Yeah, I know there are loads of SPD fics around right now, but I have had this planned since Endings, so here goes. Obviously in continuity, set after Endings 2.
SPD Envy
Chapter 1
The heavy wind whipped past the Red SPD Ranger as he charged across the rooftop of the building, his legs pushing onwards, despite the developing ache in them. Looking downwards, to his left, the Ranger could see the tops of smaller buildings, each covered with high tech equipment such as satellite dishes and antenna. A few buildings away, he could see one of his fellow rangers rushing across a lower rooftop. Suddenly, the Blue Ranger stopped, coming to the edge of the building, before looking up to his leader and shrugging his shoulders and pointing to the next building. It was taller than the one the Blue Ranger was currently standing on, and a large distance away.
“Bridge,” Sky said in to his Delta Morpher, breathing heavily as he continued running, “Think you can make that jump?”
“Don’t think so Sky.” Bridge replied. “I could try it, but if I’d rather not try it and not risk what would happen if I did try it and couldn’t make it.”
“Right.” Sky nodded, ignoring Bridge’s unnecessary babbling, as he reached the edge of the building. “I think I can do it from up here. Tell the girls to seal off the bottom of the building.”
“Roger.” Bridge said, as Sky closed his Delta Morpher and placed it back in to it’s storage space at the back of his belt.
Looking through his visor, the Red Ranger could see that the distance to the next building was rather large, and there would have been no way Bridge could have made the jump, he wouldn’t have been able to get enough altitude, as well as the length. However, from this height, it was doable. On the building to his left, Sky could see Bridge entering the stairwell, back to the ground floor. It still seemed strange to be watching the Blue Ranger like this, it was almost like watching himself, and sometimes he had to remind himself that being the Red Ranger was not just a dream anymore.
Sky turned his attention back to the building infront of him, running again to gain the needed speed for the jump.

“Are we sure he is still inside?” Syd asked the Yellow Ranger as they both stood, in their S.W.A.T gear, in the large lobby of the hotel. It was very elegant, with large marble pillars scattered around the room. It reminded Syd of some of the places her parents would take her, though usually she would not be in Ranger uniform, equipped with a Delta Enforcer. The gun was held tightly to her chest, partly covering the ‘5’ that decorated her vest. Whilst Sky and Bridge had been more than happy to change colours after Jack’s departure, both Z and Syd had decided that they would rather stay with yellow and pink. The team had agreed that their rankings did not hold much weight within the team anyway, so moving from Ranger number 4 to 3, or 5 to 4 would not have made a difference.
“I think so.” Z nodded from across the room, her body pressed against one of the large pillars. “We have had no further word from Sky or Bridge.”
“Hold your position!” Bridge yelled as he burst through the double doors, grabbing for his Delta Morpher. “S.W.A.T Mode!” The armour attached itself to the Blue Ranger suit as Bridge continued to run towards the main stairs. “Stay here, keep the lobby covered.” He shouted. “Sky wants me to search upstairs.”
“Right.” The two girls said in unison, as the Blue Ranger ran up the stairs, leaving them alone again. The lobby had been evacuated moments after the Pink and Yellow Rangers had appeared on the scene.

“Sky!” Bridge shouted, as he saw the Red Ranger, now also in S.W.A.T mode, at the other end of the red carpeted corridor. “Did you make the jump then?” When he got no reply, the Blue Ranger continued talking. “Are you getting a reading?”
“Not yet.” Sky said quietly. “He has to be in here somewhere though.”
Bridge turned slowly, attempting to scan the area. He knew Sky was right, the criminal they were chasing had jumped on to this building, with some kind of agility enhancing device, and had descended down the stair well. Syd and Z had not reported anything at the front door, so he must have been still in the building. His train of thought was soon interrupted, however, as Sky yelled in to his helmet’s communication device.
“Syd, Z, get outside, now!” His motivation was soon revealed, as there was the sound of smashing glass from the far end of the corridor. Turning towards the origin of the sound, Bridge could see into the end room, as the criminal, a tall and slim figure, with a long neck and pointed head, vanished through the window.

“We need to get after him!” Z yelled, as she and Syd watched helplessly as their prey jumped impossibly high, speeding through the city. “Kat, we need the Flyers!”
“Negative.” Came the voice of Commander Cruger through the com systems. “B Squad are to report to Delta Base immediately.”
“What?” Syd said, shrugging her shoulders and turning to Z. “Why?”
“It doesn’t matter why.” Sky replied, as he and Bridge came through the double doors. “Let’s get back.”
**
“And how did you loose him Officer Tate?” Commander Cruger demanded, standing close to him, looking down at the young man. “Were your squad not spread out appropriately?”
“Sir,” Sky started, standing tall trying to not show the nerves in his voice. “I felt it appropriate for Syd and Z to cover the largest room, while myself and Bridge searched the upper levels. I failed to anticipate the target escaping by any other means.”
Z and Syd subtly looked to each other. This was a technique Sky had evidently learnt from Jack, the ability to explain exactly what happen, disguising his own faults.
“Thank you Sky.” The Commander nodded, stepping back. “B-Squad, you are dismissed.”
“Yes sir!” The four Rangers said in unison, saluting their canine boss in the traditional SPD manner of moving their elbow across their chest. As they left the Command Center, Doggy moved to his chair, sighing deeply as he sat down.
“It wasn’t their fault Doggie.” Kat Manx, the head SPD Earth technician, and Doggie Cruger’s old friend, said, as she steped away from the computer that she had been working on. “They weren’t to know. The four of them can’t be in five places at once.”
“That’s the problem Kat.” Cruger nodded. “There’s four of them. I think it is time to appoint a new Ranger to the B Squad.”
