Interesting News About MMPR Seasons 1-3

Tony Oliver heard through the grapevine that Disney plans to air the first 3 seasons of MMPR unedited and cleaned up. Discuss!

Interesting! But where? Unless .... this is what's going to take RPM's place in the ABC Kids block next year. But at two eps per week (not counting pre-empts), it'll take ~76 weeks to run all the episodes.

Very misleading, I thought there would be a DVD release or something.

And I heard about this from my Twitter update on my phone. Exciting news, but I'll wait until we hear official confirmation. This is no offense to Tyler since I consider him a friend.

Still, something to look forward to in the coming weeks.

Kinda stupid to clean up the episodes for air and NOT release them on DVD isn't it? All that effort just for preemption for sports?

Not entirely. Power Rangers and Super Sentai are not the same thing, and Kamen Rider and Masked Rider even less so.

Cool. My old MMPR tapes are of extremely poor quality these days so it'll be good to get fresh video and audio again.

If this is true, hopefully Disney will see how many fans follow the news and watch the episodes and decide to release DVDs...

What was edited from MMPR that's coming back? And how do they clean up something that had no distortion? Are they re-editing MMPR to be less choppy? Will season 2 and 3 not be so weird?

What? A guy can hope, can't he?

Headshots have been edited out of the series. Some violence has been cut in all airings on Disney.

Cleaning up the series could mean using better quality copies of the sentai footage to reduce the obvious cuts from US to Japanese fights.

This is not a fangasm, but a legitimate opinion: I think that's probably a safe bet. Disney doesn't want to spend the money to produce new episodes of PR...alright, we get it. But if they can rest on their laurels and broadcast what they've already paid money for, why not? The Super Legends product line (not just toys, but clothing, party supplies, etc) has been tested over the past years. I think we'll probably be seeing old merchandise rereleased where appropriate (morphers, zords), and maybe even new figures to coincide with the "new" season of PR.

In that case, I'm going to have to hope against you. I do not want my PR edited from what it was 15 years ago. Yes, I wear rose colored nostalgia glasses.

I can't imagine Disney going to that kind of work, to have somebody actually sit down and analyze the episodes for oddities, and try to edit them out. I imagine we're looking at a print cleaning. Surely not a digital remaster, but something to clean the prints up. The Zyuranger scenes were always grainy, and I'm sure the American prints have deteriorated somewhat too.

Well if Toei has already remastered Zyuranger-Kakuranger then they could just replace the fight scenes with the new ones provided by Toei.

Although thats only if Toei has done this already which I have no idea if they have.

i respect your opinion although theres no confirmation from disney that they are going to do this or not, i still believe that they are going make the american shinkenger, if there's a show or not, because i think bandai knows that there shinkenger fans in america and they cant afford the boj merchandise, so they are probably going to make it anyway,

however i hope that the disney or bandai has a way of reaching out to non-sentai/pr fans to buy the sentai american merchandise, like doing something similar to kamen rider dragon knight website promoting the dragon knight episodes then connecting the merchandise from bandai to that site.
