Had one of these big beasty things sitting here in parts for forever. Not sure what to do with it. Any suggestions?
It's an old thing from the SD line that changes into a huge, ornate Gundam loosely based off the Burning, I believe.

Maybe you could paint it in the colors of the Muteki Shogun from Ninja Sentai Kakuranger(or MMPR Season 3), because it seems to also be able to transform into a castle like the megazord did in Kakuranger.

Where did you buy the Astray red frame? I think they sell those at Barnes and Noble. If you got it there, return it...

Nope it was at my local Vintage Stock, it was used. I got it for $50... I'll make something work.

Plus I've had it for 6 months or so now... just now decided what I wanted to do.

So I was working on my HG Cherudim Gundam tonight, and my side cutters broke on me...The tension coil snapped pretty cleanly. Still works but feels weird without it springing back after each snip. So I took the opportunity to order a pair of Tamiya side cutters, some new panel liner Gundam Markers, (in all three colors this time) and a pack of replacement X-Acto blades. Should hopefully make the rest of my build much smoother

Got my HGUC Hi Nu on Monday. It came out great, though I had to redo some parts after putting them on backwards. In my defense, I had just got off work and was tired. Now I'm stuck deciding how I want to pose it. I really should pick up some stands someday (especially for the Strike Freedom).

I know it's technically not Gunpla but I hope general mecha plamo is close enough. Here is my Kotobukiya Frame Arms Magatsuki, I panel lined it and filled in some details using a Sakura Micron pen and silver Sharpie. It was my first try at masking so some of the silver parts are a little messy, and I'm still getting the hang of nub management, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

For comparison, here are straight out-of-the-box pics from Dalong.

Not bad!!

Well after a couple more days arms are done. Ugh... NOW I remember why I really dislike Perfect Grades... but they are rewarding. And damn, at this point he's pretty heavy. Going to put the rest of the upper body together tomorrow and work on finishing the legs. At that point I'll really see what I need to do. That said, I have gotten the other parts together to do this project.

I've got quite a collection of model kits built up myself. Many of which I have yet to begin assembling. I am debating on whether I should assemble the Strike Freedom or the Exia for Anime Central this year. Both are the Real Grade (RG) kits

Thanks! I'm excited to see what you're doing to that Red Frame.

Hopefully it turns out...

On the panel lining, if you want to try this... here's what I do and how I get a softer edge on it.

When you line it, not immediately, but maybe within 30 seconds or so, take a Q-Tip and rub along the line... it'll soften the marking and if you "goobered" a spot, like I do frequently, it'll remove it or hide it. Then I take my thumb or index finger and rub the spot if any of the color runs... that get's it all off and usually makes the line crisp. It takes a bit of practice, but that's how I've done both my Red Frames.

By rubbing it too, you get less defined lines, but to me it makes certain parts "oily" looking, which I like as these are huge machines that would be oily and I don't have to get really technical. See... I even do the parts that don't show... yeah, I'm that committed. Plus with movement you never know what parts will be seen.

Also, for certain colors you might try other pens. Brown pins work well with red, black for blues and greys, grey for the white... etc. Try experimenting... the results can surprise you.

Well after having a severely depressing yesterday... due to other circumstances... I bought another PG Red Frame. I played with different ideas, but just couldn't get the right look. Something still looked off. So... "Lieutenant Dan gonna get new legs"... lol!

My wife may kill me for this in June/July, but I popped in a pre-order on this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

GundamStoreandMore hasn't updated in a very long time (Not even a single Build Fighters Try kit, no email responses, and only vague Facebook responses...VERY disappointing) and GG Infinite has it for a dollar less, but they want at least $10 for shipping when I can get free two day shipping with my Prime membership.

However, it would be significantly worse if it was instead a PG Astray Red Frame

Ugh... so my idea didn't work. Could have, but once I saw how it would "look", I really, really wanted legs. So in a depressed state, I bought another one, and robbed the legs... and a couple of other pieces that had fallen off the trees.

Didn't put all the stickers on it, those things were a bitch. But this was very satisfying, and I will never put together another PG, unless God Gundam is released...

Hmm, I could preorder Tryon 3 or I could get the V2 Assault Buster and wouldn't have to wait as long. It's a hard choice.

The Wing Gundam Fenice, it is an amazing looking custom of the Wing Gundam with a slightly nostalgic feel. It can't transform, but its asymmetrical look and battle damaged head really make it stand out.

Here's a pic of mine that I put together and painted.

Dude!! Yeah, that one is awesome... great work by the way!

I'm one that likes the standard style of Gundams... if that makes sense. Not the Zaku style or off the wall ones... this is right up my alley. Off to find it now! Thanks!

EDIT: Annnnddd... bought!
