Ok I wasn’t trying to start anything.

That’s not what I meant. I was referencing Siskle and Ebert and how I miss their discussions but at the same time the simplicity of thumbs up/ thumbs down. Perhaps I should have been more clear. Just being nostalgic..

Imo people regardless of the website are the reason for toxicity on the internet not like/dislike thumbs up/down. I understand how RT works and I still think it is a waste for people to put so much value in it.

I like André the “Black Nerd” and his style of reviews. Like Aquaman was a good example.

Does anyone have specific movie critics they listen too?
Jeremy Jahn > all.

Never peeped one Black Nerd vid, don't plan to.

The same critics that heaped praise on Force Awakens, a carbon copy of previous Star Wars films, seem to dump on Marvel every time they have the audacity to tell an origins story for "not being original enough".
And yet the Marvel movies are still making an absurd amount of bank with every new film, so here we are.

I say that as someone who didn't much care for "Homecoming" or "Doctor Strange", when Marvel did deviate slightly from the norm.

No, you're saying compete with them. You said because they make so many videos on the same topics and thus is what everyone sees the only answer is to make as many videos as them so the balance of what is recommended is more even.

Again... 18 videos in 14 days from one person. It's incredibly easier to be hateful and toxic than it is to be positive. And unsurprisingly, gains far more views. Nostalgia Critic and AVGN didn't gain their following by offering the real critique in the last minute of their videos, they got it because of their anger.
If you want to make 18+ videos in 14 days be my guest. Or you could give quality over quantity and make a solid video as your counter to all the other videos.

Details on how the movie pays tribute to Stan.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...153113422.html

All of his cameos in the Marvel Studios intro, ending with "Thank you, Stan."

Got back from a 7 showing. I liked it.

It wasn't groundbreaking for the MCU, but it fit well. It expands on the aliens of the MCU. Nick Fury's eye is explained, and a scene to explain again what happened further with it. Won't give it away, but it does not break continuity. I loved all of the characters, and did a nice job of setting up Endgame, without taking a lot of hype out, or giving too much hype. It is a movie about Carol Danvers. That's what it accomplishes.

That's what I keep hearing. People are saying it's a good movie but pretty unremarkable as far as things go. I'm probably gonna go see it tomorrow.

Didn’t care for the third act

Once Carol got her powers it was just an automatic win button and there wasn’t any tension.

Overall what I expected, just an average mcu movie

Just saw it.

I agree that it's not hugely ground-breaking, story-wise, but I still really liked it.

So many 90s jokes. For those of us who were kids and teens in the 90s ... which I imagine is a rather large percentage of the audience ... you'll get the humour quite well.

I thought the supporting cast was great, so even if Carol left you cold, there was plenty of entertaining stuff going on. Talos stole every scene he was in, which I was not expecting at all. The best part was when someone asked him whether he could turn into inorganic objects.

"Why would I want to turn into a filing cabinet?"
"I will give you fifty dollars right now if you turn into a venus fly trap!"

I also really liked how they handled the Skrulls. You know, for the first hour of the film, when the audience is getting used to the idea of the Skrulls ... there's some brilliant little twists and swerves, and the tension is great. They could be anyone.

I did like the way they crystalised the character of Carol Danvers. Yeah, there's a couple of places where Brie's a little flat, but no worse than Doctor Strange, and ultimately, she's a determined smart-ass. That, I can get onboard with.

I also really liked how well they integrated the story into the wider context of the MCU --- more specifically, how some parts of it fit together --- but they also did a great job of really explaining why Captain Marvel is going to be a big part of the battle against Thanos.

The woman's essentially a walking Infinity Stone. She got her abilities by absorbing a fraction of infinite power, but a fraction of that is still a lot.

Oh yeah, and lots of jokes about Nick Fury's eye.

It was far from the best MCU movie but still a great movie in its own right. I really enjoyed it and didn't really find a lot of fault in it. Though if I had just one nit-pick....

It's that they forgot SHIELD didn't stop going by its full name until the first Iron Man

Other than that, this film was pretty damn solid. They did a great job making me like Captain Marvel again after Civil War II (God, I hope the MCU doesn't touch that story) kinda ruined the character for me.

So I don't have to worry about any SJW business and male-bashing whenever I see this movie, and Captain Marvel isn't really a Mary Sue?

That wasn't my intent. I'm still interested in seeing this movie regardless of all the crap other people are giving it, and I guess I was a little concerned. So maybe things are all right.

To be fair, if Carol's gonna help turn the tide against the Infinity Stone-wielding Thanos, she's kinda gotta be stupidly powerful.
