i was talking to a few authors on aim, and they mentioned sometimes, it seems like some people post feedback without actually reading the story, or they post feedback after just skimming a story.
who actualy reads the fics they post replies to? has anyone replied without actually reading the fic, or just skimming it?

I do most of the time. If the first three paragraphs are unreadable, I'll usually just skim after that, but I can usually get engaged in a fic.

I read the fics.
I read more than I comment on, though.
I read, but usually just post something like 'awesome chapter'.

I read the fics that I post in, always. I think that is just stupid to post a comment on something if you haven't read it.

I always read the fics I comment on. I don't always comment on fics I read though.

I most certainly read the fics I post for. I wouldn't risk telling anybody their shit is good when, unbeknownst to me, it actually is shit. Why would the people that post without reading even bother posting? I can understand the reading and not posting (DON'T MAKE IT A HABIT THOUGH), but not the other way around.

I post very little feedback because I always want to have something more useful to say than "awesome chapter". Though, of course, I know that as an author, I'd settle for "awesome chapter" posts :-).
But God knows I've seen a few responses to people telling them how awesome their fic is where I've wondered if we were reading the same story (I'm so *not* naming names. But it is a sad fact of life that many more people feel the desire to write than are actually any good at it.)

From time to time I will, if there's feedback I wanna give but already been said then I just don't say anything.

I always read the fics I comment on. I don't always comment on fics I read though.

I don't normally post feedback unless I read it twice. I'm anal like that.

Always. Then I'll go back and pick one or two points I liked. That's part of the reason I always try to comment on something relatively specific (a character name or action or something), so that I can show I read it. I know it generally makes authors feel a bit better to know that the compliment they deserve looks like it's actually based in something they're sure they did write. =)

i feel obligated to respond to any fic i read..precisely because it gives the author feedback on how good/or how to improve his/her story.

If I'm going to take time to read the fic, I'll take the time to respond. Depeding on how I can get involved in the fic and the author's skill, I usually read the entire thing.

Aye! I read the fic's latest chapter/episode AND I post feedback on it or the entire series.
But I don't seem to get a lot of feedback on PRMF Season 1....hopefully season 2 will get more feedback since it's going to be an explosive season.

Same here. Although I don't really get feedback on my own works except at Clash, where it's after every episode. Really, folks, I've got some great stuff coming your way - including three more original works.
No, I just post saying "U R 73H G00dnz37 ri73r of 411!!!!1111111"
