CHAPTER ONE

Gotham City – Year 2015. A team of 8 soldier-like figures stood armed with semi-automatic weapons surrounding a black and silver bat suit encased inside a glass cylinder. More soldiers walked in the path of the display as a piece of a steel wall behind the case divided. Out stepped Bruce Wayne with more armed personnel. With his cane he slowly moved in front of the display looking it up and down, seeing his own reflection in the glass. Wayne turned to his left to acknowledge one the soldiers.

“How much further will the requests from Batman be taken soldier?” Asked Wayne.

“Mr. Wayne there will be Wayne/Powers armed personnel watching over this thing 24 hours a day. No one without proper authorization will be able to even see this thing.”

“Good.”

“Mr. Wayne if you don’t mind my asking. How is it that you keep in contact with Batman?”

Bruce’s facial expression never changed. He tilted his head upward slightly and adjusted his full attention to the soldier.

“An old friend.”

New Tech City – Ten Years Later. Jack stood with his Delta Blasters in hand aimed at a multitude of Krybots. He rotated his body looking over the area, careful of any movements.

“Make sure you know what you’re doing Jack.” An Orange-Head Krybot was holding Sky in a chokehold with a sword to his neck, just inches away from his jugular vein.

“Don’t worry Sky. This’ll be over before you know.”

“I hope it’s not my life you’re talking about!”

“It looks like we have a situation here! If you want some, then bring it!”

Two Krybots moved forward and were shot down by Jack. Five more jumped on top of a car ready to strike from above. Jack avoided a strike from them by rolling out of the way. He shot towards the gas tank of the car causing it to erupt in a fury of explosions. This blast unintentionally took out more then he originally intended to. Jack cartwheeled over to more Krybot pistol whipping some of them and delivering some kicks to the head. Jack leaped in the air backward shooting Krybots left and right. Jack landed on the ground with a backward somersault. On one knee he prepared his Delta Blaster combo. Jack fired his blaster off of the Orange-Head’s right shoulder. Sky was free and returned to Jack’s side.

“Still doubting me eh?” said Jack.

“I’m just glad my head is still attached to my body. Let’s do this.”

“Right.”

Sky and Jack powered up their blasters and delivered couple of blasts to the Orange-Head, sending him back into a concrete post on the side of a building. Some chunks of cement came off from the force of impact. The Orange-Head got himself together and stood facing the Rangers. He motioned for another attack but quickly backed down not wanting to just right into battle and makes another mistake.

“Make no mistake about it Rangers. There will be a next time. I promise you this.” The Orange-Head waved his hand and was gone in a streak of orange electricity, along with the other Krybots. Jack and Sky stood there looking on.

“Power down!” The two Rangers demorphed and turned to each other.

“You know Cruger is going to rip us a new one for not calling for backup right?” Stated Sky.

“Yeah I know. And if we get cleaning duty I’m using your toothbrush.”

----------------------------------------------------------

Aboard Emperor Gruumm’s ship Gruumm sat at his throne rubbing his head with his left hand, slightly slumping in his seat. As he came to an upright position he slammed his hand on the arm of the throne. His eyes glowed with anger while letting out a yell.

“Why is it that no one is getting the job done? Do I have to go down there myself? GAAAAAHHHH!!!” roared Gruumm.

“Go down there yourself? Again? Cruger nearly ended your existence the last time you met one on one. Perhaps I could be of some assistance,” Broodwing stepped from out of the shadows towards Gruumm. “Every machine, robot, or mutant you get in your control fails miserably. I watched the whole thing. The way those Rangers beat your forces is simply disgusting. And I for one…”

“Broodwing is this going anywhere?” From behind Broodwing, Gruumm lead over his right shoulder.

“Gruumm you’ve been looking in the wrong places. You don’t have to search all across the universe. What you need to finally defeat Cruger and the Rangers is here in the United States.”

“If you fail me this time, any further business between us will cease to exist.” Gruumm hands Broodwing a large stack of money. Gruumm grabs Broodwing and holds him close. His fire red eyes glowed once again as he stared a hole through Broodwing. “I suggest you get going. You don’t have much time.”

CHAPTER TWO

A spotlight beamed down on Broodwing who was surrounded by thugs in a dark room. Broodwing sat at the end of a long table in the direction of the entrance to the room. The doors open. The beams of light from the outside caught everyone off guard when it shined in their faces. In stepped a tall man, about six foot seven. Muscular build, dark red spiked hair. Gold loop earrings in both ears, he had a patch of facial hair below his bottom lip. He was wearing a red suit with a black shirt. He approached the end of the table as Broodwing came to his feet.

“My old friend Broodwing. To what do I owe your sudden trip to Gotham?”

“Ozzie an…”

“Please, call me ‘Mercury’.” He said motioning Broodwing to take a seat before sitting down himself.

“…Mercury…an associate of mine, Gruumm is looking for a certain something to help him in his plans to rid him of some pests.”

“Who? Batman? Look I know you called for a meeting with me on business terms but if it’s Batman you want dead then my friend I’ll do it for free.”

“No…it’s Doggie Cruger and the Power Rangers of New Tech City. If Gruumm could get his hands on something from your resources then I’m sure he could defeat the Rangers, and finally I will get my big pay off.”

“No doubt that the whole thing sounds nice. I’d be more than happy to get this Gruumm character what he needs…what is the pay in all of this?”

Broodwing kept his sight on Mercury as he leaned to his left to pick up a couple of briefcases on the ground next to him. He set them on the table and opened them both towards him. “Ten-Million Earth dollars. Now what is it exactly you can do for me?”

“I must say Broodwing you never disappoint when it comes to business. Here’s what I can do: my sources have told me that downtown in the Wayne/Powers building there’s a secret containment chamber for a suit with out of this world powers. It’s down there under maximum security because it almost took out the city about ten years ago. Getting my hands on it will be no problem.”

Broodwing snatched one of the briefcases off of the tables and locked it shut as he stood up looking down at Mercury. “It’s a deal. Nothing against you but for the sake of business deal will go down as five million up front, and the other five when the suit is in my possession.”

“Fine.” The two of them walked to the side of the table and stood face to face. Mercury extended his hand to Mercury to seal the deal. Afterwards Broodwing handed Mercury two round, silver devices.

“Bombs?”

“Oh no, I’m giving you these to aide you. When activated these supply you with Krybot. Their part of Gruumm’s elite guard.”
Mercury took the devices and snapped his fingers to his men. The exited behind him as they left the room.

------------------------------------------

The night was quiet. A slight chill was in the air; the skies were slightly filled with clouds. A limousine pulled up at the front doors of Wayne/Powers. Mercury got out and buttoned his suit coat up as he walked up to the doors. Two of his bodyguards were behind him. The lights were still on as if it were still business hours. With his right hand behind his back he knocked on the glass doors. A security guard promptly opened the doors.

“Is there something I can do for you with sir?” The security guard seemed suspicious of Mercury’s motives, and he had reason.

“Sure. How about you get the fuck out of my way!” His right hand came from behind him with a gun and shot the security guard in the forehead. The security guard’s body collapsed to the ground as Mercury and his men continued on.

Mercury walked into the lobby of the building at a quite fast pace. He and his men came to a stop at the front desk. He pointed his gun to the face of the terrified woman behind the desk. Without turning his attention to her he addressed her. “OK ma’am, tell me where they keep that Bat suit.”

“I...I don’t know!” she said.

“Don’t try and be a hero lady I have a gun to your damn head now I promise not to kill you if you tell me where they keep it!”

“It’s on the top floor!”

“Thank you.” More guards approached Mercury and his men. They all pointed their firearms at the Security and opened fire, killing all of them. They continued walking but came to a stop. Mercury looked back at the woman, pointed his gun and shot her twice in the shoulder. They turned back around and proceeded to the elevator. “I never said anything about not shooting her.”

The doors of the elevator opened and the men got on, and Mercury pressed the button that would take them to the top floor. As the doors were starting to close, two more guards moved in. Mercury managed to shoot one of them in the chest just as the doors just as they came to a complete close. The ride to the top was short. When the doors opened the view was a long dark hallway with a lit path to metal double doors guarded by two armed soldier-like guards. They took aim as the men got off the elevator.

“I though some of you soldier boys would be up here. That’s why I came prepared.” Mercury took out the two devices and threw them to the ground. Within a matter of seconds a couple groups of Krybots appeared and attacked the guards with semi-automatic weapon in hand. The Krybots opened fire on the soldiers and forced the doors open. They were met with gunfire. A few Krybots in the front were taken out but the rest behind them wasted the soldiers. Mercury and his bodyguards made their way to the front of the Krybots and opened fire on some more of the soldiers. Bullets and bodies were flying in his way as Mercury walked over to the control panel of the containment cylinder. He pointed his gun at the panel and pulled the trigger. Nothing.

“Aww damn.” Mercury reloaded his gun and aimed at the panel once again. He shot at the panel until the security system deactivated. Most of the lights went out in the room as well. Above the containment cylinder was a large window that busted into little pieces and fell down onto them as a dark figure came down with it. The figure landed in front of Mercury as he turned around. The dark figure with two long pointy stalks coming out of his head punched Mercury’s lights out.

“Nice party you got going here. I’m going to assume my invitation got lost in the mail.” The figure roundhouse kicked some Krybots in the head and back flipped over to another group of them by the containment cylinder. He punched one to his left and another to his right. He rotated, and with his back to the cylinder he slid down to avoid a punch that went through the glass. He sidestepped and grabbed the Krybot by the arm and back of the neck, pulled him away from the glass and slammed it all the way through it. Turning around he saw two more running at him shooting. Their bullets bounced off of his body. He planted a hand on each of their chests and proceeded to force them backward through a window.

“It’d probably be a nice time to have a flight function wouldn’t ya think?” He turned around quickly to get back the action, but instead he caught the butt of Mercury’s gun. The dark figure with a red Bat symbol on his chest fell to the ground on top of some broken glass.

“Nighty night Batman.” Mercury rotated toward the broken cylinder and shot the rest of the glass away. “All right, lets get that suit and get out of here.”

“Boss, you want us to take care of the Bat?” asked one of the bodyguards.

“No, my fun with him is just getting started.” The Krybot snatched the Bat suit from its post and quickly exited the room with Mercury’s goons. Mercury started walking and looked back at Batman’s body lying there. “Your days are numbered.”

----------------------------------------
Jack sat on the ledge of a large window inside the Rec. room. His left arm was rested on his knee that was in an upright position. Jack stared into the dark night sky as the hover cars zoomed past the massive skyscrapers of New Tech City. He rested his head on the wall behind him letting out a sigh of discomfort. A hand rested on his shoulder.

“Got something on your mind Jack?” It was Z, with her hand on Jack’s shoulder she looked down on him with a look of concern. Not keeping her eyes off of him she took a seat beside him.

“As Rangers we have a duty to save the city from intergalactic evil, mainly Gruumm. But before we helped out in a different way. We had a personal relationship with the people on the streets. You don’t get that being a Ranger. I miss that.”

“Jack I know what you mean. But like I said before we’ve moved on to bigger and better things. Besides, if we would’ve gone on any longer with the whole ‘Robin Hood’ thing we wouldn’t be Rangers. We’d be rotting in jail with the same kinds of people we put in there everyday.” Z moved closer to Jack and looked deep into his eyes. She had both of her hands on his shoulders rubbing them. “Jack if you’ve never listened to me before then listen to me now. This is the best decision we’ve made in our lives. Why you’re having thoughts like this is beyond me. But trust me this…. this is right.”

“Thanks Z.” Jack leaned in for a hug from Z. The moment was quickly ended when Sky walked up to them. He had his hands behind his back and had a stiff look on his face.

“I hate to break up this Kodak moment but Cruger wants us in the Control Room on the double.”
