View Full Version : Toys N Joys Copies My Triassic Shield
Linear Ranger

I was browsing though Toys N Joys Dino Thunder selection this morning, just for the heck of it. Then I came to their Dino Thunder Weapons page, and boy was I surprised by what I saw. They have the Triassic Shield listed, but the shock came from the fact that they are using one of the pictures that I have in my Toy Review of the Triassic Shield. Not only that, but their description for the shield is taken directly from my review of the toy.
Here’s Toys N Joys site with the Triassic Shield (http://www.toysnjoys.com/dinothunder4.html)
Now here’s my Toy Reviews Page. (http://www.stormloader.com/linearranger/dttoyreviews.htm) Scroll down till you see Triassic Shield.
Should I take this as a compliment?

You have to get a lawyer on your side for these things. One you can trust, or at least blackmail without consequence. :) Seriously though, look how different the material they stole is from all the other item descriptions and tell me they were hoping to get away with it. I mean sweet Jesus, they keep the bit mentioning the normal Zord Callers and forget to steal that pic as well?

If I was in your shoe, I'll make them give me all the zords I'm short of or charge them for plagiarism. :D

E-Mail them about it and demand compensation for it. Either that or threaten to sue. Either way you get money. Toys N Joys is the scum of the Japanese import scene, so pull no punches.

This is actually a case of copyright infringement...and is a truly serious crime. All content posted on the web is automatically the property of he who posted it...regardless of what is posted as far as Copyright information.
Not only that, but if they're stealing your pic and description...you can challange that they don't even have the item.

in fact, since they copied your discription, it doesnt even make sense. it talks about the "normal colored zord callers above" when there are no pics of them on that page. get a lawyer and collect some cash you lucky person.

Well, just to see what they come back and tell me, I’ve e-mailed them informing them that they stole my picture and information. I’ve asked if they would compensate me in any way for the content that was taken. I don’t expect much of anything, if anything at all, but it should be fun to see what they write back, if they do.

Yes it does matter. Not only is it a bad buisness practice, but it's false advertising, not to mention illegal in this country.

They didnt just take a picture. THEY TOOK THE SUMMARY AS WELL.
Red Isis' webpage has pictures and reviews of alot of DT Toys. Toys n Joys didnt just take a picture from his webpage. They took a picture and took his entire Review for the shield and posted it as their own on the Toys n Joys website. They didnt credit Red Isis. They didnt ask Red Isis. They took it. That's called plagiarism. I dont think the situation would be so bad if they just took a picture from his website. (especially since its just a picture of a toy) but they also stole Red isis' own review and made it as their own.
It DOES matter.

Toys N Joys is pure scum and I'm not surprised that they ripped you off. I was recently ripped off by them when I ordered Killer Oh. I ordered Killer Oh from them in August and they made me pay $12 extra to get a "tracking number" that they never even e-mailed me. I had to pay about $100 for Killer Oh altogether and I NEVER EVEN GOT IT. It's been two months now and I still haven't seen any signs of Killer Oh. I sent their customer service two e-mails within the past two months but they never even replied. I eventually had to e-mail the Better Business Bureau and file an on-line complaint. I'm hoping that they can get Toys N Joys to give me a refund but I don't have much faith in the BBB because I filed my complaint about two weeks ago and they said "we'll have the Hawaii branch of the BBB look into your complaint." It (like I previously stated) has been about two weeks now and I still haven't heard anything back from the Bureau so I guess I'm just kind of screwed when it comes to that $100. Let this be a cautionary tale to anyone that wants to shop at Toys N Joys. Check eBay or other stores because TNJ could rip you off if they were willing to rip me off. Check Big Bad Toystore before you go to TNJ because they're actually nice and theyre honest. I had to eventually go there to get my Killer Oh when I realized that the fuck-heads at TNJ were just going to be assholes about the whole thing.

Ah, Toys N Joys.
I just found out that, to pick up a properly painted Dimetrodon DT zord, I'd need to shell out $80 (!) -- and going by what everybody's been saying, there's a pretty good chance they'd lose my order entirely.
And after what happened to Red Isis, I don't think I'd ever do business with them anyway.

I' don't know , so far I have had good business with TNJ, of course after they send me my email of my order with their phone number after 2 weeks I call them to make sure they have my order and they tell me they are getting it right now and about a week later I get a confirmation email say ing the item is shipped. I don't go for getting high priced items from them thou, i'd rather go with BBB for that.

Why does everybody hate TNJ so much? They have always had good service and speedy delivery for me, I agree that the prices are high but hey its a buisness and they need to make money since they are the third person. If they got stuff directly from BJ then yeah they need to lower their prices but hey if they have to buy it from a bulk japanese retailer then their prices are going to be higher. I would only recomend using them for items from past seasons as they are the only ones in stock but they still give giid service (In my experiences, I cant talk for everyone) But about them stealing your pic and description thats just not right. Give a brother some credit for his or her work at least I mean Damn that was big mistake.

Man... TNJ... It'd be a great store if they didn't just flat out suck.
I ordered a Faiz Driver from them in mid-august. I didn't recieve it till Mid-September, and ONLY after I started calling them asking about it repeatedly.
Go get'em Red Isis!

It's too bad that good experiances & deals w/ TNJ are few and far between. While I'm sure they are nice enough people when you're physically in their store, their online side of their buisness just flat sucks. I'd rather get sucker-punched in the nuts than deal w/ TNJ again.

Isis if you dont hear back from them by the end of the week and they still have your picture and summary on that website you should call a lawyer. This dispute may SEEM petty but trust me.. if you let them get away with this, who knows what they may try next. It may be far worse. Dont let this go. If they dont do anything by the end of the week I say call up your lawyer (or parents lawyer, etc) and send them a final email with a distinct warning. "remove or hear from my lawyer."

Don't give up on the BBB just yet. I am very familiar with their workings, & know it should take about a month for you to receive a response by mail. The BBB will work with you on the matter, trust me. unfortunately, the entire process of working with the BBB, them woriking with the seller, & coming to a resolution can average about 5 months, as the cases I'm more familiar with have.
My next piece of advice is to stay firm, but try to stay friendly at the same time. Never faulter in your stance though, because nobody will give you anything if they feel like you won't do anything about it if they don't.

ive orderd from them twice both times it took them 2 months to get me my item. i orderd the dx gao lion from them in april of 2002 i got it in july 2002.
then a year later i orderd a rock man model kit from them. in april. i got it in july. they suck i have tryed to tell people here before that they suck but no one at the time listend to me. they have great toys sure but they suck when it comes to selling.
I've come up with my own thoughts on them.i think they post pics saying they have said item and then when some one orders it they order it so it takes them that much longer just to get it into the store then they have to send it out. but thats what i think.

ToysNJoys sucks. It just does. There are much better places to order stuff from. I made the mistake of ordering a Digimon D-Ark a couple of years ago, and I had to wait forever to get it. But see they sent me a second one for no reason and made me pay for it too. 100 bucks down the drain for 2 Digivices. I had to get a relative in Hawaii to go pay them a visit, which didn't do much good. :o Trust me on this one, don't order from them.
