-wise, but I felt the whole "I'm jealous and have to leave now bye screw you Kim" came off a little bit forced. Not a lot, but it definitely had a rushed vibe.
To be fair, it was more rushed in the show where he basically just disappeared till they needed him and came up with the story that he was away. It only really felt rushed to me in the sense that the story starts at the end, with him being done as Green Ranger. But at the same time you can reasonably assume when it gets to the Juice Bar and the rangers all leave to go kick butt, then Tommy is left behind, etc etc, that a little time has passed. Maybe a couple weeks, but it's still some time. It's not like he has his 'I'm Green Ranger no more." moment and then the next day decided he was jealous of not being a ranger, and all that.

So while we don't have hard dates, it's not really necessary. At least a little time has passed with him being depowered, enough that it's reasonable for him to be experiencing the feelings he his about it, and then act. Or really, you could assume Tommy already had this plan in mind and that last moment with them running off was kind of it for him and he decided to follow through. But it makes sense.

I also liked that they tried(or well Billy tried) different ways to repower the green coin. It was a nice detail that sadly the show just couldn't afford to explore even briefly, but makes it a nice touch here.

I wonder if the actions of the Omega rangers could be the reason the likes of the Machine empire and Divatox etc target earth? Or at least bring attention to earth? Maybe even Dark Spector himself goes after it after the Omega Rangers interfere in his plans.

Would be amusing. The Omega Rangers save the day, screw over the bad guys' plans. Only to see them plotting their sights on Earth implying the trio caused a future mess. Yeah, I'd go for it.

How is the comic overall, for those who kept up with it? I stopped at the start of shattered grid, because it felt a bit overloaded and leaned back into a lot of Tommy stuff.

And while there is a lot of cool stuff that I've seen come out, I can't help but look at it all and be like... this is so bloated for not even 50 issues into a series. Maybe it's just me, but even the american exclusive Rangers, the Solar Ranger team or whatever they're called, and now the Omega Rangers... yes they're cool looking, but they seem to really stick out from what a traditional Ranger suit is... just overly complicated. Was the company that usually designs stuff for Toei (forget their name) consulted at all? Cause it really doesn't seem like it.

In the end, I feel the comic series really started out strong, and now is just... burning through so much content that when they make it into the triple digits (if they do) issue wise, what are we going to have left to surprise us?
