Hey guys this is my first attempt, somthing from my own mind. MMPR ended with the rangers defeating Zed and Rita. Zeo never happened. Let me know what you think.

Episode 1: An Old Power Reborn

A young man in his early twenties stands in front of a console filled with flashing lights and switches. Sweat and a generous amount of dirt covers his sun-tanned skin and short brown hair. Squinting to see in the small amount of light provided by a hole in the ceiling, he finds exactly what he was searching for as the console hisses and a drawer slides out. He picks up a metal box from the drawer and opens it revealing five coins shining in the dim light. “I can’t believe they’re still here, after everything that’s happened….” He says to himself. He quickly closed the box and slipped it into a bag and started his climb up the rubble to the hole in the roof of the chamber.

I didn’t know how the Power Chamber was destroyed or what became of the occupants. My name is Rick and by standards I’m just a normal guy with a normal life, well at least it used to be. I had heard rumors of the Power Rangers years ago and just only a few months ago, I found out exactly how real the stories all were.

**Several years have passed since the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers protected the earth from the evils of Zed and Rita and as mysteriously as it all began, things ended and the multi-colored force was never seen again. It was released in the news that a base was discovered out in the middle of the desert of California, nothing more than a pile of rubble with a large underground chamber. Scientists and researchers alike were preparing a large excavation of the area to find out what exactly it once was. Rick found out about the discovery while visiting his uncle at UCLA. His uncle, a professor of American history, was contacted by a government group interested in the history of that specific area. They asked a lot of specific questions and were very tight lipped until he signed a confidentiality agreement. His uncle was the first civilian to be taken to the site and was just amazed and puzzled at everything he saw. He told Rick all about it in confidence and was visibly excited, rambling about the possibilities of advanced alien technology and other insane predictions. Rick knew that he had to see if this could possibly be the remains of the Ranger base.**

Climbing out and crouching at the edge of the entrance hole, I started to roll my climbing rope up. My mind flashed back to several months ago, a strange encounter with a man that stopped in looking for me at the EMS station I volunteer with. This man said that he was friends with my parents years ago and that he had heard of they’re untimely death. He spoke of a time when my parents had given more of themselves than ever expected and how they aided those involved in events that were bigger than themselves. He knew from my expression and responses that I didn’t believe him and was very uncomfortable. My parents led normal lives to my knowledge and I would have known if anything major happened as he claimed. Instead of clarifying himself and telling me more he just smiled and handed me a wooden box. He told me that my father had guarded this and the secret with it, took it to his grave just as he swore that he would. The man told me that it now belonged to me if I chose to accept the responsibility; he didn’t expect me to believe what he told me. He told me that when it was time to act, I would know what to do. He said that a hidden base of power will be eventually found. Power would be in jeopardy of falling into hands that couldn’t be trusted. This responsibility was chosen for me just after my birth. The man had then turned his back to me and started to leave, I heard him say with a voice just barely above a whisper, “Those before you didn’t ask for greatness, it came to them. They went on faith at first, and fully believed in their cause with all of themselves. If you need confirmation in my story, visit the man that raised you in his image, look at where he lies with your mother. It is there that you will see what you need to see.”

After that, the man walked out the door and into the night. Leaving me shocked and confused, I finished my shift and went home. I didn’t open the box that night; I carried it with me to my parent’s grave in a little cemetery outside their old neighborhood. I didn’t know what the man meant by any of what he said, especially how he referred to my father. “The man who raised you in his image, look at where he lies with your mother.” I had not been back to the grave since the funeral and never really paid much attention to it then. I was too devastated and was concerned with comforting my two younger brothers who had just started college. I looked at the grave stone that day that my uncle had bought according to the specifications in the will. He thought it very unusual at the time, but I didn’t think much about it. There was a design on the center that I didn’t recognize. It looked like a footprint of some kind of animal, maybe a message from my parents, who lived, breathed, and sometimes slept around studying animals and teaching at the local university. As I said, nothing unusual could be expected from nerdy professors who spend most of their free time in a zoo. I sat down under a tree at the grave and began to open the box.

It was a dark wooden box with velvet lining inside. All that was inside was a gold coin and some kind of metal holder for it, the words were faded to the point I couldn’t read them. It appeared really battered and worn. The coin was in perfect condition and had the same animal print on it that was on the grave stone. I was speechless and had absolutely no idea what it was or what I should do with it. I picked up the coin and I felt a surge of energy flow through my body. The coin started to glow green around the edges and black in the center and then almost immediately everything stopped. It looked just as it had before I picked it up and other than all my hair sticking up on end I felt almost the same. Rather disturbed at all of it I quickly placed the coin into its metal holder and it started to glow again. In a sudden panic I dropped it back into the box and slammed the lid. Quickly got up and looked at the grave. “What the hell did you get me into and why didn’t you tell me!” I yelled at the stone. I ran back to my jeep and started to drive off. I thought I saw someone out of the corner of my eye at the edge of the woods watching me leave, but when I looked that way I didn’t see anyone. For the next month I didn’t open the box and didn’t speak about what happened. I almost forgot it all really did happen until my uncle invited me out for a week to California. I saw the box in my drawer when I was packing, for some reason I tossed it into my bag. I didn’t want it with me, but I didn’t want my girlfriend to find it. So that leads me to right now, standing on the lip of the cavern below pulling up my climbing rope and wrapping it up.

My uncle had explained to me how they had the area guarded with cops patrolling the only road and a few on post around the site itself. Since nobody had shown any interest in it yet, they weren’t really on their top game. Slipping by wasn’t hard I took my uncle’s truck and parked it at a gas station that was closed about a mile away from the road blocked. I then hiked two miles through the desert in darkness, fortunate that the moon was in its stage that resembled a thin thumbnail and not giving off a lot of light. I had borrowed my uncles hand held GPS tool, which he almost never uses, and found the location. Two guards were positioned at the bottom of the hill in a little tent; it appeared that they were occupied listening to a radio and having a loud and vulgar conversation. I slipped in and it was as if I was on auto pilot. I found a console and it scanned my hand for identification. It lit up and I hit several buttons and found apparently what I was looking for. I quickly slipped back out and re-assessed my cover. Nothing had changed; the guards were still laughing and cussing. A few lights by the roadblock a mile off were new since I had entered, but they are stationary though. I palmed the box and opened up using a small LED flashlight to look inside. The five coins shimmered and I saw the same metal holders with them and a metal ball with a button on it. I pulled it out and packed the wooden box with the coins in my pack.

I used the GPS to find the right direction I needed to leave. Then I pressed the button on the ball and it a light on it started to slowly flash red and gradually get faster. I tossed it into the hole and started to run as fast as I could down the hill and away from the site. I started back the way I had came and hopped over bushes. My mind racing with thousands of thoughts, what was that I had just thrown into that site and was that the ranger base? What is going to happen now and what am I supposed to do with these coins? How did I know how to access everything in the ruins and how did I instinctively know everything I knew? Am I dreaming? I slipped under the fence at the edge of the check point and was spotted by a cop who was using a bush for a toilet. He yelled for me to stop as he rushed to finish what he had been doing. Just then a loud explosion went off in the distance and the ground shook under the tremendous force of the explosion. Every cop at the roadblock raced to their cruisers and sped off towards the blast, well all of them except the one that had been relieving himself at the bush. He apparently didn’t have a car and just stood shocked staring me. “What did you do?” he gasped. I just looked at him the ski mask hiding my face only revealing my lips and eyes. “Only what I had to do, to protect everyone.” I spun on my heels and started to run again. The cop didn’t follow me or attempt to stop me, just stood there for a minute and then turned to look off at the visible smoke pouring up from the hill in the distance. I got to the truck as several cops went blasting by sirens blaring and lights flashing. I didn’t see anything else but black in the distance so I started driving off. I didn’t see anyone until I reached the Interstate. A few cars were in my lane of traffic headed to L.A., yet all I could see in the oncoming lanes of traffic were cops and black SUVs flying by. I pulled up at my uncle’s house and took everything into the house. I changed in the guest room and replaced all the gear I had used to my uncles closet in his rec room. He was sitting on the couch watching T.V. and didn’t look at me when I walked in. He suddenly spoke when I had closed the closet and walked over to him. “It’s all over the news; an explosion out in the desert, nothing else has been released.” He said weary eyed. “Even woke the governor up at 2 a.m. and had him make a statement.” “Where was it?” I asked, despite having witnessed it first hand, “Anyone hurt?”.

He finally looked at me and shook his head. “They haven’t said other than it was out in the middle of the desert. I have a feeling it was the alien site. The news said that nobody but local cops were out there and only two of them were rushed to the hospital. Said they were fine except a few scrapes and bruises from the force of the blast.” I turned to walk away and my uncle got up and turned off the T.V. and looked at me. “On a different note, where have you been all night and with my truck and my very expensive Columbia sportswear ski jacket?” I Grinned at him and said “Old man, you know we southern boys aren’t used to the chilly nights here. Plus, I met a few frat boys while I was on campus visiting you and they invited me to a party. It’s not like I’m underage anymore and It’s been so long since I’ve had any fun.” I knew playing the dead parents card would work, despite having to stoop that low. He quickly stepped back and put his hand on my shoulder “I’m not upset with you Rick, in fact I’m proud that your doing so well with everything, you’ve had it rough and had to grow up really fast. It hasn’t been easy for you recently and everything now on your plate. That’s why I flew you out here this week, I’m too far away to help you with the day to day things, but I can still make sure that you’re coping and not throwing away the life you had built for yourself before everything changed with the accident. You and your brothers are legally adults now so as your god parents your aunt and I couldn’t legally adopt you and move you out here, nor did any of you want to move here and live with us.” This was true, I had my job and life back home and a lot to manage with my parents unfinished projects and financial obligations.

I’d just moved back into my parents’ house with my girlfriend and took care of the dogs and things there. My two younger brothers had just started their freshman year of college about 4 hours away from home. They had been home for fall break when everything happened. They stayed a couple of weeks and worked it out with the university so they could take some time off. After a while we all sat down and talked about it and they went back to school. They seemed to be coping as best as they could, but there wasn’t any reason they should hang around. I told them that they could decide whether to transfer to the local university when summer came. I said goodnight to my uncle and went to the guest room, I hadn’t sat down to actually come to terms with everything that has happened or digest all of what I had found out about my parents. How did I know what to do at the site? Its as if a wealth of information has been added to my brain. I’ve been saying things and doing things instinctively, things I haven’t ever done before. I sat on the bed and went over everything in my mind. I set the two boxes in front of me and closed my eyes and prayed for guidance. After a while I finally slipped into a restless slumber.

*Moon’s Surface*

*A large base has been constructed on the dark side of the moon. Complete with artifical atmospheric systems and artificial gravity equal to the earth’s.*

A dark figure walks at a steady pace down the corridor to the main chamber. You can see a hint of silver armor at every step when his cape moves aside. He approaches a large throne in the center of the chamber. The chamber is dim with maps of the earth all over the walls complete with topography and populations. The figure sits heavily on the throne and leans his staff against the arm rest. Two figures enter the chamber and bow before him. “Where did that fool Lord Zed fail…we shall take that first. Focus our attacks in different regions of the North American continent first. After they fall to us, the others will surrender or face the same fate.” The booming voice of the dark lord echos in the chamber. The two figures before him rise, “Master, we will start planning our first strike. We have not detected any sign of the force that defeated Zed’s army.” the first one says timidly. “Keep searching, I sense a faint trace of something I cant place. Dismissed.” The master says as he leans back and rests his head. The two peons scurry from the room and out of sight. Zordon wouldn’t leave this planet defenseless would he? He thought to himself as he studied the map of North America from his throne.

I started to read this but couldn't.That really big chunk of words needs to be broken up a bit. Its like staring at a magic eye. I keep thinking something is going to pop out at me.

In your universe zed and rita were defeated. How because they were never defeated in the show they just ran away because of the machine empire. Then they reappear for a few eps. Then they are just gone again till divatox calls them for help and are seen for five mins. Then they are in the c2d and turned human by the energy wave. (that was just fn retarded they should have just ashed like everything else. By them becoming human they were either human before or became it which means zordons good gave them a second chance at life. almost rewarding them.)

Yeah sorry, I guess i do need to make it more reader friendly. The whole explanation of how rita and zed were defeated will be coming up. I'm going to try and lay everything out more as it moves along. There will be differences in the rangers this time. Modifications would be a good word for it. I'll try to post the rest of the episode in the next day or so. This first episode will be kind of long to set everything up and explain everything.

The universe i am trying to create is what I really wish had happened in the show. I hated all the suits after MMPR ended. Zeo was just awful, and I was pissed that they just played the green ranger out like they did. The rangers were refered to more as what color they were versus where their power came from. For example the dragon coin gives the green ranger (dragon ranger) his power. The transitions to zeo and such was awful too.

To help clear things up... Zed and Rita were defeated by the MMPR but Its not know how yet. The command center was destroyed for some reason and nobody knows what happened to the rangers, much less alpha and zordon.

I hated all the villians after zed and killing rita off was a pleasure, so the villians coming are going to be new and truely evil.

So far only 6 power coins have been re-introduced and the power being returned to the dragon coin will be explained. I would love any criticism or input anyone has to offer.

I edited the first episode for easier reading. Please let me know if that helps or any way I can improve ease of reading

Episode 1A: The Power Awakens

I quickly sat up in the bed as I head some noise coming from outside. I quickly slipped on my shoes and slid over to the window. I could see a man sitting on a stump in the backyard. I couldn’t see who it was in the moonlight, but he kept tossing pebbles at my window. I was half in a panic and the other half curious so I snuck downstairs and out the back door. As I approached the man he smiled at me and I immediately recognized the face of the man who had sought me out and started this whole mess.

”You have some explaining to do.” I said as I stared him down, my eyes straining to make out his facial expression in the moonlight. “Your right, I do, but all in good time.” He said, “Meet me in 72 hours, at memorial park, just outside of your home town. Time is running out, it has already begun.” I watched him get up as I looked at the map he had handed me. “What has begun?” I asked. He sighed and looked up at the moon, “A war that will decide the fate of an entire planet and people. A fight for our very lives….” With that he turned and started away. “Wait!”, I yelled, “Who are you?” He didn’t even break his stride and never said another word.

** Wooden cabin, rural Colorado**

Jason Scott looked much older than his 28 years, stress and battles had worn him down over the years. The events unfolding over the past year alone had taken more of a toll on him than any of the others before. He walked to the edge of his bed and shed his coat and sat down. He picked up a remote from the night stand and pressed a button, a wall mounted monitor went on with a slight hum. Slowly an image of hazy face appeared on the screen. Jason knew that face well, the face of his mentor Zordon. Dispite losing the command center, Zordon was able to escape the distruction and relocate himself temporarily in a safe location until a new base could be created. He is able to communicate with Jason from his time warp via his temporary bases’ computer systems. Unfortunately he no longer has the assistance of Alpha 5, who perished in the destruction of the command center. “Zordon, I fear we might be running out of time and we wont be ready when this threat finally presents itself. We know too little and we don’t have a ranger team. Now that we have all of the coins, with the exception of the White Tiger Coin, we can start to assemble a team, but with…” Jason paused for a minute to compose himself, which he always had to do when he got choked up talking about his friends. “without the others…we don’t have any rangers.”

The wise sage appeared solem from the large monitor display, but his voice carried the intensity it always had. “Jason I know it has been rough for you, but you have to remember, all of you had never dreamed of the task I set before you that day when you stood before me the first time. We will forever feel the loss of your teammates and we will bring justice to the terror tactics that brought them to their untimely end. For now we have to focus on starting over and fighting this new aggressor. You were the fortunate one, and despite the damage you sustained in the attack on you. You are going to have to take a big part in this team. I cannot be with you all right now and It will be up to you to mentor this new team. I’m going to send you all the information you will need and a list of ranger candidates. You will need to meet with them and inform them of the present situation and the duty that lies before them if they choose to accept this task. Remember, this decision is up to them and you do have an ace in your pocket. I’ve had you working on Rick for a reason. He comes from an extraordinary past of which he is just coming to terms with. The Dragon coin will only respond to his bloodline and the new dragon powers are not those that your familiar with. Tommy was able to only utilize a fraction of the potential power, with the research and discoveries I have come across since the dragon coin was rediscovered I’ve learned much about it and I’ve used that knowledge to strengthen the other ranger powers. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to come close to making them like the Dragon. When Rita burned the green candle down and it appeared that she had destroyed the dragon powers we had thought it lost. It was until I researched more into the origin of the powers during this recent time of peace that I discovered the bloodline and how it was hidden right with us.”

Jason let all of this sink in… “Seem kind of crazy, as usual. I had already discovered a summary of your research on logs I had backed-up just before the command center was attacked. I have to admit it sounds very Davinci codeish. Nevertheless, I found the dragon coin right where it said it was, I brought it to Rick and followed everything else you had outline to the dot, as I will with this next assignment. Do you know when we will have use of the temporary base and teleportation function?”

“Within the next 24 hours, a new alpha unit from eltar has been taking care of everything.” His hazy face didn’t show it, but Jason detected a hint of sorrow in the sage’s voice. “I will communicate to him before I leave full communication range and have him expecting you and your new ranger candidates. I have sent the coordinates to your communicator. Go now Jason, rest, war comes too soon as it is. May the power protect you and your new team.”

“..and may the power protect you, Zordon. I wish you a quick return.”

Jason switched off the monitor and laid back on his bed and closed his eyes. Sleep came to him easier than it had in the recent months…his dreams still just as disturbed.

** California**

Rick hugged his uncle and aunt goodbye as he prepared to board his flight back to Charlotte, North Carolina. He had to take care a few minor things before the deadline the mysterious man had given him, which was only a day away. He had already called and quit his job, making up a story for his captain which really wasn’t question considering it was widely known about the death of his parents. With all that he inherited it wasn’t as if he had to work anyway and apparently he inherited a lot more than he originally knew of too.
The next day, he waited as instructed in memorial park. He sat on a bench by the pond and watched the man approach him and sit next to him. “Rick, I feel its time we officially met. I am Jason Scott, the original Red Power Ranger. I believe by your being here that you accept the cards you’ve been handed and are willing to face this task head on?” They sat silent for a minute and then Rick turned to him. “Where do I sign?”

The words had not slipped from his lips when a band of black faceless creatures surrounded the two men sitting on the bench. The two rangers jumped to their feat and braced for a battle. Eight creatures surround the two men apparently toying with them at first. Suddenly, one of them lunged at Jason landing a punch to his chest, knocking him over with an amazing force. Rick threw a kick back at the attacker and barely made an impression on him. Jason popped up and glanced at Rick, “It’s time for you to morph, point your morpher to the sky and call out for the dragonzord as you press the button on the morpher.” They both evaded attacks from the black rock like goons and rolled clear.
Jason proceeded to try and fight the few that attacked at them while Rick grabbed his morpher from his back pocket and pointed it at the sky.

**DRAGONZORD!**
Suddenly, bright flashes of light surround Rick as energy tears out of his body and covers his body light lightning. He feels as if his muscles are ripping apart and reforming. He instantly feels stronger and more agile, the energy is replaced with a suit that looks almost like a dull armor with a dark green almost black color. A helmet covers his face of the same color with a black visor over his eyes, his vision through the visor is enhanced more than his senses can comprehend at first. A golden shield covers his chest and wraps around his back, with a dragon print in the center of the diamond. Gold cuffs wrap around his biceps and the tops of his boots. His morpher centers his waist as a buckle and a holster with a dagger at his side.

When the blinding light dissipates from around him after what felt like minutes, mere seconds had past and the creatures were cowering shielding their eyes. Jason too had been shielding his eyes. The Dragon Ranger stood before the creatures rushing with a power he had never felt before. They all rushed to attack him at once forgetting about Jason. The Dragon Ranger responded instinctively, countering all of their attacks, landing blow after blow, sending them all down. One beast lunged at him and the Dragon Ranger responded by sending his fist through his chest, sending the beast crumbling to rock like pieces which slowly melted away. One by one he destroyed them all. When the last one fell, he demorphed and leaned against a tree.

“What a rush.” Rick said as he smiled at Jason.
Jason was smiling too, “Yet, you didn’t become consumed with the power and only used it until while you had to. My master was right about you. Now that we’ve officially met some of our enemies face to face we know what we’re up against…..sort of. What they were, I don’t exactly know. For now we have work to do and a team to build.”

They grabbed their packs and headed out of the park.

Pretty good. I have noticed a few gramatical things that could be easily corrected. One more thing. I noticed this part of a sentence "with the research and discoveries we have discovered since the dragon coin was rediscovered" the sentence works, but it uses "discover" alot causing the sentence to not flow like it should. There a few spelling errors, but those are easily corrected too. Overall it's a good story. keep up the good work.

Ok, I should have the next part and end of chapter 1 finished by the begining of next week. I'll try have it up by no later than middle of next week.
