More Than One Reason

[Authors Note: After re-reading my previous first installment of "More Than One", I found that I skipped so many plot points, made so many errors, and decided that it wasn’t the version that I wanted the relationship of Connor and Kira to be about. After re-working the first installment, and writing the second
I haven’t changed much of the story telling from the first installment, but I’ve added more thought and feeling to all of the characters. I hope you enjoy this revised version with an extra word added to the title. Please review! I love getting great reviews, and I enjoy getting criticism too, because it can only help make one a better author.]
Disclaimer: As always, I do not own Power Rangers
although I wish I did over the many years I’ve been writing Power Rangers Fan Fiction.

This story is dedicated to all of the fans who were rooting for Connor and Kira to become a couple, even though it didn’t happen. But hey, James and Emma are rooming together now, so anything is possible, right? ;-)

PART ONE

Chapter One- Reunion in Reefside

It was obvious that the Christmas season had hit Reefside, California with a full force, and although the citizens of the growing metropolis didn’t have snow to greet their happy spirit, they kept the meaning of the ancient holiday alive as shoppers filled the sidewalks, keeping the corner shops out of stock. And to think that it had almost been a year since the perils of Mesagog was ended by the world renown Power Rangers, the feeling of peace had once again brought people out of their homes and back into the city, assured that they would no longer have to worry about the threats of monster attacks.

Hayley’s Cyberspace was buzzing with business as usual, as the red haired hostess Hayley, had recently invited Santa Claus to ignite smiles on the many children that had lined up to see him. The Cyberspace CafĂ© was one of the few places where automated snow could be found, and the customers loved the effect. But Hayley would give up everything if things could have been like they were one year prior, when Kira, Connor, and Ethan were Rangers. She missed those times, of the three of them working together
and it was amazing how much could change in the little time that had passed.

Ethan James had enrolled into Reefside University, where he was majoring in Graphic Design. Hayley expected Ethan to do this, since she knew his love for computers, but he had a dream, one that she hoped that he got to live some day. He once told her that watching the Japanese television show based on the Power Rangers had been a crucial implementer in the backing of his dream, that he wanted to create the first video game based on the Power Rangers. Hayley admired Ethan’s dream, because she knew he wanted to do something with his life. And then there was Kira Ford, the musician. Hayley wasn’t surprised in Kira’s choice not to go to college, because although she didn’t advertise to her customers that they should stop their education after high school, Hayley knew that Kira’s talent would make her big
a super star. Hayley considered herself Kira’s number one fan, often joking with the performer that some day she’d be able to tell her children that she knew the famous Kira Ford as a high school student. Hayley couldn’t speak for Connor McKnight, because she hadn’t seen him since he departed for the University of Maine. Hayley knew that he would make it big someday as well, because Connor was an excellent soccer player, and it was one of the many reasons Maine had offered him a scholarship. And now it was time for all three of them to reunite, because Connor had just been released for Winter Break
and he was coming back to Reefside to spend time with his friends and family for the holiday. Hayley was ecstatic, it would be the first time that the three of the former Dino Thunder Rangers would be together since August.

The telephone in Hayley’s office began to sound, bringing her out of her train of thought. She looked down at the counter realizing that she’d been washing the same spot for over five minutes, as her brain took a trip down memory lane. Realizing that the phone was ringing, she hurried to the receiver and answered. "Hayley’s Cyberspace, this is Hayley speaking,"

"Hayley, it’s Tommy," the high school teacher, and former Power Ranger spoke. "I’m leaving Adam’s house now
and just got a call from Connor. His plane landed about ten minutes ago in the Angel Grove Airport. I sent a call ahead to his parents telling them I’d pick him up
and I figured Kira and Ethan would want to know that he’s on his way back,"

Hayley smiled, realizing that it was almost time. "Yeah, I’m sure they’d love to know
by the way, is everything all right at the Park residence?" Hayley asked.

On the other end of the line, Tommy muttered a response. Everything was fine at Adam’s house, Tanya had been taken to the emergency room and was now in labor. Tommy wished he could have stayed, but remembered that he’d promised the McKnight’s to pick up Connor. And besides, seeing Katherine again was too much for him to handle. He often wondered why he’d allowed their relationship to end in a rocky path that had hurt her forever, but eventually decided that it was left better in the past.

"I’ll go and tell them know," Hayley answered. "I assume you’re taking him home to see his parents before he stops into the CafĂ©?"

"Yeah,." Tommy answered. "I think it’s only fair, and besides, Krista is already at the McKnight’s waiting for him,"

"All right
I’ll let you go Tommy," she said, ending the phone conversation. She had to find Kira and Ethan and tell them the news of Connor‘s arrival. Placing the receiver down on the hook, she turned around and looked out into the world of Reefside, as if she hoped to see Tommy driving past now. She sighed and exited her office, back into the main room of her facility.

Ethan was in the computer section, playing a video game
And Kira stood at the cafĂ© counter, twirling her straw in the glass of lemonade she’d ordered.

"Trent
he was such a horrible Ranger," Kira’s mind echoed. "He wasn’t even our friend, and he didn’t even ask me out
I think he must have liked boys.. Err no, stupid Kira, stop assuming the sexuality of other people just because they didn’t try to date you. Maybe you’re the one with the problem," Thoughts like these had been filling Kira’s head for months, it was as if some love crazed cheerleader had invaded her brain, and started shouting cheers that contained the outrageous ideas she’d been envisaging. Wasn’t she right about Trent though? He didn’t even say good bye to them when he left for art school, he wasn’t even coming home for the Winter Break. And none of them had ever gotten close, or as close as Kira wanted to be to him. She sighed, and took a sip of her lemonade. Trent wasn’t the main topic of what had actually been bothering her
he was her escape from the reason that she could tell no one of. Her love for Connor McKnight.
Of course, she’d never even thought of the possibility of the two of them being together when they first met. He was the soccer jock who could get any girl he wanted
and she was the punk rocker who liked making fun of people like him. They came from two different worlds, or so she thought. Their worlds clashed together when they became superheroes, and it began a friendship that grew over the months they’d saved the world. It wasn‘t until Connor had left for the University of Maine, that she’d realized that she loved him. Notably, it wasn’t the realization of love at first, but she missed him. She missed the little antics he’d pull to make her angry, she missed the comfort he brought her through his smile as she stood on the stage of the cyberspace singing her heart out, but most of all she missed the calming sound of his voice. She couldn’t remember how many times he talked her to sleep when she was nervous over a gig, or was injured from a monster fight. Their secret phone conversations was the only thing she could hold onto, and call her own.
Why she couldn’t reveal her feelings was sillier then she realized, but even if she had wanted to tell Connor she wouldn’t have been able to. Not once had he contacted her since he left for college, and that hurt her more then anything. She’d sit by the phone on the weekends, watching his team’s soccer game, hoping he’d call her to advertise their victory. But nothing. Once, she came very close to telling Ethan
but realized he would most likely laugh at her.. So she decided to live with the secret of her feelings, writing them into her diary. And now he was returning to Reefside, Winter Break would make her face the man she couldn’t help but love once again. A tap on her shoulder, brought Kira out of her fixation, back to the reality of the world where she was single
alone for the holidays. She looked up at her intruder and smiled. "Hayley," she greeted.

"I’ve got wonderful news," Hayley greeted. She grabbed Kira’s now-empty glass of lemonade and entered to the other side of the counter. As she refilled the glass, she continued. "Tommy just called my office, and Connor’s plane just landed in Angel Grove ten minutes ago.

Kira attempted to make a fake smile, but knew she wouldn’t be able to fool Hayley for long. And then something hit her, something she couldn’t believe she’d never thought of before. Hayley had always been there for her, in good times, and bad times. She knew Hayley wouldn’t laugh at her feelings, she knew she could tell Hayley anything. "Hayley, can I talk to you in your office?"

Hayley was surprised by Kira’s response but nodded. "Sure
what’s on your mind?" she asked, leading the way.

Now that she’d been hit with the question, Kira wasn’t so sure she could go on with the conversation, but knew it would help her settle her feelings. "Hayley
I’ve never told anyone this before, but lately or well a few months ago, certain feelings have surfaced. Feelings that I’ve never had for a person before. And I don’t know how to deal with them, because it’s kind of hard when he’s not here,"
"Wait a second," Hayley interrupted. "Who’s not here?"

Kira paused, for now, one name, a word that could change Hayley’s opinion on her was about to be said. "Connor’s not here,"

Hayley wasn’t surprised at Kira’s answer, she was just unsure why her instincts hadn’t told her about Kira’s feelings for Connor sooner. She smiled at Kira, and took her hand. "Love is one of the most precious gifts in the world," she replied. "And too many take it for granted, believe me
if I could go back and make choices that I didn’t make, I would,"

"What are you trying to say Hayley?"

"I‘m trying to say
that you should tell Connor how you feel," Hayley answered. Inside, Hayley knew exactly how Kira felt
especially since she’d felt the same way about Tommy when she first met him at graduate school. But after finding out Tommy’s ranger, and romance history
all that he’d been through, she decided that she’d serve him better as a friend. And in Kira’s case, Krista was a large obstacle before she could get what she wanted.

"So
you think I should just walk up to him, and tell him how I feel about him?" Kira asked. Inside, Kira wanted to do exactly that more than anything, but she found that she didn’t have enough courage, and that was not like her at all. She’d always been outspoken, not taking crap from anyone, and heck, she fought monsters and went through utter havoc being the Yellow Ranger. Wasn’t that scarier then telling someone that you love them? Kira sighed, realizing that Hayley was right.

Hayley shook her head. "Well
Kira, you seem to be forgetting one factor. Connor is dating someone
Krista. And from what I’ve seen of them, they seem to be pretty close. But who knows, I see a lot of stuff in here that I could call dating, but it’s not. But I don’t think you should keep your feelings hidden from him, because it could end up tearing up your friendship,"

Kira shrugged. "But couldn’t me telling him my feelings also cause the same effect? It’s like a win/loose situation. I don’t want to loose my friendship with Connor, but if it meant having the chance to be with him
then it might be worth it,"

"I don’t think your confidence will ruin the friendship you’ve built with Connor," Hayley added. "But, this is what I think you should do. Go over to the McKnight’s and get Connor alone,"

"Alone?" Kira asked.

Hayley nodded. "Considering how Connor might react, it might be better if you’re alone,"

Kira wasn’t so sure if she was ready to take on the task, but she was relieved that she finally had confided in someone else with the information, but now the hard part came. She smiled at Hayley, and gave her a hug
for Hayley had helped her once again, something that didn’t’ have to be done.

"I have something for you to give to him," Hayley responded. "I’m sure everyone else will have homecoming gifts, but your gift will be most special," Hayley turned around a large wooden cabinet and took out a set of keys from her pocket. She opened the cabinet, inside were various items, but she took out a box wrapped in gift paper with a red bow. "I’d been meaning to give this to Connor for his birthday, but something happened with Mesagog, that made me completely forget,"

"What is it?" Kira pondered about the box’s contents.

"Remember the segment about the Power Rangers who spent most of their time in space?" Hayley asked, as Kira nodded. "Well, after the am Armageddon that took place in Angel Grove back in 1998, that team of Rangers became famous. Not surprising though, because they revealed their identities
so they live the like of celebrities. Constant paparazzi, that’s why the rule of keeping your identity secret is something Tommy still lives by. However, the Black Space Ranger, Carlos Varlette went on to become a professional soccer player after graduating from Stone Canyon University," Hayley explained.

Kira nodded. "I can remember watching that news broadcast when I was in sixth grade. They sent us home early, and then they got a shot of them standing on top of that building morphing. Soon after that, kids our age forgot about the Power Rangers
some said that they lost the mystic behind them,"

"Inside of this box, is a soccer ball. Tommy took it to Angel Grove to get it personally signed for Connor," Hayley finished.

Kira gasped. She knew that Connor would absolutely love the gift, it was perfect in more ways then one. She smiled and took the gift from Hayley. "I’m going to drive over to the McKnight’s," Kira said, as she and Hayley walked back into the main cafĂ©. "I’m sure Ethan will go wit-," she paused, looking around the room. Ethan was no where to be found. Kira turned to Hayley. "Um wasn’t Ethan here earlier?"

Hayley nodded. "He must have gotten a phone call from Connor," Hayley said, which seemed to be the most plausible answer for Ethan’s disappearance. "I think you should head over there yourself
and don’t forget about what I said,"

Kira smiled. "I won’t Hayley," she sighed and looked at the clock. "Thanks for your advice,"

The tall towers of the great palace which rested nobly on the moon was dead, once belonging to the evil space witch Rita Repulsa and her power hungry Lord Zedd, it now set vacant as its previous owners had been purified in the 1998 Armageddon. The moon itself had seen peace as well, save for the remnants of the Machine Empire digging into the surface to locate the mighty Serpenterra, but as far as large scale events, it had been quiet. Things wouldn’t stay that way for long. An agile silver ship appeared as if out of nowhere, exiting from what appeared to be a rift in space. The ship was headed directly towards the earth’s moon.

Onboard the ship, Atris, a slender humanoid woman dressed completely in black stood at one of the many glass windows which gave the ship’s voyagers brilliant views of the galaxy. She had an intent look upon her face, one of worry, or possible concern. She’d heard the remarks and rumors, always whispered just a bit too loudly regarding the strange palace which rested upon the Earth’s moon. Some of it she knew was fueled by deception. Being a personal handmaiden to the last remnant of the United Alliance of Evil was a position that she had learned to be proud of, one that she’d taken in many hurtful words for. And now her mistress had finally come back to the origination of the Alliance’s evil. Earth.

Another woman, dressed in all white arose from the throne which rested in the middle of the room. She proceeded over to another window and stared delightfully at the large blue pearl that she’d known forever. She turned to her trusted handmaiden and laughed. "I was a fool for assigning Dark Specter to such a powerful galaxy," she spoke softly.

"Yes," Atris, the handmaiden responded.

"All of these years I’ve wasted plotting my return in that pit bowl base on Onyx, and now it’s finally time for me to act upon what my pathetic minions could never do," the woman answered.

"And the Power Rangers my lady?" the handmaiden asked.

"The Power Rangers?" the woman laughed at her handmaiden’s mention of them. "The Power Rangers will soon realize that they have been nothing but pawns in my master plan. It’s a pity Zordon is no longer present to watch as I reveal to them the secret he has kept from his precious teenagers," the woman pursed her lips into a smile and glared down at the earth. Her thoughts had never been so clear, she felt as if she was back at the prime of her alliance. It was now time for a new era of evil to descend upon the Earth, one that the Power Rangers had no chance of stopping.

Chapter 2

[Note: Thanks for your imput Kyrie It was much appreciated]

Chapter Two- Do Wah Ditty

Kira Ford pulled her 1997 gold Ford Escort into the wide elongate driveway which was paved next to the McKnight’s suburban home in a well constructed Reefside community. Kira had always made fun of Connor, because he was the jock from the rich neighborhood, a stereotype played endlessly in teen flicks. Kira’s family may have been wealthy but she never chose to flaunt it the way Connor had always done. Kira glanced at the peaceful house, it looked peaceful from the outside, but she could tell from all of the cars parked around that she was walking into the danger zone. Get a hold of yourself Kira Ford. She thought. She knew that she wasn’t supposed to act like this, it wasn’t like her
but yet it seemed so right. “I can do this,” she said loud enough, sure that she was the only one who heard the words. She grabbed the box which sat next to her in the passenger seat and opened the door, breathing a sigh of relief. Walking down the pathway was like walking down the path of destiny, and it was strange how one event could change her life forever. Was she walking into a heartbreaking? Kira nervously approached the door and raised her finger towards the doorbell.

The sound that could drive a person crazy if activated over and over again echoed throughout the household, as the wooden door flew open. A slim girl with long black hair smiled at Kira. It was Krista, the girl Connor met during his senior year at Reefside High School. Since their meeting, the two had grown close, and by the end of the year
they were a full-fledged couple. She shook her head at Kira. “I’m sorry, but we’re not interested in tickets for the Battle of the Bands music fest,”

“Excuse me?” Kira asked. “Don’t you know who I am?”

Krista shrugged her shoulders. “Am I supposed to? I mean, I really don’t hang around with people like you
if you know what I mean. No offense of course, it‘s only that I respect those who take care of our environment. I’m sorry, have a good day,”

Kira sighed deeply. “Krista!” she said angrily. “I went to school with you, I’ve met you countless times. I am Connor’s best fr-,”

Before Kira could continue speaking, Connor appeared behind Krista, sliding his arms around his waste. He moved to kiss her on the cheek, but gasped when he glanced at Kira. “Hey!” he greeted excitedly. “I was wondering when my favorite performer was going to show,” he moved away from Krista and opened his arms for a hug.

“You
you know this girl?” Krista gasped at Connor, who glanced back at her strangely.

“Don’t you remember Kira?” Connor asked. “I’ve introduced you to her before
um let’s see, there was that time at the prom
and then there was tha,”

“Okay, okay,” Krista interrupted. “I get the point
anyways I’m going to go and get your homecoming present. I’m sure you’re going to love it,” she smirked at Kira and kissed Connor softly on the cheek before running off into the house.

“Ugh,” exclaimed Kira. “What is her deal Connor? She insulted me so many times just now, I wanted to slap her,”

Connor shrugged. “I don’t know
she’s been weird ever since I got here. I’d like to apologize for what ever she said to you though,” he smiled at Kira. “I’m really happy to you see you though, I’ve missed you,” He opened his arms once again for a hug.

“I’ve missed you too Connor,” Kira said, wrapping her arms around the semi-muscular soccer player. She loved the warmth of his body, she felt protected with the feeling of his strong arms around her. She never wanted to let go. I love you Connor. She thought. I’ve always wanted to tell you this. But those were only wishes, and she knew that now was the wrong time to tell him her feelings, but she would find the right time.

Connor finally ended the hug and pointed into the house. “Come on inside, my mom went crazy with cooking,”

“Cool,” Kira exclaimed. “Is Ethan here?”

Connor shook his head. “He was here, but he had to leave because his mom wanted help with Christmas shopping. He’ll probably be around later though
and oh yeah, have you heard from Trent at all?”

“Yeah right,” Kira grinned. “He’s off at Art School, and from what his father told me
Trent is pretty well set where he’s at,”

“That figures,” was Connor’s response. “I was talking about it on the ride back with Dr. O,”
“Talking about what?”

“Trent,” Connor shrugged. “I told him that I felt it was like Trent and the rest of us never connected
and it may have been that whole evil ranger get up thing, but it just seems like he never was in the group,”

“I know what you mean,” Kira responded.

“In fact, Dr. O said that Trent’s ideology of being a Power Ranger was one that he never had experienced before. He said that the charisma of those he was on Ranger teams with had always been strong among everyone,”

“Yeah, I can tell Dr. O said that,” Kira smiled, joking at the large words Connor had used.

“Oh stop it,” Connor smiled. “Now come on inside,”

*****
Atris the handmaiden studied the large steel throne which stood upon a pedestal, it’s back met at the top in a point, creating a triangle effect. A large scale ’Z’ was embedded in the center of the chair, staring at the chair brought chills to the feeble girl as she could sense the evil that it still possessed. She turned to her mistress. “Zedd?” she asked innocently.

The woman nodded. “Yes, Lord Zedd was one of my most powerful servants. However, I made the mistake of assigning him to Dark Specter
who without permission commanded him to come to Earth to aide the idiotic witch Rita Repulsa in capturing the planet. Zedd was wise though, and knew that I would never approve of his support for what I like to call the space trash of the Alliance. He got rid of her of course, but the witch wasn’t as dumb as I’d hoped. She outsmarted Zedd, giving him love potion,”

“Why didn’t you bring this to Lord Zedd’s attention?” the handmaiden asked.

The woman nodded. “Well, instead of causing more confusion.. I thought I‘d leave things be, of course Rita corrupted Zedd, and besides, it would further help my search on how the humans on the Earth react, and their techniques to the monster attacks of two idiots who should be working in the mines of Eltar instead of conquering the world. And it helped greatly,”

The handmaiden shrugged. “My lady, what did you mean when you said that the Power Rangers have been pawns in your master plan?”

“You’ll never stop asking questions,” the woman sighed. “Will you Atris? I guess I could tell you, my most trusted handmaiden, so if you must know. The universal analogy of good being unable to exist without evil is false, my dear. In fact, the creation of evil was based on one simple factor
the creation of the Morphing Grid,”

“The Morphing Grid?” the handmaiden asked. “Isn’t that the embodiment of good against evil?”

The woman shook her head at the handmaiden’s question. “That is only what those who have learned of the Morphing Grid know of it to be my dear. The creation of the Morphing Grid went against the wishes of the Universal council, but the pathetic Morphing Masters went along with their ideology of Universal Power that would further help the advancements of technology. But not only did they receive their much wanted universal power, they also received the creation of a darker force. And thus, the side of evil was born.”

“Do you consider yourself evil, my lady?” the handmaiden continued her questions.

The woman shrugged, unsure how to respond to her handmaiden. “I am the leader of the Alliance of Evil, am I not? You’ll soon realize that in our world, from our views, the definitions of what is good and evil are much different. You have much to learn Atris
and as you can now see, the more teams that connect to this universal power, the more evil will evolve from the source. It’s all apart of the prophecy told by the Morphing Masters before the last of them were destroyed in the war of good against evil which began well over ten thousand and thirteen years ago,”

The handmaiden shrugged. “I am unable to understand your meaning mistress,”

“Why do you think Zordon made sure that Rita Repulsa remained in her dumpster for all of these years? What choice did he have when she was released, other then to choose five teenagers and instruct them to save the world
but keep one important secret from them? If he had told them that by their meta-morph Isis, that they placed the Earth in danger even more so than it had been with Rita. The Morphing Grid attracts evil to its source, it draws them near. But I have said to much, and I must retire,”

“Where will you go?” Atris asked.

“I am sure there are many rooms in this palace for me to occupy,” the woman answered.

*****
Kira sat uncomfortably on the McKnight’s couch. She felt like everyone’s eyes were on her. Somewhere inside she knew they weren’t, but there was utter silence in the room. Connor sat across from her on a love seat, his twin brother Eric sat next to him. But they weren‘t hard to tell apart, Connor had shorter hair, something that Kira thought made him look mouth watery. Their parents had left them to reunite, and they were still waiting for Krista to return with her gift. Kira looked down at the box she held, she was ready to give it to Connor. “Conno-”

Kira was interrupted by Krista, who nosily entered the room. She pulled out a soccer ball causing horror to appear on Kira’s face. “Um hey honey,” she greeted Connor in that “sluttish cheerleader” type of voice. “I got this signed by Carlos V-something? He was at the Angel Grove Mall when I was Christmas shopping!”

“Oh my gosh!” Connor exclaimed, he grabbed the ball and examined every side. He turned to Kira. “Do you know who this is?”

Kira nodded weakly. “Only too well,” she whispered.

“Dude!” Eric cried. “That’s like a weird looking basketball!”

Connor gave his brother a glance, and turned back to Kira. “Isn’t it great?”

Uh no. Kira thought. “Yeah, it’s awesome,” Kira responded. Inside, she wanted to throw up she looked down at her box. She knew she couldn’t give it to him now, she knew that she could never tell him her feelings. No Kira. You have to at least tell him what you think. “Connor, can I talk to you?”” Suddenly, the house began to violently shake. Kira looked at Connor, because they knew this feeling. But couldn’t hit be the possibility of an earth quake. They had destroyed Mesagog hadn’t they? That’s been the lights went out.

Krista screamed loudly at the occurrences.

Here’s my chance. Kira said to herself. She hopped up and stumbled over to the seat where Connor and Eric had been sitting. She grabbed Connor’s hand and pulled him up. “Come with me,” she whispered.

“Wha?” Connor said. “Where are we going?”

Kira felt around for a doorknob. Finally grabbing one she opened the door and pulled Connor inside. She’d done her actions so quickly that she couldn’t believe it. She could tell that the room they were in was small, she figured that it was a closet, but the room didn’t matter. She needed to get Connor away from the watchful eyes of Krista
and she had to tell him her feelings before it was too late. “All right, listen,” Kira said. “I have some things I need to tell you,”

“Like why you pulled me into a closet?” Connor asked. “How about that?”

Kira shrugged in the darkness, unable to see the expressions on his face. “Listen
all right? There is no easy way for me to tell you this
but I’ve realized that I have feelings for you. Feelings that go beyond our friendship,”

“I see
” Connor responded. “Well, like I feel the same way about you. I mean you‘re cute, and you’re a good singer. I could see us getting together. So if you feel like that for me, and I feel like that for you that means I get to kiss you right?”

Kira gasped. She’d never pictured things happening the way they were. Sure they were working for her, but she still couldn’t believe it. “But what about Kris-” she stopped at the pressure of Connor’s lips against hers. Caught in the moment, she returned the kiss, the moment she’d been waiting for since the realization of her feelings.

The lights appeared back on as if it were magically daylight, and Kira could finally look upon the guy who she adored. She gasped in horror when she looked at Connor. “Oh my god,” she exclaimed.

“Do wah ditty!” exclaimed Eric McKnight. “Kiss me baby one more time!” he sang in tune.

“I’ve gotta go,” Kira exclaimed, her face bright red.

“But what about your love for me? Are you giving up on us that quick?” Eric exclaimed patting his heart.

Kira stuck her hand out towards the door knob to open the closet door, but Connor, the real Connor had already opened it. “Jeez guys,” he exclaimed. “Didn’t you know that we were supposed to stop playing seven minutes in heaven in ninth grade?” he joked.

“Ugh,” Kira stormed past him.

Connor looked up at his twin brother and shot him a high five. “Way to go bro, someone’s finally tamed the wild pterodactyl,” he cracked. Inside he was asking himself why Kira had been in the closet with his brother, and why they’d both been keeping it from him.

*****

“Atris!” the woman shouted, returning from her meditation. “What was that noise?”

The handmaiden cowered in fear, standing over the balcony of the moon palace, in front of a white skull with red eyes. “I’m sorry my lady,” she apologized. “I merely touched this skull, and it fired two energy lasers towards the earth,”

“You are a fool!” the woman exclaimed, she rushed over to her handmaiden and slapped her in anger. “If that attacked the planet, then we’ll have Power Rangers breathing down our noses. I am not prepared to attack yet. You may have ruined my master plan! Leave to your quarters, I do not wish to look at you,”

The handmaiden grabbed her scorching cheek, as tears flowed down them. She‘d never been physically touched by her mistress before, and she felt as if she wasn’t deserving of the attack. She entered her room and fell onto the bed. If the mistress is worried about the Power Rangers having an effect on her plan, then why does she claim that they are stoppable? The handmaiden thought.

Back in the throne room, the woman peered at the earth from the balcony of Zedd. She regretted for acting on Atris the way she had, but knew the girl was deserving of it. Soon earth. Soon. She said over and over in her mind. You will no longer receive what these humans have given you, and it is now time for you to serve your rightful ruler. “I will attack at midnight,” the woman spoke softly.
