Yeah, once again, the flux in my collection has reached critical mass, and spawned a whole bunch of toyporn. Check out the whole thing here:

And feast your eyes on some teasers:

ooh, i saw some of your pics over on robot japan the other day...nice stuff.

what paint/colors do you use for the customs? Wouldn't mind making myself a custom thunder megazord like you've got there.

Are there times when you need to hide your collection away then?

Nope, but if you click on the pic here, you can see the bigger version on my page.

Thanks! :D I use a base of black spray primer and then spray clear coat, then I just use hobby paints (Reaper Miniatures-- Dragon Black, Dragon Gold, Truesilver, and Steel Plate are the big ones), then a brush-on clearcoat. The big thing is having a #0 and #1 screwdriver to disassemble the pieces-- I do one portion of each individual zord/mech at a time so I don't get confused as to what goes where when I try to reassemble them. Also, masking tape, a hobby/x-acto knife, and a hell of a lot of patience-- masking the parts you don't want to paint over really helps a lot.

I like the fact that I can keep it subtle. I don't have a dedicated collection room, so with stuff in closets and cabinets, I can show them off or hide them away as I see fit. And with the doors closed, it kind of preserves the room aesthetic.

Besides, I'm, like, *old.* Not all my friends are as geeky as I am, and it prevents my wife from rolling her eyes at my collection more often than she does. :023:

Thanks! There are a few megazords I wouldn't mind giving the black and silver treatment...once i finish the custom jumbo I'm working on right now, I'll give it a shot:)

Just curious, would you ever considering doing a black redeco on commission? And if so, how much? I ask because a LOT of people would kill to have a Lifeforce Megazord in their collection

I generally don't bother with stuff that Bandai has done themselves... I got my black Max Victory Robo off YJ, and I certainly won't be able to do nearly as good a job as they already have. I did a couple of the Power Animals (GaoElephant, GaoRhinos), Omega Megazord, Storm Lightning Megazord (just kind of for the hell of it), MMPR Thunder Megazord, and I've done numerous Samurai Stars for myself and other people with the black Gouraisenpuujin set. I will definitely take commissions on Samurai Stars if people want 'em.

PM me. It'll help if you've already got a Samurai Star set, but I should be getting my hands on one in the near future anyway.
