Color me surprised. Not only would they make this sort of thing in an era where comic books practically never get this kind of marketing and advertisement, it's actually very good. About the only iffy thing is the suit material and that's just a nitpick.

Looking around, people who are commenting are naturally surprised at WTH is going on, since of course they don't read the comic. This could more than likely make people gravitate towards the comic with the way this short film is set up with all the clips and audio from past seasons, and seeing Drakkon and wondering who the heck this evil Tommy is. Good stuff, and it would be nice to see this applied to the rest of the live-action works too.
I'm not against any campaign to show some Jason/ASJ some love in the franchise. But would we have enough support?
Well, I'm sure someone can head over to ASJ's Facebook page, talk to his FB admin and have them post something on his page to get the word out that we would want to see ASJ in collab somehow with Boom! Studios. I'm sure with the numbers, it'll grab attention to Kyle. Sure, JDF did a great job, but we would like to see more of the OG's incorporated somehow out of respect and homage. They were the first ones there, they helped shaped Power Rangers.

Since JDF Tagged AmyJo on his post, she is involved somehow in the future - so why not get ASJ. Make noise you guys

MagnaChipster March 22nd, 2018 07:48 PM

Well, I mean......as someone pointed out, Drakkon-verse Jason is dead. What would ASJ even do? Also Shattered Grid is already mostly written out and set in stone...I doubt anything could be changed to accommodate for ASJ's sudden appearance.

JDF tagging AJJ probably has something to do with

[HIDE]Ranger Slayer[/HIDE]

so her involvement would make sense.

But regardless, that trailer was absolutely amazing. I hope we see all the suits for real! They're gorgeous!

Not really dead and returning to be the hero? It's a possibility, but that's not what I want to ask them. Would be just fancry. I want more Jason in future arcs or promoting material. And Jason in the Comic Main Universe is not dead!

I will not talk about the campaign here, to not flood the thread. PM whoever wants to help.

moonknight2099 March 22nd, 2018 07:58 PM

Man that trailer was awesome Lord drakkon and his ranger sentries brought back major nostalgia

Drakkon-Verse Jason is Dead, but Comic Main Universe Jason/ASJ still alive. So they can film something or get him involved along those lines since Drakkon made his way to the main universe already

Only main universe Jason is sixteen years old at most, and ASJ is hovering somewhere around 40. He could probably manage a voice over though.

shsaing March 22nd, 2018 08:16 PM

is Drakkon Universe, JDF/Tommy is in his 40s? or is he still a teen in Drakkon Universe?

maslego March 22nd, 2018 08:17 PM
is Drakkon Universe, JDF/Tommy is in his 40s? or is he still a teen in Drakkon Universe?
He's definitely older but they don't say exactly how much older.

shsaing March 22nd, 2018 08:21 PM

It would have been cool if they filmed a final battle between Drakkon (jdf) and Jason (asj) as stated in the comics where he defeated Jason for promotion

I think many of us would like to see Shattered Grid as a Live Action NETFLIX type series. Would be better than that Legendary Battle, they can make up for it. Invite past rangers and use them properly.

It's quite a complex storyline involving different timelines and therefore I think it would easily become a mess of a TV series but that said, if at the end of Shattered Grid, they could leave Drakkon in the present and ready to face this dimensions Tommy, that could be far greater a TV series.
The yin and yang, the what ifs, facing life choices, showing backstories and ultimately and metaphorically facing your own inner demons. There is depth to that.

shsaing March 22nd, 2018 08:35 PM

Yes, Tommy is a cash cow, would like ASJ to be somehow involved more with Boom! in the future

maybe do several voice overs in suit

ok I actually just teared up

mmprfan09 March 22nd, 2018 09:27 PM

That trailer is pure brilliance.

THAT is how you make a mature power rangers without making PR a snoozefest.

I hope we get more but I wont hold my breath.
Kyle Higgins officially completed the impossible. He made JDF become a believable actor on screen.
I liked it a lot, but thought his acting was kind of a weak point for it.

Noob question, is there a way to buy the whole series of comics without buying them individually? Some kind of compilation? Maybe this is a bit premature since it still ongoing, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Xalfrea March 22nd, 2018 10:00 PM

Those would be the trade or hardcover paperbacks that would often compile at least 5 or 6 issues. Unfortunately those don't come out until a few months later.

Ohhhhh yeahhhhhh.....

*Drools*

Saban should do a whole TV series of PR that is mature like this. I am sure they did not make those costumes just for a 2 minute video.

Shattered Grid could make a good movie...

Morgan Lamia March 22nd, 2018 10:41 PM

Let's try to keep the embed of the video to once per page please, guys. Just edit out the YT tags when you quote. :)

One comic I've noticed missing in some lists of current Boom! Studios comics is the Jason/Ninjor comic "From Here to Despair", which I think was only released in the Year One collection.

I'm mainly posting this as a reminder or to bring it to some readers' attention.
