SPD Rangers Revealed!
In a recent press release by Disney, the names of the SPD
Power Rangers has been revealed! The Rangers are five
teenagers from a Ranger Academy who are choosen to
become Power Rangers after A Squad was captured (most
likely by their enemy Gruumm. Each Ranger has a different
power (think of Power Rangers merging with X-MEN). One
ranger has the power to multiply (Z Delgado, SPD Yellow
Ranger) while one is able to turn her fists into iron (Sydney
Drew, SPD Pink Ranger). The other rangers are able to
pass through objects (Jack Landors, SPD Red Ranger),
track down evil using psychic powers (Bridge Carson, SPD
Green Ranger), and to create force fields (Sky Tate, SPD
Blue Ranger). This year’s cast has been confirmed to have
the talents of Brandon McLaren as Jack Landors, Chris
Violette as Sky Tate, Matt Austin as Bridge Carson, Monica
May as Elizabeth Delgado, Alycia Purrott as Sydney Drew,
and John Tui as Chief Anubis Cruger. Power Rangers SPD will
debut on ABCFamily on Febuary 5 and on ToonDisney on
Febuary 7, times and episode titles will be released at
a later time.

First Power Picks, now BOPR.
We were all sad to see the Best of Power Rangers to go
from the ABCFamily schedule starting on 9/11/04. But we
were soon given something even more great (or so we
thought). The ability to choose what classic Power Rangers
episodes were to air every Sunday from 11 am to 12pm.
But we soon found out that the Power Picks blessign would
soon become a very big pain. Some of us were mad that
Ninja Storm won sometimes, some of us disagreed on
which episodes should air, and some of us were tortured
when fans wouldn’t vote for episodes that hasn’t been
shown since the year that it aired. But This month, we were
given a nice little present from Mickey, the return of Best of
Power Rangers (which takes the place of Power Rangers
Power Picks). Now Disney has surprised us even more!
They are going to air some more old episodes under the
name Power Rangers Generations. And not only on
ABCFamily but also on ToonDisney! YAY for people who
get one but not the other. Power Rangers Generations will
begin on January 16 on ABCFamily and two days later on
ToonDisney.
Two New Dino Thunder
DVDS!

Earlier this month two new Dino Thunder DVDs were
released. They are by some standards your basic run of
the mill Power Rangers DVD. However there are some
things that has never been included on any Power Rangers
DVD or VHS before Volumes 4 and 5, what is it? Two
featurettes that feature skit between Kira and Ethan that
helps reveal next year’s rangers: Power Rangers SPD.
And they have a featurette featuring Jason David Frank at
one of his Rising Sun karate schools. Buy these DVDs if
you’re a collector, if you want boxed sets (to send a good
message to Disney), or for the little ranger in your family.

Now that your ‘Power Rangers’ days are over,
what have you been up to
lately?

i have stumbled into voice overs, did a couple movies
(one currently with Karan Ashley) and i have a band
now. I'm also currently working on an action series
called "Bugged Out" it's a comedy series and will be
posted on the eyeshine site sometime next summer.

Do you have a preference in being either a
Musician, or an Actor?

no, i enjoy both.

Now that you have your own band going on, care
to give those who haven’t listened to the Eyeshine
music what they’re missing out on?

well, we are an alternative rock band and our first CD
is scheduled to be completed mid January, hopefully
it will be on sale shortly after that. the CD is
obviously professionally done and is night and day
from our garage recordings on the site. if you can't
find it anywhere check our site from time to time.

As a musician, are there any bands or other
musicians that inspire you?

Oasis, Beatles, Something like Silas, U2...just about
anything even if it stinks. Cuz that proves we can
make it.

What is it like doing voice work for Anime shows?
very different from live action. except for dubbing
helmet head stuff on power rangers. japanimation is
much more emotional and more complex compared to
many other animated shows. which makes it a lot of
fun to do.

Are there any Anime projects you are working on
currently?

Yes, a bunch but i can't talk about them yet.

As an actor, do you have a certain role that you’ve
liked interpreting the most during your career?
there is a role that i am hoping to be shooting next
year. it's an action flick and it's a chance for me to
show off what i can do both as a martial artist and an
actor. as soon as things start going under way i'll talk
more about it.

Does martial arts still play any role in your life
today?

absolutely, ever since studying Shaolin Kung Fu, i
have been constantly training. martial arts is never
perfected, it's something to build upon again and
again.

What inspired you to become an actor?

i wanted to be an action star like Bruce Lee or Jackie
Chan. the actor part just went with the territory. not
until a few years after power rangers did i focus more
on my acting.

How did you find your way to become and actor
on ‘Mighty Morphin’ Power
Rangers’?

My instructor Master James Clark showed me an
artical in the newspaper about auditions for being a
power ranger. he said that i could do it and i believed
him. he was right.

What was it like working with actors, Ranger or
not, while on set?

it's fun, it's a chance to escape reality and almost make
something out of
nothing.

Any stories you’d like to tell?

uh, nah.

As we all know, you were in two Power Ranger
movies. How different
was it working on a movie set compared to being
on a television show set?

we were treated better on the movies than the show,
but work was still
work and most of us enjoyed them both.

Do you still keep in contact with any former cast
members of ‘Power
Rangers’?

just Karan Ashley

Out of the many different Ranger casts you’ve
worked with, are there
any that stand out in your mind? Perhaps a cast
you feel particularly
close to?

Jason Frank and I used to be close almost like
brothers, but somehow we both went on to do other
things.

Do you have a particular favorite season of Power
Rangers? If so,
care to tell us why?

i enjoyed Turbo, only because i was getting more
lines and more fights.

Have you watched any of the latest seasons? If so,
do you have any
opinions about them?

i haven't watched it, in fact i didn't really watch too
much of the seasons i was in.

A lot of fans enjoyed Adam’s evolution from the
shy, modest Black
Ranger of the Mighty Morphin’ Era, to the more
leadership role you took
in Power Rangers Turbo and your guest role in
Space. How was it being in
Adam Park’s shoes for close to four years?

he's the only character i'd want to play, i don't know
he kind of a parallel to my own life at the time.

If you had your own say in the Power Rangers
world, what would you
say Adam Park is doing now, after his days as
being a Ranger?

He has secretly been fighting underground fights to
make some extra money to get medicine for his dying
mother...

Jason David Frank recently returned to do work
with Power Rangers.
He returned in 2002 to do a 10th Anniversary
reunion with the Red Rangers
of each series. He later returned in the latest
Power Ranger season, Dino
Thunder as a regular cast member. Have you seen
any of the recent
episodes? What’s your reaction of Jason
returning?

i was surprised at first that he went back but it was a
different company. i haven't seen any of the episodes
though.

Also returning with Jason David Frank, Doug
Sloan an Ann Austen
returned last year as Producers for ‘Power:
Rangers Ninja Storm’. ‘Dino
Thunder’ was their final season working on Power
Rangers. Do you have any
comments or opinions on these two phenomenal
individuals?

they were fun to work with but at the time they were
more like teachers to me.

Many were surprised by and definitely enjoyed
your return for ‘Always a Chance’ in Power
Rangers in Space. Now, hypothetically, if you
were offered another role of in Power Rangers
whether it is for one
episode or one season, would you be interested in
reprising your role as
Adam Park?

nope

Well thank you for taking your time to answering
the questions in
this interview. Any final words you’d like to say to
the fandom? I’m a frog.
Expect my own interviews with Jessica Rey and Jason
Faunt sometime in the new year.

Next Issue due in January
and/or Febuary.

Expect the next issue by Jan
and/or Feb. Until then, be safe and

this is completely the wrong place to post it. it needs to be done at your own sites and just post a link to it here.

I am invovled with the project, however I had no part in putting together this issue. I only commited to get invovled with the next issue. Rk asked me if I wanted to be added to the news list and I agreed. Everything in the Issue was 100 percent his work. I gave him barely any imput.

I agree with you guys this isn't the place to post this. RK wanted to post this at some message boards. Realizing he would probably be flamed for doing so I suggested doing it in the ad sections of the said boards or asking the admins first. I think he sould have held off and found a better way to destribute the newsletter (with a better layout). But I suppose I should have spoke up about this when he told me his intentions.

He doesn't have a bad idea, he just needs to be more patient with it and find a better way to destribute it. I should shoulder some of the blame as well since I agreed to have my name on this.
