I'm thinking of doing something called the Ranger Wars which involves all the Ranger Teams in battle against an unknown evil.
Rather than just somehow regaining their power I'm thinking of having Alex assemble them all using TimeForce and a climactic Zord battle somewhere. Let me know if I'm commiting a heinous act of plagiarism

I don't think it's plaigarism if it's not intentional.

does anybody know where the Rangerbase went? It was a pretty damned good site with loads of info on it, and has just disappeared.
In its absence, I REALLY could use a list of pretty much anybody who's ever been a ranger and what manner of weaponry they all packed, because I'm worried that I might miss something

I think if you're dubious about all the names and weapons of the Power Rangers you might not want to embark on a project as ambitious as this. Have you ever tried to write a scene with ten people in a room? It gets tricky giving everyone something to do and say. Now imagine a scene with fifty-some Rangers. Not even fighting, just talking. Imagine how big the room would be. Imagine how long the descriptions would be.
Now imagine a fight, even assuming a correlation of three footsoldiers to one Ranger. Imagine the choreography you need to have in your head. Yes, a master storyteller could do this story (Marv Wolfman managed it with Crisis), but Wolfman was a master at the height of his game. Crisis 4.5, written twelve years later by Wolfman, was nowhere near as delicately woven.
Maybe five people have ever managed a story that had over ten Rangers as leads. Ever. Even though we were talking novella to novel length projects, and in some cases ongoing series which spanned years. Those people knew the characters inside and out. I don't know that I want to read about Damon by someone who only knows about Damon from what he read on the Writers Guide, you know?
This isn't meant to discourage you, but maybe you should scale down your story to something manageable? Pick a handful of Rangers you liked across multiple incarnations, leads you're comfortable writing.

I guess you're right, the other option is that I know what I want, and if anybody wanna help write the more episodic, single ranger team moments I could link them together, the idea I've got is along these lines...
Arcanus has arisen, and he intends to assemble the mightest army of evil and take the whole universe as his own, but whatever he can't have he destroys. It's down to all the ranger teams to try and stop this threat and retake the universe for the forces of good, but can Timeforce bring them all together, and how will they avoid bringing past rangers into contact with their future counterparts...

Funny, Splush had a similar idea...only I and others are trying to make sure he does'nt use a Gary Stu character, you see, Gary Stus give no reason for the readers to become emotionally attached to them, no matter how well written they are, they simply do not work, never will, because only the Author knows how they talk, they think, they act, the reader has never seen your Gary Stu character on telivision, they don't know what to make of him, and therfore simply look at him as this pathetic poser
Assembling the "greatest army ever" would be a tough call, he'd have to look at what's left of the hive of scum and villany who backed out of the invasion of Earth in "Countdown to Destruction", and let's face it, some monsters are'nt idiots, there experianced with invasion attempts, and won't just follow this new guy on a whim knowing that the Power Rangers will somehow stop them, that's another reason many fanfics fail, these characters blindly follow someone they have NEVER heard of, and you expect the reader to take that seriously?
The villains in "In Space" were'nt just following Dark Spectre for one season, such an army had been building for years, the Machine Empire breifly tore away from it to attack Earth in a fit of sheer arrogrance, alliances take time to build.
Oh, and before you use the "Intimidation" defense, meaning your new villain will do something spectaculer to scare the shit out of monsters to follow his cause...that is by far the worst crime of any P.R fanfic, by making this completly new character more powerful than Dark Spectre, you do a classic P.R villian a severe injustice.
Forever Red left a lot of good storyline ideas lying on the table, such as the aborted story about Dark Spectre's ressurection, if ANY villanous army had a cause to try and create the "greatest army ever", what better than to ressurect the one being that succeded? Spectre was the Poll Pot of Power Rangers

Thanks for the advice, chaps.
it would prove tricky to top Dark Spectre, maybe it should be a resurrected DS or just trying to round up a few post PRiS villains.
Also, I was going to try and insert previous rangers into other teams. What I was looking at was
MMPR: Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, Kimberly
PRZ: Tommy, Rocky, Adam, Tanya, Kat
PRT: TJ, Carlos, Justin, Cassie, Ashley
PRiS: Andros, Karone, Aisha and two guys from somewhere, so as not to have multiple characters, maybe Ryan Steele from VR Troopers and Alex as a Space Ranger so Wes can be red Timeforce Ranger, or just using Zhane and having a 4-ranger team
OR, having the Space Ranger lineup and assembling a new team of Turbo Rangers, but from other Ranger teams, ie Aisha wants to help, and Karone may want to help as well, and with a grown-up Justin
and the other core teams from the following seasons but without Tommy as Black Dino Thunder, maybe the 6th Rangers and the Tommy clone with Green Ranger powers could be the last line of defence, or a strike force/disraction
Alternatively I could just go back to my "rock-band" idea and do a Power Rangers: Metal Fury pilot...

With a mary sue villian, it's not just "tricky" it's bloody IMPOSSIBLE.

Ok, now you're not even staying true to the original team line-ups, in a sense, you're using familar characters and pairing them together with other Rangers that they have NEVER met before and cannot identify themselves with in the course of just a few chapters, you're creating a mary sue team.
What the hell does Aisha have to do with anything? She changed the course of her family's history in choosing to remain in Africa, she fucked up her own history, she might not even recognise the Rangers.
Justin, Karone, and Ashely would all have reasons to jump to action should you use the Dark Spectre sub-plot, as they had a hand in the sixth season in one way or another, Aisha has no connections to what is currently going on.

the reason is that they need every ranger team, but a la Back to the Future they don't want any Rangers to run into their future counterparts so they need to Jerry-rig a team.
Also, are you implying that faced with Tommy, Rocky, Adam or any of the Rangers she was on a team with and told of the danger she wouldn't offer any kind of assistance?

I'm implying that you're ripping off a plot device that was only used in one film series as an excuse in creating a blatantly mismatched set of P.R teams, stick to the source material or not at all
Edit: Nevermind about the second part, I hav'nt seen "The Lure of Auric" in months :eusa_wall

Yes, but think of the consequences here. Tanya grew up in Africa, then moved to Angel Grove. She has memories of living in Africa and is a newbie to America. She has one set of memories. The Rangers recall growing up in America, they remember Aisha and why she left. They are aware that Tanya did mysteriously appear overnight. Once again 1 set of memories.
Now we have Aisha. She grew up in Angel Grove with her family and became a Ranger. However she and her family also moved to Africa to help out with a mysterious plague. She remembers her time as a Ranger as well as having some memories of life in Africa. That gives her 2 sets of memories.
Why do I say that she has two sets of memories when Tanya has 1? Simple. Tanya was a spontaneous move of one person one location. She could just as easily have teleported when time was restored. In Aisha's case her entire family had between the period where the Zeo Quest took place and normal present decided to move to Kenya. Aisha would have had to have had some memory of those events to allow her to fit in properly with her family.
That could prove quite an interesting trait if used.

Ray took shut down Rangerbase due to lack of time to work on it. A similar site has been set up. It doesn't have any of the pr information rangerbase had at one time but works as a pic archive like rangerbase did.Micheal B. owns the site.
