No, this is not related to the DaVinci Code.

Some of you hay have heard of something called The Geek Code (http://www.geekcode.com/). it's been around since 1993, though it hasn't been updated since 1996. There's a lot of spinoffs of the Geek Code that have popped up around the Net over the years, including goth and furry codes. For those unfamiliar with the Geek Code or its knockoffs, it's a block of code that seems like computer programming at first look, but in reality details everything about your personality, lifestyle, computer knowledge, and geek-level. People familiar with the code can look at your own personal Geek Code and tell at a glance (or after backchecking against the webpage) all about you.

I was goofing around, browsing the Geek Code site in nostalgia yesterday morning when it hit me. It's been almost 15 seasons since PR started. With as many Geek Code parodies as there are out there, why hadn't anyone made a PR one? Of course, someone may very well have made one and I just didn't know. But at any rate, I decided to sit down and come up with one. I thought it would be a fun ride, and would be something to waste an hour of my morning with before I sat down to watch Kamen Rider Kabuto 28.

Twenty hours later, I'm just now finishing the full design for v1.1 and the associated webpage that explains it all. I haven't gone to sleep yet, and I don't know what the hell I was thinking. But here it is.

http://www.rangerwiki.com/prcode.php

The code is designed somewhat similar to the Geek Code, but also borrows from a Sonic the Hedgehog-based code that was made some time ago. But it works the same way theoretically. People familiar with the code can look at your own personal PR code, and tell at a glance what your favorite seasons, episodes, and characters are, how much money you've spent on toys and DVD's, what aspects of the fandom you're involved in, whether you've been to cons and met show actors, and so on. Ideally, you can place this code in your e-mail/message board signatures or AIM/LJ profiles so that everyone can see what type of a fan you are.

I also realize that people are, in general, too lazy to want to sit and decode everybody else's PR Code by hand to figure out what type of fan they are, so I also included an automatic decoding script on that page. You can take someone else's code, put it in a text box on that page, hit the Submit button, and get a detailed explanation of everything about their PR-lifestyle in seconds. Making that script is actually what kept me up the full 20 hours; the code itself only took me about 2 or 3 hours to design.

So anyways, check the page out, have fun making your personal code, and spread the word. Also, if you have any suggestions for useful categories to add, feel free to let me know. My own code, for the record, is:
PRv1.1 Gm A! Lnc K! Rn Wd S09 E475 C04kh++s C12ej+i B++lacrpo Dbfrwo $!

And now, it's time for me to grab a quick breakfast and then get some f'ing sleep.

Quite cool, although there were a few errors. The first two characters you placed in there you only had one initial for... I'm assuming you meant Mike Corbett? Not sure whether you meant Sky or Syd for the second.

The last category made me laugh. Hard.

The "m" was meant to be Maya. But I didn't know what to put for her. And the "s" for the second one was meant to be "Sam". Didn't know exactly what to do for people with only one name.

People with one name work like most of the villains; you use the first two letters of their one name, but capitalize the second letter. So Maya would be mA, and Sam would be sA.

BluebrotherX7, people will be able to decode yours manually, but it won't work in the auto decoder because you need to separate seasons, episodes, characters, and the like, the same way you seperated your pairings. At any rate, you sure have a lot of liked episodes. :P

Ah, that's much better. And now I understand why you've got so many liked episodes: multiparters. :P

Thanks for fixing it! I only did jS cus I didn't want Lt. Jerome Stone in the code I knew it was js but wanted to not have the wrong name in my code!

NOW I have 2 that don't work Justin Stewart, Ryan Mitchell don't work. If I do js for Turbo I get Lt. Jerome Stone. And Austin St. John doesn't work for ZEO And there just to many Episodes for me to list that I like. Xb

This is an awesome thing! Here's my code:

PRv1.1 Gm A- Lmi K-- H* R-- Wtd S02 S06 S09 S12 S13 S14 E? As far as my code is concerned, Justin Stewart (turbo) doesn't work, Merrick (wf) doesn't work, Ryan (lr) doesn't work, and Austin St. John doesn't work for Zeo...At least with the letters I'm using. ^^

Justin isn't working for either of you because you both capitalized the initial of his last name. You only capitalize when they have one name only. So Justin is "js", not "jS". I changed Jerome Stone to "je" so as not to conflict with either Justin or Jason.

Merrick, Ryan, and Austin in Zeo should work now; they had errors in the PHP code that just slipped by without me noticing. Thanks for pointing out the errors; generally I can fix them pretty quickly when they pop up.

Thanks for fixing it! And I know of the mishap with Justin, I was only putting jS to see if that would work, and so if people copied my code and read it, they wouldn't be thinking I see elements of myself in Lt. Stone. Xb

Thanks again, this really is neat.
