Hey guys, well I was able to finish my article on JYB for my school newspaper and it came out great. I had to fight for an extra half page because there was not enough room. Noramally we do 20 through 24 pages, but since its the last issue of the year, and we only had 3 weeks, we only did 16 this time.
Sadly I was not able to use any of the pics supplied by anyone of JYB in costume. When we did test print outs....the quality was just to low....and the ones with good quality...the picture was too big...even after hours of me messing with the article. So in retrospect, even if they were all perfect, I could not have used it. (I just hate to cut info from my stories...I would rather have had more text than a picture)
I had to have a more current picture of him because that was the theme of the article. So my original idea of having two pics side by side just did not work. I was so sad. But nonetheless I think the article turned out great.
Anyways, the article will be online by tomorrow so everyone can read it for themselves. (I am not posting it here because I like for the newspaper website to have hits. :D I know thats kind of cheating...but oh well.)
I hope you guys enjoy it. But really you dont know what I went through to get the space....and sports was really not happy about what happened to it.......because well there was no sports section this issue......

Way to shove the jock-oriented aside. So what, the school year's over, who needs sports? You need John Bosch.

Also if anyone is interested I have a star wars article and a George Lucas article as well. Plus there are a lot of cool articles spread throughout the site. If you have a few free minutes check them out, some are really good.

Nice job with the article, but my high school newspaper sucked, we only had 3 issues a year, and the "jocks" only got like 1/2 a page and some of the teams did actually deserve more (wrestling, girls track and field, boys soccer, and swimming). Instead most of the articles were about star athletes who's teams sucked(now hmm i wonder why the kids look so good????) Its like they give a 2 paragraph for an actually good sport and the whole page for the crappy sport with a good athlete.
But basically the paper was like underground music (which I don't give a shit about) and really crappy movies that the kid thought were the best movies ever. Although some of the articles were funny/good like how one of the newspaper staff members called another school principle who the night before vandalized our school and football field at 7:55 that morning. And got a quote from the principle.

My school paper has 10 issues (Sept through May plus special senior issue in May), and we cover all sorts of stuff. I'm the go-to guy for geek stuff on the staff. I'e done articles on stuff like the iPod, anime, the PSP, and DDR.

My paper puts out 8 issues a year. And we have come really far in just the last couple years.
Each issue used to be 4 to 8 pages.....with crappy everything. Now most are 20 pages (we did a couple 24 page issue this years) and 16 if they are the first and last issue.
Also when we were judged, our judge said we have excellent coverage. We favor no one group....so one month bible club has bad press...the next good. Thats is our biggest plus, we have something for everyone....but a lot of credit goes to our sponsor, she has helped us so much with everything. She really has become like a second mother to us.
We are very proud of what the Vibe has become. We are all just really sorry to have to leave this year....graduation can suck....
So any feedback on the JYB article?

Shouldn't this be in the advertisement sections cause you're trying to gain hits for your website?

No....that is only a secondary reason for the posting of the article. The main reason is I want to share with everyone. :D

It's not just his site. It's his school paper's site. He gains nothing.

Damn your school must love their students to let them have a newspaper online. Hell we couldn't cheer at basketball games let alone put our news paper online.

Haha, Nice man. I'm now gonna to call my friend, and tease her about her beloved Collin Ferrel abilities on not being able to drive. Although, In places like L.A. and N.Y. you really don't have to.

The thing is we pay for it ourselves.
See we are not funded at all by our school. The first few years the principal would pay for the first few issue to help us out, but now we pay for everything through advertising in the paper.
And the website is great. The membership fee is not that much, so we just pay for it ourselves from advertising funds. My favorite part about the site is the national adition.
The owners of the site. every week, pic the best written articles, and place them in the national section. So its kind of like a cut and paste newspaper, consisting of papers from all over the country.
My entertainment section had had articles make it every singe issue...sometimes like last issue, only my entertainment section made it. (And I must say, that every time I did a game review, it made it...unlike some of my fellow staff members. :D)
Anyways, this site is super easy to use, and is not that expensive. Im the web manager, so I can say this with certanty.
Also, the web site is just a way to further share our newspaper. If your school is not allowing you to have a newspaper...well major law suit is all I can say. The only problem is that you guys would need a teacher for the class and students who want to be in it.
Email me if you have any further questions, vause my advisor and myself would be happy to help a newspaper get started or get online.
It's not just his site. It's his school paper's site. He gains nothing.
The advertisement sections isn't just for people making money off their sites, it's too advertise their websites, and I'd say that's what this thread is pretty much.
I know it's been sitting here in General Discussion for quite some time already though, but I just think that it belongs in the advertisements forum.

I guess your right, thanks for moving it. But did you like the article?
I really enjoyed the whole website to be honest with you, I think that the picture you used for the article ended up being better than anything you would have found with him in costume.
It's better that you found a picture of him in front of the mic, because it brings the article into the present, kudos!
