Warning: Mocking Hollywood's failed attempts at psychology

That is my question exactly. Her whole plan was to kidnap 99 puppies and turn them into a fur coat. So she could wear it. How in the hell can you make someone with a plan like that sympathetic? I don't care what explanation you give for her, there is no excuse for evil like that. It's not even for something where you could weigh the morality of the action with the results, it's for a coat.
That's the irony, isnt it? I mean, killing animals just for fur......is not really evil went you get down to it.

Sure PETA would say it is, but in general most humans are omnivores who eat meat, and while alot look down on killing for fur, aka animal skin with hair, most are okay with eating meat and leather products, aka animal skin with no hair.

NOT saying you should eat Dalmatian but the ONLY way most people could get behind Cruella is the most touching, or sappy, backstory......and never killing a single puppy. Probably will grab her hands on one in Act 3, about to break its cute little cubby rolles puppy neck......

........and break into tears over her long lost puppy she had as a child, Mr. Senior Puppy Fuzzy Cheeks Winchester the Third Esquire with Spots, her parents claimed "ranaway to live on a farm.....in Canada." but turns her poor parents actually cooked him up as supper, and the fur skin cap they gave her to remember him was actually-

-only to find out and rationalize it as the dog "had it coming", but wants to avoid that trauma at all costs, rises to riches through ruthless buisness so she's never poor again, because as we all know all buisness women in a movie have issues, they cant be all buisness because they actually enjoy it now-

-but wants to wear spots to remember Senior Whatever the Third because if she cant have him alive, noone can have ANY of them alive....but cant bring herself to snap Senior the 4th, frees the puppies-

-defeats the "real" villian of the movie, the Resurrected Evil King from Malecificent, aka the Skinny Good Dad King from Sleeping Beauty the Cartoon, otherwise known as Roger-

-who Anita pushes offa cliff, and retires with Cruella to the countryside where they irresponisbly let 101 Dalamations breed without neutaring or fixing, giving us 1,00,000 messed up inbred pups with three eyes, and Cruella and Anita are total besties, not gay at all, just seems like that and Malificent and Frozen, we're not testing the waters at all to see if we want a gay Disney princess (we do), but theyre going to try the live action Gothel: The Electric Redemptionagloo just to really sure we do-

-oh, and someone opens a small bookshop-coffeshop-clothes-boutique, because Hollywood and Women.

Oh, and someone's parents die, because Disney.

Alex Timbers (Mozart in the Jungle) is in negotiations to direct the film. He was previously attached to direct the Broadway adaptation of Frozen, but that didn't work out. Disney is hoping to start production early next year.

According to this report, the film will be set in 1979 and filming begins later this year.

I forgot about this one. Disney has scheduled a live-action film for release on July 30, 2021. It's quite possible that this could be it because Stone might start filming it after she does Greta Gerwig's Little Women, which begins production this fall. Other possible films include David Lowery's Peter Pan or Resse Witherspoon's Tink, the Enchanted sequel, Rob Marshall's The Little Mermaid, or Paul King's Pinocchio.

A Marvel movie on July 30, 2021, moves to February 12, 2021 (a date the studio already had penned for an untitled Disney live-action film), while an untitled Disney live-action title for July 9, 2021, heads to July 30 that year.

Alex Timbers has left the project because of scheduling conflicts with Broadway musicals. Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) is in now talks to direct the film. Disney wants to get cameras rolling next year.

Ain't we already been through this? They did her backstory on Once Upon a Time. Turns out the woman who murders dogs... she wasn't a great person in her youth either. Cut. Print. Give me a million dollars. Don't further encourage Emma Stone to fail upwards as has been the trajectory of her entire career.

When news surfaced that this will be an 80's punk rock origin story I immediately remembered something. In the Glenn Close film, after Cruella saw Anita's drawings of a spotted coat, she said that she did leopard spots in the 80's. If this is going to be a prequel to the 1996 film, I'd imagine we're going to see what gave Cruella the idea to do that for her fashion line. Maybe she had a horrible experience with a leopard.

Production is reportedly going to begin this summer and it could be released in 2020, which is the same year as Mulan and Maleficent II. A brief synopsis has been released that reveals Cruella's real name.

"Estella (Cruella De Vil) lives on the streets of 1980s London with other hoodlums, where we learn the real origins behind Estella's hatred of Dalmatians."

But she didnít hate Dalmatians? She wanted their fur. There wasnít a grand plan behind it. Cruella likes fur. She enjoys killing dogs. Thatís not something you make a backstory movie about.

Also we have to two perfectly fine movies with Glenn Close being the perfect Cruella. Do we really need this?

To me, this kinda sounds like they're going to try and give Cruella De Vil sympathetic backstory.

If so... just, why? Yeah, I know, money. But still....

I bet you this movie will be like some sort of hybrid between Devil Wears Prada and like I don't even know what.

If there's any villain that shouldn't get the Elphaba treatment, it's the puppy-murdering one.

I'd love them to surprise us and she's just bad the entire time. And then something happens that causes her to get fixated on Dalmatians, etc etc. That'd be nice. But yeah, never really understood why they're bothering aside from yanking money from people. But hey, maybe when we get a trailer down the road it'll shed some light. Probably not though.

The plot is "THIS IS WHY SHE HATES DOGS..." which if that's the most sympathetic thing about her, um...
