Brandon Jay McLaren stars in Ransom

Brandon Jay McLaren (Jack from Power Rangers S.P.D.) can now be seen in the new midseason drama Ransom. He plays a member of a hostage negotiation organization named Oliver Yates, the team's psychological profiler.

Ransom premiered tonight, and will air Saturday nights at 8/7c on CBS.

I liked the show, he seemed to fit well as part of the cast.

Airing on Saturdays has me worried because that's usually the graveyard timeslot but wish the show luck. I'll probably DVR it just to see.

Funny, I got the exact opposite feeling. Nazneen seemed to fit perfectly (though she tends to in every show she's in), and Brandon didn't give me anything that screamed the line of work he's supposed to be in.

But I'll give it another shot. First episodes are always either better than the rest or worst than the rest.

It kind of feels like a contractual obligation on the part of CBS, since they didn't even start advertising until like a week and a half ago. And while debuting on Sunday after 60 Minutes helped a bit, it was a holiday and was followed by Pure Genius, which CBS is also trying to get rid of.

But the upside is they'll more than likely finish the season. It's 12 more episodes.

Wow Saturday time slot to start a series? Show clearly will get cancelled. No network puts a new show on Saturday nights. Anytime a network puts a show on Saturdays it's because it failed in another time slot. To be honest i've haven't heard of a network doing that before

Last thing I saw McLaren in was an episode of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour.... him getting a role on a CBS drama might be intriguing.

I haven't seen the series (so this might hamper my opinion considerably), but I always got the impression that Brandon Jay was one of those actors who were committed to the project they were on because they liked the material that much, or they just coast through doing a serviceable job with the material they're given for a paycheck.

I think this might be the latter, esp. considering he turned in some solid or stand-out performances in Slasher and Graceland (i.e., the show that got him to cut his dreads for the role).

This is actually his second CBS drama (only technically, since it was filmed for Canada's Global and simply purchased by CBS a la Flashpoint). His first was the murder mystery Harper's Island.

They've had one episode already. They returned on Saturday; at least on the Minneapolis affiliate.
