Power Rangers might NOT be ending. Don't Open Until PR 18 exists beyond just delusion

I believe something about this was mentioned in the "Power Rangers is dead" thread, but it deserves its own thread. Unless it already has one and I just didn't see it when I looked.

Despite some of the rumors circulating the web, the Power Rangers are not going away in 2010. Disney and Bandai America continue to be committed to the Power Rangers Brand. Disney is producing a Season 18 and Bandai America will continue to develop action figures and toys for fans and collectors of all ages.

In fact, Bandai America is asking fan’s to help choose the next Power Ranger chase figure through a poll with ToyFare. If you haven’t already done so, please vote at http://www.wizarduniverse.com/031209powerpoll.html

*sniff sniff* Says who?

This is the only report contradicting the numerous independent sources saying the contrary.

And keep in mind, the official Disney line is "no comment" on all this anyway.

Please give it a rest. Only report of it ending came from a fired PR(who probably was bitter) and a newspaper article that only said it was ending New Zealand not all together. Also I don't ever believe a word that comes out of power animals mouth.

When it comes to toy news AFI is always bang on.

If the series is linked to the toys and Bandai can convince Disney that the show can still pull in enough money it very well could hold on.

Besides, what's three (Pushing it to 20) more years?

Imagine how long they can milk the DVD set sales once a 20 year run has ended.

It's not that hard. In fact, there are two ways, one i came up with myself and one I read somewhere else.

My idea: The bad guys were sealed away with a single samurai (as in from Japan) to guard them. This makes it possible to use the kanji, etc, by merely saying the battle and powers originated in Japan.

The other one (who's creator escapes me): the Rangers are exchange students who have travelled to Japan and gotten involved in the battle. Again, the powers, etc originate in Japan, so the use of kanji and samurai is explained.

wow.

I suggest you go back and watch Hurricanger and see how well it was adapted to Ninja Storm. And Hurricanger had JUST as much Kanji and shit.

"Oh but they have to write kanji with the morphers"

They can CHANGE the transformation.

There was kanji ALL over Ninja Storm. ANd KIDS LOVE Ninjas and Samurai. There was Kanji ALL over the shogun zord. FUCK it's called teh SHOGUN megazord and looks like a samurai.

Look at how popular Naruto is right now.

kids will EAT UP shinkenger.

Do you not remember Bandai having some surveys asking if you like samurai and what not.

KoffeeKid's totally right. If a show about five ninja can be turned into a show about assisting aliens from the '80s that breathe water, a show about Samurai can certainly be turned into a show about Samurai with somewhat diluted Japanese influence.

Arguing that it can't be translated is moot. However, arguing that it shouldn't be is very much valid and encouraged.

Let's just live for the moment. RPM is just 4 episodes in and Shinkenger is 7 episodes in. I'm taking this news with a grain of salt, and concerning myself about PR 2010 when RPM ends and 2010 gets here.

although i dont even watch the new shows (the most recent episode ive seen is forever red) i personally want them to keep making new power rangers for years to keep it alive. i also am hoping that when i have kids and they watch whatever power rangers show is on at that time, i could then show them the original six seasons mmpr, mmar, prz, prt, pris.

If Power Rangers are coming back in 2010, that is good news. I hope that it's true. I guess I have to wait and see what Disney going to do.
