My MMPR Fanfic - Supreme Power Rangers (Working Title)
My intention with this fan-fic is to re-interpret the MMPR universe, in a similar manner to what Marvel Comics did with their "Ultimate Marvel" series. At this point in time I'm just throwing ideas around at seeing what could work and what doesnt. I also am considering doing this in animation (eventually) and hope to re-design the Ranger outfits and update character designs without ruining them completely. Overall suggestions are welcome.
My plan with the first episode is to do my own take on the great battle between good and evil that helped give birth to the Ranger powers.
After the battle, five of the six Power Coins that Zordon created are lost to the sands of time, only to be recovered on an archeological dig and displayed as a recent addition at the Angel Grove Musem. When Rita appears and begins attacking Earth, the disembodied Zordon sends Alpha (in disguise as a human tourist) from his futuristic Command Chamber to retreive the Coins.
As far as origin stories go, ive only given breif thought to each of the Rangers save for Tommy. Here's what ive come up with so far.
Jason Scott, age 18, is a rather popular jock with divorced parents, currently living with his grandfather. He is also a martial arts enthusiast who develops an instant competitive rivalry with Tommy once he arrives.
Kimberly Hart, age 16, is Angel Grove University's most popular girl on campus. Something of a drama queen who enjoys the usual girl stuff. She tries her hardest to figure out the dark and brooding Tommy, and constantly goes after him despite the fact that he initially shows no interest. The pair form an uneasy friendship that will eventually blossom into love.
Billy Cranston ,15, is the bookworm of the group. After winning the Amatuer Inventor's competition with his souped-up Mini Cooper "the Rad-Bug", he is now a part-time attendee of Angel Grove University's Teen Genius program.
Trini Kwan, also 15, is intelligent and spiritual. She shares an interest in science and martial arts, and is Billy's best freind and the only one able to succesfully translate his "Techno-Talk" manner of speech for the other Rangers. She attempted to join the Teen Genius program to spend more time with Billy, who is blissfully unaware of her feelings towards him.
Zack Taylor, 17 is an easy-going slacker who considers himself something of a ladies man. He agrees to being a Ranger under the impression that it is a part-time job.
Tommy Oliver, 18, is a transferred senior stundent from the town of Reefside who has been at Angel Grove University for the past two months. He is dark and brooding, and occasionally interacts with the Rangers. Like Jason, he is an expert martial artist constantly seeking to improve himself and outdo Jason. In addition to Kimberly constantly chasing after him, he also is forced to deal with his mother being hospitalized after being caught up as an unfortunate victim of a battle between the Rangers and one of Rita's monsters. Swearing revenge against the Rangers, he seeks to destroy them but knows he cant beat them on his own. Enter Rita, who offers him his chance by giving him the Green Dragon Power Coin to aid him in destroying the Rangers. What he doesn't know is that Rita has corrupted the coin with her dark magic and Tommy finds himself an unwilling puppet to the evil of the coin, seeking to wipe out the Rangers by any means necessary once morphed. Over time, Tommy realizes what Rita has done to him and seeks to break the coin's influence over him.
