View Full Version : American vs. Japanese morphers.
Arsenal

We all know that Bandai of America tends to stiff the americans with the morphers. (The SPD morpher is the perfect example). But I'm curious about the morphers from the other shows. Can someone explain to me what Bandai has done to the morphers from the other PR series? (I mean, what did they eliminate from the toys when they imported them.) Or, if anyone has a website which compares them, you could give me the link. Pics. are not neccesay, but I leave it up to your discretion. Thanks.
Edit for the asshole below this post: I just got into sentai recently, the SPD morpher is the ONLY MORPHER where I have seen the differences. I know nothing about the morphers for the other shows. I you don't want to help me fine, just shut up about it and don't come into the topic.

Looks like Mikoto Nakadai was the first asshole :)
The MMPR morpher:
In the US version you don't get the buckler.
And there's no stickers on the back.
I recently scored a Japanese morpher from YJ! and just noticed that the coins are really different in color. The Japanese ones are much more brass looking as opposed to gold US version.
I'm only a MMPR fan so can't go into any of the others.
Hope it helps Arsenal.

The US didn't get the buckler but it did get the gun with the morpher. The Japs had to buy the gun seperatly. It's more of a trade off than getting stiffed... but I would have rather had the buckler.
Arsenal, it's usually little stuff that's different like normal paint instead of metallic paint or the stickers are different or we get plastic writs bands isntead of cloth. I don't think they started changing the molds until Time Force. The Quantum Morpher didn't have the same electronic stuff. The Wind and Thunder morphers from Ninja storm are bigger. Then there's the DinoThunder morphers. No locking jaw, Drago morpher didn't have the pull thing, Brachio had a plastic key. The best morphers are from Zeo, Turbo, and Space... those are just like the Jap ones.

The ZEO,TURBO (minus stickers) PRIS,and Lost Galaxy were the only morphers left in tact.
The others were all modified and butcherd The worst are Ninja Storm and Dino Thunders.

What'd they change on the chrono morpher? I've never seen a Jap one.

i don't think the chrono morpher was changed... looks the same..
another thing about the hurricanger's changers and ninjastorm morphers ws that the disks had glittery sticker and a plastic dome over them... its a lot nicer, plus you get a nylon strap with a white H symbol

the japanese Chrono Morpher (Chrono Changer) had a little LED game we didnt get. the rest is just basic US crap like no chrome and cheaper plastic, etc.
the Quantum Morpher was made for the US. the Japanese only got the morpher that came with the Q-Rex (V-Rex) that controlled it.
WF Morphers- japanese got interchangeable animal heads, the the wings on the inside be able to open up into wing and fins and had the animal head come out like an antenna. plus probably better lights, sounds, stickers, etc.
as for the Lunar Caller, we obvioulsly didnt get the wrist strap the japanese got. plus same as before, lights, etc.
the Thunder Morpher was drastically changed in size but that was for battery reasons as far as i know. i dont think the Gourai Changer took AAA batteries.
the Samurai Morpher got screwed the most that year. the japanese version was an actual ball that didnt open up and had a motor to spin the disc inside. it was very nicely done compared to the Samurai Morpher where you had to open it and press the button to make it go. and in the case of my samurai morpher, the part in the middle wore out easy because of changing out the discs.
as for Zeo, Turbo, In Space and LG, the only changes were paint instead of chrome on most of them (as far as i know).
LR morpher's changes were size thanks to the batteries (like the Thunder Morpher). also, they had better light up effects for the inside window. they were actually animated. probably had better sounds too.
and of course, all the DT and SPD morphers are complete shit compared to the Sentai versions. there's plenty of threads about those two seasons already.
