Probably so the whole "two years per season" thing ends

I'm calling it now, Kelson's character is going to end up being the Lion.

Trouble is, Nick dropping PR wouldn't mean a return to one Sentai adapted every year. Instead, it would probably mean cancellation.

That seems to be a bit of a reach. It would be more reasonable to say that Saban would just twist arms and legs until another network took it.

I imagine it would be more like Saban and Toei twisting arms and legs.

We've discussed this many times before. What network(s) out there would take PR to give it more exposure than it has on Nickelodeon? Disney's the one company that really put PR in as many places as possible (ABC, Toon Disney, ABC Family, the Disney Store, their theme parks) for the brief time that they took off running with the franchise, so you couldn't escape it on TV. Saban couldn't get Power Rangers on Family when he owned it, yet Disney was able to when they owned it.

Now, look at the TV landscape: What network would take Power Rangers and let Saban have carte blanche to do the 42-episode-per-year adaptations that people are craving? Cartoon Network wouldn't pick it up. Discovery Family doesn't have the reach that is necessary. You can't really go for the digital over-air networks (MeTV and the like) because you'd alienate your non-cable viewers (satellite TV doesn't carry the over-air digital networks). Unless Saban tries his hand at starting his own network again, Nickelodeon's the best option we've got right now, short of going direct-to-Netflix.

I agree with all of this. There isn't any other networks you can put PR on these days. The only option is Saban Brands putting it's tail between it's legs and going back to Disney which wouldn't be a bad thing as long as Saban Brands is producing it.

Unfortunately, MegaBlue is right - there aren't any!

Isn't that network also part-owned by Hasbro? That would be another problem.

Even if there was another network to carry the show, they'd still do it in such a dragged out manner for the seasons. That is the standard amongst children's programming these days.

I know it has been a recurring topic, but I just dislike that policy, not only because some Sentai adaptations will be skipped, but because it seems to me that the only place where the "2-year season" rule is in place applies to US.

Here, we get 2 episodes per week, meaning it is exhausted already after 10 week. It's a periodic thing to show on other countries like a special rather than a weekly mainstay it was before because of the rule. I am not sure why they would think it would be wise to watch unending reruns everytime (seeing that Nick only produces a part of PR), but it is affecting other countries who don't have that issue.

Disney Channel and Disney XD air shows this way, too. Hell, season 2 of Gravity Falls aired over the course of nearly two years.

Live action shows do at least seem to air within the year for around 20+ episodes.

I believe it. The amount of Spongebob episodes already in existence are each ratings-worthy. The dedication isn't as needed anymore, just leave reminders of your existence in sporadic bits. There's always a new generation willing to sit down to any episode, unfortunately.

This works for Spongebob as it's entirely episodic. Shows that require continuity, telling an ongoing story, cannot sustain themselves with this formula, Power Rangers or otherwise.

Does Netflix allow for longer episodes counts?
Here's a list of kids shows exclusive to Netflix.

Most of them only seem to get 6 to 13 episodes per a season. (Although it's not clear if they show more than one season per a year).
Even still, it looks like moving to Netflix would cause the episode count to fall.

I think Saban's Popples was on Netflix and it got 5 episodes in 2015 and then 20 episodes in 2016, which is a lot less than 2 years of PR on Nickelodeon.
