Once again, Dr. K adds some plausibility to the suits. They do have extra powers, but they sort of make sense, with the suits being prototypes. Also, that was a pretty clever plan of Venjix's to get T-7 onto the team, and Ziggy becoming a Ranger entirely by accident and being forced to adjust was something new. Though he goes about it anyway. Also, the mafia.
4/5, again. Everything makes sense and feels solid. This season truly is off to a great start.
- I was expecting Ziggy to be a ranger in the opening credits this time. Hmm. Odd.
- Wow. "America's Got Talent" parody? Didn't see that one coming. Ziggy really carried the whole thing. The whole segment could have been ridiculous but the way he delivered the lines made it genuinely hilarious. The stuff with the mime was extra awesome.
- More Dr. K explanations! Love it. Each suit has a special power. It's a new twist on the yearly genetic powers that makes them seem fresh again.
- Hey, more explanations for why Ziggy ran away and everyone hates him. Excellent. There are five cartels and the Scorpion Cartel just attacked him. It sounds like Ziggy has tons of debt. Very cool and very different for someone that ends up being deemed worthy of ranger status.
- Tenaya 7 is being used. It's a great plan by Venjix. Is it wrong of me to kind of like the idea that Green could be another female; villain or not?
- I'm not big on how Tenaya got busted. It seems like they shouldn't have gone with that plan if a couple of guards could bust her to the point where she'd reveal herself.
- The part where Tenaya explained herself only to get wiper fluid in the face was another genuinely funny scene. It's just so amazing since we've had so few of those scenes in recent years. The mask she puts on is a nice touch as well.
- Wow. The first time she whistled "The Farmer in the Dell" before helping Ziggy it seemed hopeful like a damned superhero was going to bust in. Now with her shadow against the sheets it's damned creepy. If that's always going to be her calling card then it's totally brilliant. (Ha! Ziggy called it her calling card about a minute after I typed that.)
- Answering the rhetorical question twice. Nice.
- Forget what I said earlier about Ziggy being deemed worthy of ranger status. Ziggy becoming a ranger basically by accident and because it was either him or the evil robot is definitely the right way to go. He could never meet the requirements so it had to happen this way.
- Ah! Human eyes inside the helmets. That took me aback.
- Great little ending as well with Ziggy talking about taking the uniform on dates.

From top to bottom I absolutely adored this episode. When it tried to be funny it was. When it tried to take things down a level and present a new threat it did that well. Tenaya 7 went from just existing to being a total badass in one episode. Ziggy got his focus and he carried it well. Even the sentai footage was used in just the right amount. It was good that they chose the footage they did so there was no need to rush Black or Green's zords.
This was the best episode of the series to date and that's saying a lot since the first three were all great in their own rights. This is most confident 5 out of 5 that I've given in a long ass time.
...I'm *never going to get "A-Hunting We Will Go" out of my head...but at least it supports my personal theory that androids have a thing for whistling...
Anyways, I missed the first 10 minutes of this ep because I overslept, so I'll better analysis when I watch it all. But man, this ep really makes me think Dillon/Summer shipping is entirely overrated and Ziggy's the real bottom in Dillon's life. >__>.
Just saying, he seems to really be overprotective of Ziggy...
Ziggy probably has one f the most unique ways to become a Power Ranger. Not knowing anything to do while being a Power Ranger was completely win. The team’s reaction towards him being a Power Ranger was so funy!
Ziggy’s WHAT THE FOOOO!!!! was priceless.
Tenaya is awesome! She truly feels like a villain. I think RPM’s weak point so far is not knowing anything substantial about each villain so at least she shows some improvement on that part.
Just saw it and I have to say I loved the episode. Ziggy is definately my favorite ranger not only this season but maybe ever. The way that he became a ranger was brilliant and the whole ranger auditions thing was just hilarious. 5/5
Well i just finished watching today's episode. I pretty solid episode today. Good plot, good fights, good action. I liked that the bad guys was trying the old lets get them from the inside trick with that 7 chick. The ranger auditions where a bit much but they served their purpose along with the mobsters after ziggy. The monster of the week was interesting and the growth process as we see for this season looks very interesting. I liked the instant morph on ziggy and his fighting style was pretty cool. I loved the reveal at the end of the episode to red, yellow, and blue boy where they shocked to see ziggy is now green. I do wonder when is green and black getting zords?
While little is known about the core three Rangers, this episode was a refreshing change of pace from the first three. Venjix infiltrating the Rangers' team is a pretty legitimate idea, Ziggy's mafia ties and unorthodox method of becoming a Ranger are things we've never seen, and the episode was paced very well.
Gotta love Ziggy accidentally becoming a ranger(infact everything he did in this episode was entertaining) and Venjix's plan to use Tenaya to infiltrate the rangers was pretty clever.
Ziggy morphing with no morphing sequence was a very minor letdown, but it was very much made up for a second later with him yelling "I don't want to be a ranger!"
All in all I liked the episode. I laughed, and I mean genuinely laughed, in a few places. Well worth my half hour.
One thing I don't understand though. Why is it the green morpher holds the base code for the DNA sequence of the other morphers?
And no, I don't think anyone other than a mad geek would find a spandex (Oh sorry, they're not spandex!) suit that appealing on a date.
How attracted is Mary Jane to Spider-Man, as opposed to Peter Parker? Lois Lane to Superman rather than Clark Kent? It isn't the spandex, it's the hero. The mystery. Much like Parker, Ziggy probably wouldn't have much of a chance any other way.
Anyone else in a 7:00-8:00 time slot area get a repeat of "Fade to Black" and "Rain" instead of "Rain" then "Go for Green"? Because that's what I got here in west coast Florida.
