This is my first Power Rangers fanfic. It happens in England, and it isn't great- I accept that. But please read it all through and post comments. This is Part 1 of the opening- I'm working on Part 2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 2004
It was a calm, peaceful day. The sun was shining, the wind was calm. It seemed like nothing could go wrong. Unless, of course, you were Tobias Jackson. If you were, then your life was like some nightmarish horror movie to the power of infinity.
Tobias gulped. Looking outside, he could see several monkey-like robots outside. They were attacking things- not that there was much to attack so far out of town. Time for action, he thought, and ran upstairs. I hope that dad’s research was right, or else I’m dead. He opened the box. It had five circles on the lid, but four of them were greyed out, so you couldn’t see the colours. All of a sudden, green light flashed, and a mysterious device appeared on Tobias’ arm. Instinctively, he pressed in the code 4-7-3-3-6. He was bathed in green light, and a suit appeared on him. It was green, with a black visor -shaped like a rectangle, but in place of the bottom edge, the visor went down in a triangle shape, with the end cut off- and there was a silver X on his chest with a blade’s silhouette in the centre. He was surprised beyond belief- he was a POWER RANGER?!? He knew that the light in the box had special powers, but THIS? Oh well- no time to think about it- just gotta go beat up the bad guys!
“Hey you guys!” he shouted to the robots, “Look over here! It’s a Power Ranger!” The machines all looked at him, and charged forward. “Hya! Ha!” Tobias leaped into a roundhouse kick, and then began punching the robots in their faces. “Woo-hoo!” he shouted. I didn’t know I could do this… he thought. “Ha! Ha! HIIIYA!” More kicks, more punches. “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!” Beneath his helmet, Tobias smiled. “This is so cool! The power inside… it just… Well, looks like I have a new hobby! Power down!” He didn’t know exactly what to say to get out of the suit, but ‘Power down’ just came to him instinctively… “Wonder when I’m gonna have to fight again…”
March 2005:
Tobias was exhausted. “I really have to take a break more often…” he was lying on the grass in the park, looking at the clouds. He was still the Green Ranger. He didn’t know who exactly the enemy was, but all they sent at him was those grunts, and they were too easy. That didn’t stop it being hard work though. Of course, there was the perk of it being good exercise, and he’d learned martial arts because of it, but still, what he wouldn’t give for more days like this. He yawned, and then- “Oh heck, pleasepleaseplease, don’t let it be what I think it is!” He got up, and looked around. He saw exactly what he thought he’d see. “Just great- of all the days they could choose to send out a full-fledged monster, it HAD to be today…” He checked no-one would see him, and flicked up the panel on his Soulauncher -the device that allowed him to become the Green Ranger- and pressed in a code on the keypad. “4-7-3-3-6! Soulshift Online!”

Tobias’ green suit covered his body, and as the X symbol with the silhouette of an hourglass in the centre, materialised onto his body, his helmet, with a visor shaped like a rectangle, but in place of the bottom edge, the visor went down in a triangle shape, with the end cut off flew onto his head. “Green Ranger- Soul of Power!”
</morphing sequence>
He jump-kicked the monster from behind, surprising it. “Take this!” He kicked it in its arrow-shaped head. “Ranger! Nice to meet you!” The monster’s body was covered in thorns and he- or was it a she, Tobias couldn’t really tell- had long, sharp claws. “I hope you’re going to enjoy your death!” The monster charged forward, and started to claw at the Green Ranger. “Yow! That hurt…” Tobias jumped into the air, and landed behind the monster. “I see your mind is the one part of your body that isn’t sharp,” he joked. The monster charged again, but this time Tobias couldn’t jump high enough. “Ah!” He fell to the ground. The spike monster came up to him, and stepped on him. “Aaah!” screamed Tobias. The pain was too much…
Meanwhile, Joseph Stack - A teenager, with spiked brown hair and hazel eyes, dressed in a red T-shirt and blue jeans- and Steve Caravalho - Another teenage boy, wearing a yellow T-shirt and black trousers, with green eyes and short black hair- were in the park, waiting for two of their friends to show up. Suddenly, they heard a scream. Looking around, they saw a Green Power Ranger being beaten up by a monster. “A GREEN Ranger?” muttered Joseph. “Judging from the teams in America, he should be Red…”
“Yeah, and white or pink should be yellow- just go with the flow, buddy! Ready?” asked Steve.
“As ever!” replied Joseph. Soulaunchers appeared on their wrists, and they keyed in codes.
“2-5-2--2-5!”
“2-5-8-3!”
“SOULSHIFT ONLINE!”
<Morphing sequence>
Joseph’s black suit covered his body, and as the X symbol, with the silhouette of an hourglass in the centre, materialised onto his body, his helmet, with a visor also shaped like an hourglass flew onto his head. “Black Ranger- Soul of Protection!”
Steve’s blue suit covered his body, and as the X symbol, with the silhouette of an eye in the centre, materialised onto his body, his helmet, with a visor shaped like an arch flew onto his head. “Blue Ranger- Soul of Peace!”
</morphing sequence>
The Black and Blue Rangers ran over to the fight. “Hey ugly! Over here!”
The monster turned around. “More Rangers? Great! More fun!” He charged towards them, but they just ran out of the way. “Green! Attack him now!” Tobias, in awe at the other Rangers, nodded and ran forward. At the same time, Joseph and Steve ran forward and attacked at the exact same second as Tobias. The monster screamed, and fell down, exploding upon landing. Wow, thought Tobias. Teamwork really IS effective….
The three walked over to behind a wall where they couldn’t be seen. “Now,” said Joseph, “Power down.” As he and Steve did Tobias’ hidden jaw dropped. “Woah! Power down!” He de-morphed, and the black and blue Spirit Rangers were just as amazed. “You?” they all said simultaneously. “I can’t believe it!” exclaimed Tobias, “I don’t exactly know you guys, but I can’t believe YOU’RE Power Rangers!” The three were all in the same classes at school. “Hey, we feel the same about you. Now come with us, the other two Rangers should be here soon. We were just gonna go around town, but this is much more important.”
Zandra Vale and Fabia Kabel were waiting for their friends by a tree. Zandra had blue eyes, long blonde hair and wore a blue t-shirt and skirt. Fabia wore a white long-sleeved t-shirt, and black jeans. “When are they gonna get here?” moaned Fabia. Then, she saw the boys running over to them. “There they are!” When the boys reached them, the girls realised that there was a third person with them. “Um, no offence,” said Zandra, “But why is Toby-“
“Tobias,” muttered Tobias.
-right, Tobias- with you?”
“Simple. He’s important. Watch,” said Steve. Tobias turned to the girls, and his Soulauncher appeared on his wrist. “He’s the Green Ranger!”
