Okay, I know... another Zodiac fanfic. There's been quite a few great ones here, I must say! I've been working on this particular idea and story since 2000, in between concert tours, recording albums, etc. Of course, as time passes, ideas and themes change, as do characters. However, I've done my best to be completely original and not rip off the creativity of other writers here on the RB and elsewhere. The themes range from G-rated stories to PG-13 material, so bear with me.
The idea of it might seem similar to Sailor Moon or Gransazer, in that there are a larger group of heroes that any of us are accustomed to, and there's not always a lot of camaraderie between team members... but there's a reason for the size of this group, and a backstory, coming from two other fics that I wrote prior to its creation: Cyberstars, Series One and Two (original costumes and mecha), and Sky Force Cyberstars (inspired by Jetman).
Series One and Two gives the heroes the power of five (and later, a sixth) Elemental Stars while Sky Force gives them the power of five bird-themed Energies. Their transformation grants them cybernetic armored suits and helmets as well as amazing weapons and the ability to pilot vehicle, animal, and later, bird-themed mecha. Zodiac Force starts five years after the end of Sky Force...
2000:
The evil Prince Nefarius, nemesis of the Sky Force Cyberstars, has captured the heiress to the throne of Estreia and grand-daughter to the Cyberstars' mentor, an elderly magician known as Polycron. Celestia is the only one who can unlock the power of twelve ancient gem-encrusted medallions bearing the symbols of the Zodiac, and Nefarius plans to use this force to cause eternal darkness throughout the galaxy by absorbing the energy of the stars and transforming it into a massive weapon of destruction. The twelve medals are held within a prison orb aboard the evil Prince's battleship, along with Celestia.
However, before she was captured, the Princess managed to send a distress signal to her grandfather and the five Sky Force Cyberstars, who immediately rush into action in their bird-like RoboJets to save their friend following a harrowing battle on Earth against Nefarius's powerful field general, Knightonyx, who destroys their BlueBattler Robo but is severely weakened by an attack from the Super SkyRobo (the SkyRobo being formed by the Red Hawk, Black Condor, Yellow Owl, Blue Swallow, and the White Swan and the automated Gold Thunderbird creating the "Super" prefix).
Polycron succeeds in thwarting the Prince's space armada and boarding the Necronian Starskull, the Prince's own command ship, rescuing his granddaugther, Celestia. However, the reunion is short-lived. Upon his infiltration of the battleship, he is attacked by a wounded KnightOnyx, so he bids Celestia a tearful goodbye with his last breath and sends her in a one-person escape pod back to Earth.
Meanwhile, after a lengthy battle, the Cyberstars find themselves with the decision to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to save humanity from Nefarius. Princess Celestia intervenes, and although the resulting explosion strips the Sky Force of their powers, they are saved but have been rendered without their memories as Cyberstars... with the assistance of their families, coworkers, and other friends (who had no idea of their adventure), they resume normal lives, while Celestia, now trapped on Earth with no way to return to her home planet of Estreia, lives under the guise of a human, searching for the twelve Zodiac medallions.
FOUR YEARS LATER...
Dimensia, an evil female agent of a dark force known as the Marauders, has been dispatched to Earth to search for the twelve fabled medallions of the Zodiac, which had been rumored to crash to the planet in the form of falling stars after an explosion released them into space. The Marauders' mission - to continue the quest started by Prince Nefarius...
Celestia realizes the impending danger and quickly steps up her efforts to retreive the medallions before Dimensia and her henchmen do. Unbeknownst to her, however, the medallions are a lot closer to home than she realizes - now in the possession of twelve young adults, one of whom is a former Sky Force Cyberstar!
