________________________________________________
Reefside; August 1st, 2007
“ Just another boring day here in Reefside,” a yellow-clad young woman said as she finished packing a small suitcase full of sheets of music . A wistful smile was on her face as she turned and tossed an autographed CD into a bag around her shoulder.
“ Oh, c’mon, Kira. I mean, you’re moving to Angel Grove because you got a musical scholarship to Angel Grove University. Plus, me, Conner, and Trent are going along because we got scholarships there, just like you did,” Ethan James said with a smile as he typed away on his portable laptop computer.
He was on level three of the newest addition of WizardWood, and he was almost through haggling with Beldorf.
“ I know that, Ethan. It’s just that – well – I’m gonna miss having Dr. O. as a teacher. And hanging out at Hayley’s cyber-café,” Kira said with a shrug as she put her suitcase by the door nearby.
The two old friends were hanging out at Hayley’s Cyber-Space, and were in a room where the owner commonly let these two and their select group of friends hang out.
At that very moment, a red-hair woman, a man with slightly-spiky hair, a younger guy wearing a red shirt, and a young man carrying a small bag around his own shoulders came walking into the room.
“ Hey, Dr. O.,” Ethan said, not glancing up from the game.
“ Hey, Hayley,” Kira said, walking over to place a brush of a kiss on the bag-carrying young man.
“ Hey. Look, we really need to get going if we’re going to be in Angel Grove before supper-time tonight,” Dr. Tommy Oliver said as he nodded at both Kira and Ethan.
“ Dr. O., what do you mean ‘we?’ You mean me, Kira, Trent, and Conner, right?” Ethan asked, pausing the game and looking up at his teacher.
Hayley shot Tommy a look. “ I thought you told them,” she chided him.
“ And I thought you did,” Tommy shot back good-naturedly.
“ Will somebody please tell us something,” Kira muttered with mock impatience.
“ Well, right after senior graduation last year, I got a very important job offer. I was offered a job as a professor of paleontology. As it turns out, I’ll be leaving for the job today,” Tommy told them all with a smile.
“ Dude, you mean you’re going to teach at Angel Grove University?” Conner asked in disbelief.
“ Yes, I am. But that’s not all. It seems that the old Angel Grove Bar and Youth Center was about to close down, so Hayley got funding to reopen it again. She’s gonna have it set up kinda like here,” the man said as he leaned against the doorframe.
“ All right Dr. O.!” Ethan said with a big grin before saving the game to his hard-drive and tucking the computer into the bag on the table.
“ But wouldn’t Hayley have to go to Angel Grove and oversee all that?” Trent wanted to know.
“ Yep. I’m moving to Angel Grove with you all until I get the café part of the Youth Center on its feet. I might even stay there permanently,” Hayley announced to the group.

“ But who’s going to run this place if you move to Angel Grove, Hayley?” was Kira question.
“ Elsa has agreed to take over temporary ownership. Anton Mercer is the one who’s helping to fund the building-onto of the Youth Center in angel Grove,” Hayley told her.
“ Elsa?” Kira asked uncertainly. The brown-haired girl had had many bad encounters with said woman almost a year ago, as had the rest of the group.
“ Yeah. Look, Kira, I know you still don’t trust her completely, but she’s not evil any more. She hasn’t been for many months. And she and Anton trust each other, and they’re going out, so I guess we have to learn to trust her as well,” Tommy chided her.
“ I know,” Kira grumbled.
“ So, we’re wasting time here. Let’s get our stuff out to Hayley’s van,” Ethan said, slinging his bag over his shoulder as he made his way out of the room.
“ Dibs on the first hour of the backseat radio!” Conner called out as he started out after him.
“ Too late!” Ethan could be heard calling back as the two guys – followed by Trent, Kira, Tommy, and Hayley – left the café. Hayley locked the door behind them, then climbed into the driver’s seat of the van.
Ethan and Conner immediately began jokingly arguing over how long each of them would get to listen to the backseat radio, and it was like this the entire trip, while they were awake.
Trent worked on a few unfinished sketches, and Kira strummed a few chords of music on her guitar.
“ Angel Grove, here we come,” Tommy muttered under his breath.
“ Are you nervous about returning there?” Hayley asked him as she drove expertly through traffic.
“ Yeah, I am, Hayley. I am a little,” he softly admitted as he stared out the window. It wasn’t long before everyone – save Tommy, Kira, and Hayley – were asleep. Kira played a song that she and her old-now-current best friend Kylie Stiles had written years ago.
Tommy barely tapped his hands on the armrest, and Hayley softly hummed along, as the van covered miles and miles of black asphalt.
* * * * *
“ Welcome to Angel Grove,” the large sign said as Hayley finally pulled the van off the interstate and began to enter the town.
“ Hey, guys, wake up. We’re here,” Kira said, gently poking Trent with her elbow. She turned around and started to wake Conner and Ethan up, but as usual, the two guys were sound asleep.
Grinning slightly, she picked up her water bottle and dribbled a few drops of water onto each of their faces. With surprised looks on their faces, they bolted up straight, causing Kira to laugh.
“ Hey! What was that for?” Ethan asked as he wiped his face with his sleeve.
“ I didn’t do anything,” Kira playfully lied, hiding a smile as she slid her bottle back into her bag with her CD.
“ Dude, just forget about it. We’re finally here. Let’s just sit back until we get to the university,” Conner said, relaxing back against his seat.
BTW, some installments will be a bit long than others.

“ Which we just passed,” Ethan said as he turned around to stare at a large campus that they’d just passed. “ Hey, I thought you were going to drop us off at the university, Dr. O.”
“ We’re going to stop by Hayley’s new place. I’m supposed to be meeting some old friends there,” Tommy explained. All four teens – plus Tommy and Hayley – were looking around at the town.
“ Wow. This town looks pretty cool,” Kira murmured as she happened to glance at a mall as they passed by it.
“ They’ve got a gamer’s meeting at the video arcade tomorrow? I am so gonna be there!” Ethan exclaimed as he read on the opposite side of the road nearly a hundred feet away.
“ Hey, they’ve got soccer tryouts at the university tomorrow, according to that billboard. You know I’ve gotta be there,” Conner spoke up as he grinned at his friends.
“ I saw an ad about amateur artists as we were passing the mall. Maybe you could attend,” Tommy suggested to Trent.
“ I think Trent’s good enough to be better than amateur,” Kira complimented her boyfriend.
“ Thanks, Kira,” Trent replied with a happy smile.
They all rode in silence for a few more minutes, until the van pulled up into a parking lot already halfway filled with cars.
“ This the place?” Conner asked as he stretched his cramped limbs.
“ It has the name on the side of the building,” Ethan sensibly pointed out.
“ Well, let’s go inside,” Hayley said, leading the way inside.
The second they were through the doors, the four teens immediately split into two groups to explore the place, while the two adults stayed together and approached the bar.
Hayley had sat down, and Tommy was about to do so, when he felt someone approaching him. Smiling, he slowly turned around to face the man and woman coming towards him.
“ Tommy? Is that you?” the stranger said as he smiled broadly.
“ Jason! Hey! Good to see you again!” Tommy replied, giving Jason’s hand a firm shake
“ Hey, you too, man,” Jason told him.
“ Hey, Kim, how’s it been?” Tommy asked the woman in the pink-and-white knee-length dress, who was standing beside Jason.
“ Pretty good, Tommy. I heard about your adventures in Reefside. Guess you can’t escape your past, huh?” Kim said with a smile as she gave her old friend a big hug.
“ Yeah. Once you get into our line of business, you don’t get out. By the way, I’d like you to meet my friend, Hayley. She and I went to MIT together, and she’s the one that’s going to be running the Youth Center now,” Tommy said, introducing Hayley to his two old friends.
“ Nice to meet you, Hayley,” Kim said, shaking Hayley’s hand as well.
“ Tommy Oliver? I haven’t seen you in here in years!” a gentle, booming voice said as a rather husky man came over and gave Tommy’s hand a hearty shake.
“ Ernie?” Now it was Tommy’s turn to be surprised.
“ The one and only. Came to see who this new owner was going to be. If she’s a friend of yours, I know my old place will be in good hands,” Ernie said with a warm grin.
“ Hey, Dr. O., they have some really cool games in the arcade part of this place,” Ethan said as he came strolling up to the group. He didn’t take too much notice of Ernie, but he did notice Kim and Jason.
“ And who’s this young fellow?” Ernie asked Tommy.
“ This is Ethan, a former student of mine from Reefside High School. He and his friends are going to be attending Angel Grove University,” Tommy informed the older man.
“ Dr. O., those two people look like two of those teenagers from that – um – that video you showed us of a class party,” Ethan said, changing his sentence so the big man wouldn’t know what he was talking about.
“ Yeah, they are,” Tommy said, throwing a swift glance at his old friends.
“ Well, it was nice seeing you again, Tommy, but I’ve got to get back home. I just bought a new blender to make smoothies, and I want to try it out. I’ll be stopping from time to time,” Ernie said as he walked away.
When he was out of earshot, and Jason was sure no one was around, he leaned in closer to Tommy.
“ What’s he talking about?” he asked Tommy, nodding his head at Ethan, who’d come over to stand beside Dr. Oliver.
“ When I was kidnapped by a bunch of goons, he and his teammates discovered my video diary. They saw you and the others in your first fight against the Rita’s Putties,” Tommy whispered back.
“ Whoa. So you two are two of the originals? The first red and pink Power Rangers?” Ethan asked.
“ Yeah. We had some good times, didn’t we?” Jason asked both Kim and Tommy.
“ Yeah. But why would Ethan be wanting to know?” Kim curiously wanted to know.
“ You’re looking at the former blue Dino Thunder Ranger,” Ethan proudly boasted.
“ Cool,” Kim told him.
“ The blue Ranger on our first team was a genius. He helped build most of our weapons,” Jason informed the young black man.
“ Ethan’s a genius when it comes to games,” Hayley piped up, finally adding her two cents in to the conversation.
“ Really? Billy taught me a few things last year. Showed me how to play the game WizardWood. He was the best, too,” Jason bragged.
“ I bet I could beat you,” Ethan boasted.
“ There’s an arcade here with four pairs of computers for just such an occasion. Let’s go,” Jason suggested, leading the way away from the group.
Hayley followed after them, then moved off to take stock of the place.
This left Kim and Tommy sitting on two bar stools by themselves.
“ So, how’ve you been?” Kimberly asked.
At the same time, Tommy asked, “So, you and Jase are dating now, huh?”
Laughing, Tommy gestured for Kim to go first. “ Yeah, he’s been my boyfriend for about six months now. It’s been pretty good,” she informed him.

“ That’s great, Kim,” Tommy agreed, feeling kinda awkward around a woman he’d not seen in years – and a woman he’d once liked when they were both teenagers and Rangers.
“ Yeah. Jason and I go out to where the Command Center used to be, you know, to reminisce about the old days. We’ve had Billy checking for the past few years to see if he could restore the power to the Command Center, but we haven’t seen him in months. You know Billy and machines – if there’s a way to fix it, he will,” Kim said with a laugh.
“ Yeah, I know,” Tommy agreed, seconds before he heard a very familiar beeping sound coming from the purse on Kim’s arm. They both adopted serious looks, and walked over to stand behind a large potted palm behind the counter.
“ I kept my Wrist Communicator. Billy was trying to upgrade it, but it didn’t work, and I decided to keep it anyway,” Kim explained as she brought the Communicator out. “ This is Pink, go ahead.”
“ Kim, get Jason. We’ve got trouble. I’ll teleport you as soon as I know you’re together,” a familiar voice said over the small device. Tommy had to smile as he and Kim went in search of Jason.
Tommy explained to his students and Hayley where they were going, then they went and hid in an almost empty storage closet.
Tommy took out his Communicator – from his White Ranger days – and the three disappeared in beams of red, pink, and white colored light.
When their bodies reformed, they were inside a room that looked hauntingly familiar. Kim couldn’t believe her eyes.
“ Wow. Billy actually did it!” she exclaimed, walking around to examine everything like it was her first time there.
“ How do you like it?” a man asked as he stepped out form behind a machine he’d been closing up.
“ It’s – exactly like the Power Chamber,” Jason whispered in awe.
“ Yeah, man, this place is definitely cool. As it ever was,” Tommy agreed as he went over and shook Billy’s gloved hand.
“ Tommy, good to see you again. You know, I had a feeling you might be dropping in,” he said with a grin that still belied some of his boyish innocence.
“ Wow. You rebuilt all this?” Kim asked as she examined a nearby console.
“ Well, I did have a little. Okay, I did a third of the work. Cam Watanabe and Hayley helped,” the blue-overall-clad man admitted.
“ Hayley? How could she have helped. She hasn’t left Reefside for a long enough visit to help build all this,” Tommy protested.
“ She sent us the plans she’d drawn up, and Cam and I enlisted some of his friends to help us rebuild this place,” Billy informed him.
“ Man, this brings back a whole lotta memories for me,” Jason whispered, still as in awe as Tommy and Kim obviously were.
“ Welcome back, Tommy,” a robotic-type voice said, and a small clanking sound was heard.
“ No way!” Kim exclaimed as a multi-colored object stepped into view.
“ Alpha 5! How’d you re-create him?” Tommy asked as he knelt down to the robot’s level.
“ With Hayley and Cam’s help, we were able to obtain the plans that Zordon had kept for Alpha 5’s construction. We sifted through them, readjusted a few things here and there, added the same voice, and voila! An old yet new friend is back again,” Billy said as Kim and Jason came over to stare at their old comrade.
“ It’s so good to see you again,” Kim told Alpha 5, giving the multi-colored robot a hug.
“ It is good to see three more former Rangers here as well,” Alpha 5. An alarm suddenly started blaring, causing all the former Rangers to start suddenly, and Alpha 5 to hurry over to a nearby computer bank.
“ Please don’t tell me those alarms mean what I think they mean,” Kim whispered as all four former Rangers crowded around the multi-colored robot.
“ Um, yeah. That’s why I originally called you,” Billy said, typing in a few commands before turning to a nearby circle-shaped screen in the wall. “ The new Viewing Globe,” he explained as a picture came up on it.
“ Oh no. Putties! I thought they got wiped out when Rita and Zedd were turned good!” Kim said with worry etching lines across her face.
“ Apparently the Machine Empire didn’t destroy the plans for creating Putties when they took over the Moon Palace. And these Putties are a great deal stronger. Our old powers – and maybe even Tommy’s old Dino Thunder powers – wouldn’t be enough to defeat a swarm of Putties,” Billy sadly informed them as the group watched Putties attacking innocent people in Angel Grove.
Tommy’s jaw stiffened when he saw the group of a dozen Putties approaching the Youth Center.
“ Those creeps are going to attack my students and try to steal their Dino Gems. We kept the Gems, a sentimental attachment. I’ve got to stop them,” he said to Billy.
“ I can teleport you to the Youth Center. But you’d best be careful. These new Putties are going to be tough to fight,” Billy warned his friends as he started to enter codes into the console.
With a thumbs-up, from Jason, the three were whisked away in beams of colored light. “ I just hope the safety precautions I went through will help,” Billy murmured after they were gone.
* * * * *
“ Man, Billy wasn’t lying!” Jason yelled, ducking a blow from a Putties fist, then getting swept off his feet by two more of the ugly grayish-blackish creatures.
“ Jason! All right, you guys – are – getting – on – my – nerves!” Kim screamed, just before getting knocked down to where her boyfriend was currently laying.
“ Dr. O., we aren’t even making a dent in these things!” Kira shouted, using her martial arts skills to their fullest extent.
“ We can’t give up!” Tommy shouted back at her, leaping into the air and performing a tornado kick before dropping down and performing a leg-sweep in daring succession.
“ Tommy, I’m sending you, Jason, and Kim my back-up plan. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to use it so early, but as it turns out I will have to,” Billy’s voice said through Tommy’s Wrist Communicator.
A sudden flash of black light lit the front of Tommy’s belt, while similar flashes of pink and red hit Kim’s and Jason’s belt.

“ No way!” the pink-and-white dressed woman exclaimed as she helped Jason up and Tommy came to stand beside them.
“ These three Power Coins were recreated from the plans for the original ones,” Billy said as bright sparkling lights briefly surrounded the buckles.
“ Jason, you are once again the Red Ranger, and will pilot the mighty Tyrannosaurus. Kimberly, as agile as always, you have once again received the power of the Pink Ranger, and will have control over the high-flying Pteradactyl. And Tommy, since Adam can’t be here full-time, you have been granted the power of the Black Ranger, and will have control over the mighty Mastodon. Now you may fight fairly, and may the Power protect you,” Billy’s voice said over the three adults’ Wrist Communicators.
“ All right, guys, you know what we’ve got to do now,” Kim said, taking out her Power Morpher.
“ Yeah. Its’ Morphin Time!” Jason shouted.
“ Mastodon!” Tommy called out, as a black light surged over him.
“ Pteradactyl!” Kimberly intoned, allowing a pink surge of power to surround her.
“ Tyrannosaurus!” Jason finally shouted, grinning slightly as a blast of red energy surrounded him. The entire morphing took only a few seconds, and soon the three were standing in their Ranger suits.
They’d only morphed, however, because they were in the gym section, and no one save the former Dino Thunder Rangers and themselves were around.
“ It’s great to be back in pink again,” Kim said as she raced into the fight.
“ Yeah, time to pound these losers into the ground,” Jason agreed, taking down a pair of Putties with a swipe of his gloved fists.
“ Back in black again,” Tommy muttered, wading right into the fray.
“ Let’s back off. I think these guys can handle those creeps,” Conner said as he herded his friends out of the room and to relative safety.
“ All right guys, let’s get rid of these creeps. Power Lasers out!” Jason commanded, causing the other two to withdrew the side-arms from their right holsters.
“ Fire!” Tommy shouted, as all three pulled the triggers on their weapons.
A short barrage of colored blasts emitted from the weapons, each emitting blasts in their Ranger’s color.
Putties exploded into shards of gray matter, then the debris disappeared in a small burst of white-green light. The three remaining foot-soldiers disappeared with them, and the side-arms were sheathed.
“ Power Down,” the three Rangers said as one, allowing their suits to disappear.
“ You okay, sweetie?” Jason asked Kim as he checked his girlfriend for signs of bruising or wounds.
“ Yeah, I’m fine. I just can’t believe it. We’re Rangers again!” she happily said, as Conner led the others – plus Hayley – back into the room.
“ Dr. O., that was so awesome. Looks like you’re a Ranger again,” Ethan said, after Tommy allowed him to take a look at the Power Morpher with the Power Coin inside it; Ethan quickly handed it back.
“ A Mastodon? And Black Ranger again? Dude, that is so cool,” Conner told his teacher.
“ So, what now? I mean, do you have a dojo or someplace to go for meetings or something?” Kira asked the three Rangers.
Billy chose that moment to contact Jason. “ Jason here. We beat the Putties,” he said into the Wrist Communicator, noticing that it looked just the slightest bit different.
“ Rangers, get back to the Command Chamber immediately. We’ve got a slightly bigger problem,” Billy’s voice said.
“ We’re going with you,” Kira spoke up after Jason had replied to Billy.
“ Yeah, we might be able to be of some help,” Ethan agreed. Kira grabbed Kim’s hand, Conner touched Jason’s Communicator, and Ethan touched Tommy’s Communicator.
In flashes of colored light, the three Rangers and three teens were teleported away.
* * * * *
“ Whoa, this place rocks!” Ethan said in awe as he quickly began to notice how technologically advanced the place was.
“ What are these strangers doing here?” Alpha 5 asked as he suddenly came up beside Conner. The young former Dino Thunder Ranger jumped nearly two feet off the floor in surprise!
“ Holy – a talking robot?” he said in disbelief, barely managing to calm his swiftly beating heart.
“ I am Alpha 5, young man,” the robot told him.
“ Oh, uh, cool,” Conner told it, quickly deciding to go over and see what Ethan was doing.
The three Rangers were gathered around Billy, worry once again etching their faces. “ What’s wrong, Billy?” Kim asked him.
“ Well, I was able – with Hayley and Cam’s help – to give back power to all the original Power Coins, except for the White Tiger Coin,” Billy started to say, before Tommy broke in.
“ You’ve repowered the Dragon Coin? That’s great. Could I see it? I haven’t seen it since I teleported it to you just after I first became a Dino Thunder Ranger,” Tommy said, his smile, sliding away when he saw the look on Billy’s face.
“ Well, that’s the problem. I was able to repower it along with the others, and I was going to find a new replacement for the black Ranger and give you your old powers and Morpher back, but when I was sending the morphers to you three, a beam of light struck the Command Chamber."
" I tried to break through it, but it sucked the Dragon Power Coin and Morpher into it, then disappeared,” Billy sadly said.
“ Are you saying that the fully-repowered Dragon Power Morpher was stolen, and you have no idea where it is?” Kim asked her old friend.
“ I’m afraid so. With a bit of time, I know I could track its location, because its connection to the Morphin Grid also ties it to this place as well. Eventually, I will find it, and you Rangers can bring it back here,” Billy told them.
“ Of all the luck,” Tommy muttered, instantly teleporting out of the Command Chamber. Billy teleported the three teens away from there a few minutes later, then allowed Jason and Kim to fully explore their new base of operations.

Cool story!

Exactly HOW much fan-wank did you spill writing this up?
Do yourself a favor. You write well. Use it for something half-way original.
Seriously.
Writing - flows well, descriptive, characters not bad, etc.
Story - hoary, beating a horse reduced to dust by former beatings. Please. You want to re-tell MMPR, do so. Spare us magically contriving the powers back for it.
EDIT: Sorry, but someone had to say it.

________________________________
A full week had passed since the new Mighty Morphin Rangers had first fought the Putties. Kira was at the mall buying a couple of new outfits for school; Trent was signing up for an extracurricular art class in the mall; Conner was at the local soccer field signing up for the team; Ethan was trying out the newest game on his computer at the Youth Center; Hayley was in the office at the Youth Center going over some business plans; and the three Rangers themselves were helping clean up the mess the Putties had caused in the gym part of the Youth Center.
“ Man, I can’t believe everything that’s happened. Tommy returned to Angel Grove, a group of super-charged Putties attacks and tries to steal the Dino Gems, and the Dragon Power Coin gets stolen,” Kim muttered to Jason as she swept up splinters from a broken chair.
“ Yeah, I know. I mean, how many more surprises could there be?” Jason quipped, righting a fake potted plant that’d gotten turned over.
“ Hey all,” a man’s voice suddenly said, causing Jason, Kim, and the nearby Tommy to glance up in surprise.
“ Bulk? Is that you?” Kim said, her mouth dropping open in surprise. The guy that’d been a bully in much of their high-school days was standing in the doorway to the gym area.
“ Yeah. Say, you wanna go on that date yet?” Bulk teasingly asked Kim as he stepped into the room.
“ You still haven’t changed. But it’s good to see you again,” Kim added, giving her old bully a hug. The guy actually had changed since high school, she knew, although she’d not seen him since then.
“ Bulk! Good to see ya, man,” Tommy said, reaching out to shake the rather husky man’s hand.
“ I heard you were in town, Tommy, so I thought I’d drop by and see how you and the others were,” Bulk told him as he surveyed the damage that the three Rangers were cleaning up.
“ Looks like you might could use some help. Skull, come on in here!” Bulk shouted, seconds before a skinnier man walked into the room.
“ Man, the Youth Center got trashed again? Haven’t seen that since the Power Rangers chased the bad guys outta the city. By the way, hey guys,” he said as he glanced at the damage.
“ Hey, Skull. You and Bulk decided to move back to Angel Grove, huh,” Jason said, saying it as more of a statement than a question.
“ Yeah, we missed bullying you guys,” he replied, grinning when Kim shot him a warning look.
“ He’s just kidding. We actually came back because we missed being here. That and we heard Jason was helping start a karate class for adults. We thought we’d join up,” Bulk said with a smile as he and Skull moved to start cleaning up the shattered remains of a table near the wall.
They’d no sooner finished dumping the remains in a giant trash can than the earth was rocked by an explosion somewhere in town. Bulk and Skull were a little frightened, but Jason and his two friends rushed towards the area where the bathrooms were.
“ Billy, what’s going on?” Tommy said into his Communicator.
“ You’re not going to believe this, but a super-charged Goldar is rampaging through the city near the mall. You need to get there immediately,” Billy told them.
“ He’s after Kira’s Gem. And she’s by herself,” Tommy said, immediately teleporting to the site of the disturbance.
He landed on the second floor, directly behind the balcony railing, his gaze automatically locating the offending monster attacking Kira, Trent, and a rather angry student from Jason’s teen karate class.
“ Hey, ugly! Pick on someone your own size!” Tommy challenged, morphing and jumping over the railing before running towards the monster.
“ The black Ranger. At last, we meet again. To bad – for you,” he sneered, blasting the Ranger in the chest with a blast from his sword.
“ Dr. O.! You’ll pay for that, you over-armored monkey!” Kira shouted, launching a volley of well-practiced kicks and punches at the ugly creature.
“ I’ll show you a monkey, mortal!” Goldar shrieked, about to charge his sword with energy before he was blasted by bursts of red and pink energy. It sent him flying, causing him to wind up in the parking lot outside.
Before he could recover, the black and red Rangers had grabbed him and hastily teleported away from there and to the beach a few miles away. The pink Ranger was – figuratively – right on their tail, and the three quickly unsheathed their Power Lasers, aiming them at Goldar.
“ How’d you get brought back? Zordon’s energy wave destroyed you,” Jason hissed angrily.
“ Foolish mortal. My molecules weren’t destroyed. They were left floating in space, where Rita’s half-sister recovered them and took me to the Moon Palace. She had had it rebuilt, and put me back together, giving me even more power than Rita could’ve hoped to give me. Enough power to defeat you fools!” Goldar sneered, firing off three quick bursts at the Rangers.
Jason and Tommy ducked in time, but Kim was hit in the center of her chest, knocking her back some twenty feet or so.
“ You’ll pay for that!” Jason screamed, running forward and firing blasts from his weapon as he lashed out with his feet and free hand. Every punch was blocked, and many of the bursts were redirected at him, forcing him – temporarily – out of the fight.
“ Today is the day I finally destroy you mortals!” Goldar screeched, charging even more energy into his sword. A blur of yellow energy suddenly streaked onto the scene, knocking Tommy down and out of the way as it sped toward Goldar.
Before the monster knew what hit it, it was lying back down on the ground, its sword gripped weakly in its hands, as the blur landed beside a recovered Tommy, Jason, and Kim.
“ The yellow Ranger! I should’ve known you’d show up,” Goldar rasped angrily, before getting knocked down a second time by a burst of blue energy from behind.
“ Mind if I crash the party?” a voice asked as the blue Ranger came into view beside the yellow Ranger.
“ Billy must’ve found replacements for the blue and yellow powers,” Kim murmured as the two new arrivals took up fighting stances.
“ Yeah. He sent us the Morphers. They came with some pretty cool powers, too,” a familiar voice said.
“ Ethan? Kira?” Tommy asked, as surprised as he was happy.

“ Two more Rangers make no difference! I will destroy you all!” Goldar screamed in fury as a familiar wand came flying out of nowhere, striking the ground near him.
Steam covered the ground nearby, and surrounded him briefly, causing him to grow to gigantic proportions.
“ Uh oh. Billy, do you have any zords ready for us?” Jason asked, contacting his friend via the connection the suits and powers had with the Command Chamber.
“ Sure do. They’re ready when you are,” Billy replied. Jason smiled under his helmet.
He raised his face to the horizon. “ We need Dino zord power now!” he shouted.
From the mountainous region, the mighty Tyrannosaurus arose, roaring his challenge as he ran towards the fight.
From the heated desert, the powerful Triceratops came awake, opening his mouth and letting the world know his intent as he ran forward.
From the icy cold regions seldom traveled, the huge Mastodon awoke, trumpeting his call as he moved to answer the summons.
From the plant-filled jungle regions, the swift Saber-Toothed Tiger arose, dashing towards the fight as she roared her call.
And from a fiery volcano, the flying Pteradactyl erupted, screaming her own special challenge as she went winging towards the fight.
“ Let’s do it!” Jason shouted as he and the others leapt through the air and landed in the cockpits of their zords.
“ Pteradactyl here, flying high,” Kim announced.
“ Saber-Toothed Tiger, itching for a fight,” Kira spoke up.
“ Mastodon online, ready to rumble,” Tommy said.
“ Triceratops, ready to knock out the competition,” Ethan intoned from the cockpit of his zord.
“ Tyrannosaurus, king of the dinosaurs, alive and dangerous,” Jason piped up.
“ Those puny new metallic toys can’t even touch me!” Goldar bragged, firing off a round of bursts from his sword at the Saber-Toothed Tiger and Triceratops zords to illustrate his point.
“ Ahhh, my systems can’t take too many more blasts like that!” Kira shouted from her cockpit in the Saber-Toothed Tiger zord.
“ Mine neither!” Ethan exclaimed from his zord.
“ We need Megazord Battle Mode power!” Jason called out, helping initiate the sequence that finally brought all five majestic machines together as one.
“ This thing even has a radio!” Ethan boyishly exclaimed.
“ You can almost literally feel the power flowing through here!” Kira piped up.
“ Focus, guys,” Tommy chided them, as the giant Megazord was piloted forward by the Rangers.
“ Hah! It didn’t stop me on our first fight, nor on our last one! What makes you think it can stop me now?” Goldar sneered at the five Rangers.
“ Take your best shot,” Kim challenged.
“ I will,” the giant freak retorted, charging his sword with an incredible amount of energy. With a roar that shook the ground, he threw the charge at the Megazord. It hit the Megazord’s chest – and exploded.
Goldar, thinking he’d won for once, started to shrink to normal size, but stopped when he heard a voice coming from the smoke.
“ Didn’t think that would finish us off, did ya?” Kira taunted him.
“ You’ve obviously lost your touch, old man,” Ethan added.
“ And you’ve forgotten what dealing with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is really about,” Kim put in.
“ Power Sword!” Tommy and Jason called out simultaneously. A bolt of white-colored energy streaked downward, solidifying in the Megazord’s right hand to reveal a wickedly-powerful-looking sword.
“ I’ll be back!” Goldar screamed, disappearing in a barely noticeable flash of white-colored light.
“ Yeah! See ya!” Ethan crowed, slapping Kira a jubilant high-five.
“ We did it!” Kira happily exclaimed.
The five Rangers exited the Megazord, watching it break apart and disappear to their hiding places.
“ I’d forgotten what being a Ranger was like,” Kim admitted to her boyfriend as they hugged.
“ Being the Gold Zeo Ranger was cool, but getting my old revamped powers back is the best!” Jason replied.
“ Let’s get back to the Command Chamber. I think we should more thoroughly discuss our new powers with Billy,” Tommy put in.
The six touched the sides of their buckles, and disappeared in beams of red, blue, black, yellow, and pink light. Teleporting took them mere seconds, and soon they rematerialized on the small platform in the middle of the main room in the Command Chamber.
“ Billy, dude, you rock!” Ethan exclaimed, clapping Billy on the back when the man stepped forward.
“ Yeah. These new powers of ours are really cool,” Kira agreed, giving the slightly embarrassed guy a tight hug.
“ I can’t take all the credit. Like I said, Cam and Hayley did two-thirds of the work,” Billy told them after shaking hands with Tommy and Jason, and getting another hug – this time from Kim.
“ I think Kim, Tommy, and I should talk with Billy about our powers. We can update you later, if you’d like,” Jason told the two younger Rangers. They glanced at Tommy before nodding and teleporting away.

“ Man, this is so cool. I’m a blue Ranger again and practically the same zord! I bet you’re jealous,” Ethan mockingly smirked at Conner.
“ Dude, I’m so not jealous. I mean, while you’re fighting these creeps and saving the world, I’ll be playing soccer and meeting gorgeous women like Kylie Stiles,” Conner retorted, earning a snort of laughter from Kira.
“ As if. She’s on a record tour around the country, Conner. And as I recall, she didn’t exactly fall all over you that time in Reefside,” Kira reminded him, earning short bursts of laughter from her boyfriend and Ethan.
“ She got you there,” Trent spoke up.
“ Oh, come on, dude. Your girlfriend’s a Power Ranger again, and you’re an aspiring artist. Don’t tell me you’re not jealous,” Conner told him.
“ Actually, I’m not. Since I really can only draw superheroes, I’ll be able to draw Kira all I want, without the world knowing our connections with each other,” Trent said with a smile.
“ I’m glad you four are having a good time, but maybe you should be getting to Angel Grove University. Despite Kira and Ethan being Rangers, you still need to try and lead as normal a life as possible,” Hayley said as she came up to the corner the four were sitting in.
“ I’m driving,” Conner announced.
“ Oh, no, I am. You’re liable to stop in the middle of traffic and try to pick up a girl along the way,” Ethan said.
“ I so would not. And you’d probably treat driving through a new town like playing one of your new games,” Conner retorted.
“ I’m driving. Anyone got any complaints?” Kira asked, planting her hands on her hips.
“ Dibs on shotgun!” the two guys said at the same time, rushing past her to try and beat each other to Hayley’s van.
Kira shook her head in exasperation. “ If I didn’t know any better, I’d say those two were still in high school. And here we’re about to start college. Wonder what new tricks they’ll pull,” she murmured with a smile, giving Hayley a hug before taking Trent’s hand and walking out to the parking lot.
“ Those kids,” Hayley mumbled, enlisting the help of Bulk and Skull to help finish cleaning up what little mess remained in the gym part of the Youth Center.
* * * * *
A week had passed since the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had fought Goldar, a week that had – surprisingly – been completely free of monster or Putty sightings.
Ethan and Kira were having lunch in the room that Kira was currently singly occupying; Conner was at soccer tryouts, and Trent was at the Youth Center, helping Hayley get her plans organized for redoing part of the Youth Center.
As the other three Rangers were at the Command Chamber, the yellow and blue Rangers had time to relax.
“ I can’t believe we’re Rangers again,” Kira said, taking a bite of her ham, lettuce, cheese, and mayo sandwich.
“ Yeah, me neither. I mean, of course I’m glad to be a Ranger again. I missed not having powers and fighting to protect people. It’s just that – well – we’re in a new town. Angel Grove, the place where the first ever team of Rangers originated. And now we have some of their old powers? It’s a little intimidating. Even for a master gamer like me,” Ethan added with a grin as he sipped his iced coke.
“ I know what you mean. I’m thinking about having a talk with Billy sometime soon. Maybe get him to tell a bit of the original Ranger’s history, some of their fights and victories, stuff like that,” Kira mused aloud.
“ I just hope we don’t ever have to face anyone evil, like Trent used to be when he was under the influence of the White Dino Gem,” Ethan spoke up.
“ I don’t know if that’ll happen, at least, not anytime soon. We’ve had a full week with no fights or bad guy sightings? If you ask me, I think Goldar and his new whatever-she-is are massing their forces. Those Putties weren’t even phased by my kicks and punches. At least the Tyrannodrones went down when I fought them unmorphed,” Kira complained.
“ You didn’t have power when you first fought the Putties. Duh, that’s why,” Ethan told her, shaking his head, a smile on his face.
“ Yeah, I guess so,” Kira agreed.
“ Hey, when are you gonna get a roommate? A room like this isn’t gonna go unnoticed for long. It’s one of the biggest rooms for freshmen there is in this dorm,” Ethan spoke, changing the subject.
“ I don’t know. I talked with the floor supervisor yesterday, and she said that I should be getting a roomie within another weeks. Maybe less. I wonder what she’ll be like,” Kira mused, tossing the sandwich wrapper into the trash can by the bed as she thought over this.
Before the two could say anything else, a knock came at the door.
“ Come on in,” Ethan called out, tossing his empty food wrapper into the trash as well.
The door opened, and the floor supervisor stepped into the room.
“ Kira, I just came to tell you that we found you a roommate. And she’ll be here late this afternoon or sometime tomorrow. Will that work for you?” the attractive woman wanted to know.
“ Sure. Can’t wait to meet her. Thanks for letting me know,” Kira said, waving as the woman left the room.
“ Well, guess that means you’ll have to make sure you have a good excuse for your roomie when your Communicator starts beeping,” Ethan pointed out to her.
“ Yeah. And I’ll have to let Dr. O., Billy, and Kim and Jason know as well. Dr. O. will want to have Billy do a background check on her, since she’ll be around on the off-chance that she happens to hear a conversation of ours,” Kira said, thinking about what her new roommate was going to be like.
Ethan’s Communicator chose that moment to start beeping. The two glanced out the doorway to make sure no one was listening in before Ethan replied.
“ Blue here. What’s wrong?” he asked.
“ Rangers, there is a disturbance out near the Youth Center. You must go help your teammates,” Alpha 5’s familiar voice told them.
“ On our way,” Ethan replied as he and Kira took out their morphers.
“ It’s Morphin Time!” Kira called out.
“ Triceratops!” Ethan intoned.
“ Saber-Toothed Tiger!” Kira voiced.
The second they were morphed, they clasped their belt buckles, thought of the Youth Center, and were instantly teleported away.

“ Man, these guys really are tougher than Rita’s original goons,” Kim said as she did a leg-sweep and double-gut punch to two attacking Putties.
“ Agreed on that,” Jason replied, doing his own specialty – the tornado kick – on three different Putties who kept attacking him.
“ Wonder where the others are,” Tommy mumbled, seconds before two colored beams of light appeared to reveal the two morphed Rangers.
“ Ready to kick clay butt?” blue asked yellow.
“ Oh yeah. These guys are just asking for it,” yellow replied.
With that, the two went to work, fighting alongside their fellow Rangers. When it appeared a bit more power was needed, the five withdrew their Power Lasers, alternately firing them while kicking and punching anything evil that came their way.
It took the Rangers the better half of ten minutes, but they managed to beat the Putties – finally – and teleported to a safe location in the Youth Center, where they demorphed and calmly walked out of the restrooms and into the gym area.
Ethan went to the arcade room, while Kim and Jason went to help Hayley and Trent. Kira pulled Tommy aside to talk to him in a private corner, away from people exercising.
“ Is something wrong, Kira?” Tommy asked her.
“ No, Dr. O. I just got word from my floor supervisor at Angel Grove University that my new roomie would be arriving tonight or tomorrow. I thought you should know, so you and Billy could do that background check you talked about,” Kira told him.
“ You don’t’ have a problem with us doing that?” Tommy wanted to know.
“ Not really. I mean, we’re Rangers, and we have to take precautions to keep ourselves safe,” she told him.
“ Good. If you’ll excuse me, I’ll teleport to the Command Chamber and let Billy know. By the way, feel free to use the equipment if you want to, or the arcade. That’s what they’re here for,” Tommy told her before walking away.
Kira glanced around her, wondering what would be the best thing for her to do. Her mind got made up for her when Ethan motioned for her to follow him.
She did, and soon found herself in a thirty foot wide-by-thirty foot long-by-nine foot tall game room.
A pool table, air hockey table, and skee-ball machine – plus over half a dozen game machines – filled the room. Quite a few kids were already at a few of the machines, and Ethan led Kira over to the one called Dino Fantasy Revolution.
A black girl in purple was standing by the left chair, and a white guy in green and white was sitting in the left chair. Ethan sat in the right chair, motioning for Kira to stand beside him.
“ These guys challenged me to a game, and I needed a second to play against the girl, so I called you,” Ethan explained as he set up his character, a black humanoid figure in cave-man type clothing.
“ I’m not much of a gamer, Ethan,” Kira told him, glancing quickly at the girl, who shrugged.
“ Neither am I. Nikolas dragged me here when he saw this game, and as he’s my best friend, I didn’t really wanna say no. I’m Sierra, by the way. Ethan already introduced himself,” the girl said with a smile.
“ I’m Kira. What’s this game supposed to be like? I’ve never heard of it before,” Kira wanted to know of Sierra.
“ Oh, it’s supposed to be really fun. You play a caveman or cavewoman, who lives in the time of the dinosaurs. You have to be the first one to catch and tame a certain amount of dinosaurs to win the game. There’s a bunch of other ways to get extra points, too."
" And if you’re really lucky – though newbies like you and I would hardly qualify – you can gain the power to temporarily transform yourself into whichever dinosaur you first caught and tamed,” Sierra quickly explained as Ethan and Nikolas began playing.
“ Sounds cool. And complicated,” Kira added with a smile.
“ Yeah, it is, at first. At least, that’s what Nikolas told me. Anyways, this game won’t be here long. The machine’s being taken out, and replaced with a different one."
" But the new owner of this place is having a computer room built onto the arcade, taking up the room where the old unused storage rooms used to be here in the Youth Center. And the game’s going to be put onto the computers, so I know that’ll make Nikolas happy,” Sierra said with a laugh.
“ It’ll make Ethan happier, too,” Kira agreed.
“ Um, Sierra? Could you go get us a couple of drinks?” Nikolas asked the black girl.
“ Yeah. Cokes, or smoothies or something,” Ethan added.
Sierra nodded at the two drinks that were sitting in between the boys.
“ I think that’s guy talk for ‘give us a little room and quit talking so much.’ Wanna go get a smoothie with me? Ernie’s going to be working here part-time again, and he makes the absolute best smoothies,” she told Kira.
“ Sure. Let these boys play their game,” Kira said with a toss of her hair as she walked away with Sierra.
The two went to the counter, and ordered their drinks.
“ I’ll have a Lady’s Breath smoothie,” Sierra told Ernie.
“ I’ll have a pina-colada smoothie. What’s a Lady’s Breath smoothie?” Kira wanted to know after Ernie moved to fix the drinks.
“ It’s basically a pina-colada smoothie, with a dash of strawberry-pineapple flavoring,” Sierra explained.
“ Sounds good. Mmmm, you were right. These are good,” Kira said a few minutes later, after Ernie handed them their drinks and they paid for them.
“ Yeah. Like I said, Ernie’s the best,” Sierra said.
The two girls talked for a good while longer, moving from the counter to a table as they traded stories and tales of their lives. Several hours later, Sierra happened to glance at her watch.
“ Yikes, I’ve gotta get back to Angel Grove University. If I’m not back, my floor supervisor’s gonna be ticked off. I promised to help her make sure this new kid in town settles in okay,” Sierra told Kira, getting up and tossing the empty cup into the nearby trash can.
“ You attend AGU? Me too. What’s your supervisor’s name?” Kira asked her.
“ Lexi. Really nice, but don’t wanna get on her bad side.”
“ Hey, she’s my supervisor too! You live on the third floor at Harrison Hall?”
“ Yeah. I’m supposed to be helping the new girl move into room 214.”
“ Cool, that’s my room. I’d heard I was getting a roomie today or tomorrow. We’d better get back there pronto,” Kira said as she tossed her stuff into the trash as well.
“ Our guy friends are obviously not budging for a while yet. Why don’t we take my bike back to the dorm? We can’t leave Nikolas here without his bike, unless you’d rather we take your vehicle,” Sierra added with a glance back at Kira as they walked outside.
“ Nah, your bike’s fine,” Kira replied as she climbed onto the back part of the two-person motorcycle. Sierra handed her an extra helmet, put her on helmet on, revved the bike up, and then they were off.

Ten minutes later they were driving into the student parking lot behind Harrison Hall. A rather large brand-new black van was sitting in one of the student spots reserved only for students on the third floor; they parked beside it, casually glancing at the exterior of the van.
“ I think I saw a business card on the floor on the driver’s side. Must be someone bringing their kid in,” Sierra mused.
“ I think this belongs to the parents of the girl I’ll be rooming with. Or, maybe to the girl herself. We’d better get inside. I saw a man carrying three suitcases going through the back door just as we pulled up,” Kira said, removing her helmet and handing it to Sierra before the two girls walked inside.
They took the back stairs, so they could reach Kira’s room before the possible visitors did.
Kira had barely shut the door and tossed her light-weight jacket over her desk chair before there was a knock on the door.
Sierra opened it, stepping back as Lexi entered the room.
“ There you are, Sierra. Was wondering where you’d gotten to. Kira’s new roommate is here. Girls, I’d like to introduce you to your new dorm mate, Natasha Hastings,” Lexi said, just before another girl came into the room.
Kira and Sierra gave the girl quick once-overs before shaking her hand.
“ I’m Kira Ford, and this is Sierra,” Kira told her as the girl glanced around the room.
* * * * *
I nervously shook the two stranger’s hands as I slowly glanced around the room. It was definitely smaller than my old room at home, but it looked a lot more comfortable than I thought it would, considering I’d be sharing it with another girl for a few semesters.
“ Well, I’ll leave you three alone to get acquainted,” the woman called Lexi said before walking back down the hall and disappearing around the corner.
Before either of the other two women could say anything, the older guy that’d driven me here stepped inside, carrying the three suitcases I hadn’t been able to carry. He set them down on the side of the room that was obviously to be mine, then turned to me.
“ Is that all, Natasha?” he asked me.
“ Yeah, Manny, that’s all the stuff I decided to bring. I only brought some of my outfits, because you said I could buy some new stuff here in Angel Grove,” I told him, setting my purse and two suitcases on the bed before hugging him tightly around the neck.
“ Very well. You know, if you need anything, you have only to call. If I can’t come, one of the servants or guards will. I’ll be calling back in two days to make sure you’ve got settled in. well, I’d best be getting back to Reefside. I have a meeting with the board of directors."
" Good day to you, Natasha. Good day, ladies,” he said to the two strange women before bowing his head slightly and leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
Once again, I turned to face them. “ That was Manny. He’s a good friend of my late father,” I explained when they gave me questioning glances.
“ Oh, ok. Well, do you need help unpacking? I’m supposed to help make you feel at home here, and I can honestly say I love meeting new people. Kira and I just met this afternoon,” the one called Sierra informed me.
“ Well, if you wanna help me, I’d be glad to have a couple of girls my age to talk to. I assume you’re bother around eighteen or nineteen?” I asked, moving to lift my other suitcases onto my bed as well.
“ Nineteen,” both girls said at the same time, causing me to smile.
“ Cool,” was all I said as I opened all my suitcases to reveal the contents inside. Kira and Sierra got astonished looks on their faces when I opened the suitcase that contained the majority of the jewelry I’d decided to bring.
“ Whoa. That is one beautiful necklace. Would you mind too much if I tried it on?” Kira asked, eyeing a delicate yet sturdy gold chain; it had a yellow-and-black gemstone pendant on the end of the necklace, and the pendant was in the shape a lightning bolt.
“ Sure,” I said with a casual shrug as I began to pack my clothes into my closet and dresser, with Sierra’s help. I’d gotten just a few pieces of clothing unpacked before Kira let out an appreciative whistle.
“ Wow. This thing couldn’t have come cheap. These look like real jewels,” she said as she admired the way the necklace fit her, via looking in the mirror on her side of the room.
“ Well, I got it for free. Manny let me have for Christmas last year, since it was the first year I was eligible to get hold of fifty-one percent of Hastings Industries, the company he and my father ran, before my father passed away two years ago,” I told her, expertly masking the sadness my father’s death still slightly caused me.
“ Wow,” was all Kira said.
“ And they are real jewels, by the way. If I’m not mistaken, the yellow jewels are yellow diamonds, and the black jewels are onyx,” I added with another casual shrug.
That got yet another reaction out of my new roommate. “ That’s – wow. This thing is really beautiful,” she whispered in awe as she more thoroughly examined the pendant and chain after taking it off.
A second later, she replaced it back in its proper suitcase, then came over to help me and Sierra unload the rest of my clothes.
We chatted amicably for the better part of an hour, while unloading all my clothes and makeup and toiletries and other stuff I’d packed. When that was done, Sierra said she had to get going, because she had to call her friend Nikolas and make sure he’d gotten back to his dorm okay.
This left me and my new roommate alone. “ I don’t want to bother you or anything, but can you show me around a bit of the town? I’m originally from Reefside, and I’ve never been here before, though my father came here on a few business deals,” I told her.
“ Sure, no problem. Lemme check in with my friends first, okay?” she asked.
“ Take your time. I’ll just be in the bathroom down the hall, straightening my hair,” I replied, grabbing my purse and a hairbrush – plus a green scrunchie – before leaving the room.
Lexi had shown me most of the places I’d need to know, before she’d showed me my room, so I knew my way around the floor a little bit.
No one else was in the bathroom, so I took my time to carefully brush out my hair and put it up in the scrunchie. That done, I put on the slightest hint of lipstick and eye shadow, then put everything back in the purse and exited the bathroom.
Kira was just coming down the hall, and we took the elevator down to the first floor, where we went outside and to the student parking lot.
“ Oh, I can’t believe it. I told Ethan to have my car back here before we were ready to leave. Guess he’s still at the Youth Center. I’ll have to call my friend and ask her if she can pick us up,” Kira said, starting to walk over to a nearby payphone.

She stopped two feet away when Manny’s familiar black van pulled up, and he and one of his bodyguards stepped out.
“ Something wrong, Manny?” I asked him.
“ No, Natasha. I had to go pick up your new motorcycle from the Kawasaki dealership, the bike I told you I’d ordered a week before we left to bring you here,” Manny said as he unlocked the back of the van, and the guard helped him lift a beautiful green-and-black-and-silver bike out of the back.
The bike was mostly green, with lightning-shaped stripes of black and silver interspersed between sections of green.
Two helmets – colored to exactly match the bike – were sitting on the two seats. I squealed in giddy delight as I tightly hugged both Manny and the guard.
“ This is so cool. I finally got my own motorcycle! Thank you so much, Manny. Now my friend can help show me around the town without having to bother any of her friends,” I said, taking the keys from Manny’s outstretched handed and motioning for Kira to get onto the back seat part of the bike.
We both put our helmets on, readjusted the straps as needed, and I revved the bike up.
“ This is pretty cool,” Kira had to admit, noticing – as I did – that the engine wasn’t as loud once it’d settled down.
“ She’s right. This thing rocks! Talk to you later,” I told Manny, giving him a thumbs-up sign before driving off the campus and onto the road. I listened to Kira’s instructions, and soon we were pulling up to a rather nice-looking building.
“ This is the Youth Center. A friend of mine from Reefside owns it. You did say you from Reefside, didn’t you?” Kira asked me as we tucked our helmets under our arms and entered the building.
“ Yeah, but I got half of my high school education at home, and didn’t like to go out too much during the time the town kept getting attacked,” I told her, glancing around the interior of the building.
“ Oh, well, anyways, my friend Hayley just bought the place. My friends Ethan, Conner, and Trent are probably all still here. And if they’re still here, I’m betting Hayley, Kim, Jason, and Dr. O. are too,” she said with a shrug.
I nearly stopped in my tracks at that, but kept walking anyways, until we entered a gym-like room. A rather skinny man and a rather husky man were straightening a mat under a balance beam, and a group of two women and four women were chatting on chairs nearby.
And one of those men were definitely familiar. Their chatter stopped when they saw Kira approaching with me.
“ Hey, Kira, this your new roomie?” the young black guy asked.
“ Yeah. Her name’s Natasha Hastings. These two guys are my friends Conner and Ethan That hunk in white is my boyfriend, Trent. This woman is Hayley, this man is Jason, and his girlfriend, Kim. And last but not least is a former teacher from Reefside High – ”
“ Dr. Oliver? I didn’t know you were moving here, too,” I said in disbelief.
“ Natasha Hastings? You aren’t Ben Hastings’ daughter by any chance, are you?” Trent asked me, and it was at that time I recognized him, but before I could reply to him, Dr. Oliver spoke up.
“ I was about to ask the same thing,” he told me.
“ Yeah, he was my dad,” I replied, as much to him as to Trent.
“ I was sad to see that. He was a good guy,” Dr. Oliver mused.
“ Yes, well, I choose not to dwell on that. Although I will say that if the Dino Thunder Rangers had done their job – particularly the black Ranger – in protecting my dad’s new store from those foot-soldiers, he’d still be here,” I replied, my voice having noticeably cooled down a notch or two.
Everyone squirmed uneasily in their seats, and Conner decided to change the subject.
“ So, you’re from Reefside, huh? How come you decided to move here to Angel Grove?” he wanted to know. At that, my temper was eased, and I sat down with them.
“ Well, I was going to attend Reefside University, but when I started checking around, and I signed up for the mailing lists for several colleges and universities, AGU was one of the first to answer back, saying they were interested in meeting with me."
" A few weeks after meeting several of the staff members, and here I am now. My father’s business partner and best friend, Manny, drove me here to Angel Grove,” I informed all of them.
“ How’d you and Kira get here, though? I still have her car,” Ethan said, earning a look from Kira that obviously said she was a little stewed about that.
“ Manny and one of his bodyguards came back and brought me the motorcycle that Manny had helped me order a week ago. I drove,” I casually said, just as Jason’s watch thingie beeped.
He got up and walked a few feet away, turning his back to our little group for a little bit before he sighed and returned.
“ Guys, we’ve got a situation that just came up. That scan we tried to run on our computers went haywire, and now we need to go see if we can help Billy fix it,” he told the others. They glanced at each other, then at me.
“ Kira, maybe you should ride with Natasha back to the dorm. She might get lost,” Jason suggested.
“ Nah, I believe I can find my way back. If not, I can call Manny to let him give me directions back there,” I casually said, getting out of the chair and slipping my helmet back on. Kira handed me her helmet, staring doubtfully at me.
“ You sure, Natasha?” she wanted to know.
“ Please, call me Nat. My few friends in Reefside did. And yeah, I’ll be fine. Good meeting you all,” I said, starting to go.
“ Mind if I take a look at your bike? I was thinking about getting one, as soon as I can afford one,” Conner asked me.
I motioned for all of them to follow me. The two guys straightening the mat beneath the balance beam left as well, and it wasn’t many minutes before they caught up with us. The woman called Hayley locked everything down, and we finally went outside to my bike.
“ Whoa, that’s one sweet ride,” Ethan said with a whistle.
“ Dude, I so wish I could get one like it, though with red instead of green,” Conner commented.
“ It is rather nice,” the woman called Kim commented.
“ Well, since you said you had stuff to do, I guess you’d better get going. Tell your friend Billy, or whatever his name is, that I hope your computers get fixed. TTFN,” I said with a wave before driving off into the early nighttime traffic.

The five Rangers made sure the girl was gone before they teleported to the Command Chamber; Hayley would be driving Trent and Conner back to the university campus.
When they landed, they found a rather frantic Alpha 5 going over some data scans from the nearby computers.
“ Billy, we got your message. What’s wrong?” Tommy asked as he and the others walked forward.
“ We’ve doing a scans on the Dragon Power Coin, searching for its signature, for the past hour, and just as we went to run over the grid again, the scanners went haywire. We started picking up readings of various power levels all over Angel Grove, no single point seeming to be the center or focus for the rest,” Billy informed the group.
“ Did you get the background check done one Kira’s roommate, and the girl’s family?” Jason wanted to know.
“ Yes, I did. And the background check came out clean. No dirty dealings or a shady past, at least none that our scanners could detect. Found out the girl’s father – the rather financially well-known Benjamin Hastings – died in two-thousand-five, when a group of Tyrannodrones attacked his new business and then attacked him,” Billy said.
“ Hmm, she told us her dad was killed. I can’t remember what else she said. Something about the Dino Thunder Rangers,” Tommy mused.
He asked the others if they could remember, but it’d apparently escaped their minds as well.
“ If you remember, let me know. I’ve got to get back on trying to stabilize the scanners before they get fried,” Billy remarked, walking off towards Alpha.
“ Well, guess we’d better be getting back to campus. You and I have classes tomorrow,” Ethan reminded Kira.
“ See you guys tomorrow,” Kira said, and with a wave of her hand she and Ethan teleported away from there.

I finished drying myself off before slipping into the green-and-silver lightning-bolt-covered ankle-length sleeveless nightgown that I’d draped over the chair against the wall.
That done, I blow-dried my hair, put it in a braid down my back, tucked my dirty clothes into my clothes bag, then turned off the bathroom light and left.
I was just to the dorm-room door when Kira exited the elevator nearby.
“ Was wondering if you were gonna stay with your friends all night or not,” I idly said, yawning before going into the room.
“ I had some – things to attend to there. Where we went. Look, if it’s all the same to you, I’m going to skip the shower and go straight to bed,” said opening her closet as she shuffled through the clothes and selected a yellow sleeveless knee-length nightgown.
I turned my back as I pulled down my covers, then stashed the dirty clothes in the corner. After that, I tiredly climbed into bed, pulling the covers up to my waist as I turned the bedside lamp off.
Within mere minutes, I was asleep, the gentle breeze blowing through the open window barely billowing through the curtains above my bed.
* * * * *
“ What was the name of the time during which the asteroid struck the Earth and destroyed the dinosaurs? Anyone?” Dr. Oliver asked the class. I glanced around me, noticing that only a few of the eighty students had their hands raised.
Tentatively, I raised my own hand, causing the teacher’s eyes to turn to me.
“ Um, the Cretaceous Period?” I hesitatingly answered.
“ Thank you, Ms. Hastings. You just saved the entire class from having to do a five-page report on the event,” Dr. Oliver told me with a small smile. Glad sighs swept through the students, just as the bell for the end of class rang.
I gathered up my books and papers, stuffing them carefully into my backpack before walking over to and out of the door. Kids streamed around me, chattering and laughing happily amongst themselves.
It’d been a full two weeks since I’d first come to Angel Grove and started classes at the university, two weeks that’d been interspersed with the occasional visit to the Youth Center, or one of the weekly parties that any number of the floors in the various dormitories held.
And as it just so happened, I was invited to a Harrison Hall party on the beach, which would be taking place tonight, starting at six o’clock, and running until one o’clock in the morning tomorrow.
I’d been invited by Sierra, our floor supervisor’s roommate. Even as I was remembering her inviting me, Sierra herself came strolling up beside me, her backpack slung over one shoulder.
“ Heya, Nat, what’s shaking?” she asked me, a smile on her dark-skinned smooth-complexioned face.
“ Not too much, Sierra. Got a few papers due next week, wanna buy that CD I told you about last night, and can’t wait until tonight’s party,” I told her.
“ Cool about the CD, the papers can wait until tomorrow, and we’re going shopping to get you a new swimsuit,” she informed me.
“ Sierra, I have a swimsuit already. What’s wrong with it?” I wanted to know.
“ Nothing, nothing at all. It’s just that I saw this killer suit over in the mall, and I think you should try it on,” she said.
“ Well, I have been looking for another excuse to go shopping for new clothes. It’s a deal. Meet my room at three. My friend Manny will have arranged a mode of transportation for us by then,” I told her, walking off by myself.
I said hello to a couple of familiar faces from my floor on Harrison Hall, stopping for a few minutes to chat with some friendly people I’d gotten to know during my time here.
“ Hey, Natasha! Wait up!” Conner called. I turned around to see him hurrying across the grass towards me.

“ See you later,” the girl I’d been talking to said to me.
“ Adios,” I called after her before stopping and waiting for Conner to catch up to me.
“ Hey, what’s up?” he asked.
“ Nothing much. There something you need?” I queried.
“ Um, well, yeah, there was something I was wanting to know,” he mumbled, acting shy all of a sudden.
“ Yeah?”
“ Well, I was wanting to know – you know – if you’d be my date to the beach party tonight. They’re supposed to be having a two-legged race, and a limbo pole’s already been set up,” he hesitantly said.
I grinned at him. He was kinda cute, once you gave him a real once-over. His sometimes still-boyish attitude and playful eyes belayed an inner childishness that could easily be overlooked, if one wasn’t looking correctly.
“ Sure, I’d love to be your date. I promised Sierra I’d go shopping with her before the party, though. I’ll have to ask her if you can come along,” I mused aloud.
“ Oh, that’s okay. I’ll let you girls shop by yourselves,” he said with mock horror, backing a step or two away, all the time smiling.
“ Oh, you big ninny. I’ll see you tonight,” I scoffed, turning once more and heading in the direction of Harrison Hall.
Ten minutes later, and I was off the phone with Manny. He’d agreed to have a black-and-red convertible there by three, so this left me with an hour and a half to get ready for my shopping trip.
Shrugging, I grabbed my bag of bathroom supplies, tossed a robe and a pair of undergarments over my arm, and headed straight for the bathroom.
There were only a few girls in there – Lexi, Sierra, and Kira – so I tossed my bag into the corner, took out the stuff I’d need, then headed into my favorite shower stall; it was the one that had the hottest water.
I slipped off all my clothes, tossed them over the shower stall – Sierra was there to catch them and put them with my bag – then slipped on the shower cap and turned the water on full blast.
Unlike some dormitories or colleges, this hall had showers with jets in the walls instead of a shower head, a thing I was grateful and happy to have. I hummed silently to myself as I washed every square inch of my body.
It didn’t take long to take the shower, and soon I was walking back down the hallway and into the room.
Kira wasn’t there – though I thought she would be, in preparation for the party – so I shrugged and put everything back where I kept it.
Instead of immediately changing into my clothes, I laid back against the pillows at the head of the bed, plucking a book I’d been reading off the top of the nightstand.
It was one of the books I’d been meaning to read for awhile, but one the library in Reefside never seemed to have when I went there.
So immersed in the book was I that I barely noticed the time passing until Sierra came in to remind me to get ready. Hurriedly, I put a marker in the book and tossed it in the top drawer of the nightstand, then selected the clothes I was going to wear shopping.
“ Did your friend Manny say what kind of vehicle he was having sent?” she wanted to know as I brushed and braided my hair.
“ You’ll see when we get to the parking lot,” was all I would tell her as I grabbed my purse and locked the door behind me.
We met a few chattering couples and groups on our way down to the parking lot, and even a few headed the same way we were.
I smiled when I got outside and saw a small group of five girls and guys hanging around m parking space.
“ Hey, Nat, someone parked a convertible in your spot, by your bike,” one of the girls called out to me, causing me to smile back at her.
“ Oh, it’s mine. I had it sent over from Reefside,” I casually said as Sierra silently gaped at the car as she climbed into the passenger seat.
“ This thing is awesome. My bike’s cool and everything, but it is two years old. Wonder if I could trade it in for something like this?” she mused aloud as I drove off the campus.
“ Don’t know, you’d have to ask. And as for it being cool, it’s just a car,” I calmly told her.
“ Just a car, huh. If it’s just a car, then how about letting me drive it?” she challenged. I braked as we pulled up to a stoplight behind an eighteen wheeler truck.
“ Be my guest,” I said as I unbuckled the seat belt and slipped out of the car, walking around to her side and sliding in as she slid into the driver’s seat, and we both buckled back up.
We chatted amicably for many miles, until we pulled into the main Angel Grove mall. “ All right, it’s just a car. But it’s a sweet car, you gotta admit that.”
“ Yeah, it’s sweet. Let’s get going. I wouldn’t want to be later to the beach for my date with Conner,” I coyly said, loving the look of astonishment on her face.
“ He asked you to the beach party? Girl, we’ve gotta get something special for you to wear. That suit I saw will do, but you’ll need a ravishing pair of jeans to wear over it, plus some cool footwear. Hope you got your credit card or checkbook, ’cause we’re about to spend a whole lotta money,” she said, practically pulling me along.
It was like that for the next two hours, her pulling me into practically every clothing store there until I’d bought a pair of beach sandals, a new pair of green-rimmed black-lensed sunglasses, a pair of green-and-black jeans, a nearly see-through shawl like thing that would go around my waist whether I was wearing the jeans or not, and the one-piece swimsuit itself.
“ You were totally right. That suit is a killer. I hope it won’t distract too many people, or get me in trouble,” I thoughtfully said aloud.
“ If it gets you in trouble, I think it’d be worth it,” Sierra declared with a grin and a sip of her pina colada smoothie; the girl could drink those things like there was no tomorrow, which was yet another thing besides guys and books that we had in common.
We talked together for another thirty minutes or so, until it was time to drive back to the campus. This time, I let Sierra drive all the way, loving how hanging out with my best friend felt.
Back in Reefside, I’d not had many friends, and none that I frequently hung out with like I did here with Sierra. My thoughts were interrupted as we drove up to the campus and parked in my space.

Sighing – though out of happiness or not even I didn’t know at the moment – then grabbed my bags and purse and headed up to my room. I had less than half an hour to get ready – before time to leave for the beach – which meant no time for a shower.
I only had time to slip into the swimsuit, pull the jeans on, tie the thing around my waist, slip into my sandals, then undo, brush, and rebraid my hair.
As all this took twenty minutes – hey, females are famous for the time it takes them to get ready for parties and fun occasions – that left me with ten minutes to spare checking over my appearance and adding a water-proof watch to my right wrist to complete my outfit.
Time now running on mere fumes, I grabbed my purse and once more left the room, this time practically dashing out to the car, where Sierra was – of course – already waiting.
It took her five minutes less than me to get dressed for any occasion whatsoever; since she was usually waiting on me, I assumed it might’ve been more than five minutes. Shrugging this thought aside as I would an annoying fly, I put the car into gear and pulled out onto the road.
“ Sierra, do I look all right? I mean, I haven’t dated anyone in a long time, and I’m worried that I might be a little rusty,” I mused, glancing into the mirror every few minutes as I drove.
“ Please, if Conner ain’t following you around like a typical male follows a pretty woman around, then he ain’t worth your time. And if he turns out not to be the one, there will be plenty of other guys there that would be lucky to have you – or me,” she added with a laugh that lit up her face.
I laughed as well, glad to have a friend to help ease the nervousness I felt deep in the pit of my stomach.
As soon as we pulled up into the parking lot for beach patrons, that strange, unknown feeling returned. I tried to squash it, but didn’t quite succeed, and such jumped a bit when Sierra touched my shoulder.
“ Geez, you scared the life outta me!” I exclaimed, pressing my hand over my chest in an effort to still my rapidly-beating heart.
“ Calm down, girl. Look, I promised I’d meet Nikolas here. Is it okay with you if I go look for him? A lot of kids are here already, and I can see the beginnings of the central bonfire from here,” she said as she glanced towards the beach.
“ Sure, go on ahead. I’m just going to mosey on around,” I told her, moving away and across the dunes to do just that.
Dozens of people from Harrison Hall greeted me – and each other – as everyone milled around the cooling sands on the beach.
At seven o’clock, I’d still not spotted Conner – though I had spotted a make-shift stage being set up near the central bonfire. By eight o’clock I was rather worried. Kids were starting to dance to the music playing on boom boxes, and I’d even lost sight of Sierra due to the number of kids crowding the beach.
I was just about to give up hope of finding Conner, when an announcement came over the speakers near the makeshift stage.
“ Guys and gals, put your hands together for the amazing and very talented Ms. Kylie Stiles and Ms. Kira Ford!” a man’s voice announced, getting thunderous applause from everyone attending there, including me.
I stayed where I was, as close to the stage as I could get, as the kids started moving to the beat of the song that Kira and Kylie sang.
My fear overcame by joy when the song was over, and I quickly threaded my way through the dwindling crowd, going up to and past the stage to the closed-in back area, the part where Kira and Kylie were more than likely taking a break and snacking while drinking bottled water.
The latter part was true, although I only saw Kylie sitting in one of the chairs. Someone else was sitting in the chair, with their back to me, as was Kylie’s back.
“ I’m so glad you could make it to the party. Kira and I have been in touch over the past few years, you know. And I must admit, I did sorta miss you after I left Reefside. Even famous music stars like me get lonesome. I missed you as well, Conner,” Kylie told the person next to her.
I could see her place her hand on the man’s thigh. My mouth dropped open in disbelief. I especially couldn’t believe it when he took out his special red rock, a rock he said was good luck only for him, something he’d found near the ocean in Reefside his senior year of high school.
“ Hey, wanna hold this? It’s a gem that was given to me after graduation from Reefside High,” he told her, handing her the rather beautiful rock – or gem, as he’d called it.
“ Oh, it’s rather pretty. But it looks more like a rock. By the way, didn’t you have a date with Kira’s roommate? For the party tonight? Shouldn’t you be out there with her?” Kylie wanted to know of him.
“ Yeah, I was supposed to. And Nat’s a cool girl, she really is. But I didn’t really want to take her to the party,” Conner told Kylie with a shrug. I couldn’t help the gasp that escaped past my lips, causing both Kylie and Conner to get up and whirl around.
“ Conner, go to her,” Kylie told Conner, causing him to step forward.
“ Nat, I – ” he started to say, but I cut him short by raising my hand and glaring at him so hard that if my eyes could’ve shot darts, he’d have looked like a human pincushion.
“ Don’t you dare ‘Nat’ me, Conner! I can’t believe you did this to me! You’re nothing but a fool, and I’m an idiot for bothering to even get dressed up for you!” I screamed, rage and anger boiling up deep inside me.
“ Nat, please, I didn’t know you were standing there,” Conner pleaded with me. I sniffled, then bolted, running through the small crowd that’d gathered because of the yelling. “ Come back!” I heard Conner yell after me as he came chasing me.
“ No! Leave me alone, you male ape!” I shouted back over my shoulder, stumbling slightly then righting myself and running some more, after nearly falling over a hidden rock in my path.
I forced back the tears as I dashed across the sands, finally making my way past the last bonfire on the beach. It was darker past the fire, but I loved the dark as much as day, and didn’t have quite as big a problem seeing in it as did others.
I’d almost made it past where a group of dunes would hide me, but Conner suddenly leapt forward, grabbing my arm and spinning me around.

“ Nat, I’m sorry you heard that. I didn’t want to hurt you that way,” he protested.
“ Hurt me what way, Conner? Hurt me by saying you didn’t want to go to the party with me? Or hurt me by dumping me at a party for a famous pop star, like my last boyfriend dumped me for the cheerleading captain at another school?” I practically screamed.
Quite a few kids were drawn towards our argument, and that only made me angrier, especially so when Conner yanked me behind a large boulder.
“ Look, I’m sorry, okay? That’s all I can tell you,” he said, a shameful look on his face.
“ Sorry? You’re sorry? Oh, that’s just rich. That’s just so rich. You think you’re sorry? No, I’m sorry. Sorry I ever laid eyes on you,” I hissed, the anger threatening to overwhelm me.
“ Nat? Look, I think you need to calm down. Let’s go back and talk rationally about this,” Conner pleadingly said.
“ Let’s talk rationally? I’ll show you rational!” I screamed. I balled up my fists, moving towards him. He dodged out of the way of my left fist, causing it to smack into the rock.
I cursed and shouted at him, though where only he could hear, and used my other fist to deck him hard enough on the jaw to double him over on the ground.
“ N-Nat. Come back,” he wheezed before he passed out. I sniffed angrily, taking a handkerchief out of my jeans pocket and wrapping it around my bleeding fingers.
Before I could walk away, Dr. Oliver, Kira, Ethan, Trent, Kim, and Jason came hurrying around the boulder. Their astonished gazes fell on the unconscious Conner; Ethan, Trent, Kim, and Jason bent to check on him, while Dr. Oliver and Kira came towards me.
“ Natasha, what happened?” Dr. Oliver asked me, so I repeated everything I’d heard Kylie and Conner say.
“ I’ll go talk with Kylie,” Kira said, grabbing Trent’s and Ethan’s hands and dragging them off with her.
This left me alone with the other three people, two of which stayed on the ground, trying to wake Conner up, leaving Dr. Oliver to stand in front of me.
“ I can understand why you’d be angry, Natasha, but you need to calm down now. Go back to Harrison Hall. Jason and I can drive you,” Dr. Oliver said, reaching forward to grab my arm, but I backed away from him, my left fist throbbing with pain.
“ No, you don’t. And you can’t force me to go anywhere. But I want all of you to remember these words: ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scored,’” I practically spat at them. And with that, I bolted, running straight back for the bonfires.
I never noticed the rocks in my path, until it was too late. I tripped over one, and fell down. My head smacked against a rather dull rock, and I was out like a light.
* * * * *
Kim and Jason had seen the girl fall; Tommy tended to Conner while they went to check on the girl.
“ She not only hurt her head, her fist is bleeding as well,” Kim observed as she checked the girl’s head to see if it was bleeding. And – unfortunately enough for them – it was.
“ We can’t take her to a hospital, they’d question how she got like this in the first place,” Jason sensibly pointed out, just as Kira, Ethan, and Trent walked over.
“ Maybe we should take her back to the Command Chamber. I know Billy has the Med-Beds up and running,” Tommy whispered as Trent helped him bring Conner over next to the injured Natasha.
“ Yeah, but could we risk having her discover our identities? And risk having her go over to Goldar’s new mistress’ side?” Jason asked.
“ Guys, I don’t know about you, but I think we should take her to the Command Chamber. I mean, we are supposed to protect the innocents in this world,” Kim said, speaking up in the girl’s defense.
“ Yeah, if you call knocking Conner out innocent,” Kira muttered.
“ Billy, come in,” Kim said into her Communicator, opening a direct link to the Command Chamber.
“ This is Billy, what’s wrong?” the voice asked from the other end.
“ We need you to teleport an injured girl to the Command Chamber’s sick room. She has a head injury and a bleeding hand injury,” Kim informed him.
“ Locking onto coordinates. Teleporting now,” Billy replied, just as the girl’s body disappeared in a beam of sparkling white light.
“ Trent, Ethan, I want you two to stay here with Conner. His injury isn’t serious, I can tell – a dash of cold water should wake him up, though he’ll probably have a monster of a headache in the morning."
" Guys, let’s all try and get some sleep tonight. If Natasha wakes up in the morning, and is still angry at Conner, Billy may need help keeping her calm,” Jason told his comrades.
They all nodded, and all three older Rangers walked behind the boulder before finding a spot further away to teleport from. They had no idea what they were in for.
Unfortunately, neither did an unsuspecting Billy, who quickly – with the help of the careful Alpha 5 – began to clean the girl’s visible wounds before checking for internal injuries using the capabilities of the Command Chamber’s scanners.
“ She must’ve been really mad when she decked Conner. And it’s a good thing we’ve got technology that can rapidly heal her. This head wound looks rather bad,” Billy mused as he attached probes to the girl’s forehead and shoulders.
“ I only hope she has no lasting side effects,” Alpha 5 replied.
* * * * *
“ I don’t know about lasting side effects, Billy, but I can sense anger and pain in this young woman’s body. She may need another of her gender to be here for her when she wakes up,” Alpha 5 told Billy the next day.
The two were standing by Natasha’s Med-Bed, keeping an eye – or look, whatever – on the young woman’s vitals.
“ I may be her roommate, but this girl named Sierra is her best friend. Heck, they’re practically sisters. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sierra gives Conner the verbal lashing that Natasha gave him in the physical way,” Kira said, seconds after she’d teleported into the Command Chamber with Dr. Oliver.
“ We took a risk teleporting the young woman here. Do you Rangers think we should risk bringing another one in?” Alpha 5 wanted to know of the group.
He’d barely said the words – or, his circuitry had barely allowed him to sound the words – before Natasha began to stir.
“ Look, I think she’s waking up,” Billy said.
“ I can’t tell if she’s happy or in pain or both,” Kira opted to say.

A dull ache in my head reminded me that I was still alive, a fact I realized to a further degree when I wanted to move my arms and felt the actually moving.
Groaning in frustration, I slowly sat up, opening my eyes a tiny bit at a time – until I spotted the familiar faces of Kira and Dr. Oliver standing beside whatever it was I was laying on.
“ Where the heck am I?” I asked Dr. Oliver as I rubbed my sore right temple with my right hand.
“ You are in the sickroom,” a strange voice said from behind me. I turned around to see who it was – and my eyes practically leapt from their sockets.
“ Yikes! A talking, moving robot! I am outta here!” I exclaimed, jumping off the table thing and bolting away from the gathered group. Of course, I only got two steps before alarms suddenly started blaring in a room nearby.
“ Aye yi yi yi yi!” the little robot dude exclaimed as he and Billy shuffled out of the room, leaving me to glance around in partial fear.
It wasn’t long before Dr. Oliver and Kira left – though it was clear they sorely didn’t want to leave me alone in the room without supervision. And they were probably right to worry, because the second they were gone I started fiddling with some of the nearby buttons.
“ Teleporting sequence initiated,” a voice said after a few seconds. I barely had time to gasp before my body was turned into millions and billions of sparkling white-colored lights.
I’d barely grasped the fact that I was teleporting in the first place, when my body reformed once more, and I was able to look around again. And what I saw caused me to mumble a few choice obscenities under my breath.
“ Oh, great, now I’m in yet another town with monsters attacking it. This is just great. What else could possibly happen to me today?” I groaned, glancing around me once more.
“ Foolish mortal. You will die today,” an evil-sounding voice hissed, seconds before a sword flashed through the air directly in front of my face, causing me to stumble backwards, almost causing me to fall, though I managed not to do so.
“ What the – who are you? Or, what are you?” I queried, reaching behind me with my free hand, feeling along the rocky surface behind me for a weapon.
“ I am Goldar, head general of my mistress’ forces. And it is foolish to search for a weapon. Nothing human-made can defeat me!” the thing proclaimed, raising its sword high above its head in preparation to strike.
I grabbed the double-fist-sized rock that my hand closed over, then brought it forward and slammed it as hard as I could into Goldar’s hand. He screamed in pain before dropping his sword, and I quickly picked it up, though it was a little on the heavy side.
“ Leave me alone, you freak. I don’t want to fight you, and I’ll probably lose, but I can do some damage when provoked,” I warned him.
“ You will pay dearly for this, human,” he snarled, grabbing his sword and blasting me so hard that I went flying through the air, landing almost in someone’s lap.
A group of people closed around me, and I glanced up in fear at them. They were in some sort of Ranger costumes.
“ Why are you people dressed like Power Rangers? These freaks’ll get the best of you. Especially monkey boy over there. And I’m not gonna be around when they do,” I informed them, leaping to my feet and dashing away from the group.
I stumbled over rocks and boulders until I finally made it to relative safety atop a rocky cliff that jutted out over the ocean. Or, I thought I was safe, until that freak Goldar showed up, his sword glinting in the sunlight.
“ You die now, human!” he shouted in his freaky voice, slashing his sword in my direction. I jumped backwards – and straight out into thin air. My hands clawed for purchase on the slippery rocks, but found none, and I slipped and began to fall.
A scream filled my ears. And then – nothing. I was unconscious two seconds after my body impacted with the wave-topped ocean water.
* * * * *
“ Nooo!” Kira shouted, watching in horror as her roommate plunged into the ocean. She swung her fists and feet madly, trying to clear a pathway through the Putties. She’d barely done so before someone grabbed her suited arm, forcing her to turn around.
“ Kira, you can’t go after her,” Tommy told her from under his black helmet.
“ I’ve got to, Dr. O.! She’s an innocent in all this!” Kira practically screamed, shrugging off her teacher’s arm before using her Ranger speed to get her to the top of the cliff.
With barely a second thought, she jumped right off after Natasha, diving right under the water in search of her; her Ranger suit allowed her to breath under water, a fact she was currently thankful of.
Kim joined her a few seconds later, and together the two female Rangers searched for the young woman. They searched for a full hour – during which everyone but Ethan, the group’s look-out, joined in – but the only thing they finally found was a piece of paper-thin greenish fabric.
They all had heavy hearts as they climbed back up to where Ethan was standing, Kira still holding the piece of clothe in her now-demorphed right hand.
“ It was something she was wearing last night,” she murmured, touching her Wrist Communicator and teleporting away from the beach.
“ We should start searching again tonight, after the beach closes,” Ethan helpfully spoke up.
“ I guess so. We should get back to the Command Chamber, tell Billy and Alpha 5 what happened, see if they can find her by using her DNA to do a search on the area around here,” Jason said, and with that the four teleported away in various colored beams of light.
By the time they’d arrived in the Command Chamber, Kira was already there, and had told Billy everything that’d happened. Kim, Jason, and Tommy helped Alpha 5 run the scans that Billy had begun to set up, while Ethan and Kira opted to go back to Angel Grove University, on the off chance that Natasha might show up.

Deep beneath the waters, the body of the young woman was slowly sinking. She sank until she came to rest on the top of something that had a metallic look and feel to it.
The creature the body was on slowly began to awake, its mouth moving a bit as its eyes flashed a deep red, signaling that it was waking up. When it sensed the strange human on its head, it immediately moved to cause the young woman to float up in front of its face.
It fired a small beam of light at her wrist before firing another, bigger beam that instantly caused her to disappear in a flash of light.
At last, my true owner has returned,, it thought for the first in a long time as it closed its eyes in slumber once more.

“ I just hope she’s okay. I mean, if she washed up somewhere, and the Putties or Goldar got her, there’s no telling what they’d do to her,” Kim said to Hayley as the two women set up the portable scanner that Billy had given them.
“ From what I understand, she knocked Conner unconscious,” Hayley replied.
“ She’s still a civilian,” Kim retorted.
“ Yeah. Didn’t Billy say we should be getting a reading on this thing almost immediately if she was within three hundred feet of us?” Hayley suddenly asked.
“ Yeah, why?” Kim wanted to know.
“ Because, the scanners are showing that she’s beneath our feet somewhere.”
“ What? But there’s no entrance to a cave or anything around here.”
“ Even I know that. But it says she’s right here. Unless you’d rather check for yourself.”
“ No, Hayley, that’s okay. Guess I’d better contact Jase, let him know I’m going underwater to search for her,” Kim sighed, moving to press the button on her Wrist Communicator.
Before she could, a blast appeared out of nowhere, suddenly striking and frying the scanner on the ground, and sending Hayley and Kim tumbling to the ground.
The two stumbled to their feet and glanced around, and Kim couldn’t believe her eyes.
“ So, Pink Ranger, did you miss me?” the villainess asked her, a smirk on her face. Kim pressed the button on her Communicator, then had Billy teleport Hayley away; at the same time, the other Rangers arrived, already morphed.
“ What are you doing here, Scorpina?” Tommy demanded, his newly redone Power Axe gripped tightly in his gloved hands.
Kira brandished her Power Daggers. “ Yeah. I mean, where’d you get that outfit?” she sneered from under her helmet.
“ And I thought I’d seen some ugly-dressed women in my life,” Ethan muttered, idly twirling his Power Lance in his hands a few times.
“ Let’s do this!” Jason exclaimed, his familiar Power Sword gripped tightly in his hands. Kim morphed into the pink Ranger, and a blast of Power signified the appearance of her Power Bow.
“ It’s a bit different from the original, Kim. I was able to enable it to shoot only energy arrows. Simply pull back the string, and a volley of arrows will be released,” Billy’s voice informed her, causing her to smile under helmet.
“ I’m ready,” was all she said.
“ Putties, get them!” Scorpina called out, and a half-dozen of the clay-like creatures appeared down on the beach twenty yards away. “ Argh, that old fool never could send the foot-soldiers to the right place.”
With that, Scorpina blasted all five Rangers down to where the Putties were, then jumped down herself. And the Rangers had barely regained their footing when yet another monster arrived.
This one was familiar to the former Dino Thunder Rangers, and wasn’t a welcome sight for any of the Rangers.
“ It can’t be,” Ethan whispered.
“ I thought we destroyed him,” Kira moaned.
“ So, I see you’ve teamed up with the new villains on the scene. You were always an opportunist, Zeltrax,” Tommy said, keeping his calm despite the weirdness creeping in on him.
“ Tommy, you and Ethan handle Zeltrax. Kira, you handle the Putties. Kim and I will take Scorpina,” Jason ordered his teammates.
“ Oh, that’s going to be a lot harder than it sounds, Rangers. I’m going super-sized,” Scorpina told them, seconds before a wand identical to Rita’s struck the ground in the desert, causing steam to rise around Scorpina as she grew to gigantic proportions.
“ Tommy, Ethan, you’ll have to fight off the Putties and Zeltrax. Kim, Kira, and I will have to handle Scorpina,” Jason told the group.
“ We need Dino zord power now!” the two females and Jason called out, their right hands to the sky.
The three Rangers powered into their own zords, then used their powers to bring the zords together in the Megazord formation.
“ So, Black Ranger, it looks like you have a new costume,” Zeltrax said in his robotic-sounding voice.
“ Yeah, and I’m not rusty, either,” Tommy retorted, raising his Power Axe and charging his old foe.
The two began exchanging blows, energy blasts, kicks, and grunts of pain. Meanwhile, Ethan was battling the Putties by using his Power Lance.
“ Man, these guys just don’t give up! Think I’ll try a little something new,” he said to himself as he took out his Power Laser. He took the Lance apart, then placed the two pieces on either side of his Laser.
Blue energy began to pulse through the air, entering the barrel of the Laser, and lighting on the ends of the Lance.
“ Power Barrage!” Ethan called out, pulling the Laser’s trigger. A blue blast shot out from the Laser, and the charged up pieces of the Lance shot forward, annihilating every last Putty there before returning – hooked together – to Ethan’s outstretched hand.
“ That was so cool. Hold on, Dr. O., I’m coming,” he murmured, readying his Lance as he hurried over to where his teacher was fighting against the cyborg general from their Ranger past.

In the Megazord, Kim, Kira, and Jason weren’t faring as well. Scorpina – in addition to Goldar, Zeltrax, the Putties, and all the other new monsters – had gotten power upgrades up some kind.
And Scorpina was thoroughly beating the proud Megazord.
“ Power readings are showing system failure!” Kira exclaimed, trying to do her part to keep the Megazord on its feet.
“ We can’t take much more of this, Jase!” Kim told her boyfriend. She’d barely voiced the words before Scorpina’s stinger tail lashed forward, wrapping around the Megazord’s head as poison energy was shot through the stinger and into the Megazord itself.
As Scorpina retracted her tail, the Rangers were thrown from the Megazord to the sands below. Before Scorpina could destroy the Megazord completely, however, Billy teleported it away, causing her to scream in anger as she went back to her normal size and glared at the battered Rangers before her.
“ You fools will never win now. Your Megazord is almost un-operational, and you can’t hope to last much longer,” she sneered at them.
“ Man, we need some serious backup!” Kira moaned.
“ Billy, is there any way you can raise up Dragonzord for Tommy to use?” Jason voiced, since the Rangers’ link to the Command Chamber was still open.
“ No, not without the Dragon Power Coin and Morpher,” Billy sadly replied.
“ Isn’t there anything else you can send us?” Kim cried out.
“ I’m sorry, Rangers,” Billy whispered, where only the Rangers could hear.
“ Well I’m not giving up!” Tommy shouted, withdrawing his Power Axe and Laser and charging towards Scorpina. With a smirk on her evil face, the villainess blasted him backwards, causing him to land on the sand right back in front of his friends.
“ Jason, what else can we do?” Kira wanted to know of their leader.
“ Nothing!” Zeltrax shouted, blasting the standing Rangers down beside their fallen comrade. Their weapons fell to the ground beside them, and they stared through pain-filled eyes under slightly damaged helmets as the cyborg and the villainess laughed together.
“ Finally, we shall achieve what Rita never could!” Scorpina crowed.
“ The destruction of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!” Zeltrax added, holding his weapon high, and crossing it with Scorpina’s. They were just about to fire when they saw something rising out of the top of the nearby cliff Scorpina had been on.
“ What’s that?” she asked.
“ It matters not. Soon, we shall have the entire collection of Power Coins for our new empress,” Zeltrax informed her.
He got blasted back suddenly as a bolt of green energy hit him; and it came from the ocean itself. The pained Rangers looked to where the blast had come from.
“ What was that?” Ethan asked as he managed to climb to his feet and help the others up.
* * * * *
I slowly opened my eyes, a little scared when I realized that I was moving upward, and nothing was below me but empty air, then a smooth cave floor.
A beam of light widened above my head, and I realized that a boulder or rock was being moved back by some unseen force to allow me to pass through the roof of the cave.
Just as I landed on the top of what I now viewed as a cliff, I heard what the creep dude below me said, and saw the blast of green energy hit him. I also heard what the guy in the blue Ranger costume said, and I smiled.
Even as I did, I realized I was in a costume of my own, the one of the Green Mighty Morphin Ranger, to be exact.
“ Look, up there!” Pink’s voice said as she pointed towards me.
“ Oh no, the Green Ranger!” Red moaned.
“ It isn’t possible!” the scorpion-looking woman – or thing, or whatever she was – shouted. I grinned again as I calmly shrugged my shoulders.
“ Robo-dude, heard what you said about those Power Coins. I’m thinking you’re a little on the crazy side, because even if you got theirs, you still wouldn’t have mine,” I informed him.
“ I am Zeltrax, Green Ranger!” the cyborg thing angrily said after whirling to face me. I merely touched my belt buckle, and teleported to stand in front of the other Rangers.
“ All I know is that you’re ugly. Though that lady over there is a lot uglier, in my opinion. Look, I’m not that much of a fighter, I’ve gotten a lot of bumps and bruises in the past few days, and I’m tired of it. If you’ll leave me alone, I won’t humiliate you with what little bit of power I can control right now,” I boldly told the two alien generals.
“ Your insolence will be the death of you,” Zeltrax seemed to snarl – with him I couldn’t tell because of the lack of an actual face. He held his sword up and blasted at me, but I jumped out of the way.
I held my arms out in front of me, crossed my wrists, brought them closer to my chest, and pointed my palms outward.
“ Hope ya like fire!” I quipped, as fire shot from both my palms, striking both generals and knocking them to the ground, smoke coming from parts of their armor.
“ We’ll be back, Green Ranger!” the woman said as she and Zeltrax disappeared in a barely visible flash of green-white light.
“ Glad this one’s on our side,” I heard one of the Rangers mutter, and I slowly turned around.
“ Thanks for that. We were almost done for,” Black said, holding his hand out. I merely slapped the hand away.
“ Let’s just get one thing straight. I was mad at those creatures, and that’s why I attacked them. And another thing – I don’t like Rangers wearing the color of black. And ones wearing red aren’t exactly on my friends list either. Attempt to contact me, and you two will suffer,” I warned them.
“ Look, we could be a great team, if we worked together,” Yellow told me as she put her weapons away.
“ I will not work with Red and Black. And I suggest that whoever’s in those costumes watch their backs, because I will be watching every fight you enter,” I warned. Once again, I touched my belt buckle, and teleported, this time away from the group of Rangers.

green ranger does not appear to be influenced by either side. possibly she is going to be choosing her own path.
as for conner, he wouldn't be comfortable as an MMPR. poor bastard would die from powerup withdrawal :D

“ I don’t know what’s the matter with that Ranger. First whoever it was saved us, then they threatened me and Jason,” Tommy told Billy. The five Rangers had teleported back to the Command Chamber after the fight, where they’d met up with Conner, Trent, Billy and Alpha 5.
“ How’s your jaw?” Ethan asked Conner, noticing how the young man massaged the slightly bruised jaw.
“ Sore. Dude, Natasha knocked me out like I was nothing. She has serious problems,” the young man in mostly red clothing muttered, pressing an icepack to the part of his jaw that hurt the most.
“ I’d advise you to steer clear of her for awhile, Conner. And Sierra as well. They don’t seem like the type to let men run over them,” Kira advised her friend.
“ Yeah, something I think our boy Conner found out,” Ethan said with a partial grin.
“ Ethan,” Conner said in a warning tone.
“ You got taken out by a girl, when even the Tyrannodrones and Mesogog’s freaks couldn’t take you down. It’s just so – sweet!” Ethan crowed, getting warning looks from both Kira and Conner for that comment.
“ We need to focus on the important facts right now; no offense, Conner. Personally I’d like to find out what the new Green Ranger has against me and Jason. Billy, Alpha, is there any way you can get a genetic signature on this new Ranger like you did with me when I was evil?” Tommy wanted to know.
“ I only got your signature my trapping you in an energy force field. To get the signature for the new Green Ranger, we would have to do the same thing,” the little robot replied.
“ And to do that we’d have to lure whoever it is here. Since I’m pretty sure they’re acting of their own free will and aren’t under a spell, they’d be more likely to smell a trap,” Kim sensibly stated.
“ We have no choice. If we want to find out who this Ranger really, we’ll have to lure them here while they’re morphed, or battle them until they drop from exhaustion and demorph,” Jason told her.
“ I’m with Jason on this,” Ethan agreed.
“ I just hope this person doesn’t try to attack us while we’re unmorphed,” Kim mused.
“ I hope whoever they are they don’t know our identities,” Kira spoke up.
“ We need to keep our eyes peeled. Don’t let anyone know your identities, and try to keep your lives as normal as possible,” Jason warned everyone.
They agreed, and with goodbyes to each other, everyone but Billy and Alpha teleported away.

When I’d teleported away from the Rangers, I’d not really had a destination in mind, so I wound up back in my dorm room. Grateful that Kira or her friends weren’t there, I powered out of my Ranger form, wearily flopping down on my bed.
I must’ve dozed off, because when I opened my eyes again, quite a few hours had passed. I glanced at my right wrist, which is what alerted me to the time passage.
That and the fact that Kira was lying in her own bed, sound asleep under the yellow-and-gold checkered blanket and spread.
Yawning and stretching, I sat up and leaned over to take off the shoes I’d neglected to remove before falling asleep. My gaze idly wandered to my left wrist, and I sat back up in surprise.
A rather beautiful gold bracelet was there. It was about three inches wide, and went almost all the way around my wrist. On the top was a circle, and in the circle were two curious symbols, which were underlaid by a dragon-looking symbol.
