‘The Mutiny Part 1’


The crowds milled around the contestants and were starting to annoy one very large teen and his very thin friend.

‘I hate crowds Skull,’ Bulk began. “They give me no attention.” Skull was laughing his head off at his friend’s predicament.

‘Yeah me too,’ he said stopping the laughter.

Tommy sat down on his ATV along with Jason, Kimberly, Trini and Zack. Billy stood on the sidelines while Jason tried to persuade him.

‘Come on Billy,’ Jason said, trying to get his friend and team mate to take part in the competition.

‘I’m afraid I must decline Jason. Racing ATV’s is not what I’d rather be doing with my time. Good luck though guys.’

‘Thanks man!’ Said Tommy, revving up the engines as Kimberly sat behind him. Jason started his ATV as Zack sat behind. Richie ran up to the teens and sat down behind Trini.

‘Besides,’ Billy continued. ‘I’ve already asked someone to take my place.’ The others greeted Richie, but not as much as Trini, whose cheeks had gone bright red. Kimberly nudged Tommy’s shoulder and pointed.

‘What?’ He mouthed silently, as Kimberly rolled her eyes. ‘She’s in love.’ She mouthed back. ‘Oh!’ He replied. The teen’s attention was captured by Mr Kaplan’s announcement.

‘Alright kids, rev your engines and let’s start these Motor Rally Championships.’ He said, taking a flare gun and firing. Unfortunately for him he didn’t raise the gun high enough and the flare shot off with his toupee hanging off the end. The contestants of the competition revved up the ATVs, while the crowds began laughing at Mr Kaplan’s wigless head. The teens took off in the predetermined route and began to race for the title of The Motor Rally Champions 1994.

Rita Repulsa stood on her balcony and watched, through the Repulsa Scope, the power teens racing around a track in the middle of the countryside. She began to laugh wickedly as she grabbed the staff that stood next to her throne. She’d had a major re-decoration of her palace. The walls were now a reddish orange colour, while a stone throne sat in the middle of the room, on a large pedestal.

‘I’ll show those kids not to mess with my plans. In the past year they’ve defeated me, but I’ll show them. Goldar,’ she shouted the name of her general, who came walking in with his great big broad sword.

‘What ever you ask, my Queen I shall do.’ Goldar boomed. He knelt in front of the throne, which Rita now occupied. She was about to reply when the Castle shook violently. Goldar threw himself out of harms way, while Rita fell to the floor. A gigantic blue cloud floated in front of the castle’s balcony, and a face began to fill the centre. It was red and sported a silver visor and wore a face mask of the same colour. A spike ran from the top of the mask and ended in a ‘Z’, Rita looked on in terror, as the face began to speak.

‘Rita Repulsa! You have failed me, I have come to take over your position and destroy the Power Rangers.’ Rita struggled to get up from the floor, and began to ramble on.

‘I have yet to find a monster worthy enough of…’ Rita was cut off from her sentence by the head.

‘Your feeble excuses mean nothing to me. You will spend the rest of your days in the dumpster from whence you came.’ The head continued.

‘No spare me, my Lord. I can help you to overcome those pesky teenagers.’

‘NO!’ The head shouted. ‘You have been unable to destroy a group of six teenagers you are not worthy to clean the ground my feet stand on.’ The head turned to Goldar, who stepped back slightly. ‘Goldar, prepare the Palace for my arrival.’

‘Yes my Lord.’ Goldar said bowing.

Alpha 5 scurried around the computer terminals of the Command Centre, worrying as much as a robot can. Energy began to surge into the blue cylinder at the end of the room. Zordon’s head appeared inside the cylinder. As he spoke he startled Alpha.

‘ALPHA, I HAVE LOCATED THE SURGE OF THE EVIL ENERGY. IT IS AS I FEARED, LORD ZEDD HAS ARRIVED.’ Alpha began to worry even more than he was already.

‘Ay yi yi yi, not Lord Zedd. The Rangers will never be able to defeat him.’ Alpha was now running around the Command Centre, shouting ‘Ay yi yi yi.’

‘ALPHA, YOU MUST CALM DOWN. CONTACT THE RANGERS AND HAVE THEM TELEPORT HERE IMMEDIATELY.’

‘Yes Zordon. Ay yi yi yi.’ Alpha opened up the communications link between the Command Centre and the Rangers. He turned to the Viewing Globe and watched as Tommy and Kim continued onwards with the race. Jason and Zack didn’t answer either, the same with Trini. Alpha then discovered the Trini couldn’t answer because of the young man sitting behind her. He turned to Zordon.

‘Zordon, I can’t communicate with the Rangers. They can’t hear their communicators.’

‘DO NOT WORRY ALPHA 5. WE WILL FIND A WAY. KEEP TRYING.’

The Moon Palace shook violently as the throne began to change. Its back was to Goldar, and as he watched he noticed a ‘Z’ carve itself into the back of the stone chair. Suddenly the throne began to turn and Goldar was the first to clap eyes on the Lord of Evil’s body. His entire structure was red muscle, supported by a silver endoskeleton. A snake curled itself around the backs of his shoulders. Lord Zeddus Zaphourius had arrived.

‘Lord Zedd, I welcome you to your new Palace.’ Zedd stood up and began to walk forward. The snake began to hiss slowly as Zedd held it in his arms. He raised the reptile into a vertical position and it changed suddenly into a silver staff, which ended in a spike. A large ‘Z’ was perched on the top of the staff.

‘Goldar, I wish to test your loyalty. Bring me the failure known as Rita Repulsa.’ Goldar nodded and set off. Zedd sat down and was approached by Finster.

‘My Lord, now that you have taken over I wish to discuss with you my Putties. I found a new batch of-’

‘Be Silent!’ Zedd boomed. Finster was visibly shaken, and rightly so. He was used to Rita listening to news on new batches of more powerful clay. Zedd didn’t even seem to care. ‘Your putties are useless to me. I have my own army of clay soldiers.’ Zedd turned round and pointed his staff at a random set of stairs. He began to chant a small summon spell. ‘Come forth my balls of flay, and form yourselves into warriors made of clay.’ A streak of red lighting shot from the staff and created twenty balls of clay. They then formed into human like creatures. Zedd began laughing as he witnessed his creations begin to dance around. ‘Be Still!’ He shouted, pointing his staff at the putties. He then transported all twenty of them onto the planet Earth.

‘My Lord, what are you going to do should all your putties fail?’ Finster asked. Zedd turned to the monster maker.

‘My putties are recycled. If all twenty are destroyed, they reform here and are sent down again.’ Finster took in this information. He turned to leave, but then remembered another topic he wished to discuss.

‘Do you want to use one of my monsters?’ Zedd looked at him, raised his staff and fired a few millimetres away from the monster maker. Finster scurried off back to his workshop.

The Ranger teens and Richie sped through the desert on their ATV’s, leaving Bulk and Skull eating dust. The two bullies tried to catch up but couldn’t on account of the fact that they were now heading in the same direction, each other. They threw themselves off and landed quite roughly on the ground. They got up and looked at the site of the crashed ATV’s.

‘I don’t like racing Bulky, let’s go home.’ Skull was just about to get up and leave when Bulk grabbed his shoulder and dragged him down again.

‘No. We are not going anywhere. I’m going to get that title,’ Bulk looked at Skull, who gulped in fear. ‘And you’re going to help me.’ Skull looked at Bulk, then the ATV’s, then back at Bulk again.

‘No I’m not. No I’m not. You can, but I’m not.’ Skull got up again, but was dragged down by Bulk.

‘Yes you are, whether you like it or not,’ Bulk shot a glance at his cohort, who had begun babbling incoherently. ‘What is it fish brain?’

‘M, M, M, M, M, M, M… MONSTERS!’ Skull screamed. Bulk looked behind him and began to babble as well. They ran off in separate directions, but still managed to bump into each other. The putties ran forward and tried to catch up to the Rangers. A red streak of energy shot them forward thirty yards, and they discovered the Rangers on their way towards them.

On the ATV’s Zack leaned towards Jason. ‘Hey bro, aren’t those Putties up there.’ He said pointing at the road ahead. Jason strained to see and what he saw he didn’t like. He pulled on the brakes and nearly shouted out to the others, he would’ve but he couldn’t risk revealing the identities of himself and the others. The putties ran forward and Jason and Zack launched themselves into battle. The others stopped their ATV’s and got off as well, including Richie.

Jason took on four putties, kicking one in the stomach and trying to land a punch on another’s head. The other two grabbed his arms and he felt several kicks and punches hitting into his stomach. The putties then threw him to the ground. Zack took on another four and beat down two of them. He then tried to spin kick the other putties, but they were stronger. They grabbed his legs and spun him around. They let go and he flew into Jason.

Kimberly and Tommy took on four each. Tommy performed a tornado kick knocking over three. He then threw his arm backwards and grabbed the arm of the putty behind him. He threw it forward and punched downwards hitting the ‘Z’ plate on its chest. To his surprise the putty shattered. He withdrew and addressed the others. ‘Guys, hit the ‘Z’ and they’ll shatter.’ The others nodded.

Kimberly began to defend herself against her four putties. One came for her, and she kicked it aiming for the ‘Z’. She hit it, and the creature shattered. She then flipped and when she landed swung her arms to her side and punched the ‘Z’s of two putties that were standing there waiting to pounce. She then turned and kicked the last one, shattering it.

Trini and Richie took on four and equally defeated them. Jason and Zack held off their group and shattered them. The six looked around to see if there were anymore.

‘What were those things?’ Richie asked. Trini looked at him but knew she couldn’t say what they really were. Jason spoke up for her, realising the position she was in.

‘They looked like the things that the Power Rangers are always fighting.’ Zack took up the reigns of speech now.

‘Yeah, c’ept these were different. I didn’t recognize the ‘Z’ on their chests.’ The others nodded, as Jason took centre stage. He looked at Richie, while a cover story was being formulated in his head.

‘Richie, I need you to go back to the starting line and tell Billy what happened. We’ll go and get the relevant authorities.’ Richie looked At Jason, and raised an eyebrow.

‘You really think they’ll listen?’ He asked.

‘We’ve not got a choice in the matter Richie,’ Trini began. ‘We need to tell someone about this. Angel Grove could be a greater risk than it is now.’ Richie nodded, he then sat down on the ATV he’d shared with Trini. He started the engines and began to drive off. The teens watched him go then sighed, a breath of relief. ‘If only we could tell him.’

‘You know Zordon’s rules. We can’t, he’d have to discover our identities. Richie is a nice guy, but Zordon’s rules come first.’ Jason stated to the whole group. Just as they were about to find a spot around which they could converse with Zordon, their communicators went off.

‘Zordon this Tommy go ahead,’ Tommy said answering the call. Zordon’s voice filled the empty desert.

‘RANGERS, TELEPORT TO THE COMMAND CENTRE IMMEDITLY.’ The Rangers looked at each other, then around themselves. They pressed a button on their communicators, turned into multi coloured light and zapped towards their Command Centre.

The rangers obviously didn’t look hard enough, because a near by bush began to shake as a figure rose from out of it.

Lord Zedd sat in his throne bored out of his metallic skull. He’d sent Goldar to look for Rita in what seemed ages ago. He was drawn out of his revere when he heard Goldar dragging Rita through the hallway. Goldar threw her in front of his emperor, and knelt.

‘My lord, as test of my loyalty I bring before you the failure Rita Repulsa.’ Goldar boomed. Zedd got up from his seat and eyed Rita for a moment. He looked at the Princess of Darkness in pity.

‘Very good Goldar,’ Zedd began. Goldar raised his head to look at his lord. ‘You have proven your loyalty, therefore you shall have returned to you that which was taken away.’ Zedd shot his staff at Goldar and fired a red beam at his chest. Immediately, his armour began to grow in sections. He suddenly felt stronger his broad sword grew as well. But the chief thing that Goldar would forever remember was that his wings had returned to him.

‘I thank you my Lord, you will not regret this,’ Goldar grovelled to his master. Zedd turned to look at the golden bat like creature.

‘See that I don’t,’ He said turning to Rita. ‘And you. You are a failure to my cause. Be gone!’ Zedd brought his staff down on her and fired a continuous stream of energy from the tip. Rita began to shrink to the size of an action figure. She shrieked as she went, getting smaller and smaller. Goldar bent down after the process was over, picked her up and placed her in the dumpster that the Putties had brought in earlier. He stepped back and let the clay soldiers pick it up and hold it over the balcony. Zedd fired his staff and the dumpster flew off into space.

‘The earthlings say that in space no one can hear you scream.’ Goldar stated much to the hilarity of Zedd.

As Rita flew off into space, she shrieked her deadly warning to her master. ‘You haven’t heard the last of Rita Repulsa!’

The Rangers teleported into the Command Centre and were met with Alpha worrying his metal head was going to explode, and Zordon trying to calm him down. A blue beam entered the chamber, and dissipated into Billy. He went over to Alpha and pressed a button on his back. Alpha immediately stopped.

‘Ay yi yi yi, thank you Billy,’ Alpha said, as Billy walked back to the others.

‘RANGERS,’ Zordon began. ‘THE THING I HAVE FEARED MOST AS HAPPENED. LORD ZEDDUS ZAPHOURIUS HAS ARRIVED.’

‘Lord Zeddus Za who ius?’ Kimberly asked, dumbstruck. Zordon smiled at her innocence. He sometimes wished he’d never placed these burdens on such young shoulders. They had been through so much over the past year, and Zordon was proud of them for not losing their sanity.

‘ZAPHOURIUS, MY DEAR. HE IS RITA’S EMPEROR, AND IS MUCH WORSE THAN SHE COULD EVER BE.’

‘How can there be someone worse than Rita?’ Trini asked. Alpha turned to her.

‘As Rita is a Princess, her father is a King. In order to preserve peace, Master Vile gave to Zedd his daughter. Zedd in turn sent her to Earth to conquer it in the name of the name United Alliance of Evil.’

‘So Zedd’s like, Rita’s boss,’ Zack asked, unsure.

‘CORRECT ZACKARY,’ Zordon knew he’d chosen well, when he chose these five. Rita of course chose Tommy. ‘I’M AFRAID THAT NIETHER YOUR POWERS NOR YOUR ZORDS WILL BE ENOUGH TO STOP ZEDD’S EVIL MAGIC.’ The teens looked at each other for a moment, contemplating what would happen.

Zedd stood on the balcony of his recently acquired Palace. He was using his visor to see what was happening on Earth. He witnessed the Rally and made his decision. He held his staff aloft, aimed and fired. A red beam shot towards Earth landing in a pond.

The alarms went haywire in the Command Centre, as the teens turned towards the viewing globe.

‘RANGERS,’ Zordon began. ‘THAT IS THE PIRANTIS HEAD MONSTER.’ He described the creature they were seeing on the globe, as it waddled out of a pond. ‘LORD ZEDD HAS SENT HIM TO DESTROY YOU, YOU MUST CAREFUL. THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT IT COULD DO. GO NOW AND MAY THE POWER PROTECT YOU.’

‘It’s Morphin’ Time!’ shouted Jason.

‘DRAG-’

‘NO TOMMY. YOU MUST STAY HERE. THERE IS NO TELLING WETHER YOU POWERS WILL FAIL OR NOT.’ Tommy lowered his morpher, and looked at everyone else.

‘Good luck guys.’

‘MASTODON’

The five Power Rangers arrived in the centre of town only to be confronted by the Pirantis Head monster, and a group of the new putties. Zack stepped forward.
‘You’re messing with the wrong group,’ he said, as Kim stepped up.

‘We’re so going to kick your butt,’ she continued, setting up Billy’s Que.

‘So get of our planet,’ he said. Trini walked forward now.

‘Or we’ll make you,’ she said, now letting Jason finish.

‘Cause we’re the…’

‘POWER RANGERS!’ they said altogether. The Pirantis Head just laughed, as a silvery grey bomb flew from the sky into its hand. It took out a small pin that sat on the top and threw it to the ground. A cloud of steam flew upward and enveloped it, as it grew larger. The Rangers stood looking upward at the overgrown fish. They looked at each other then yelled.

‘We need Dino Zord Power, Now!’ The massive assault vehicles rode forward, but before the Rangers could jump into their respective cockpits, four of the Zords became frozen solid. The Pirantis Head started to laugh as it brought a huge fish like thing away from its mouth. The Rangers looked on as it destroyed their Zords.

‘Without our Zords,’ Jason began. ‘We’re history.’

Another Version Of Season 2

Just a quick update. I'm planning to finish this rewrite at In Space. I might just keep calling it MMPR. Who knows. I won't post Ranger profiles, but I will post eps. Promo will up this time next week.

Promo:- With four of the DinoZords frozen solid, the rangers must use the Tyrannosaurus and the DragonZord to fend off the Pirantis Head. Meanwhile Lord Zedd draws his plans against the Earth.

Nice to see Richie brought in a bit earlier. He's one of the more interesting non-Rangers. When's the next chapter up?

‘The Mutiny Part 2’

The Rangers looked on in horror as four of their Zords were frozen and destroyed. The Triceratops, Sabre-Toothed Tiger, Pterodactyl and Mastodon Dino Zords were now gone. Only the Tyrannosaurus remained. Jason looked up at his Zord as it stood awaiting orders. He was about to jump into its cockpit, but was stopped when the giant Pirantis Head monster fired its fish weapon at his Zord.

‘Tyrannosaurus, NO!’ he shouted, as his Zord was frozen solid. Pirantis Head then kicked the Zord down to the ground, where it shattered. All the Dino Zords were now gone, except for one. Tommy’s Zord, the DragonZord.

‘We have to call on Tommy and the DragonZord,’ stated Billy. Jason nodded and brought his communicator to his mouth.

‘Tommy, this Jason, come in,’ he said, speaking into his wrist. Tommy’s voice came over the speaker.

‘This is Tommy, I read ya,’ he said over the comm.

‘We need the DragonZord, man. It’s our only hope,’ Jason stated. Tommy looked up at Zordon.

‘I have to go, regardless of how much power I have. I’m their only hope.’

‘GO TOMMY, BUT FIRST TAKE THIS POWER BOOST,’ energy began to shoot of Zordon’s tube and into the power coin. After what felt like minutes, the energy transfer was over.

‘Thanks,’

‘GO NOW AND MAY THE POWER PROTECT YOU,’

‘It’s Morphin’ Time!’

‘DRAGONZORD’

He teleported right next to the rangers and pulled out his dagger. He played the power up tune of the mighty DragonZord. In Angel Grove harbour the water was displaced, as the DragonZord approached. It roared as it entered battle with the Pirantis Head. DragonZord whipped its tail around and hit the monster in the chest. It roared again as it answered its master’s call. Small missiles protruded from its fingers and fired into Pirantis Head’s upper torso. Pirantis Head recovered and fired a beam of ice onto the DragonZord. It froze solid as Tommy and the others were forced to watch their last hope fade into nothingness. Pirantis kicked it, as it did the Tyrannosaurus, and it fell to the ground. Tommy brought his dagger away from his mouth and watched his Zord be destroyed.

‘DRAGONZORD,’ Tommy shouted at the top of his lungs. He took a deep breath and let out a sigh, as Kim put a hand on his shoulder. ‘Goodbye, my old friend,’ for a moment there was silence, and suddenly the rangers began to double over in pain. They were writhing on the ground helpless, their costumes fading. The pain stopped as quickly as it had begun and when they got up they we unmorphed.

‘Billy what happened?’ Kim asked the blue ranger.

‘It appears we have lost out powers, whether or not we can morph again is unknown.’

‘We have to get back to the Command Centre,’ Jason stated. He pressed the teleport button, but stayed where he was. He looked around the group, not knowing what to do next.

‘Can’t you go anywhere? Oh what a shame,’ Goldar laughed as the teens turned round to face him. He walked towards them with a group of Putties. The rangers looked at each other. They were about to enter battle, when they felt their molecules being displaced.

‘NO!’ shouted Lord Zedd. He’d sent down Goldar to destroy the rangers, when they had been teleported away. He wasn’t going to let them escape. ‘This is the last straw. Their Zords are gone, they are now helpless.’ Goldar returned to his master’s side.

‘When will we have another chance, My Lord?’ he asked, timidly.

‘Patience, we will strike soon enough.’

The Rangers felt themselves reassemble in the Command Centre. Alpha hurried up to them, worried.

‘Ay yi, are you okay rangers?’ Alpha asked them.

‘We’re fine Alpha,’ replied Trini, as Jason stepped forward.

‘Zordon, how could this happen?’ The floating head was worried about what would happen next.

‘I AM AFRAID THAT YOUR ZORDS CANNOT BE BROUGHT BACK. ALPHA,’

‘I’m sorry to tell you this, Rangers but when your Zords were destroyed your Power Coins were rendered useless.’

‘So,’ Zack began. ‘What are we going to do?’

‘RANGERS, PLEASE GIVE UP YOUR POWER COINS. I MAY HAVE A WAY TO REPLACE YOUR POWERS.’

‘Like what?’ Kim asked, quietly and in a near sarcastic tone.

‘YOU WILL FIND OUT, I AM GETTING USED TO YOUR HUMAN ELEMENT OF SURPRISE. I WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN YOUR POWERS HAVE BEEN REPLACED.’

‘Right, come on guys. Let’s go,’ Jason began to lead everyone out of the Command Centre.

‘TOMMY, YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR POWERS CANNOT BE REPLACED.’

‘Why?’ Kim asked. Zordon turned to look at her.

‘BECAUSE MY DEAR, TOMMY’S POWERS WERE TAKEN AWAY BY RITA. I RE-ENERGIZED HIS COIN WITH MY OWN ENERGY. NOW THE COIN IS SIMPLY A PIECE OF WORTHLESS GOLD THAT CANNOT BE SAVED.’

‘Man, I guess we knew this would happen. It’s been great guys.’ Tommy stated. Jason sighed and led his group from the tall sand coloured building.

‘Rangers at two o’clock,’ Zedd exclaimed, turning off his visor’s beam. ‘Ha, ha, they are now powerless. An easy target’

‘But sir,’ Goldar began. ‘It’s only twelve o’clock!’

‘Be quiet fool, go now and destroy the power rangers!’ After Goldar had left, Zedd thought to himself. ‘I should never have given his wings back, it’s depleted what’s left of his last remaining brain cell.’

Goldar flew down to the ground with a handful of putties. The Rangers had jogged down the narrow path that five of them had first traversed a year before. That had been when Rita had first arrived, and Zordon had entrusted the power to these five individuals.

‘What are we going to do without our powers?’ Zack asked the group. Silence, was his only reply. ‘Hey main brain,’ he shouted at Billy. ‘How’d this happen?’

‘Obviously our power coins were linked with our Zords. I believe that in the event of destruction, our coins are rendered useless.’

‘What,’ asked Kim, ‘Like a, sort of mental connection type thing?’ Billy smiled at the former pink ranger’s question.

‘Yes I believe so. Perhaps not so much-’

‘I would be quiet if I were you human!’ Goldar boomed, cutting off Billy in mid speech. He whipped round, as did the others, to face the golden baboon. ‘Ha, what is it you say about now? Something about morphing time isn’t it,’ He continued to laugh at the powerless rangers. As he fired a blast from his sword, the teens flew out of the way. Jason, Trini and Zack on one side Tommy, Kim and Billy on the other. A group of Putties dematerialized next to Goldar and began to attack.

Tommy took four on, while Billy and Kim stood ready to ambush them from behind. As the first putty, lunged forward with a clumsy kick, Tommy grabbed its leg and twisted it. It landed on the ground, as Tommy aimed a perfect punch at its chest shattering it. Kim and Billy aimed two perfect kicks at the putties’ chests, also shattering them.

Jason and Zack kicked forward, missed, then spun and elbowed two of the creatures in the ‘Z’. Trini was taking on four at once. She spun delivering a round house kick to the first putty, whilst grabbing the arms of another two and knocking them into each other. She then rounded on the last one, punching it in the chest. She stood in a stance as the four putties vanished from around her. Goldar was amazed. The rangers approached him, and he decided that he might have underestimated them. He took a step back, and disappeared into nothingness. The teenagers looked around and went on their way.

Bulk sat up and looked around him. The creatures had gone, that was a relief. Skull was still lying on the ground, out for the count. He got up, and strode over to his skinny friend.

‘Skull, wake up. We need to win that title.’ Skull did not respond, at all. So Bulk kicked him in the chest.

‘OW!’ he shouted, at last.

‘Finely, your up,’ Bulk helped Skull to his feet, and then walked to the site of their crashed ATV’s.

‘What are we going to do now? We can’t win the race,’ Skull looked around, while Bulk looked like he was going to explode. ‘Oh, well. Let’s go home!’

Skull turned to leave when Bulk grabbed him by the arm of his jacket. ‘I don’t think so, bird brain. We will win, and I will take the title for my own.’

‘That’s not fair!’

‘Who cares? Not me!’

‘How could you let them escape?’ Zedd boomed, as Goldar stood quivering in the shadows. ‘You could not even catch a fly in a paper bag, you idiot.’

‘My lord, I thought it was best to conserve what energy I had so that I can face them again invigorated and more powerful.’

‘More powerful eh, so you want to be powerful. Well guess what you golden baboon, bring me the heads of those rangers and I’ll see what I can do.’ Goldar stood and bowed in front of his emperor.

‘I will not fail you my lord.’

‘Yes I’m sure you won’t Goldar. After all you didn’t fail Rita did you?’

‘Actually I-’

‘I WAS BEING SARCASTIC, YOU GREAT GOLDEN BAFOON!’

‘Yes My Lord of course forgive me,’

‘I don’t know whether I should have sent you away with Rita or not, but prove me right in sparing you by destroying the Power Rangers!’

Zordon waited patiently in his tube for Alpha to return from the inner most workings of the secret Command Chamber. Although he had been floating in an inter-dimensional cylinder for the past ten thousand years, he had learned that patience is a virtue, even though the rangers would argue that it isn’t right now.

He was pulled from his thoughts when Alpha walked into view. ‘ALPHA, HAVE YOU FINISHED REGENERATING THE POWER COINS?’

‘Yes Zordon, I believe I have. Will I contact the rangers?’

‘YES ALPHA, IT IS TIME TO BESTOW A GREATER POWER ON THEM, THAN THEY HAVE EVER KNOWN.’

The ranger teens had just entered the juice bar when their communicators went off. Jason led the others to a corner where they could not be heard.

‘This is Jason, go ahead,’

‘Rangers, teleport to the Command Centre Zordon and I have great news,’ a smile came to each of the ranger’s faces as they teleported out of the youth centre.

‘NO!’ Zedd shouted as he slammed his fist down on the balcony. ‘That troublesome Zordon is about to grant the rangers new powers. I must see to it that they are destroyed. Goldar send down Pirantis Head and a group of putties, they will not escape you this time.’

The rangers’ teleported into the Command Centre and stood awaiting Zordon’s to speech. It seemed to Jason that minutes and seconds had turned into hours and minutes, or even days and hours, before Zordon spoke.

‘RANGERS, AS YOU KNOW THE POWER COINS WERE RENDERED USELESS IN THE LAST BATTLE AGAINST THE PIRANTIS HEAD MONSTER. I BELIEVE THAT ALPHA HAS FOUND A WAY TO REGENRATE THE COINS’ ENGERGY SIGNITURES SO THAT THEY WILL BE USEABLE ONCE MORE.’

‘You mean you my coin?’ Tommy asked, stepping forward. He’d waited for months to hear news this good.

‘Ay yi, I’m afraid not Tommy. Unfortunately because of the green candle’s affects on the DragonZord power coin, it was left with no residual energy to regenerate it.’ Alpha said, breaking Tommy’s hopes.

‘RANGERS, I NOW PRESENT TO YOU THE POWER SPHERES,’ as Zordon spoke the five coins appeared over their owners.

‘ZACKARY, YOUR COIN AND ZORD WILL BE CHANGED FROM THE BLACK MASTODON TO THE GREEN LION.’ Zack’s coin suddenly glowed black, then green. When the glow died down a sphere had landed in his hands.

‘KIMBERLY, YOUR COIN AND ZORD WILL BE CHANGED FROM THE PINK PTERODACTLY TO THE PINK FIREBIRD.’ Kim’s coin suddenly glowed Pink. When the glow died down a sphere had landed in her hands.

‘WILLIAM, YOUR COIN AND ZORD WILL BE CHANGED FROM THE BLUE TRICERATOPS TO THE BLUE UNICORN.’ Billy’s coin suddenly glowed blue. When the glow died down a sphere had landed in his hands.

‘TRINI, YOUR COIN AND ZORD WILL BE CHANGED FROM THE YELLOW SABER-TOOTHED TIGER TO THE YELLOW GRIFFEN.’ Trini’s coin suddenly glowed Yellow. When the glow died down a sphere had landed in her hands.

‘JASON, YOUR COIN AND ZORD WILL BE CHANGED FROM THE RED TYRANNOSAURUS TO THE RED DRAGON.’ Jason’s coin suddenly glowed Red. When the glow died down a sphere had landed in his hands. The rangers held their new spheres and felt new power course through their veins.

‘Rangers, you morph in the same way as before. Only this time you will call out you new Zord and colour.’

‘I NOW BESTOW UPON YOU THE POWER OF THUNDER,’ the rangers nodded, but suddenly turned to the viewing globe when the alarms went off. On it they saw the Pirantis head attacking Angel Grove with Goldar and the putties.

‘We’ve got to stop them, guys’ Zack said becoming more confident.

‘We’ve got the power of thunder, let’s use it’

Sorry, I rambled.

Hey, look at that, I made it. I managed to finish reading this at work on Friday but had to wait to get home to get to RB in order to respond, but I've been busy all weekend so I couldn't make it until now. Anyway...

My critique won't involve grammar or anything like that because, as a general rule, I don't think it matters unless it gets to a point where it completely obstructs the story and makes it impossible to follow or understand. I don't even recall really running into any real problems like that, actually. I know you wanted a review from me based on the fact that I authored a fan fic you enjoy, but I think the best review I could give is from the POV of a fanfic reader, not writer.

Now, there hasn't been many adaptations (that I've seen) done on MMPR's S2, and here in the RB fandom, there are a lot of people who would have liked to see the things your going to be doing here with your fic. I've seen (and particiapted) in debates about the how's, when's and why's regarding the use of Dairanger suits, weapons, etc., so I know the goals of this fic are of interest to readers. Right away, I enjoyed our use of Richie, because it kind of mirrored the way the show did it, but still in a different way. In the show, the majority of Richie's appearances revolved around walking by Trini and exchanging blushes. In this story he remained subtle, and you did more than just make Trini and Richie wave to each other just to show the audience there was a romantic inclination there.

One issue I had was the Putties.The thing I didn't like about them is that they were a little too "canon-like". The show's "MUTINY" gave us stronger Putties with stronger weaknesses. After that, the other encounters the Rangers had with them showed that while the strong weakness the Putties suffered from in "MUTINY" remained, their strength and fighting techniques didn't (remain) and the same kind of happened here in your story as well. A part of the problem with that reflected in the rest of the story. I'll explain.

The only other remake of Season 2 I've read suffered (I hate to use that term right here cuz it sounds a lot more crude than I mean it to be, as I don't think "suffering"is somethign your fic comes close to eliciting) from the same thing. An attempt to approach it with flavor from the show's version, but also with new flavor provided by the writer. To do this, parts of the show's version are shed,but in the remakes I've read, those parts that are shed are not replaced with anything, or replaced with things that aren't very exciting.

I love that you made Pirantishead destroy the Dinozord cuz it showed us, rather than Zedd merely insisting that it's true, that his monsters and all toghether brand of evil was more powerful than Rita's. I can barely remember when it happened with the Thunderzords, but I remember the loss of hope and broken spirits when the Zords were, in one way or another, disposed of in GWE and "MUTINY". Zack even cried. Here, while you upped the fear factor by making Pirantishead a more powerful foe, I wasn't really engaged by the rather unceremonious destruction of the Zord's here. I don't just mean the Ranger's reaction to it, but the actual act of destruction is told in a little too matter-of-fact way, for something as huge as that. I remember once some time ago locking all my keys in my bedroom and having to bust the doorknob off, and then having to get another, and then having to install it. I remember how annoying that was, even though it was just a doorknob. But the destruction of the Zords here was an event that didn't feel like it was important, even though something like the destruction of Zord's is a big deal. It seems like I had more trouble replacing my doorknob than they did the Zord's.

In Part 2, we started with a weakening Tommy being dragged into Battle as the only one left with a Zord. Quickly, though, it is destroyed which again shwos the power of Pirantishead and Tommy even had a little bit of a felt reaction to it which was cool. Then the Ranger's try to teleport away but can't and instead are left at the whim of a gloating Goldar and a team of Putties. When I read this part I was like, "OMG! This is getting so good!" as it had a "GWE/ JAson's battle" feel to it where the powerless Ranger's are left in the hands of a vicious Goldar. Instead, they're teleported away. That's fine. Even though I was all anxious to see how you handled Goldar's portrayal in contrast to the show's S2, I still found it to have been a satisfying, yet brief, moment of suspense that took me back to "DOOMSDAY" when the powerless Ranger's are in Billy's garage trying to re-establish a link to the Command Center when a blood thirsty Goldar appears and wrecks Billy's lab. I loved that. The Ranger's stood at the ready to fight, but they didn't (and even left Goldar with the opportunity to destroy Billy's house!...but I digress...) yet I was still really satisfied with that moment of suspense, even though I would have loved to see the unmorphed Ranger's take on Goldar. This part of your story was brief but thrilling in the same way as the Doomsday, which = awesome.

Unfortunately, Goldar's actual battle didn't really live up to my expectations...cuz there was no battle. It started off awesome with Goldar blasting the 6 powerless team into fragmented teams of 2, but....that was all. The Putties moved in, moved out then Goldar left. I would have liked to see Goldar put up more of a fight than a Putty. It makes me kind of sad to think a MOTD would put up more of a fight than Goldar. This was one of the failings of the show's S2 (pussifying Goldar) that we look to fan fics to remedy and is one of those things I like to see done. Writer's don't have to make Goldar what he was in S1 but I don't imagine many readers are interested in seeing our beloved Goldar treated the way he was in the show's S2. And again, one of the things I see happening in the few remakes of S2 that I've seen is lack luster changes being made, or just having all the interesting things dropped from it entirely.

I don't mean to focus on the Goldar thing too much, but I have to say that with no interesting battle against him in the attack he perpetrated outside the Command Center, this version of Part 2 is, and I'll askfor your pardon for sounding more crude then I intend to....again, pointless. The only real progression was the destruction of the Dragonzord which occurred right at the very beginning, and the creation of the new Zords, which happened at the very end. It might just be me, but I didn't feel like that warranted a 2nd episode. It could have been tacked onto the ending of the 1st and left us with the anticipation of seeing these new powers in action for the 2nd episode.

I must also give you credit for includiing Bulk and Skull. I figure good writers can make something they don't see working, work, and I tink I have the abiit to do so. Unfortunately, at press time I just turned my back on them and made their appearances scarce, if anything, Your better then me for managing to make them work in regular appearances.

Again, this is all just from my personal opinion as an entertainee choosing to give a totally objective POV. You obviously have your own goals for this story, and I'd like to see you reach them. I hope anything I've said helps you to achieve that in your own personal opinon.

Thanks that helped. I too thought that the zords were destroyed very quickly. I suppose that my creative mind just couldn't think of how to write that into a story. You have to remember that my writing skills are still at an age of development, so don't expect too much on the side of feelings. Um, okay well I only wrote the Goldar you saw, because that's how I remember him. I hope that I can write episodes that will be reminicent of the show, that's one of my goals.
