Well, it wasn't 13-0, but it may as well have been up against Chile.

Another shutout for the U.S., now for the real test against Olympic rivals Sweden on Thursday.

Poor Nigeria, all they had to do was hold out for about 15 more minutes. Then one aggressive move hands France the win on a silver platter.

Now they have to hope for failure from another team in order to move on.

United States with another shutout victory, against the one team they wanted to beat in Sweden.

Let the knockout rounds begin!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned this as Sarri has left Chelsea to join Juventus. At least he left on his own accord than getting sacked like his predecessors except Hiddink and Benitez, whose tenures were always intended to be temporary.

Iím actually kind of happy he left. He definitely made Chelsea play a more attacking/possession style of game but he was so stubborn. Never changed formation, lived and die with Jorginho, and didnít seem to like being told what to do. It took him too long to start playing Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek.

With that said, best of luck with him at Juve. That stubborn attitude is going to have to go if he is going to coach that well-oiled machine at Juventus.

Hopefully, Chelsea can land Frank Lampard sometime soon. Iím looking forward to a fresh new start and someone who is willing to play our young talent. Plus he is a club legend.

Well, it was his decision to leave, so yeah.

Heck, he'll be the first English manager of Chelsea since Glenn Hoddle if this happens.

Wow, I can't believe how Australia gutted it out against Norway. They had the motor all second half, but Norway kept pressure and they were still shooting on goal despite continual misses. And after literally battling players all night, Kerr was clearly exhausted and couldn't even get her penalty kick on target, which basically ended Australia's hopes.

The officiating throughout was pretty weird too, which didn't help.

Looks like the US Men have maybe exorcised the demons of the worst night in modern US history, Routing Trinidad & Tobago 6-0. Aaron Long and Gyasi Zardes scored Braces, Pulisic scored off a Morris assist, and Arriola scored again

I was really hoping for penalty kicks with Brazil and France, they were even more competitive with each other than Norway and Australia yesterday. It was amazing how Gauvin got her early goal taken away and still managed to be the one to earn France's first goal later on. And Henry's game winner coming without her even having to wind up for the kick was tremendous to watch.

The U.S. Women survive Spain, with Rapinoe scoring both of their goals, and both off of penalties.

The United States vs. France quarterfinal everyone expected is official!

Bury's getting docked 12 points because the owner is paying off the creditors at 25% of what's owed. It's considered to be insolvency, so they're joining Bolton at the bottom of the League One table for next season.

There seems to be a power struggle at US Soccer right now over the CEO position and the situation seems to be getting quite ugly according to a NY Times article.

President Cordiero wants a CEO other than Jay Berhalter but the powers that be seem to think otherwise, horrible timing given all the stress that's been going on right now with the Solo case moving forward with the USOC and the antitrust NASL lawsuit.

That goal by England in the 40th minute was the smoothest in the entire tournament.

Norway had some chances, but their timing was off all night, both offensively and defensively. It was clear the Lionesses have spent more time playing together.

Man, only France could make a 2-0 lead nerve-wracking...

The battle between Diani and Dunn was INTENSE. The U.S. truly had to earn this one.

And the United States women are headed to another World Cup final!

Man, for all the analysts to say this game was going to be easier than the quarterfinal against France, it definitely didn't feel like it...

So, the US journalists underestimated England, eh? No shame going out against the reigning champs I guess, but England were unlucky - a penalty got saved and a goal got disallowed thanks to VAR. At least we qualified for the Olympics, where we'll compete as Team GB.
