The differences in functionality is already in the stickied Sentai changers topic.

I think the things that let's the Mystic Morpher down is that it's so damn quiet. Also with the wand having to be manually opened, yet the phone is opened from clamshell by using the side button is another let down.

EDIT: The one on the left is the Mystic Morpher.

I'm going to wager a guess and say the smaller one is the Mystic Morpher.

It wouldn't be so bad if the sounds weren't so quiet. Literally I have to put it to my ear to hear it clearly.

That's a sound comparison. Turn the volume down though, as the MagiPhone comes out quite loud on the microphone. MagiPhone is first, then Mystic Morpher is second.

Nope.

So, the button on the side on the Mystic Morpher opens it to Phone Mode from Closed Mode?

They said they were focusing on the North American market. They never said Power Rangers specifically.

Well no ones forcing you to buy the sentai version. Its pretty interesting to see how people often times seem like thier mother is forcing them to buy a sentai changer

What are you talking about? In his statement he in no way implied that someone was forcing him, only that hes getting the Magiphone because its the better of the two. Alot of people wait untill the american version comes out just incase it doesn't suck, then when people find out it does suck, they get the better of the two.

The "Maaji Maji Majiro" (did I do that right?) sounds unbelieveably stupid on the MagiPhone, IMO. The Mystic Morpher is robotic-sounding, which doesn't fit with a Mystic/Magic series, but I'm going with it. Mainly because it's cheaper, but whatever.

Yep. Wish it did the wand tip opening like on the MagiPhone. Would make it better then.

I'm surprised it's smaller than the Japanese version.

In all honesty I buy all the Sentai Changers cause I like them better, but the Mystic Morpher is really cool despite it's size.

Anyway Stevie, do you mind if I put your pics in my Sentai Changers/Morphers thread? If so, PM me.

You know what it's defently alot better then the SPD morphers. But again reducing the size. I am a tad upset, but it still looks great with the paints and stuff. I actually think it still looks cool small. How come they never done that before with every morpher that came out for a series. Now all of a sudden they are being changed to being smaller. It's like making the Power Morpher smaller then the Zuyranger morpher.

I'm getting both. Why? New spell system.

Well for one thing the Magi Phone, for the age group, would be a bit bulky for kids... not implying that little kids can't handle the thing, it isn't that big...

But a smaller size decreases cost, and allows them to put extra things in them, for instance their own spells... face it I would rather have a smaller item with the spells, then have a bulky one with only a morph sound.

I agree wtih ya on the size, it does look cool small.

I remember when Magi came out and ppl were bitching cause the Magiphone was too fuckin big and not realistic as a cellphone because of its size (not the fact that it turned to a magic wand or anything...) Now nine months later its all love for the Magiphone and the Mystic Morpher might as well be shit on a shingle... Im glad some ppl still like it cause ppl were so jazzed a couple weeks ago when they heard that there was a new spellsystem and they didnt care that there were no lights... I still want it just for the new spells *shrug* And guess what? Now its even closer to the size of a cellphone :P

Only thing that I'm dissapointed is that the wand doesn't spring open like the Magiphone. But since I'm not a big fan of this morpher/changer anyway, I'll probably just end up getting the Mystic Force one.

If that's how the voice will sound in the show when it repeats the spells (like how the Saint guy always names the spell the Magiranger have performed, like Maaji Jiruma Golu Jingajin after MagiLegend is formed), then the guy in Mystic Force sounds boring and unemotional. There's at least SOMETHING to the MagiPhone guy. That, and the ability to change Ranger symbols works in my favor.

*Looks at MagiPhone with Taurus symbol placed inside*

I made a good buy this year.

Seriously, the thing is much more realistic in the smaller size. As far as functions go, we're used to being let down in comparisson by now. But this resize isn't so bad. As for the SPD changers, that *still* bugs me about the smaller size and lack of features/modes. but in this case it adds to the morpher instead of taking away.

I got both of them in the same day! LOL

a question for those who have the Mystic Morpher... are you joints really stiff? Well, not the joint exactly... but the part where the wand flips and clicks into place. On mine it feels like I'm going to break it everytime I try to flip it back to phone mode.

And to some of us, it's called collecting.

We want the better product, and some of us want what they actually used on the show. You may be content with paying for a cheap toy, but some of us here are willing to pay for quality.

In Japan there are adults who watcht the Sentai as much as the kids do. buying the stuff for their kids is just an excuse to buy them for themselves. LOL

seriously? When I went to the Sailor Moon musical show in 2000? There were probably as many adults there buy themselves to enjoy the show as there were parents with their children. And those parents were enjoying the show as much as thier children. As for the adults there alone? Not all of them were grown men looking a beautiful girls in short skirts. :005:

Besides, it's just so darn cute to see the small children proudly holding their big toys in their little hands. There was a pic of a little boy being Deka red in an issue of Hyper Hobby

I concour :) I spent $30 inc shipping

that was my logic in 'buy it now!" I saw it for sale for $44 and picked it up. Even if I were to find it cheaper on ebay, the shipping would have made it about that much anyway... and then I thought "what the hell? I've got a little under 9 dollars on this gift card I got free when I bought $75 worth of stufff...." I bought the Mystic Morpher, and with my discount to boot, cost me 89 cents.

I think what annoys me the most about the toy is that you can only be the "red" ranger again. Then again with SPD there was no id at all... It was like that with the Growl Phone. I ended up with getting the G-Phone because I wanted to be yellow. Can't remember... did they release Kira's morpher for DT? I know Tori got her disc inserted with the WInd Morphers.

They released Kira's Ptera plate & the male plates with the Thundersaurus Morpher.

I think, for $9.99 it's worth it. Just the wand flipping open by button bit would have been awesome.

For someone in the UK though, it cost me like £32 including shipping for a MagiPhone. It cost me £25 including shipping for the Mystic Morpher (as it won't be out here until January 2007). So overall, the difference between the two weren't much.

God I hate the exchange rate. Used to be much better last year. Used to be like $2 = £1. Now it's like $1.30 = £1. Damn.

okay... then they only went two years with releasing morphers with others other than just red. *sigh* (Dino and Ninja) The blue or green rangers tend to be my favorites. Jasmine/Deka yellow is a first. Hoji/Deka blue is however my second. Sky and Jack I would say are my favorite SPD

And I know about the exchange rate. I at one time was getting all kinds of Sailor Moon and Sakura Taisen stuff from Japan. The exchange rate was hell. I think the rate fell as low at 85 yen to a dollar at one point.

Yes it is "Collecting" and I have some Magi-phones, But just because I have the one that they used on the show or close to, I'm not going to down the ones that are lower quality. Look at it this way, before you even knew about Sentai you bought morphers for $9.99. Although they were allot better then.

A toy is a toy to me.

I'm more interested in the Magiphone, but I may end up getting the Mystic Morpher anyway, for the simple fact that once the holiday rush dies down, it'll be hella easier to find. Only places I know of that have the Magi Phone (TNJ and HLJ) are both also known for VERY bad reputations (TNJ's I learned of the hard way), and I don't know of any other places online that sell'em. I don't know. My guess about the smaller size is that BA used the mold for the Uzza Phone - I've heard that one was a bit smaller than the Magiphone, but who knows? I do agree about the Red-only thing though. That totally sucks. As for the SPD Morphers, I think they were done that way because the actual appearance of Change Mode in Dekaranger was NOT used in SPD. Look really closely anytime they press that button in SPD...you ONLY see the badge, NOT the ID section beneath. (At least, I never saw it.) Sucks, but that's what Disney did...so BA imitated it. Though BA's doing what they did to the front of them...no excuse for that...but oh, well. And I think that with the Patrol Morpher, they just repainted the Delta ones, as I don't think we EVER saw the inside of Kruger's changer for his henshin sequence in SPD...badge or anything...at least, not AFAIK.

Yep, it's the second year in a row that the henshin device got the shrinkdown. But at least this time, it looks like it's a quality product, unlike the SPD morphers. (My Patrol Morpher's paint started to wear off THE DAY I GOT IT...) It WOULD cut costs, though, even if it means some things suffer in quality. (EX.: the belt clip connector for the SPD morphers is smaller, more fragile than, AND DIFFERENT FROM the one for the SP/Master Licenses.) But for a little kid, they wouldn't care, they'd just be hyped over having it. Heh...I'M curious to see how they butcher the Grip Phone...that thing's already ugly as hell as is...it couldn't possibly get any worse in its appearance.

You know, in retrospect, I'm going to say this:

Even though I miss the Magi spell system, having purchased the MF Moprher Fury Edition, I think it's just as good. Of course, maybe if I owned a REAL Magiphone instead of my strange sword-sound bootleg with the wrong keypad, I'd think differently.

But I like the fact that even the Mystic Morpher has a spell system. It's a little simpler, and the voice of the Mystic Morpher is a little more, erm, "reserved" than that of the MagiPhone, but the thing is still alot of fun. And it seems many of the "mystic sounds" also come from the MagiPhone.

Having witnessed first-hand what the $10 bootlegs are like, I think that BoA could have done a lot worse for $10 a pop.

So true. BA could've done MUCH worse with it. And then, they ADDED a part just so they could include a belt clip, something not done with the Magi Phone. (Though this may be because most Americans have belt clips for their cell phones, anyway; the Magi Phone has a little hole for those band thingies like you find with the PSP and DS...and then trying to fit the small string end is hell anyway!) The Fury Edition's not out yet where I am, but I did pick up the regular MM. It's okay. (Then my lady got her Magi Mother Phone...makes me want to remove the AAAs from my MM and bury the damn thing...)

why in the hell dose bandai keep messing with the japan toys from the series, dont make it smaller keep everything the way it is just brand it to pr and make say american words. Wont they ever learn to just keep the toys intact. Im guessing bandai of american wants to make everthing smaller:mad:

You do realize that the united states has standards to the volume level of certin types of toys? The US puts limitations on everything. that why nomatter where you live you can get mexican stations clearly as all hell but your local station hardly comes in. the US wont let station boost there signal past a ceryian point but like other countries there are no limitations or there just higher so they just crank the bitch all the way up.

Shin_Dairenou
01-31-2006, 06:15 PM
That could very well be the case. The Magi Phone IS pretty loud, one of the loudest changers I've ever heard. My guess is that BA peeps figured that little kids who would be stupid enough to take it to school to show off would get into even more trouble than need be if they kept the original volume. Who knows...who cares. As long as the sounds are actually THERE, I ain't got too much beef with it.
