At CoastBase that morning, everything looks like usual. Everyone is doing their work, and did not care over what happened outside.
However, a flashy modified Peugeot 206 enters the parking area, and has caught so many eyes in amazement. As it takes the park, they are more amazed to find out that Nick is the driver, when he steps out from it. As he enters the lobby area, Andy quickly approaches him to find out the truth.
“Is that your car, Nick?” he asks.
“Yes, what’s wrong with that?” Nick admitted.
“How did you get so much money to buy it?”
“I use my bonuses to make the initial payment, and then I settle the rest via monthly instalment,” he explains.
“Cool, but why Peugeot not Evo VII?” Andy asks.
“I prefer European cars than Japanese.”
Then the duo enters operation room and there, they meet the rest of Neutron Squad. Of course, they keep talking about the new car. Plus, the day is very calm without any major problems for the Neutrons. In short, they have relaxing time on the day.
On the other hand, Mark and Adam have a busy time at Port Voyage as both of them are in final stage of the development of battle car for Ace Ranger V2. After the car has been finished, they seem delighted with the outcome; Ace Speedster which according to the latter as “the most explosive gizmo I’ve ever built.”
“Now you’re on par with the Neutrons,” he added. “Now we only need to fine-tune this baby to make it better.”
“Don’t be so sure,” Mark reminded. “We don’t know its limit yet.”
“Yeah, but we will know it very soon.”
In the night at Surfers Hill, things also look usual for the Neutrons. But not in the late night, when Nick sneaks into the garage to get his car and thunders himself out of the manor to get to the town centre for an important event.
The event is actually a gathering for modified car owners to display their machine, as well as competing in drag racing. Nick parked his car at the middle of the line, allowing him to have more attention and almost sure, beautiful girls around.
Later on the drag racing is to be held and before the race take place, a man will take bets among the contestants. Nick of course, gambled a huge sum of his money to gain attention. But above all, he wants respect as he has won a race a couple of nights before but still everyone underestimates him.
“If I won, I want the money, and respect from all of you,” he declares, as he puts his money in the hand of the collector.
Afterwards, the cars moved to the location, and Nick as well as other three racers lined up on the sprayed starting line. As others making their preparation, he activates his electronically controlled nitro as well as changing engine mapping system to suit the race condition. Then his mind focused on the track, with his right foot ready on the gas pedal.
When the grid girl waves up, all racers accelerate their car, and there are among them who already engaged nitro as early as in the third gear to stay ahead. But Nick prefers to wait until last minute, and waits until the top gear before blasting his own. This proved successful, as he managed to overtake the leader just seconds to the finish line.
“YES!!!” he happily screams out of the car in the way to the starting point, and collected his money with a huge grin on his face. Of course with such cash, many girls start to get closer to him to get some of it.
“RUN, THE COPS ARE COMING!” screams a guy who guards the radio, and suddenly everyone gets into their cars and run away. Nick also in the run, and he managed to dribble among the police car that get into his way. He thinks that the problem ends there.
Not really, when another patrolling police car recognised his car, and chased him throughout the streets. This time he is not lucky, as his engine blown up in a dark street and he can do nothing. Armed with sticks, two cops step out and instruct him to get out of his car. He knows there are no use he runs, let alone fighting them.
Meanwhile, at a highway outside Star City, an oil tanker is making its way out from the city. Suddenly, a lot of dusts flew besides the driver, and it formed a monster named Oiler soon. The shocked driver almost lost control of the truck, and it did not take along time for him to be thrown out of the cockpit. The monster, which looks like a gas pump, immediately drives to an unknown destination in the dark night.
At the Star City Police HQ, a policewoman is taking Nick’s fingerprints, and there are some regrets from his face. His concern increases when Captain Bates as well as other Neutrons arrived at the place to release him, with Captain himself being a guarantor.
“Are you thinking straight that time?” asks Edward angrily, as Captain Bates fills a couple of forms on a counter not far from them. But rather than screaming, he asks with a slow voice.
“You’ve interrupt my sleep for two hours,” Sarah grumbles, and Nick left speechless.
“I never thought it would turn out this way,” Nick confessed, but he knows there are more things waiting for him later.
Next day at CoastBase, Captain Bates called all Neutron Squad to his office, with Nick stands right in front of his table while the others, standing behind him in a line. The Blue Ranger knows some punishment is waiting for him.
“Do you know that your act breaks ECO’s code of conduct?!” Captain Bates asks Nick angrily. “I don’t mind if you are a pilot here, but you are a member of Neutron Squad, a team which is directly under my command. Your manner cannot be tolerated as it will bring bad example to other teams and departments and it also bringing a bad name to me.”
“But according to the book of rules, I didn’t do anything wrong,” Nick tries to defend himself. “Racing is not stated there!”
“Illegal racing breaks the public’s law, and breaking that law also breaking ECO’s too,” Captain blasts him back. The others can only hear the argument as they cannot interfere at all. “Give me your badge, your gun, and… your Diamond Flasher.”
“What?” Nick almost cannot believe over what he just heard from Captain. Edward, Andy, Sarah, and Alexis are also in the same reaction.
“You’re suspended from duty,” Captain makes himself clear. “Now, give me the stuff.”
Nick reluctantly puts his ECO badge, duty gun, and Diamond Flasher on the table, and they can only watch each other in disbelief. Afterwards, he runs out from the room with almost cannot hold his tears. Alexis tries to chase him but Edward holds her shoulder, and says “no” to her slowly. Shortly, Captain Bates walks towards them with a tedious face.
“I hope this will be a lesson for all of you,” he reminds them. “I didn’t want to do this at first place, but I have to do it. I hope you can understand my true intention.”
Afterwards, Alexis founds Nick watches IsleBase from the waterfront area of CoastBase, and she feels sympathy for him since last night. So she pushed herself to console his friend.
“Are you alright, Nick?” she asks from behind.
“You know what… I still remember the first day we fly from IsleBase to take on the first monster.” He recalls back the past memories. “Now, I might not have that chance at all.”
“Captain has reasons to do that, maybe we can see the effect later,” she explains.
“But he suspended me, is that fair?” he questioned the motives. “I always give my best, I’m the most daredevil among us, yet he didn’t recognise that. Just because that little mistake, he grounded me.”
“If we had it our way, we want to be suspended too,” Alexis reveals “but we believe him. Trust me, he has reason and soon, you will be on duty again.”
Meanwhile at Port Voyage, Adam is sitting on the couch while reading today’s newspaper. An article about a couple of tankers has been mysteriously lost recently makes him curious. As he felt that this has anything to do with F.O.D, he quickly goes to balcony upstairs to see Mark.
As he reaches there, he found that the 19-year old are kicking a ball to the wall a couple of times.
“I think we got a case here,” Adam says as he waves up the newspaper.
“What is it?” asks Mark.
“A couple of days ago, several tankers are missing without a trace. We need to investigate this,” he explains.
Then at highway where all the tankers lost, Mark drives his Peugeot 307 CC along the route to find any clue to their quest. After a while, he stops at the roadside and steps out from the car he drove. As he looks around, there are no useable guides he can found.
“I found nothing Adam,” he says via the communicator inside the car to his mentor at Port Voyage.
“Impossible, there should be traces somewhere,” surprised Adam.
“I’m sure this has nothing to do with F.O.D. This is totally… hey,” Mark says as he found something on the road.
“What is it, Mark?” asks Adam curiously.
“I don’t know… it looks like a kind of dusts or something,” Mark responded after looking closely at his fingers before taking a smell of it. “Oil,”
“Oil?” wonders Adam. “Oil dusts?”
”Smells like oil, but very rough,” he feels with his fingers “and shines too.”
“Take a bit of them as sample,” Adam instructs. “I will analyse it at the basement when you came back.”
At the lab later, Adam takes out a bit of the sample out of the plastic bag and places it under the microscope. The finer details were displayed on the screen, and he did realise that there are something about the particles.
“Indeed it was oil, but it has been mixed with other substances,” Adam indicates.
“What kind of substances?” Mark asks.
“No idea, but we need to pay close attention to any attack involve tankers now,” he answers.
Not so long later in CoastBase, the Neutrons were called into action when a tanker has being attacked by Oiler. However, they seem reluctant to go as they realise that Nick will not join them.
“I know you want Nick, but now he’s being suspended and you need to carry on without him,” Captain Bates told. “Now, go!”
Without wasting any time, they go on the high-speed pursuit with the tanker with their X-ARM motorbikes, and the driver has been thrown out of the seat by the monster. Oiler seems furious with their presence when it spotted them from the side mirror.
“Don’t think that you can catch me,” the monster warns angrily.
“Listen team, don’t you ever release a shot,” Edward reminds his teammates. “Otherwise, it can be fatal.”
However, they were unlucky because shortly afterwards, the monster splashed out some oil on the road, causing them to skid off and fall from their bikes respectively. Not only was that, all bikes caught in fire almost immediately.
“Man, we cannot get close to him!” Edward smashes the ground. “Sir, we need Nick now, he’s our only hope,”
“Captain, are you listening?” asks Sarah via the communication line. Captain knows he is now in a crossroad between his ego and public duty. But he seems calm while hearing those pleas.
Nick meanwhile, returned home to Surfers Hill and went straight to the kitchen to see his Uncle Jeffrey and having a lunch.
“You’ve been grounded, right?” Jeffrey asks while wiping the plate with a piece of white napkin.
“‘Grounded’ is a bit childish, ‘suspended’ is better,” Nick tries to joke with his uncle.
“I have far less problems keeping this house clean than I had to deal with you,” the old man hinted.
“Come on, I’m not that rebel,” Nick tries to deny it.
“Yes you are, but it also shows that you’re very confident with yourself,” explains Jeffrey. “You never lost your confidence, and from the confidence come the braveness.”
“But he suspended me from all tasks, and taken my Flasher,” grumbles Nick. “Why he can’t see those abilities?”
“Actually, you can have your Flasher back,” the old man says.
“What do you mean?” Nick seems surprised, and Jeffrey takes out a box from the cabinet.
“Just after you’re suspended, Master Terry has packed all these things and teleport it back here,” Jeffrey says as he opens it. “He knows you will find me if you have any problem, so now he’s giving you a chance to amends for you mistake.”
Nick slowly takes out his Diamond Flasher but he is not sure whether he can repay the faith that Captain gives. But as the kitchen TV shows an exclusive footage of his friends struggled with their bikes in fire, he knows the perfect chance has come. He firmly holds his morpher and knows what to do afterwards.
Soon, he is back and begins to chase the runaway tanker on a blistering speed. As he passes by his friends, they got nothing but hope for him, knowing that they got a ray of light.
“Way to go Nick!” Alexis screams as he flashes past them.
Shortly, he found himself on the trail of Oiler and trying his best to get past the bulky vehicle. But the monster is clever enough to move from one side to another side to block his route. After a long chase, the monster had him enough and spills out some oil on the road. Consequently, Nick suffered the same fate as his teammates as he falls down from his bike.
“Man, he’s too tricky,” slams Nick after he falls down and his bike was caught in fire.
But there is a hope yet, as suddenly the untransformed Mark bursts into the scene driving his car past the Edward, Andy, Sarah, and Alexis. They are so surprised to see Mark in the vehicle.
“Is that Mark?” wonders Sarah.
“What’s he doing with the car? And he is unmorphed,” says Edward.
Just after he passes through them, he knows he needs to act now.
“Let’s see what this machine can do,” Mark says to himself, and he quickly opens the driving console in front of him and pushes a button. Shortly, the Peugeot car transforms; the roof was unfolded from the boot, and a spoiler also emerged at the rear.
At the same time, the front and rear bumper were transformed, as well as the side skirts. The colour also changed from black to dark blue/ silver, with the Ace logo appears on the bonnet. Front and rear light also changed into a flashy look to complete the outside transformation.
In the cockpit meanwhile, the driving console also changed from analogue display to digital ones, and several screen unfolded. Another lever appears besides the gear stick as well as a couple of buttons in front of it. Mark took that chance to transform into Ace Ranger V2, and now his car has transformed completely into Ace Speedster.
At the same time, Nick felt completely devastated by his failure, but before he can give up any hope, he suddenly watches a car came into his way, and it was Mark. His elder quickly stops right beside him.
“Get in, we don’t have any much time left,” Mark told, and he quickly get into the passenger seat before they start their pursuit.
Nick seems impressed with the car from the inside. He watches around, and wonders how Mark can get such a gadget because as far as he knows, his brother did not have any luxury, let alone a little money.
But he cannot think any longer because within a minute, the tanker was in their sight. Mark begins to calculate the best strategy and assess all options available.
“Listen Nick,” Mark told his younger brother “I will position this car in front of the tanker, and when we managed to do that, we will be ejected out of this car.”
“Ejected?” Nick seems surprised.
However to put the car in front is tricky enough, since Oiler did notice their presence and did not want to give a room.
“They just never learned to give up,” says the angry monster, and it quickly spills out some oil again. Fortunately, Mark’s controlling skill was good enough to avoid every single of it.
After so much haggling with the uncompromising foe, they finally managed to put themselves in front. Now it is their turn to give the monster a lesson. For this purpose, Mark has set Ace Speedster into the autopilot mode before ejecting out.
“Get ready,” he says, and instantly, he and Nick got ejected upward and they landed right on the top of the roof. Oiler realise this and tried to get rid of them by moving the tanker from side to side but it did not bear fruit. Ace Speedster meanwhile, quickly skids itself to the roadside to paving the way for the tanker to go before following from behind.
However, the truck is about pass by a bridge, where the maximum height is just enough for the tanker to get through. Nick suddenly realise this when he and Mark is about to stand up.
“Oh no, take a look there!” he screams “we’ll be wiped away after this.”
And he is right because in a flash, the tanker managed to get through but Mark did not managed to do the same as he hit the bridge side and falls down to the ground treacherously. Nick on the other side, fortunately managed to hold on.
“Mark!!!” he screams after watching his elder being brushed away on the road, but he still needs to stop Oiler. So the encouraged himself to move forward.
“Mark, at the end of this road there is an unfinished bridge,” he says via the communication line. “You need to stop the tanker at whatever costs.”
“I got it,” he acknowledged, and Ace Speedster quickly stops besides him at the roadside. After jumping into the cockpit, he quickly accelerates his car to chase the tanker and thus, saves his brother.
Nick on the other hand, begins to move forward and after a hard crawl, he gets to the cockpit and sends a powerful left hand punch as soon as Oiler is in his sight.
“You creep!” screams the monster when it gets the rude awakening, and it immediately elbowed Nick back. He almost slipped to the road, but thankfully his right arm managed to grab the rescue bar to stay on. At the same time, the tanker begins to lost control due to the fight.
Realise it cannot hold any longer, Oiler steers the tanker to an unknown route and locks the steering with a locker. Just after it managed to lock the wheel, it jumps out, much to the surprise of Nick and the tracing Mark.
“What happened?” Nick wonders as he watches the monster jumps out, and without wasting any time, he swings himself into the cockpit only to know that he is unable to unlock the wheel. But that’s not the worst yet.
“Mark, the current road leads to an unfinished bridge,” informs Adam from Port Voyage. “You need to stop the tanker; otherwise it’s fatal for your brother.”
Nick himself is also noticed about the danger when the tanker rammed the signboard that blocks the road. He knows that he needs to stop the truck but there are some problems instead of the locked steering wheel.
“Man, it breaks the gear knob!” shocked Nick, as he founds the gear lever has broken into two. “What should I do?”
He takes a shrewd move by turned off the engine, but for sure the momentum of the tanker is too big for it to stop itself. Now it is up to Mark to completely halt the pursuit.
Without wasting any time, he quickly pushes a button to asses the road map. After analysing it, he pushes some other buttons to set-up double harpoons at the front side of the car. After locking the target using the directional key under his left thumb on the steering, he shoots those harpoons via another key under his right thumb. Those weapons hit the rear side of the tanker and Mark begins to lock the wheels of Ace Speedster to stop the tanker by hitting hard on brake pedals as well as slamming the hand brake.
Despite the halt begins, the calculation shown by computer system of Ace Speedster shown that the force applied was not enough to stop the tanker completely. With they are running out of time, Mark decided to shift the car into reverse gear in order to gain more pulling power even though there are some risks of tyres blow out in the process. But this is a risk that worth taking.
He instantly makes the move by shifting into reverse gear, and hits the gas pedal on a full strength. Slowly and surely, the tanker begins to slow down much faster but the four tyres of Ace Speedster begin to burn out. Mark insisted to pull harder but when the diagnostic system warns of potential tyre blow, he came into crossroads whether to keep pulling or relying on braking power to stop the slide.
Nick also becomes panic when he sees the unfinished bank of the bridge, and hopes that something miracle will happen even though the skid is getting slower by time.
Eventually, Mark slams the brake and holds the steering wheel strongly. The siblings now only rely on luck to be on their side. And dramatically, the tanker stops at the edge of the bank, much to the relief of them. Afterwards, Mark gets out of his Ace Speedster and gets to Nick as the latter steps out from the tanker slowly.
“Are you alright?” Mark asks.
“Wow… what a…” Nick replied.
“That’s great, let’s go home,” he says, and both of them walked to Ace Speedster to return home.
Meanwhile, Oiler quickly runs to the opposite direction that it comes from, but the monster is very unlucky to see the rest of Neutron Squad in the run.
“Where do you think you’re going?” asks Edward.
“You’re going nowhere from now!” warns Andy, and they quickly uses Neon Buster to send a powerful blast toward the beast. Oiler was easily destroyed afterwards and four of them are delighted with the outcome of the day.
But of course, they had to walk back to CoastBase and it will be a long day for them. While walking in unmorphed condition, suddenly Ace Speedster stops in front of them, and they are so surprised to see Nick and Mark stepped out of it, also unmorphed as well.
“Nick, thank God you’re alive,” Alexis says as she hugs him in delight.
“What happened to the tanker?” Sarah asks later.
“It’s a long story,” he replied.
After watching Neutron Squad reunited, Mark turns back and gets into Ace Speedster. But before he stepped in, Nick thanked him for giving a helping hand. He only remains quiet all the way.
For sure, it was a day well done, and they are returning home for a well deserved rest.
NEXT: Black Widow
Sneak Peak: A strange case has happen when some men were found dead in several hotel rooms, widely believed because of heart attack while doing intercourse. However, autopsy shows different result. Meanwhile, Alexis thinks that it is time to express her feeling towards Nick but was cut short by the presence of third person.
However, a flashy modified Peugeot 206 enters the parking area, and has caught so many eyes in amazement. As it takes the park, they are more amazed to find out that Nick is the driver, when he steps out from it. As he enters the lobby area, Andy quickly approaches him to find out the truth.
