I like Nate's character but it still feels WAY too early to be bringing in the other Rangers.

we've BARELY gotten to know the main cast. The episode just before this one demonstrated how much the writers have utterly failed at characterization for the Beast Bots...

They thought the Commander would be mad that they lost the tracker - GB property.
It's a little silly that they didn't realise they could use the tracker on the truck though, even for them.

It's B&B. I took it as they were worried Shaw would be mad they lost a piece of tech, not registering that they'd then be able to track it.

IMO worst new Ranger debut in PR history, Steel has a generic robot voice, the explanation for Steel Morphing is Lame
What kinda explanation do you want? I mean, he's a robot but because he ended up with some of Nate's DNA in his system it allowed the gate to bond the animal DNA, thus allowing morphing, like the other four rangers. It's a perfectly fine explanation. Otherwise what, Nate would just say he built the robot so he could morph, without any explanation whatsoever? Would that be better?

I'll join the bandwagon, what don't you like about Nate that makes you think he's such a bad ranger?

I was going to give the opening Ben and Betty scene a pass, because I've probably been too harsh on them in the last few episodes ... but then a character copped a liquid to the face (from an ice-cream vending machine in the middle of the Grid Battleforce base?). No. Bad writers. Go to your rooms. No pay-cheques for you this week.

Wow, we got this season's "creepy spider episode" out of the way early. The praying mantis thing just makes me grind my teeth. I feel like, the decision was made because a rhino beetle is too obscure for the kids at home, but everyone knows what a mantis is, right? I can't think of any other reason. If kids don't know what a rhino beetle is, then all you have to do is tell them. Hey, you get to educate your audience without being condescending.

Given how quickly he scanned the scarab beetle? They really could've stayed there with him. I mean, that was less than ten seconds.

Weren't those barrels full of Morph-X? Way to go, vacuum monster.

So Devon and Zoey get to use their zords to search for Nate, while Ravi's just driving in a random 4WD? Coolios.

Wait, so, Ben and Betty knew the truck (that the tracker had inadvertently fallen into) was being driven by one of their enemies, but it still never twigged, in them, to use the tracker to, y'know, track them? I can't even, with these characters. Like, why?

See, that is a quick morph! That's exactly what they should be doing all the time!

I'm liking the scene of Evox escaping the cyber-realm, but the scene would have so much more punch if Evox had actually mattered once in the last 6 episodes, or was anything other than a plot device.

"The mantis DNA worked!" Was anyone else really hoping we'd get a shot of a roaring praying mantis, just like the other three? That would've been great! Biologically incorrect, sure, but great.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting Gold and Silver in the one episode. Maybe I should've, but I didn't watch GoBusters.

"Good job."
"Obviously!"

Hmm. There's hope for this guy yet.

The scientific techno-babble about how Steel is part human, part animal, part robot almost broke my computer. Let's just never do that again.

So, that was the last one before the hiatus? It was probably one of the stronger episodes, and it was a good note to end on. I liked Nate and Steel as Rangers more than I thought I would, but there's still problems there. I don't think the storyline was too rushed (given how they'd been building to it for a little while now). But, look at last year. Levi and the Gold Ranger showed up pretty early, and that was fine because we had some idea of who the other characters were, by that point (the dull leader, the magic nerd, the brainy one, the common sense girl with the dog, and the mechanic). The archetypes were paper-thin, but at least they were there. Now? We're getting two more, and we don't really have a lock on the three we already had. Who are these people? Zoey's the ... optomistic one? Devon is occasionally douchey? Ravi is the real head-scratcher. I can't think of anything to him beyond Nepotism In Action. Nate has a solid personality, and even Steel has a presence, but it just makes the other three seem even weaker in comparison.

Having said that, Steel was pretty funny, and the over-arcing plots all advanced, so I'll give them points for that.

But it's still not a frickin' mantis.

Not all the barrels would've been filled. They had them there /to/ fill, but since they were interrupted, he threw a couple empty ones. Not a big deal.

They were all searching from different persepectives. Zoey got the air, Devon was covering ground in the zord, and Ravi got a little more of the "street level" searching than rolling along in his zord as well.

Something I forgot to mention earlier, you know with them constantly showing up wearing orange and purple it keeps making me want Hasbro to make B&B original rangers down the road. I mean sure, it might not make sense but I can't help it when they do that. Like maybe Purple Hippo, or Orange Puma. Though realistically if we were to get an original ranger I'd go with Green for the Frog zord. Anyway, just random.

Ok, I can't tell if that cheetah face is getting more wire frame or not. But now it's just Devon not changing his clothes. Which honestly, makes him the most gamer character of them all.

Evil Roxy is hilarious. "Oh that's nate, he's tiny, we'll capture him easily". That's just a great performance there.

Ok, that's on the rangers. They knew Nate was out there and left him alone. Even if he went straight home, he was still highly at risk. Why didn't they have someone run out to escort him home? A beast bot or GB armed drivers, or hell Ben and Betty. That's just the rangers being negligent.

Man, this may be the most efficient monster yet. He's perfectly designed to steal Morph X, yet I suspect that's not how the Go-Buster counterpart worked.

Ben and Betty halfwit their way into geotagging the truck? I really don't know how I feel about that. On one hand it gives them a function and purpose for being there. On the other, it is them and done as a random act of comedy. I think both hands cancel each other out.

"Welcome to your new lab" which is clearly the hangar set redecorated with different lighting.

I like that Nate is quick thinking enough to turn up the scared kid act to outwit the Avatars. But damn, Roxy is mean. I do like the juxtaposition of Bad Yellow being just cruel to him and Good Yellow being his crush though.

Yay, return of the quick morphs.

Steel's voice was unexpected. But I do love the "How are they beating us?" "With flair!" Line.

Mr. Fantastic Super Handsome Strong as Steel, or Steel for short. Yeah, that's going in the wiki exactly like that. That is his full name, everyone heard them say "Steel for short". I approve of this absurdity.

I figured Steel would get human DNA mixed in to be morphable, I'm glad they took the time to explain that out instead of just lumping it into "Why not" or "There's a good reason for that" territory. I was kind of expecting a last minute tease about if Evox left any code in Steel or not before getting returned to the Cyber Dimension. I suppose that could still happen though.

Overall an ok episode for introducing the new rangers. Kinda sped up in pace just to get things moving but in a good way.

Totally approve. Also glad someone else loved that "With flair!" line as well, cause it was great.

I can't remember exactly, but I feel like there was an episode of Go-Busters where J got controlled or something and went haywire, was bad, something like that. Maybe I'm wrong, but when it got to the end and Scrozzle was talking about still trying to get Steel, I wasn't surprised. Figured if there was such an episode they'll likely use some of that for it. Either way, could be interesting.

Not a bad episode.

There may be flak online about Nate being small and stuff but I liked how he fought in the episode, he jumped around a bunch and shot a gun. Which is pretty accurate for a small kid who is generally on the weaker side physically. Is it also me, but does the costume look smaller than normal too? That would be a nice adjustment to match the actor unlike Turbo Justin growth happening every morph.

And Steel is funny and will be interesting to see more of going forward.

I'm not exactly sure how Evox being transferred into a robotic body generates the same energy needed to create a power ranger but I'm okay not fully understanding that.

He's THE DOG among the dogs. Our hero deserves to be called by his name.

" The Cybergate Opens "

The Opening scene with Ben and Betty sensor with later was used for they follow the signal was really well done, since works, and they find Nate because of them, nice to see Ben and Betty really help during the plot, even with kind of trouble.

Nate was going to the florest without any security, and when he was leaving the Rangers show up and were going with him, seems Nate had afraid of spiders, and the scan the Mantis and the Bettle function well because he was already develoment the Gear for Gold and Silver Rangers, well the part of Mantis, really they could really change that, but them decided for a Mantis, instead of Two Bettles, and he really thinking fast, instead be scared be the villans.

Scrozzle plan for bring Evox seems really well done, and Evil Roxy, that girl loves to be evil, and Blaze and Roxy were pretty well in Evox coming outside from the CyberDimension was cool to see he was merge with the Silver Suit, and i wonder well Scrozzle builed the Tronics and Gigadron who he is not capable to build a Robot Vessel to Evox.

Gold and Silver Rangers were really worthy, and Nate deserves be a Ranger, and Steel had a cool personality for a Robot, anxious to see the dynamic between Steel and the others BeastBoots.

Looks like Scrozzle was hamble to fix the CyberGate and now the Goal of Villans is recover the Silver Ranger, and used for Evox was a vessel, and now the Hiatus Begins, well Hasbro did a great work for Power Rangers, but I hope the other Half of the season keep the same quality !

Thanks Internet and, somewhat sequentially, Blake Foster for spoiling that Nate would be the Gold Ranger. However, on the flip side I did NOT see Nate's robot companion, Steel, would be Scarab Beetle Silver so you got me there.

I feel like this entire episode is one giant response to any doubters that someone like Nate could become a Ranger... which is ironic with what happened in real life... plus the fact that we've had plenty other unorthodox Rangers before kinda helps strengthen the idea that almost anybody could indeed be a Power Ranger. They just have to have the right potential, know how, and heart to properly become one and while I had the initial idea that Ben and Betty could be Power Rangers because of that, Nate himself is also a fine choice. Also the fact that he wore a gold striped shirt kinda gave it away, so... yeah.

However, with the arrival of Silver as well means that the goals of Evox's forces have changed: get Steel and transfer Evox into him. Bring it.

So is all Slapstick automatically bad or something? I really don't get why this is a problem apparently.

So apparently you need the DNA of a living being to be able to morph. How does that explain Mack? When he morphed for the first time he was just a robot. Unless Hartford infused him with his own DNA also and we just didn't know about it.

It brings down the entire show. We've said it before countless times there are more clever ways to do humour.

This isn't OO? We've had rangers morph through various methods, is it really that hard to believe that BM's method involves needing human DNA?

Except that B&B's humor doesn't really bring down the show for most people. It can be entertaining, or at the very least not harmful. Not all slapstick, or comedy duos, are bad.

This is GB's method. It'd be great if people stopped acting like how Beast Morphers goes about things is just the standard now (No dating & DNA) and other seasons are just being inconsistent... Like there had literally been two complete sets of robotic Rangers before Mack enters the discussion.

It brings down the entire show. We've said it before countless times there are more clever ways to do humour.
Look at the company Power Rangers is keeping on Nick. They haven't touched clever in a decade.

That was a pretty solid episode, relative to what we've been getting. Just enough character development for Nate in the episode where it doesn't feel totally undeserved.

Man, Steel's voice though. Oof. I really don't like most of the VA work they use for this show. I wish Hasbro would splurge a little and get a better talent-pool.

Yeah, that old chestnut, a character copping a liquid to the face, it wasn't funny twenty-six years ago.

Thank goodness it suddenly became funny yesterday, apparently.

Kody is the One True Dark Lord. Bow down to his magnificent fluffiness or get turned into a chew toy and get buried in the pit of shame.
