It'll never top Shell Shocked. :P

But seriously, this is pretty cool. I'm excited to read it.
I'm thinking it's taking the Batman/TMNT approach where it's inspired by the IDW continuity but is mostly it's own thing.
Definitely. But at least there would be a guideline. Ie, before 50. I don't think they will have Shredder leading the foot as well as say have Turtle Jennika in the same story.

mmprfan09 July 15th, 2019 01:21 PM

This looks awesome. Although I do kinda feel indifferent that itís yet another comic series that focuses on the original 6.

The in space team at least met the turtles on screen. Them being in this comic series would make more sense.

Well Batman/TMNT 2 apparently had Shredder alive and well but Splinter in control of the Foot so who knows?

Nothing has, so that's unfair.
same old MMPR Green in the center that Boom have been doing in basically 90% of their covers.
Nice bit of hyperbole there.

I actually did the math on total covers Tommy is on (including Lord Drakkon)

MMPR - 106/316 COVERS = 33%
GGPR - 9/121 COVERS = 7%
TOTAL - 115/437 COVERS = 26%

Look out guys, Tommy is EVERYWHERE.

mmprfan09 July 15th, 2019 01:53 PM

Well going off of design and not pr/sentai rules it would make the most sense for green to be front and center.

Allio July 15th, 2019 02:49 PM

I always imagined that for the crossover, the TMNT's pantheon would have been perfect for the main villains of the crossover...Specifically Rat King, Manmoth and Jagwar.

But hey. There is always a potential sequel. There is this image of Rat King using his flute to take control of the Dragonzord, I think would be awesome.

Good for you. If you could find me some numbers of all 6 MMPR members on a cover where Tommy is in the front/center compared to covers with all 6 MMPR members where he's not, that would be more relevant to my comment.
Power Rangers / TMNT crossover coming in December

https://comicbook.com/powerrangers/2019/07/15/power-rangers-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-comic-series/

[HIDE]"The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver - AKA The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger - but soon discover he's joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan! As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they're confronted by another (fr)enemy - the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?!"

[/HIDE]
Kind of surprised they are doing another one.

Anyway, I'm sad I missed the chance to make a Shell Shocked joke :(

I think it would be more accurate if you counted just main covers. Since that's the intended cover of the book. The rest are variants which don't pertain to the book and have always alternated rangers

KaijuRanger July 15th, 2019 05:20 PM

I checked comiXology for the main covers of Mmpr and counted the ones without Tommy/Drakkon and its 25/48 without any Tommy
Several didnít have Tommy as the main focus on the cover

I absolutely hate JDF and Tommy by association but even I agree people exaggerate when it comes to the comics. Tommy hasn't been as bad as people say

I don't count Drakkon as Tommy. That's like saying 2017 rangers are the MMPR rangers. No one has ever counted them as the same characters. Alternate universes mean a different character even if it's the same name and face

SonicBlueRanger July 15th, 2019 06:27 PM

I gotta be honest I'm tired of the Tommy worship but at this point I'm actually starting to find the hate for him more annoying. Like all he has to do is appear now and people flip their lids.
Oh I want this! I want this! I know itís too early to think about this, but Iím also hoping they do an animated movie like Batman vs. TMNT.
Gonna be honest, this was the first thought I had after seeing this! In this context, a one-off animated PR would work.
from the quote

Sounds like this is Green with Evil.
Ryan's said a number of times that he's not adapting Green With Evil as he doesn't think it would live up to people's memories of the show, and the press release also describes this as an apparent "betrayal" of the Rangers.

Sure!

TOMMY FRONT AND CENTER (Only if all six MMPR are on the cover) REDPOWERRANGER93 EDITION

MMPR - 24/316 COVERS = 7%
GGPR - 1/121 COVERS = 0.8%
TOTAL - 25/437 COVERS = 5.7%

25/35 Covers where all 6 members are present = 71%. Close I guess? But 35 covers out of over 400 for the full team to be featured is pretty low anyway.
I think it would be more accurate if you counted just main covers. Since that's the intended cover of the book. The rest are variants which don't pertain to the book and have always alternated rangers
ONLY MAIN COVERS (not Drakkon, and because variants don't count for some reason?) TyrannoRanger EDITION

MMPR - 17/44 Main Covers = 38%
GGPR - 1/22 Main Covers = 4.5%

Hardly 90%. My whole point was that what RedPowerRanger93 said was an exaggeration.

There's this whole incorrect assumption that most of these comics are all about Tommy. They aren't.

RedPowerRanger93 July 16th, 2019 01:06 PM

I thought it was pretty damn obvious that I was exaggerating with the 90%. My whole point was that Tommy is usually always the focus when he's together with the full team on a cover. You just proved I was right with your 71%. I could care less about the other numbers as they are totally irrelevant to what I said.

trekkieb47 July 16th, 2019 01:19 PM

Remind me what your point was other than complaining that one of the most popular rangers in the general public was in the center to... help sell comics?
