A contest idea...

I know Phaeton usually does the contests, but I thought of one that might be fun. By now, you've probably heard of the Sentai Mecha book, which contains the mecha designs for every series up to Hurricanger. Since the book is hard to come by (I still don't have mine), scans of the book can be found here (http://www.thai-toku-v3.us/koro/Sentai_Robo_1975_2002/) courtesy of Thai-Toku. Some of the most interesting parts of the book are the abandoned mecha design concepts, which range from the well-known Zyu2 mecha to some interesting space station mecha.

Here's the contest: pick one of these unused mecha designs and create a new team based around it. Usually, fanfics are made with the Rangers first and the Zords/mecha afterwards. Try challenging yourself by doing the reverse.

Here are the basic rules:

1. Do not use the Zyu 2 mecha. They're overused already.

2. Don't reuse the original/official suit designs. Create the suits, weapons, vehicles, etc. from the ground up. See a design in the mecha that might make a great motif? Use it. This is a creative exercise.

3. To clarify, the available mecha designs are the lower block of black-and white scans and these pages:

It's just that the Zyu 2 mecha are really overused. Everyone that does an MMPR redux fic uses them.

BTW, sorry about the pics/links not working. They worked an hour ago, I swear.

That should be fine. It's just the dinos that I'd rather people not use.

Rangerboard has educated me as far as the "initials" thing go, but "IYO" is one I don't know. What does that mean?

The storyline, a short fic, whatever you want. The main thing I'm trying to do is to get the creative juices flowing on the board.

Great choice! The top portion of the scan is the one I used for my "Knights of New York" fic, which was my inspiration for starting this contest. It's an awesome design, isn't it?

Well, I'm working on a way to include ALL the mecha designs in that scan into my story concept. I looked at the three available scans then decided on the ideas for Truthranger. Thank you.
