Bio: Daniel was born on Devil’s Night, October thirtieth, the night before Halloween. He was ignored by his parents, and sadly has very few friends. The close group of friends he did have was shattered when one of them died in a car accident, and two more moved away from Reefside. Daniel was left alone with Jason Park, and they became best friends. One day, Daniel decided that the abuse from the school bullies needed to stop, so he took up martial arts as a hobby and a way to defend himself. After awhile, he became very good in Judo. This young man is like any other, in that he loves checking out the girls, and likes trying to impress them. Daniel was also late for his first day of senior year, so he, too, got detention with Dr. O. When he got to the dino excavation site, he headed off to help some people work on digging up a Brachiosaurus skeleton. He was just dusting off the side of the skull – he’d been assigned the head and the neck for the time being – when suddenly a bunch of ugly creatures attacked. Daniel made all six other workers leave as he put his judo and martial arts skills to good use. When it became apparent that he’d need more than just the judo and martial arts skills, he started using his super-speed and telekinetic skills to his advantage. He’d just jumped out of the pit when a black aura surrounded him, suddenly turning him into the Black Dragon Power Shaman!

Bio: My twin sister and I were born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; we were born with the abilities we even now possess. A few months ago, my mother announced that she was moving us cross-country to the town of Reefside, California. I was excited about the move, for I’d finally get to have my own bedroom and bathroom, and a new motorcycle to boot. Mother moved us because she accepted the job as a part-time bio-genetecist teacher at Reefside High School. In addition, she would also be the principal of the school. My twin was furious about the move, but she gradually got over it after we’d moved. On the first day of school, though, I was tardy to my first-period class because I forgot where the class was, and I got detention with the paleontology teacher, Dr. O. Of course detention would be that I had to go work with him at his dino dig site, just outside of town. We went there in his jeep. I had to put on a dusty pair of red overalls, a pair of plastic gloves, and a dust mask as I entered the first pit with him. We were just helping the other workers uncover the side of a Tyrannosaurus’ skull when some kind of weird creatures began attacking. I stood in the corner of the pit as Tommy leapt out and helped evacuate everybody before trying to fight them himself. When one of the weird-looking creatures tried to attack me, I held my arms up in defense, and the Red Shaman Morpher appeared, allowing me to morph into the Red Dragon Power Shaman.

Name: Anastasia Felicia Casteel
RD: Yellow Dragon Power Shaman
Age: 18
Hair: Ear-length, brown, slightly curly
Height: 5’ 10”
Eyes: Brown
Skin: Tanned
Weight: 130 lbs.
Parent: Diana Casteel. Dad’s dead.

Weapons: Shaman Staff, Shaman Daggers
Powers: Stealth Hunter, Can hack into any electronic system on Earth, Control all things metal, X-ray vision
Suit: Yellow version of Green Dragon from MMPR. Mouth-visor is flat and yellow. Shield is silver, as is everything else that was gold on the original.
Zord: Yellow Dragon
Morpher: Yellow Shaman Morpher

Morphing Call: Hold morpher up, press center, and shout: “ Yellow Dragon Power Shaman!”
Summon Zord: “ Light over night! Yellow Dragon Might!”
Shift to Dragon-form: “ Yellow Dragon Roar!”

Staff: In sheath on back.
Daggers: In sheaths on hips.
Morpher: Kept on her at all times. Also used as communicator. Looks like a pentagram, with Yellow Dragon head in center.

Bio: Anastasia and I were born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; we were born with the abilities we even now possess. A few months ago, my mother announced that she was moving us cross-country to the town of Reefside, California. I was excited about the move, for I’d finally get to have my own bedroom and bathroom – as would Anastasia – but she was angry that she was being forced to move against her will, but she gradually got over it. Especially when she met and started dating Jason Park. On the first day of school, she was on time to her class – we both had Dr. O. first period – but she neglected to remind me of where it was. At the end of the school day, she went to hang out with some of her new senior friends. She was out helping someone at the dino dig site one day when a group of evil aliens attacked again. She began to defend herself, using her powers while not in site of the workers. When she was tossed into an empty pit, her body impacted with one of the walls, and her body was instantly engulfed in a yellow light. The Yellow Shaman Morpher floated up in front of her, morphing her into the Yellow Dragon Power Shaman.

Name: Cato Sylvar Egidius
RD: Blue
Age: 16
Hair: Brown
Height: 5’ 11”
Eyes: Hazel
Skin: Paler than most
Weight: 195 lbs. (muscular)

Weapons: Shaman Staff, Shaman Warrior Lance
Powers: Shape-shifting, Weakness Detection
Suit: Blue version of Green Dragon from MMPR. Mouth-visor is flat and blue. Shield is silver, as is everything that was gold on the original.
Zord: Blue Dragon
Morpher: Blue Shaman Morpher

Morphing Call: Hold morpher up, press center, and shout: “ Blue Dragon Power Shaman!”
Summon Zord: “ Light over night! Blue Dragon Might!”
Shift to Dragon-form: “ Blue Dragon Roar!”

Staff: In sheath on back.
Lance: In sheath on left hip.
Morpher: Kept on him at all times. Also used as communicator. Looks like a pentagram, with Blue Dragon head in center.

Bio: Cato Sylvar Egidius, whose name means “ All-Knowing Forest Goat”, is a lot like his name. He spends much of his free time near or in forests and streams, studying nature, and associating himself with the local wildlife. His two best friends are a crafty otter and a clever skunk. And although he hasn’t learned their language, he always seems to know what they are trying to tell him. ( Woe be to the many who have been sprayed by the skunk for harassing Cato). Cato is usually seen with either a white t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and hiking boots; or with no shirt at all, blue swimming trunks, and barefoot. He is slightly slender, like his animal friends, but fleet of foot, if need be. At present, Cato can change himself into an otter, a skunk, a satyr, and of course back to his normal human form. He is capable of learning more forms, providing he can see something like it, to study for at least a day, for animals; two days, for mythic creatures. In school, he is often teased and called “ Skunk-Boy” or “ Stinky”, though he is actually a better student than most others his age. Cato’s parents are U.S. Secret Service agents, yet both are M.I.A. Because of his often living alone, Cato mainly stays with his animal friends, instead of with people. He and his two animal friends were traveling across the dino dig site one day when he spotted something embedded in one of the rocks on the ground. He bent to dig it out, and a bunch of the head villain’s minions attacked. At once, Cato transformed himself into the Blue Dragon Power Shaman!

this is my character's profile. as each ep goes on and a new Dragon Power Shaman appears, i will add their profiles.

Myrtle Beach; three months ago (May, 2005)

“ Monica! Anastasia! Grab your purses and let’s go! Our flight’s leaving in an hour! Our things are already on the plane!” mom called down the hall.

My twin stuck her tongue out at me. “ I can’t believe you actually want to move. Why are you in such a hurry to leave everything we know, everything we love?” she questioned me as she tossed her cell phone into her purse.

I shrugged as I grabbed my own purse and we rushed downstairs.

“ I want to experience new things, Anastasia. I’m tired of seeing the same old beach all the time."

" I want to have my own room, my own bathroom. Plus, ma said I could finally get that motorcycle I’ve always wanted,” I replied as we locked the front door behind us and hopped into my mom’s station wagon.

“ Yeah, well, I think it sucks. I have to leave the few friends I actually made junior year, and starting senior year in a new school, in a new state, on a new coast sucks triple time,” Anastasia griped, slumping down in the back seat as I turned the radio on.

I flipped it to a rock-and-roll station, listening to the lyrics of “ Freak You Out” pounding through the speakers and the car’s sound system.

“ Say, that reminds me. Reefside is the hometown of Kira Ford, the one who sings this song,” I told my twin as I bobbed my head to the music. In the mirror, I saw her perk up a bit.

“ Really? Cool. Maybe we’ll get to meet her,” Anastasia mused as she mentally went over a list of possible things to say to someone like Kira.

I, meanwhile, just leaned back in my seat, listening to the music, thinking about what my future would be like in an entire new town, wishing my dad hadn’t died before I was born.

* * * * *

I put my cell phone, pager, hairbrush, perfume, and lipstick into my purse.

“ Come on, Monica! We’ll be late for school!” Anastasia called out to me from downstairs. It’d been three months since we’d moved to Reefside.

Ma had bought a small, two-story house. It included an attic, and a basement – which kinda made it three stories – and each corner of the house had turrets on the roof.

I’d converted the attic into my very own room, and I loved it there.

Anastasia’s bedroom and her stuff were on a portion of the second floor, and mom’s lab took up the rest of the second floor and the entire basement.

“ Coming out the first turret!” I called back, opening the turret window.

I made sure my trampoline was on the ground below as I put my backpack over my shoulders, my purse on my right arm; then I jumped.

I hit the trampoline in a sitting position, but when I bounced into the air, I leapt over the side, easily landing on my feet beside it.

Anastasia rushed out the front door nearby, and we hopped into the canary-yellow, blood red striped convertible that we jointly owned.

I tossed my backpack into the back seat as we peeled out of there.

I made sure all my electronics were off before we parked in the student parking lot at Reefside High.

Anastasia grabbed her own backpack, then bolted for the entrance.

“ Yeesh, leave me alone why don’t ya?” I mumbled as I slowly picked up the light bag and walked towards the main entrance.

The backpack was only light because I’d not yet gotten my schoolbooks; that’d happen whenever I got to each of my classes.

I glanced quickly at my schedule as the first warning bell rang.

I’d totally spaced on where Dr. Oliver’s science class was, so I had to stop by mom’s office – she was the principal as well as the part-time bio-geneticist teacher – and get directions on where to go.

The second warning bell rang as I was dashing down the final hallway.

I stopped outside the doorway to catch my breath, shoving my wild bangs away from my face as I took a deep breath and opened the door.

As it turns out, I wasn’t the only late one; a guy in blue jeans, white sneakers, and a tight black muscle shirt came right up behind me.

The teacher glanced up from the roll-call sheet he’d been checking.

“ Ms. Monica Casteel, Mr. Thompson, you both have ten points taken off of your class grades for the week,” he said.

I groaned outwardly as I took my seat, while the young man took the seat beside me.

“ Dr. O. can be a bit strict on the first day,” he whispered to me.

“ Make that detention for the next two days,” Dr. Oliver announced, making me groan even louder.

Today was Friday, August the fourteenth, meaning I’d have detention today and tomorrow – on a Saturday!

I mumbled something incoherent as the Thompson boy – who was introduced as Daniel – got up to pass out the books.

This was paleontology, which I rather liked studying about. I noticed the little emblem in the top corner of my book, so I asked the teacher about it.

“ It’s there for the Power Rangers that saved this town last year. And now, onto today’s lesson. We will be covering the basics of paleontology, which include……”

I tuned his voice out as I quickly read over the first few pages of my book. I loved reading new, interesting books, and this school one was definitely interesting.

I glanced up when a shadow fell over my desk.

I gulped down a knot in my throat as I looked up at Dr. Oliver’s stern expression. “ Ms. Casteel, it would be good if you paid attention. I do not want to have to go to your mother on the first day of school,” he said to me.

“ I’m sorry, Dr. Oliver. I just got to absorbed in the book,” I explained, pointing at the book. He gave me a half-smile.

“ Well then, perhaps you wouldn’t mind giving me a two-page report on the first chapter. Due Monday morning,” he added as the end-of-class bell rang.

I nodded my head as I packed my book into the backpack, tossed my purse
back over my arm, and hurried from the room.

Daniel caught up with me; I’d read his mind rather quickly, seeing that he didn’t have very many friends.

“ I think we both have Ancient History next. I got a glimpse of your schedule when you sat down,” he said. I smiled and nodded.

“ Yeah,” I said as I shifted my purse around to stuff my schedule inside it.
“ I also saw the rest of your classes. It’s kinda weird, they match my schedule exactly,” he said with a half-grin.

I felt that I owed him a small conversation, so we talked all the way to the next class.

Once again, we sat side by side in the front row, and in the ver center.

This time we were a little early, so I had time to prepare my notebook to start taking the notes I saw already written on the board for this class period.

A woman came into the room, setting her attaché` case on her desk as she sat down; just then the bell rang.

“ I am Ms. Pennyfeather, your ancient history teacher. I know that you all as seniors think you own the school, and you’re partially right."

" But I would like for you to go ahead and copy the notes down that you see on the board in front of you. Ms. Casteel? I’d liked for you to pass out the history books,” she announced as she held out a pair of keys.

I got up and took them from her, going over to the supply closet on the right side of the room. I unlocked the door.

I saw that the books came in boxes – and there were five thin books for each student – so I took each box around the room, distributing the books quicker than the teacher thought I would.

This is actually a pretty good story, but for some reason... Tommy Oliver in your world... seems like a prick... maybe all teachers are like that? ;)

After I sat back down, I glanced over all my books, delighted to see that one of them was on Ancient Egypt and Ancient America.

“ All right, you should already have your notes copied by now. We shall have an oral group pop quiz today. Select a person from the classroom and pair up with them,” Ms. Pennyfeather told us.

I scooted my desk over to Daniel’s. “ Us detention buddies should stick together,” he quipped with a wry smile as Ms. Pennyfeather started tossing out questions.

I had a smile on my face for the rest of the day.

As I’d completed my required science and math classes in ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade, I didn’t have to worry about them this year.

When the day was finally over, I put my books in my locker – the ones I didn’t have homework in – then tossed my ponytail over my shoulder and waltzed out to the teacher parking lot.

Dr. Oliver was already waiting on me, so I tossed my backpack into the back of the jeep and climbed into the passenger seat.

“ It is good that you showed up, Ms. Casteel. I told your mother that you volunteered to help out at the site, so as not to get you into trouble with her,” he said as he put the vehicle in gear and started to drive off.

The jeep abruptly stopped when Daniel came running up, hopping into the back seat, a big smile on his face.

“ The group’s here, Dr. Oliver,” he quipped as he glanced at me, giving me a quick wink.

“ Yes. I had thought you weren’t coming, Mr. Thompson,” Dr. Oliver said as the jeep started moving forward again.

“ Had to have somewhere fun to go. Besides, it’s not like my parents care one iota where I go,” he added, the smile disappearing totally from his face.

I wondered about this as we drove along, wondering why Daniel’s parents wouldn’t care about such a great guy like him.

I had to put the question out of my mind as we pulled into the excavation site.

Daniel hopped out and disappeared into one of the pits closest to where we’d parked.

Dr. Oliver led me over to one of the pits furthest away from his jeep.

Before I climbed down into it, he handed me a pair of red overalls – though they were shorts, not the long ones – and made me put on a dust mask and a pair of rubber gloves.

I grumbled angrily as I lithely jumped down into the pit, wishing I’d dressed better for the occasion.

One of the other women workers – a Mexican woman of about thirty, with short black hair and brown eyes – grinned at me as I kneeled down beside her.

“ Olah, amiga. I think you’re just angry at your teacher because you like him,” she simply stated as she handed me a fine-bristled dusting brush.

I would’ve sworn again in Spanish had the Mexican woman not been there.

For of course she’d understood what I said, which made me immediately regret.

“ Forgive me, por favor. I shouldn’t say that about him. By the way, my name’s Monica,” I said, holding out my hand.

She quickly shook it.

“ I’m Antelope, Anty for short. I’ve been working in these pits for a long time,” she said, putting the back of her hand against her dusk mask to keep from sneezing.

“ Make sure she doesn’t mess anything up, Antelope,” Dr. Oliver said from his position on the other end of the dinosaur. I noticed we were working on a tyrannosaurus rex.

“ Wow, she looks to be in pretty good condition. Might be as good as the one in that museum in Chicago. What do you think she weighed? My guess would be about two tons, maybe two and a half or three,” I lazily commented as I started to dust off the side of the dinosaur’s skull.

Anty stared at me in surprise.

“ Yes, that’s a very good guess. How would you know?” she questioned.

“ Eh, I’ve been interested in Ancient History, dinosaurs, and a bit of biogenetics since I was young. Although I’m way fonder of the former two than the latter, and better in them, too,” I said with a grin.

Anty would’ve replied again if a large creature hadn’t suddenly leapt over the side of the pit and landed beside her.

“ Ayiiii!!” she screamed, falling flat on her butt as the creature advanced on her.

It looked like the scariest thing I’d ever seen in my entire life, but I couldn’t let her get hurt.

I flipped my hands under me, then kicked my feet out, kicking the creature to Anty’s side.

She was on her feet in a second, running to cower in the corner as Dr. Oliver jumped up and delivered a swift kick to the recovering creature’s mid-section.

“ Anty! Get everyone out of here!” he shouted at his paleontologist friend as five more creatures leapt into the pit.

Anty nodded and bolted for the other four cowering Mexicans.

“ Vamoose! Rapido!” she barked at them.

As the old saying went: “ Fear lends wings to feet.” Those five Mexicans were out of the pit quicker than she could reissue the order.

That left me and Dr. Oliver in the pit, plus the six creatures.

“ Monica! Get out of here now!” he yelled at me. I shook my head; I was afraid to use my abilities in front of a stranger, so I held them in check, even as Dr. Oliver leapt from the pit.

Four of the creatures followed him, but two stayed behind, now focusing on me.

“ Holy friggin crap!” I muttered as I backed up into the corner.

The ugly things started to swing their weapons at me, so I held my arms up in front of me, hoping to somehow ward them off without using my abilities.

I was more stunned than the things were when a blast of red energy erupted from the wall beside me, knocking them to the ground.

When I opened my eyes again, a weird red object was floating in mid-air in front of me.

I reached out and took it, not knowing what else to do. The red energy suddenly flooded into me, spreading around to encase my entire body.

I held the object up in front of me, then pressed the center of the pentagram.

“ Red Dragon Power Shaman!” I shouted out. I was stunned as the red pentagram leapt into the air, then expanded to cover my body.

A suit appeared on me, followed by the helmet. Images briefly flashed across the visor as the red pentagram went into the top square on my wrist. I struck a fighting pose.

“ Red Shaman Power!” I called out as the two creatures got to their feet. I now knew what they were called, thanks to the images and info I’d seen on my visor.

“ You Dark Gladiators are no match for a Red Shaman,” I stated as they rushed me.

I couldn’t help but grin as I leapt into the air, landing on the board that crossed the dirt pit.

The fight was on, and I knew without a doubt what the outcome would be!

* * * * *

Daniel put on the gloves and face mask the leader of the pit handed him as he knelt down by the head of the dinosaur skeleton.

“ Man this is one huge animal. What is it, a Brachiosaurus?” he questioned.

“ Yes, a female, by the looks of it. She probably weighed anywhere from five to six tons. You’ll be responsible for the head and neck, while you’re here,” the pit leader said as he went back to work. With his comrades.

Daniel muttered something unintelligible under his breath. “ Yeesh, this day sure is turning out to be a bummer. Could it possibly get any worse?” he mumbled.

He immediately regretted asking the question when six creatures leapt down into the pit.

“ What in the world? What the hell are you?” the pit leader stupidly asked the first creature.

It responded by delivering a strong uppercut to the man’s jaw, sending him flying from the pit and out of sight.

Daniel leapt to his feet, his fists held defensively in front of him. “ Get your asses out of here!” he yelled at the other five workers.

They screamed in fright and ran for the sides of the pit, climbing up the rope ladders that hung over the sides.

Daniel grinned at the creatures as they attacked. “ You made a big mistake coming here today!” he crowed as he jumped in the air and split-kicked two of the creatures in their faces.

One of them seemed to say something to him. “ Oh yeah! Well, yo mama too! Bring it on, you pansy-footed mama’s boys!” he screamed.

The creatures glared evilly at him as they leapt forward as one.

He leapt up and over their heads, using his telekinetic and super-speed skills as best he could inside the pit; he couldn’t do much, though, for he didn’t want to mess up the dinosaur skeleton.

When it became apparent he couldn’t do them much harm in the tiny enclosure, he shoved his feet off the side of the pit, rebounding off another wall as he leapt into the air and out of the dirt pit.

He landed smoothly on the ground ten feet away. Just as the creatures started to approach him again, a black aura suddenly surrounded him.

The creatures were tossed backwards as a black pentagram suddenly floated up in front him.

“ Holy cow!” he said excitedly as the pentagram suddenly changed. A suit was formed around his body, and a helmet appeared on his head. A few images flashed across his visor, and he couldn’t help but grin.

“ Black Dragon Power Shaman! Black Shaman Power!” he called out as he struck up a fighting pose. The creatures seemed to talk amongst themselves.

“ Hey, don’t you know it’s impolite to whisper in front of somebody? You Dark Gladiators picked the wrong time to piss off a Dragon Power Shaman!” he quipped as he leapt forward, a huge grin on his face under the helmet.

I was kicking and hitting at anything that got in my way when I noticed the Black Shaman appear from the pit where Daniel had been working.

After punching a few more Dark Gladiators in the face, I jumped through the air, using my feral powers to allow me to land beside him.

“ Daniel, try keeping these idiots at bay for a little bit. I’ve got to make sure everyone is safe and out of harm’s way,” I told him as I uppercutted one of the Gladiators in the jawbone.

It flew backward into one of its friends, and I was able to take to the air again, jumping all the way to the edge of the dig site.

A bunch of Gladiators had set up a tight ring around the place, shoving back the people that pushed against them trying to escape.

I saw Anty and Tommy fighting with a half-dozen Dark Gladiators near the ring, trying to take them down, and – of course – having absolutely no effect on the strong creatures.

I ran forward, my eyes blazing under the helmet that covered my head.

“ Hey! I thought you guys got the message! This is a demon-free zone!” I shouted, getting their attention.

The six demons shoved Anty and Tommy to the ground, then advanced on me.

“ Tommy! I’ll distract these wannabe idiots! You get everyone out of here!” I shouted as I begin swinging, kicking, and punching at the Dark Gladiators.

A few from the ring around the camp started coming towards me – and Daniel, who’d come up to help me fight – so I threw a quick glance at him.

“ We’ve got weapons. Let’s use ’em!” I quipped.

“ Right!” he agreed.

We reached behind us, withdrawing the weapons from our back sheaths.

“ Shaman Staff!” we called out together.

The Dark Gladiators mumbled something in their alien tongue, then leapt at us once more.

Daniel’s and my Staffs sparked with our individual colors just before we started fighting.

When the Gladiators ringing the camp saw their comrades not having any effect, some of them disappeared, while others came to help them.

I was beginning to feel rather tired from the fight, and I could tell Daniel was as well.

A new set of instructions went across my visor, and I couldn’t help but smile.

I quickly folded my staff into a different shape.

Daniel saw me, and copied my example. “ Shaman Stars!” we yelled together.

In a simultaneous gesture, we threw our weapons through the air, aiming them for the line of Dark Gladiators that surrounded us.

The two Stars moved in an arc, decapitating every last Gladiator there before flying back to us, and automatically reverting to the Shaman Staffs.

We returned them to their sheaths, then glanced around.

Several cars had been turned over, Tommy’s among them.

I knew we couldn’t stick along for long in these forms, so we dashed over to the nearest grove of trees.

“ Power Down,” we said together before walking back into the excavation site.

People were starting to trickle back into the site.

Tommy and Anty came from behind Tommy’s overturned jeep, leading the group of workers that’d been in the pit I’d been helping out in. they saw me, and Anty ran over.

“ Senorita, where did you go? We thought you badly injured when we left the pit and you did not come with us,” she said as she gave me a quick hug.

The five men with her stared at me curiously, wondering the same thing Anty did.

“ I was fighting a bunch of those ugly creatures. They were really tough. Luckily they left before we got too hurt,” I replied, nodding at Daniel.

“ Yes, that is a good thing. It’ll take us awhile to get this place straightened up. We’ll have to get our cars turned right side up first,” Tommy said as he glanced at his upside-down jeep.

I knew that my backpack was – thankfully – still safe under the back seat.

“ Daniel and I could help you get it straight. It shouldn’t take long,” I said as the two of us walked over to the jeep. I made sure no one was watching before I turned to Daniel.

“ You and I both know we have powers, so let’s not bother talking while we get this straight,” I told him as I put my weight against the side of the jeep I was on.

Once again making sure no one was watching, I quickly maxed out, using my body to push the jeep over onto its side.

After that, I went back to normal as I moved around beside Daniel.

We saw two coils of rope under the front seat, so we grabbed them attached them to the jeep.

I held the end of the rope taut over my shoulder as I started forward.

I got maybe two feet before the rope went completely straight.

I couldn’t max out again – I was in sight of other people – so I strained against the rope.

With Daniel’s help, I could feel the jeep eventually giving way to our pressure.

Within five more minutes of pulling, we’d righted the entire vehicle.

Our backs were sore and hurting rather badly, as were our shoulder, arms, and every other part of our bodies, but at least we’d done our job for the time being.

I climbed into the front seat, and Daniel climbed into the back, just as Anty reappeared.

She was carrying two glasses of ice water, which Daniel and I quickly downed.

“ I honestly don’t see how the two of you could have righted a jeep by yourselves,” she commented as she took the empty glasses back from us.

“ When I lived in Myrtle Beach, I had practice helping to save animals in the ocean. And believe me, righting that jeep was almost as difficult as trying to help convince a shark that its broken right fin needed mending,” I told her.

She barely nodded before scurrying off, and Tommy took her place.

“ I’ve talked with everyone here at the site. I’m taking you two back to my house. We’ve got something to discuss,” he stated.

“ I don’t know, Dr. Oliver. My mom’s expecting me back at the house after I’m finished here,” I said.

“ She’ll have to wait, Monica,” he said as he got into the driver’s seat.

All three of were surprised but grateful when the engine turned over, and we were able to drive out of there.

I checked my purse – it was in my backpack – and saw that the only thing that’d been damaged was my pager.

Unfortunately, it’d been crushed under the jeep when one of the bars had fallen across it.

I thanked my lucky stars that my perfume hadn’t leaked onto my cell phone and ruined it as well. Tommy glanced at the mangled pager in my hands.

“ I can have that fixed within a week or so,” he said, so I gave it to him to put in his jacket pocket.

Daniel and I stayed silent as we drove to Tommy’s house.

As he parked outside his lovely house, my cell phone started ringing – I had the ringer set to the Irish song “ The Black Velvet Band” by the Grehan Sisters.

“ Hello?” I said.

“ Monica! Where in blue blazes are you?” Anastasia demanded to know.

“ Well, in case you didn’t know, I have detention with Dr. Oliver. He made me and Daniel come back to his house because we’ve got to help grade and look over a bunch of papers from his classes."

" Look, I have to go now. We’re about to go inside,” I said as we started walking up the steps.

“ Well, okay then. Adios,” my twin said as she hung up. I tossed the cell back into my purse as Tommy unlocked the door and we went inside.

I was curious as he led us inside to a model of a t-rex skeleton.

He barely touched it, and a trapdoor opened in the floor near us.

I gulped in apprehension as he started slowly down the steps that were revealed; with a nervous glance around the hallway, I slowly followed him and Daniel down the stairs.

When my eyes adjusted to the dimmer light, I realized we were in some kind of underground dojo – or rather, the remains of one.

The place had been totally trashed. The computers for the most part had been dismantled, and the floor had been badly scarred.

Even most of the floor had been burnt or torn up. Against the far wall, a young black man abut my own age, and a red-haired woman about Tommy’s age were busy working on the computers and technology.

They glanced up when they heard us come in.

“ Yo, Dr. O., this stuff is worse than my first computer class when I was in college,” the guy said before he noticed us.

The woman turned around in the swivel chair she was occupying.

“ Yes, it will. Those Tyrannodrones totaled almost everything. We lost all the little bit of information we had on those new morphers,” she said as she stood up, eyeing Daniel and me warily.

Beside her, the young man yelped as the computer he was trying to repair sparked and shocked him.

“ Dr. O., this place is gonna need major electricity to help get it up and running and properly running again. I hope we’ve got enough money for the electrical bill,” he said.

“ Tommy, who are they?” redhead asked our teacher.

“ They helped us fight off a bunch of alien minions at the excavation site. They were there because I gave them detention in school,” he said as Daniel and I continued to look around the sadly ruined place.

“ Who are these Tyrannodrones you mentioned?” I curiously questioned, leaning over to look at the remains of an emblem in the center of the ruined dojo floor.

“ An army of alien minions that the Dino Thunder Rangers had to fight,” the black guy explained, yelping again as the computer shocked him a second time.

“ Look, I brought you two here because I know you know who those Power Rangers that helped us were. We need to know, so we can contact them,” Tommy said as he went to stand beside the woman.

I quickly did a scan of the two strangers’ minds.

“ Well, since you, Hayley, and Ethan seem to know about Power Rangers rather well, I guess I could help out. You need help with the electricity, right?” I asked him.

“ Yeah, man, that bill is gonna be huge!” Ethan exclaimed as he finally stood up.

“ Well, Dr. Oliver, I know you can trust me to keep your secret, so I hope I can trust you to keep my secret,” I calmly said as Daniel stared curiously at me.

“ What secrets could you possibly have that’re bigger than the ones we keep?” Ethan quipped off-handedly.

“ This,” I said as I held my hands out in front of me. I moved them around, and electricity started forming in my hands.

I turned to the nearby mainframe – Hayley had been working on it, and it looked to be repaired – and let the electricity pour forth into the machines.

The lights around me brightened to their normal florescence, and the mainframe computers suddenly sparked to life.

I closed my hands, and the electricity stopped, as I turned to face the surprised people standing nearby.

“ O-kay. Dr. O., you never warned us about people who could do that,” Ethan said, his brown eyes wide in disbelief.

“ That’s because there is no record of people that can do that,” Tommy replied.

Beside me, Daniel focused his gaze on a nearby screwdriver, and it floated up and into his hand.

“ So, anything I can do to help out? My parents don’t much care what I do,” he said to Ethan with a small smile.

“ Sure,” Ethan said, just as the dojo’s newly-repaired alarm systems started blaring.

Hayley rushed over to the mainframe, typing in a set of commands on the un-touched keyboard.

“ A group of those monsters you mentioned are at the High School, Tommy,” Hayley said worriedly.

“ Guys, we’ve got to do something!” Ethan complained.

“ We can’t. We’re not Rangers anymore, Ethan,” Tommy said in a dejected tone.

Daniel and I took out our Shaman Morphers.

“ No, but we are,” he said as we raised them in front of us and pressed the center of the pentagrams.

“ Red Dragon Power Shaman!” I called out, standing still as the suit formed around me and the helmet appeared and conformed to my head.

“ Black Dragon Power Shaman!” Daniel shouted, standing still as his own suit formed around and his helmet appeared on his head.

“ Look, guys, I don’t have time to explain this. We’ll be back. Dance with the Demons!” I shouted.

This phrase had come to me over my visor, and it instantly teleported us to Reefside High School.

A monster that looked like a cross between a mutated Pteradactyl and a mutated Venus flytrap plant was spraying nearby teens and teachers with some kind of gooey substance, which came from the flytrap on top of its left wrist.

“ HEY!” I bellowed, getting the creature’s attention as it slowly turned to face Daniel and me.

We had our Shaman Staffs drawn and converted to their Star forms.

As one, we tossed them at the butt-ugly monster.

They struck him, but he somehow managed to spray them with the same sticky substance, causing them to clatter to the ground, totally useless for the time being.

“ Crap! He just took away our weapons! Now what’re we supposed to do?” I asked Daniel, for I needed a weapon to fight in this case, or so I thought.

“ Use your powers!” he shouted back as he ran forward.

I watched as he suddenly sped up, becoming a black blur as he struck out at the monster, knocking it to the ground.

“ Okay. I just hope this doesn’t hurt too bad. Flaming Wall of Terror!” I called out, thrusting my hands forward.

A wall of fiery energy suddenly leapt up, speeding straight at the monster.

I grinned under my helmet as the wall struck and surrounded him, burning away all his flytrap weapons and destroying his plant genes.

Daniel ran back to stand beside me.

“ That was pretty neat,” he said as he leveled his gaze on the monster.

It started to float helplessly in the air.

With another smile, I created a small pool of electricity on the ground.

When Daniel released his telepathic hold on the creature, it plummeted to the ground, exploding as its body impacted with the electricity.

I whooped in glee as I high-fived Daniel.

“ We did it! We actually did it!” I exclaimed as our Staffs went back to normal and we replaced them in their sheaths.

I started to say something else when a large energy-like sword appeared over the creature’s remains.

I stared in horror as the thing was quickly regrown to monumental proportions.

“ Holy shit! That thing will be impossible to beat!” I exclaimed in fear.

Daniel’s mind shifted after the monster grew. A set of instructions flashed across his visor.

He raised his left fist to the sky.

“ Light over night! Black Dragon Might!” he shouted as he pressed the pentagram symbol on the diamond on his glove.

He lowered his fist as a mighty roar split the air.

In the nearby ocean, the water started frothing as a mighty blue machine emerged from out of the water.

The machine shook itself off as it rose into the air, then flew for the high school.

Daniel whooped happily as he saw the creature.

He put his feet together and shot through the air, landing in the Blue Dragon zord’s cockpit.

“ Blue Dragon zord online!” he called out as the thing flew at the huge monster.

“ That puny piece of metal cannot defeat me!” the creature shouted, blasting at the zord with both its arm-mounted flytraps.

A sticky substance covered the zord’s wings, forcing it to land on the ground in front of the monster.

“ Daniel, you’ve got to get that stuff off your zord!” Monica shouted from the ground.

“ I’ll heat things up a bit for you!” she added as a sudden blast of heat hit the zord’s wings.

This totally liquefied the gooey junk, and it easily slid off to the ground.

This had allowed the creepy creature to withdraw a sword of sorts, and it started attacking Blue Dragon.

Daniel held on tightly to the seat as the cockpit was rocked by the blasts.

I stared in anger as the butt-ugly demon attacked my new friend.

I heard an unfamiliar voice in my head: I’m not your Dragon, but I’m asking for help. My Shaman and I cannot take much more of this!

I glanced up with renewed determination. “ Okay, pal, you asked for it!” I shouted as I brought my fists together in front of me.

I held them in a parallel line in front of my chest as I concentrated my mind on one of my lesser-used powers.

As I concentrated, electro-magnetic energy started swirling around my fists and wrists.

With a slight grunt, I thrust my right fist forward, aiming the energy at the monster.

It struck him and he started to weaken from my assault.

My legs started to sag from the effect, but I kept it up until the monster’s sword shattered.

Then I collapsed to my knees, my chest flaring in pain. “ F – Fly to Freedom!” I stuttered, teleporting away just as I demorphed.

When I opened my eyes again, I was in the dojo once more, lying on a red upholstered couch.

Hayley was sitting beside me in a wooden chair, sponging my forehead with a wet cloth.

“ She’s awake,” she said as she put the cloth and bowl of cold water aside. I glanced wearily around me.

“ How long was I out?” I questioned.

“ For almost two hours. It’s five o’clock now,” she said as I weakly sat up.

I then noticed Tommy, Ethan, and Daniel sitting at the mainframe computers across from us.

“ Daniel’s Dragon appeared and redid the place. As a favor for you helping out in battle,” Hayley explained as my eyes took in the brand new dojo.

From what I’d seen earlier of the original place from Ethan’s mind, it’d looked very similar to what it did now.

Only now, it had a Dragon Power Shaman theme, and the pentagram emblem was where the dino emblem had been in the old place.

“ Is Blue Dragon okay?”

“ Yes. He’s very tired from his effort, but he’s fine.”

I smiled at the woman; she had a motherly type air about her.

And that then reminded me, especially when the cell phone in my nearby purse rang. Tommy got up and answered it.

I could hear my mother’s angry voice on the other end.

“ Where in the world is my daughter, Mr. Oliver?” I heard her ask my teacher.

“ She’s here with me, Ms. Casteel. She was helping me grade some papers, then she got a headache and we took a break. I’m sorry we lost track of time. Would you like me to bring her back to your home?” Dr. Oliver asked my mother.

“ No, that’s fine. Anastasia is on her way to pick Monica up. Just make sure that you or my daughter calls next time, all right?”

“ Fine,” Dr. Oliver said as he hung up. I pushed myself to my feet as I heard Anastasia pulling up in our car outside.

“ Thanks, Dr. Oliver. See you tomorrow morning for detention,” I said, starting up the stairs as Hayley helped me.

“ Just call me Tommy now, whenever we’re not at school. And because of what’s happened, I guarantee you’ll have to show up in the dojo more often,” he said as we walked through the trapdoor and it closed.

Anastasia knocked on the front door just as Hayley and I rounded the corner. I let go of Hayley as my twin came up to my side.

I waved goodbye to my new friend as my twin helped me into our convertible and we drove away.

“ Monica Leigh Casteel, it’s ten in the morning. Your friend from school is here already. He said you two were supposed to meet at a place in town to study for a test on Monday,” my mom said as she shook me awake.

I groaned and quickly got up. After making sure my Shaman Morpher was still secure in my purse, I put on a pair of white short shorts, a red shirt, a pair of red sandals, and brushed my hair.

After swishing a little bit of mouthwash around the inside of my mouth – I had my own bathroom up here in the attic as well – I slung my purse over my right shoulder and went over to the first turret.

Below on the ground, I saw Daniel sitting on his black motorcycle, directly by my trampoline.

He glanced up and grinned at me. “ Ya ready?” he questioned.

“ Yeah. Coming right down!” I called out as I jumped from the window.

He stared in shock as I bounced off the trampoline and landed on the back of the motorcycle behind him.

“ Wow, neat trick. Where’d ya learn it?” he questioned as we tore out of there.

“ Something I picked up after we moved here three months ago. It’s really quite easy, with my feral powers and all. Piece of cake,” I added as we zipped through the streets.

From his perch on his swivel chair, Ethan watched Dr. Oliver, Daniel, and me practicing our martial arts.

Daniel and Dr. O – Tommy – were pros at this, since they’d been practicing for a while.

I, on the other hand, really wasn’t that good at using martial arts.

“ Come on, Monica. In order to be a Ranger, you really need to learn the basics of martial arts,” Tommy scolded me. I stuck my tongue out at him.

“ I may not know martial arts, but I can use abilities you don’t have,” I quipped as I leapt up and over his head.

When he went to flip back and slash at me – and Daniel went to hit me from behind – I merely fased out, causing them to crash into each other and then fall over onto the floor.

When I stepped out of their way, I let my body go back to normal, leaning on my parrying staff as I grinned at them.

“ Dr. O., she got you man,” Ethan said with a grin as he got to his feet.

“ Yeah, well, she can’t get me for long,” Daniel said as he got to his feet.

I brought my staff up as he started swinging wildly at me.

When he started using his super-speed and telekinetic powers on me, I grinned at him.

“ Okay, but remember what happened last time,” I said. This – fortunately enough for me – distracted him.

I bent my knees and leapt to the ceiling, my bare feet easily sticking to the smooth surface.

“ Monica, come down. In a fight with your comrades, you shouldn’t use abilities like that against them,” Hayley said.

“ Yeah, well, if I can’t practice against them, who can I practice against? It’s not like Berlioz is gonna send down a bunch of his minions to the dino site again or anything,” I mumbled, reluctantly dropping down to the floor and handing my staff back to Tommy.

On his spaceship, Berlioz swore at the Dark Gladiators that were gathered there.

“ You worthless fools! You pathetic ingrates! You idiotic sleazebags!” he shouted, using his mind to shoot a powerful beam at the nearest Dark Gladiator, disintegrating it on the spot.

Kami came up to him, putting a scaly hand on her husband’s shoulder.

“ My evilness, there is a way to hurt the Rangers,” she suggested, giving the dragon equivalent of a smile as her husband whirled to face her.

“ You’d better give me good news, Kami,” the evil villain warned her.

“ We can kill the boy’s parents, and the girl’s mother as well. The girl does not have a father,” Kami answered, watching as her husband’s eyes lit up with evil glee.

“ Excellent suggestion, my evil wife. Janak, Dhaka!” he shouted, summoning his two daughters to him.

They entered the bridge of the ship, arguing, as usual.

“ Yes, daddy?” Janak questioned.

“ Quite trying to suck up to him, moron,” Dhaka grumbled.

“ SHUT UP YOU BLUBBERING TWITS!” Berlioz bellowed, silencing everyone in the room; the sound of their breathing was the only sound for a few seconds, before Berlioz decided to speak up again.

“ Now that I have your attention, I would like for you each to take six Dark Gladiators down to Earth. Janak, you are to eliminate the Casteel woman; Dhaka, you may kill the Thompson boy’s parents.”

“ Make sure they suffer. Right now, they are at the place called Reefside High. I will send twenty Gladiators down to distract them while you two have fun,” Berlioz said as he hit a button on the nearby control console, teleporting his daughters and the Dark Gladiators down to Earth.

“ Now that those foolish children are gone, I can finally get some relaxation time in,” Berlioz said aloud to no one in particular as he walked down the hall to his bedroom and hopped into a hammock hanging between poles.

“ Yes, and I can get that wax job done. My human form has too much hair on its legs,” Kami said as she teleported to her personal spa on the ship.

“ Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, I’m not sure you understand the psychological impact your ignoring your son is having on him,” Principal Casteel said to the two half-drunk people.

“ Why should we care about that ungrateful child? He ruined my figure and my life when I was pregnant with him, so why shouldn’t I ruin his life as well?” the mother questioned, glancing bleary-eyed at her husband.

“ Yeah. I had hit the boy the other day ’cause he refused to bring me a beer from the fridge,” the father said with a half-grin.

Principal Casteel was disgusted and outraged at this.

“ Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, I’m afraid that if you don’ take better care of your son, I’ll have to call social services,” she said.

“ Fuh-gedda-bout it. Prissy, that boy will be out on his own when we get back home to the trailer. He’s eigh’een years old. Damn well time he got a life of his own,” the mother said drunkenly, falling over onto the desk.

At that moment, a green flash of lightning struck the office, and Dhaka, Janak, and their Dark Gladiators appeared.

“ Surprise, mortals. Meet your doom,” Janak said as she jumped at Principal Casteel.

“ Yeah. Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat. Candy is Dandy, But Murder is Sweet!” Dhaka stupidly crowed as she advanced on the drunken Thompson couple.

The walls were soon covered in red, as the Dark Gladiators and the two demon sisters did their horrendous work.

When it was over, Janak snatched the wedding ring and engagement rings of Principal Casteel’s left hand.

“ To the victors go the spoils,” she said, quoting one of mother’s favorite sayings as she, her sister, and the minions teleported back to the ship.

I brushed my hands off against my suit legs as Daniel and I walked behind a concrete wall and demorphed.

“ That was a little too easy. Those things barely even put up a fight. And, as usual, the ones that didn’t get killed fled away,” Daniel muttered.

“ I know what you mean. It’s like they were trying to keep us away from something,” I agreed, just as our Morphers beeped.

“ Rangers, I’m sending you Daniel’s motorcycle. Something’s happened at Reefside High, and we need you to get over there now,” Tommy said as Daniel’s motorcycle appeared through a portal in front of us.

I stayed silent as we drove, my mind wandering back to the fight.

Several times, I’d felt something wasn’t right, that somewhere, someone was being hurt.

When we drove up to the school, I was surprised to see several cop cars parked on the front lawn, and several motorcycle cops and more cars head for the school.

Students that’d been there for tutoring or to get their late new books were milling about all over the place, and quite a few were crying.

I started to walk through the doors, but one of the female officers held up an arm to block me.

“ I wouldn’t go in there, miss. Three people have been murdered,” she said in a somber tone.

I immediately did a mind scan, my stomach beginning to clench into knots.

With a child-like cry, I shoved past the woman, bolting inside as I ran through the winding halls.

Officers tried to stop me along the way, but I dodged past them, hurdling through the line that barred the way to the principal’s office.

My heart thudded to a stop, my breath caught in my throat, and my stomach heaved as I saw the gruesome sight before me.

“ MOTHER! NOOOOOO!!!!!!” I bellowed, my knees giving out under me as I sank to the floor just inside the door.

Daniel came up behind me as two officers helped lift me up.

Two coroners gingerly placed white sheets over the three dead bodies, their own eyes sad and filled with tears.

“ Such a gruesome death,” the oldest man muttered.

“ And way too young,” the older woman – apparently his wife – agreed.

I held back my tears; Daniel, however – surprisingly – did not.

Tears flowed freely down his cheeks, and ten seconds later he promptly fainted on the floor.

A male officer took the place of the female on my right.

“ We can take her to her home. An officer is already there, talking with her sister,” the woman said to her commanding officer.

He nodded his head as the medical officers turned to reviving Daniel.

I closed my eyes as the two officers carried me out to their squad car, put me in the back, climbed in the front, then drove away from the school.

I sat in the back seat, my chest heavy with the loss of my last living adult relative; mother had no sisters or brothers, and neither had her parents.

I knew nothing of my dad, only that he’d been kind, smart, and Anastasia looked almost exactly like him; Anastasia, though, didn’t know this last bit of information.

I just stared straight ahead as we drove through the streets, my gaze never wavering.

I did look up, though, when we pulled up to my house.

A black Hummer was already parked in the one empty slot, so the car parked behind it, and the officers climbed out.

I merely sat there until the male officer came around and opened my door, picking me up in his arms as the female shut the door.

“ She’s in shock, Jesse. We’ve got to help her,” the female officer said as we entered the front hall.

I expected the officer to carry me to the living room, but he went up to my bedroom via the elevator that’d been installed before we arrived at the house three months.

I hadn’t moved a muscle since I’d gotten in the police car, but I did move when I saw the guy sitting beside Anastasia on my bed.

The man called Jesse set me down, and I stood there staring at the man.

When he and Anastasia turned to face me and the two officers, his face clicked in my mind.

“ You!” I shouted, my eyes taking on a fiery look. He stared at me, wondering why I was angry at him.

“ I’m sorry about your mother, Ms. Monica. Truly sorry. She and I worked at some of the same labs in the early days of our careers,” the guy said.

He and I were – we were lovers. When I found out that you and your sister wouldn’t survive birth without having a new immune system, I had him inject your embryos with some of his special medicines. After I ran away, I heard that he’d been killed in an explosion.

My mother’s words practically echoed those of the man before me.

“ Miss, you really should sit down,” the woman said. I turned to glare at her.

“ Why should I sit down?” I questioned, turning my gaze to face the man sitting on the bed.

“ Tell me, Adam. Why should I sit down and listen to you? Or would you prefer I call you father!” I yelled my voice ringing in the suddenly silent room.

Anastasia wasn’t as startled as I’d thought, so I quickly read her mind; it told me that she’d known all along who our father was, she just hadn’t been able to pinpoint him.

And she wasn’t angry at him, either.

I balled my hands into fists in front of me.

“ My mother is DEAD! All these years, and you never came to see us! How could you do this to us?” I yelled, the tears finally flooding down my cheeks.

“ You really need to calm down,” Emma said as she put a hand on my shoulder. I shoved it off and moved away from her.

“ No one tells me what to do, especially not when my mother’s dead,” I hissed.

I felt like steel bands were tightening around my chest, but I didn’t care.

My anger was roaring through my body, and anger usually gave me strength.

“ Careful, guys, we don’t know what she’s capable of,” Adam warned his teammates as they came up to either side of me.

In response, Emma turned her full gaze on me.

I felt like something was trying to choke me, like a snake was wrapping itself around my throat.

“ Psionic abilities will only get you in trouble,” I wheezed, just barely able to throw off her influence.

Before I could get off a shot at anybody, my morpher suddenly floated up from my purse, wavering in front of me.

I was stunned when Red Dragon suddenly spoke to me from a holographic image that popped up.

“ Do not blame you father, my warrior. It was Berlioz’s daughters, Janak and Dhaka. They and a dozen Dark Gladiators."

" You must welcome your father to your home, for he is the only relative besides your twin that you have left,” she said as her hologram disappeared, and my morpher returned to my purse.

Tears ran down my cheeks once again, and the steel bands tightened even more around my chest.

I collapsed to the floor, my body shaking as the bands tightened and my tears continued to fall.

Adam was immediately by my side, checking my pulse to see how high it was.

“ She’s got to calm down. I’ll have to give her an antidote,” he said as he pulled something out of his pocket.

I didn’t even struggle as he pressed the little thing up to my neck.

A strange calm began to spread over me.

The steel bands around my chest dissipated, and my tears suddenly vanished.

I glanced weakly up at Adam as he lifted me up and onto my bed. Anastasia moved out of the way as he puled the covers up to my waist.

“ She needs to rest for awhile. I’ll stay with her while you get our rooms set up,” Adam told his teammates as he brushed a strand of hair from my face.

I mentally went back in time.

I was seeing the place as the first house ma had ever lived in with us. I was five again, and Adam was leaning over me as he had that night he’d sneaked in to see me.

“ Daddy?” I questioned.

“ I’m right here, Monica,” he whispered. I smiled at him, then drifted lazily off to sleep.

* * * * *

An entire month had passed since my mother had died.

Emma and Jesse had come and gone from the house many times, but Adam continued to stay there.

He’d taken over the job as biogenetecist at Reefside High School, and my social life had slowly gotten back to normal.

I no longer cried every time I saw mom’s picture, though pangs of loneliness did occasionally come over me.

As for my life as a Ranger, my martial arts training hadn’t decreased one bit; in fact, it’d picked up since mom had died.

Daniel always took me straight from school to Tommy’s house, and I very rarely told Adam where I was really going; though I’m pretty sure Emma read my mind and told him anyway, which kind irked me, but oh well.

I was currently at the excavation site with Tommy, Daniel, Anastasia, and Emma.

Tommy and Daniel were off working on a Brachiosaurus skeleton for the time being, while Emma and I sat under a rock overhang and watched the people work.

My twin was off helping some of her new friends excavate a bunch of fossils on the surface of the ground, leaving me free to talk with Emma about her reading me.

Anastasia wiped a strand of sweaty hair from her face.

“ Man, this is tougher than I thought it would be,” she muttered as she helped dig dirt out of a hole that collapsed into itself.

One of the Chinese guys smiled at her.

“ We find pretty strange things here, Anastasia. We once find a bead necklace in a wooden box, from when Indians lived here,” he said with a slight accent.

“ Wow, that sounds kinda fun. Think we’ll find anything else interesting out here?” she questioned him.

“ Who knows. We could find more necklaces, or more bones. It’s hard to tell sometimes,” he lazily commented as he bent to brush off his dusty pants.

Before Anastasia could reply again, the guy went flying into the hole, his body thudding against the hard-packed dirt.

The hole was only three feet deep, but it was deep enough for the fall to knock the man unconscious.

Anastasia whirled around to see a group of ugly alien-like creatures standing there.

“ What the hell are you?” she asked angrily as the other workers scattered, screaming.

In response, they leapt at her. She tried to dodge their blows, but one of them landed a solid punch in her stomach.

“ Ungh!” she grunted as she flew through the air. She cringed in pain as her body fell into one of the empty pits, and her body slammed against the dirt wall.

“ Oww!” she cried out as it jarred her entire body.

Her mouth dropped open as a strange yellow glow surrounded her body.

She shoved herself to her feet, disregarding her sprained left wrist. A strange yellow pentagram floated up in front of her.

She took it, held it up in front of her, pressed the center of it, and shouted: “ Yellow Dragon Power Shaman!”

The yellow light instantly intensified, and her body glowed blindingly bright as a suit and helmet appeared and covered her body and head.

“ Yellow Shaman Power!” she shouted when the morph was complete.

“ Bring it on, you demonic punks! I’ve got business with you fools!” she shouted angrily.

The Dark Gladiators happily obliged her, quickly surrounding the young woman.

Whoa...so Anastasia's a Ranger? I did NOT see that coming. Now EMMA I expected...but anywho, I can't say what tricks both people have up their sleeves. I also really liked the affection Adam showed for Monica. I want to learn more about your characters--they're all really interesting! Keep on writing, Kali!:)

I was talking with Emma when we saw the Dark Gladiators suddenly appear and swarm at my sister and her friends.

Emma and I stood up as one, but she tried to push me back.

“ You don’t need to fight, Monica. I can help handle them,” she told me.

“ Huh. My sister’s involved, so none of your psionic tricks can work or change my mind,” I quipped as I took out my Red Shaman Morpher.

“ Red Dragon Power Shaman!” I shouted.

The second I was morphed, I withdrew my Staff, and – ignoring the startled look on Emma’s face – dashed forward towards the Dark Gladiators.

I wasn’t expecting to see a new, Yellow Shaman standing there in the center of the group, her own Staff held at the ready.

“ Nay-Nay? You’re a new Shaman?” I questioned in disbelief.

“ Yeah, and we’ve both got business with these idiotic punks,” she replied.

“ Don’t count me out. I wanna kick some more demon ass,” Daniel quipped as he joined us, already morphed and holding his Staff.

In addition to the ten Gladiators already there, another eight joined them, giving each of us Shamans six creatures to fight.

We bravely used our Staffs and Stars against them, but this batch was a bit tougher than the last ones.

As Daniel, Anastasia, and I went to swing at three different Gladiators in front of us, the Gladiators suddenly teleported away, causing the tips of our Staffs to clang together.

My mouth dropped open in shock under my visor as our colored lights started swirling around where our Staffs met; it was then I realized we were in a circle.

The lights suddenly exploded, sending us flying in three separate directions – I landed under the rock overhang with Emma; Anastasia landed in the top of a pine tree; and Daniel landed on top of a truck in the parking lot.

Our Staffs automatically had returned to the Sheaths on our backs, but our colors continued to swirl around us.

Each of our individual Dragons spoke to us.

I smiled as I got up and Red Dragon appeared to me.

“ You have inadvertently allowed yourselves to gain your secondary Shaman weapons, my young warrior. Use them well. Make me proud I chose you as the Red Dragon Power Shaman,” she told me.

I nodded as the lights focused on my hips, and two new sheaths appeared, one on each hip.

In the sheaths there appeared two rather wicked-looking swords.

Red Dragon disappeared, and I leapt back towards the Gladiators, who’d begun to wreak havoc on the excavation site again.

“ You fools never learn do you?” I quipped, unsheathing my Shaman Swords.

Anastasia had recovered and was holding a pair of Daggers, and Daniel was holding a lethal Shield in his hands.

“ I think they need a few lessons in proper fighting! Kiyah!” Daniel shouted as he started fighting.

“ Yeah. These idiots are powerless against us. Hi-ya!” Nay-Nay quipped.

We began attacking the creatures in earnest, our weapons dispatching them rather quickly.

When they suddenly were grown to a single, giant Dark Gladiator, Nay-Nay and Daniel summoned their mighty Dragon zords.

I sat by and watched as the fight progressed.

“ Geez, when am I gonna get a zord. Nay-Nay and Daniel got ’em right off the bat,” I muttered in a half-angry tone.

Do not worry, my young Red warrior. Your time will come, Red Dragon whispered in my mind.

I nodded my head as I watch the Yellow and Black Dragon zords obliterate their opponent.

It’s been four months since those Dragon Power Shamans first arrived here in Reefside, Cato Sylvar Egidius thought to himself, and they’ve yet to reveal their identities.

Maybe if they did, they could help me out some.

Even as he was thinking this, one of the school bullies – an asshole QB called “ Rock” – strode over to him.

“ Hiya, Stinky. Got any new smells for us today? Maybe you could create a stink-bomb to get us important people out of chemistry class!” Rock said, laughing at his own stupid comment.

Cato shook his head and put his class books into his locker, then shut it and twisted the dial on the combination lock.

“ Nah, I think I’ll leave that to you and your athlete-feet friends,” he quipped. Rock glared hatefully at him.

“ You’ll pay for that, Skunk-Boy,” he threatened, balling his hand into a fist as he stepped forward to sock the young teen boy in the jaw.

“ Mr. McGraw, you’re not about to hit that guy, are you? You’d get detention and be banned from the football field for the next two games,” a man said as he stepped up to the two guys.

He’d been filling in for the principal’s position for the past four months.

“ No, Principal Cane, just giving him a friendly lesson in how to avoid getting stuffed in a locker,” Rock said as he glared at Cato again.

“ Fine. Then come with me. Mr. Egidius, I’ll see you back here on Monday,” Principal Cane said as he started to walk away, Rock right behind him.

Cato shook his head, then swiftly walked from the school.

He headed straight for his home, the forests surrounding the dino excavation site.

On the way through the forest, he met up with his friends – Skunk and Otter.

“ Greetings, friends,” he said to the two animals, bending over to scratch Otter behind the head and rub Skunk’s chin.

They both chattered something at him, making him smile.

“ Yes, I had a rough day in school, as usual. But please, don’t go spraying Rock again. Not yet, anyway,” Cato told Skunk as the animal seemed to grin at him.

The trio walked peacefully through the woods, stopping only once or twice to say something to each other.

When they came to the edge of the woods, Cato looked around the area.

The excavation site seemed to be deserted for the time being, so they carefully walked across the open space.

Cato was lost in thought until otter stopped and started chattering nervously.

When Cato looked down, the young teen saw something embedded in one of the rocks at his feet.

“ What in the world is this?” he questioned as he bent down to examine it.

At that moment, Otter and Skunk gave out individual exclamations of animal fear. Cato glanced up as they took off running for the nearby woods.

When he turned back around, the object he was looking at was lying in his palm – he had no clue how it’d gotten there – and a group of the ugly alien minions that’d become a common occurrence around Reefside.

And at that moment, Cato realized that what he held was the Blue Shaman Morpher.

He’d heard tales about this particular Morpher from his animal friends and their acquaintances since he was a young kid, but he’d never really believed them until now.

As he raised the object in front of him, it began to glow with a bright blue aura, which quickly spread to his own body.

He pressed the center of the pentagram and shouted: “ Blue Dragon Power Shaman!”

Blue light radiated through the air as it covered his body, forming his suit and helmet.

He struck a fighting pose as his Staff appeared on his back, and his Lance appeared on his left hip.

“ Blue Shaman Power!” he triumphantly called out.

The creatures wasted no more time; they immediately attacked him.

“ I can’t believe my dream came true! At last, I have the Power!” he shouted.

When it appeared the creatures couldn’t be defeated with mere fists and feet, Cato withdrew his Shaman Staff, then did something the Dark Gladiators definitely weren’t expecting.

Cato Sylvar Egidius turned into a human-sized satyr!

The Shaman Staff took on a blue, vine-covered look, with goat-like hooves at each end.

“ Ta-dow! How d’ya like me now?” Cato questioned as he stepped forward and began attacking the dozen creatures there.

Although he was in the shape of a human sized satyr, his body was still covered in the Blue Dragon Power Shaman suit, making him look rather – different.

He couldn’t keep from grinning as the things started circling around him, for he was eager to kick some major booty!

I happily chatted with my teammates as we practiced our martial arts moves in the Shaman dojo.

It’d been three months since the young Cato had joined up with our team – which made it seven months since I’d first become a Shaman.

He was still a bit shy around the rest of us, and preferred the company of his animal friends.

“ Come on, Cato. Hanging out with us is fun,” I said as he started to leave.

“ I miss my animal friends. My home is in the forest and the woods. I need to be in nature,” he said as he tossed his towel around his neck. Tommy glanced up.

“ It’s time for us to go anyway. We’re supposed to be helping out at the dig site today. An old student of mine is going to be joining us,” he told us.

Nay-Nay, Daniel, Cato, and I quickly went behind our separate screens and changed into new, clean, dry clothes.

I came out wearing a pair of red short shorts, a red top, a pair of white socks, and a pair of tan ankle-height hiking boots.

Cato was wearing a blue sleeveless muscle-type shirt, a pair of blue jean shorts, and socks and boots exactly like mine.

Nay-Nay was wearing a pair of beige jean shorts, a yellow sleeveless blouse, and a pair of sandals.

Daniel had on a black tshirt, blue jean shorts, and boots and socks like mine and Cato’s.

After we were all finally dressed, we headed outside to where Tommy was waiting.

I hopped into the jeep with Tommy and Cato, Anastasia hopped into our convertible, and Daniel climbed onto his motorcycle.

We drove in a straight line for the excavation site, occasionally using our morphers – at the disapproval of Tommy – to talk with one another from our respective vehicles.

As soon as we pulled up to the site, we put our morphers away and climbed out.

Since we’d been hanging around the place rather regularly, we each had our own designated pits; I worked with the tyrannosaurus I’d first been assigned to, Daniel worked with the brachiosaurus, Nay-Nay worked on digging up fossils, and Cato worked with the triceratops he’d first found a few months back.

I happily chatted with Anty – who was now happily married to her fellow worker, Freido – as we carefully dusted off the precious skeleton.

This kind of work definitely interested me, for sometimes – when no one was looking – I could use my abilities to speed the progress of getting it dug up.

I’d just started in on dusting off the part of the right arm that was still buried when Anty nudged my shoulder with her elbow.

I’d realized that someone had been calling me, so I looked up to find a rather handsome stranger staring down at me.

“ Hi, my name’s Riley Finn. I came here to talk with you, Monica,” he said, flashing me a dashing white smile.

I blushed and turned to Anty.

“ I’ll, um, be right back,” I said as I tossed my brush to the ground and stood up.

Riley squatted down like he was going to help me climb the ladder, but I merely smiled.

I shoved my feet off the ground, grabbing hold of the pit ledge and yanking myself out of the pit and onto the rocky ground as I did so; as usual, I landed right on my feet.

It was a move Tommy had helped me perfect months ago, when I’d first become a Dragon Power Shaman.

Riley and I walked side by side through the excavation site.

“ Well, what is it you wanted to talk to me about, Mr. Finn? As you may or may not know, I’m just a twelfth grade student, not a real archaeologist or paleontologist,” I told him as we entered a natural cavity in the nearby rock walls.

I sat down on one of the lounge chairs, motioning for Riley to do so as well on the one next to mine.

“ Monica, I’ll be straight out with you. I used to work for an organization that studied, reevaluated, and reprogrammed alien or supernatural thing."

" That organization went downhill for awhile, but we’re trying to get it up and running again,” he said as he sipped on a glass of water he’d procured from the fridge beside him.

I also sipped on my own water.

“ And what has that got to do with me, Mr. Finn? I’m just a twelfth grade student, as I told you,” I said, repeating my earlier statement.

“ Monica, we’ve heard through our sources about some of your – abilities – and we’d like you to join us."

" Work for our organization. You’d get the needed papers to transfer to the college near us, and the pay is good enough to compensate for whatever expenses you might incur,” he told me.

I was quite stunned at this.

To have the chance to work alongside such a man as this! It would be a great opportunity, but I had several things to ask him.

“ What is this organization like? How many women are in it, and who runs it?” I demanded to know.

“ I’m only allowed to say that you’d be the first – if not the only woman – to work for our dispatch teams for awhile. And I now run it,” Riley replied.

“ Hmm, it seems like a good proposition, Mr. Finn, but there would be a few problems."

" I have obligations here, and there are times when I’d have to be excused from my work at this new place."

" No questions asked, of course, by my fellow workers. Only you would be privy to know my whereabouts when I’m on my own – missions.”

“ We keep our secrets tightly guarded. No one can get into our systems without a retinal scan, voice recognition, a fingerprint identification, and an I.D. card.”

“ Hmmph, seems like a lot of extra precautions. Well, I’ll have to tell my father. He and my twin will be a little upset, but I’m sure I can assuage their fears.”

As I stood up, I heard screams coming from the site. Ignoring the startled look on Riley’s face, I bolted to the source.

Hmmm...I don't trust this Riley character...or the scream, lol! Kali, I have a minor critique. That last bit of dialogue was confusing, because I could not tell who was saying what--the lines seemed ambiguous. Next time, could you please add a few "he said," or "she said," in order to clarify who's saying what? Otherwise, though, it's looking great as usual. Would like to see more of an interaction between Cato and the others rather than just a time lapse, though. But keep up the great work!

Jonah Samuels smiled happily as he shook hands with his idol.

“ Mr. McKnight, it’s an honor to finally meet my idol after so many months of waiting,” he told the red-dressed soccer coach.

Connor smiled back at him.

“ Dude, it’s no prob. Besides, if you’ve got Dr. O. in your future classes, I consider it my duty to help ya out,” Connor quipped earning a serious stare from Tommy, and a burst of laughter from Jonah.

“ Connor, I suggest you keep your mind on coaching the soccer team, not cracking jokes on your former teachers,” Tommy warned him.

“ Yeah, Connor. Besides, Dr. Oliver is kinda cool. He’s one of my favorite teachers in the school,” Jonah piped up, defending the paleontology teacher.

“ That’s because you haven’t had him as a teacher yet. Just kidding!” Connor added with a smile as Tommy pretended to punch him.

Jonah was about to make a sarcastic comment of his own when flashes of green lightning sparked all over the site.

In each of the five places where lightning struck the ground, six minions appeared, making a grand total of thirty of the ugly creatures.

“ What the hell?” Jonah exclaimed as the things started swarming all over the place.

Connor and Tommy took on defensive stances.

“ Get out of here, we can help handle them until the Shamans arrive,” Tommy warned Connor’s friend.

“ Huh-uh. I’m not leaving a perfectly good fight like this!” Jonah exclaimed as he leapt straight at the closest creatures.

When one of them started to swing at his feet and head, he leapt in the air, surprised when his body floated in the air for a few seconds before floating back to the ground.

“ Hey, uglies, wanna play?” he asked them as they glared at him.

When they started closing in, he took that as a yes.

He jumped in the air again, floating over one of the creatures as it went to raise its mace-like weapon.

“ Idiot!” he crowed as he grabbed the weapon and touched back down on the ground again.

“ This is what I like most about this town. It never gets boring!” he used the foreign weapon to his advantage, smashing as many of the creatures as he could.

When his weapon was knocked from his hands, he was knocked to the ground.

He glanced over the ground to see one of the hideous creatures about to slash Connor over his chest.

“ NO!” the young man bellowed.

He suddenly tore into the dirt and ground, running forward until he sensed the creatures above him.

A sudden purple light encased him, covering his body in a suit and helmet just before he burst from the ground directly under the creatures’ feet.

* * * * *

I was using both my Shaman Swords against the six Dark Gladiators near me – Nay-Nay, Cato, and Daniel were off fighting their own creatures – when I saw the Gladiators over near Connor and Tommy suddenly go flying.

I was momentarily distracted as yet another new Shaman stepped onto solid ground, though this one was purple.

I should’ve been watching my opponents, however, for I was suddenly knocked through the air.

My Swords flew from my grips as I landed beside the Purple Shaman.

I kicked the Gladiator that approached me, then somersaulted to my feet, my eyes blazing angrily under my helmet.

“ O-kay, dangerous or no, you guys have REALLY pissed me off today!” I shouted as anger coursed through my veins.

“ Nobody gets the best of me and gets away with it!” I added as my suit and body started glowing a bright red in color.

A secret door seemed to unlock in my mind, and I couldn’t help but grin under my helmet.

“ Red Dragon Roar!” I called out.

I felt my body undergo an instant change.

My suit melted away as my body grew and shifted.

Scaly red skin sprouted all over my body; a scaly tail extended from my tailbone as my body took on a height of seven feet.

My arms and legs became that of a dragon, as my head changed shape, my ears pulled into my head, a muzzle sprouted from my face, and leathery wings unfolded from my back.

I let out a draconic roar as the morph was complete.

I’d become a Red Dragon!

All my Shaman friends were stunned at my transformation.

I watched as each of them – the Purple Shaman included – leapt to the top of the rocks nearby.

“ Black Dragon Roar!” Daniel shouted.

“ Yellow Dragon Roar!” Anastasia shouted.

“ Blue Dragon Roar!” Cato called out.

“ Purple Dragon Roar!” the Purple Shaman called out.

I grinned – even in this form – as each of them was transformed into their signature colored Dragons!

“ Let’s kick some asssssss!” I hissed to them gleefully.

“ Yeah!” Purple said as he flew at his original group of creatures.

“ Thissssss is sssssso much fun!” Anastasia hissed as she used her stronger, bulkier, more powerful form to quickly eradicate her enemies.

I was having more fun than I’d had in all my months as a Shaman.

Soon, every last Dark Gladiator had been killed, so we returned to our regular Shaman forms.

I was about to instruct my team – for I was the leader, as the Red Shaman – to go and demorph when suddenly a giant half-boulder, half-fish creature showed up on the scene.

“ Light over night!” all four of my teammates shouted together.

“ Black Dragon Might!” Daniel said.

“ Yellow Dragon Might!” Anastasia exclaimed.

“ Blue Dragon Might!” Cato crowed.

“ Purple Dragon Might!” Purple shouted.

I grinned under my own helmet as they powered up into their individual zords to fight the thing.

Even with the added help of Purple’s zord, it seemed they needed an extra boost, so I concentrated my efforts into channeling enough power for a weapon I thought my friends could use.

And I sent the coordinates straight to Purple, for I knew he’d be the one to defeat such a creature as this.

“ Hey, Boulder-Dash! I’ve got a surprise for you!” I called out, momentarily distracted the giant butt-ugly monster.

“ Yeah, Red Ranger? And what are you gonna do to stop me now?” he asked, smacking his giant fist into Anastasia’s zord and knocking it from the sky.

“ THIS!” I bellowed as I threw my hands out at Purple’s zord.

Lightning, fire, electricity, and every other known element swirled from my hands, consuming Purple and his zord in a giant elemental tornado.

The tornado moved as the two fighters did, keeping them safe, but ultimately allowing them to destroy Boulder-Dash once and for all.

When the fight was over, I demorphed calmly and strode back to where Riley was standing at the entrance to the rock cave.

“ So, is that job still open?” I lazily quipped, a small smile on my face.

“ Yeah, you bet it is,” he replied, and we quickly shook hands.

After he left the cave, I called out: “ Fly to Freedom,” instantly teleporting myself to the living room at my house.

My appearance startled Adam, Jesse, and Emma, who were talking there in rather neutral tones.

“ Look, I just wanted to tell you something. Father, I’ve been offered a job. It’s in another town, and I’d have to leave Reefside High to go live in the town."

" The guy I talked to said that I can get the papers to immediately begin attending the college classes they have, if I really want to. Which I do,” I added after his pained, incredulous look.

“ Monica, I don’t know if you should,” he plainly stated, glancing at his two teammates.

“ Look, I’m eighteen. I have the right to make my own choices. Move out on my own if I so wish. I’d still be coming back here, for visits and – missions that I’ll need to complete. Just don’t worry about me,” I added as I teleported straight to my room.

Without wasting any time, I packed all of my clothes into my suitcases, then packed my makeup and such in my makeup duffel bag.

When I was finished, three suitcases sat on my bed – hey, I was planning on buying new dresses and formalwear when I arrived in this new town, so I only packed my regular everyday clothing.

I was just zipping up my purse – it held my cell phone, Morpher, compact mirror, and hairbrush – when a knock sounded on the door. I glanced up and saw Riley standing in the doorway.

“ Packed already, I see. Ready to go?” he questioned as he came forward and picked up two of the suitcases.

“ As I’ll ever be,” I replied as I hefted up the other suitcase, grabbed my purse and duffel bag, and followed him to the elevator.

We rode it down to the first floor, then walked outside to his black unmarked Ford van.

My stuff – excluding the purse, which I refused to let go of – was stored in the back, and I climbed into the passenger seat.

“ How did your dad take your leaving so suddenly?” Riley wanted to know as we drove past the familiar scenery.

“ Pretty well. I just can’t wait until he tells my paleontology teacher and my sister. That’d be fun to watch,” I mumbled as I reclined in the seat and quickly dozed off.

* * * * *

Red Dragon mentally woke me as the van came to a complete stop.

I glanced around at my now unfamiliar surroundings.

We seemed to be in some sort of underground room.

People were walking – and driving – around everywhere, though most that were driving were in golf carts or vehicles similar to them.

“ We’re here, Monica,” Riley said as he came around to my side and helped me out.

I was stunned, though, to spot the men pointing laser rifles at me standing all around the place.

“ What is the meaning of this?” I demanded to know.

“ My team wants a demonstration of your power, to prove you’re good enough to join us. That I can’t refuse them,” Riley said helplessly as he stepped away from me and the van.

“ You want a friggin demonstration? Hmmph, well, be careful what you wish for. It just might come true,” I quipped angrily as I held my hands in front of me.

I concentrated, and as I did, electricity began to crackle through my fingertips and around my hands.

This Riley character continues to intrigue me! Can't wait to read more!

Kali_WolfChilde

The two men nearest me were quickly zapped, though just enough to make them drop their guns.

I then made the electricity disappear as I leapt straight to the top of the van and stared down at Riley.

“ Well, Mr. Finn, have I passed your stupid test? Am I in? Or do I need to call out my dragon buddy?” I angrily quipped, my feral hormones rising.

“ No, Monica. I think that was good enough. You are officially the Vice President of the New Initiative. Welcome aboard,” he said as he beamed proudly at me.

Our little act was interrupted as alarms and light started flashing on and off in the room.

A bunch of guys rushed over to the mainframe computers nearby, so I jumped straight from my place to land directly beside them.

“ What’s going on?” I wanted to know.

“ Something you shouldn’t be bothered with, Ms. Casteel. A murder has occurred on campus. A group of students found the murdered body of an older woman in the bushes near the library building,” the guy at the computer told me.

I was angered at this.

Ignoring the startled looks of the guys around me, I concentrated my psionic thoughts on the murder of the older woman.

I became the murderer for a minute moment, entered their thoughts, delved into their memory to discover their name.

When I finally found their name, I hissed in anger.

“ Michael Gordon. You’re mine,” I mumbled as Riley finally came over to me.

“ What is it?” he asked when he saw the expression of anger on my face.

“ Michael Gordon. He’s the killer. He murdered the woman because she was different from everyone, and because she wasn’t of his religion,” I angrily told him.

“ We’ll have to make sure no more of these murders take place. Cartwright, take eight men and scour the campus. If you find this man, bring him in,” Riley ordered his comrades.

“ That’s it? You’re not going to punish him for killing an innocent woman?”

“ We will if the situation warrants it, Monica.”

“ Well, sorry if I don’t wait around for your boys to find him,” I retorted as I took out my Shaman Morpher.

“ Fly to Freedom!” I called out, instantly teleporting from the building.

I hadn’t realized that night had already fallen, so of course it was pitch-black outside, save for the street-lamps and lights that dotted the college campus.

I sent my mind out again, seeking for this murderous killer.

I caught a glimpse of him through the nearby bushes, so I didn’t waste anymore time.

With a furious cat-like growl, I leapt out at him, tackling him to the grass.

My eyes went yellow as I turned him over to face me. “ You will pay for your crime, Michael Gordon,” I spat as I began punching his face, chest, and stomach with my balled up fists.

He weakly brought up his arms, trying to block my attack, but I knocked them aside and continued punching him.

I was about to knock him out when something reached down and pulled me back.

I struggled against the person, but they had their arms wrapped tight around me, keeping my arms trapped against my sides.

Riley’s men suddenly swarmed in from all sides, with him in the lead.

I managed to fase out then return my body to normal as I turned to face the one who’d grabbed me.

Without bothering to look him over much, I jumped and kicked him – hard – in the stomach, sending him flying back into the bushes.

“ You really shouldn’t have beat him up like that, Monica,” Riley told me as his men carried the weakened Michael away.

Kali_WolfChilde

“ He had it coming. Besides, my Dragon friend thought I had the right to do something like that, to defend the innocent people out there, so I did.”

Without giving him a chance to reply, I stormed off after his men, quickly catching up to them.

I followed them back to their base again, though this time I went off to explore on my own. I entered a place that was supposed to require and I.D. card – one of my little electrical jolts opened it form me without the card.

I went inside and glanced at the pristine condition of the place.

A desk sat against one wall, and two medical-type tables stood across from it.

I was examining the desk, trying to find out what was in it, when Riley suddenly came in behind me, allowing the door to close.

“ What do you want now, Mr. Finn? Have you come to say you’ve changed your mind? That you want to send me packing back to my own town?” I demanded to know as I angrily sat on one of the sheet covered beds.

I was startled as he came closer to me, his hand gently going to rest on my knee.

“ No, Monica. You’re staying. Here. With me,” he added. My eyes opened wide with shock as he suddenly leaned forward and kissed me.

My feral hormones started raging, demanding more as my hands snaked through Riley’s brown hair.

“ Will you stay?” he questioned, pulling back as his beautiful brown eyes asked the same question he’d spoken.

“ Yes,” I purred as I yanked the blanket out from under me, and we collapsed to the floor.

Needless to say, we didn’t leave that room for another hour. When we finally did leave, I was purring softly like a kitten, thoroughly satisfied with what had just happened.

All of a sudden, my communicator started going off. “ Monica here. Whatcha need?”

“ Monica, I wish you’d waited to discuss this sudden move until we could’ve talked more thoroughly about it. Leaving like that isn’t very becoming of a Shaman,” Tommy scolded me.

I groaned loudly at his condescending tone.

“ Listen, Tommy, it was my choice. I may be the leader of our group, but I also have the power to do what I want, how I want, when I want. I’m a Red Dragon, and I prefer going solo every once in awhile. I’m working right now, so goodbye,” I said, cutting off the communication before he could say more.

Jason Park hummed happily to himself. He’d been dating Anastasia Casteel for nine months now – the same amount of time the Shamans had been in Reefside – and he loved her more each time he saw her.

Right now, he was brushing his short, black, spiky hair so that it didn’t look as messy as it had when he’d gotten up ten minutes ago.

It was already eight in the morning, and – even though it was Monday and they as seniors had no school – they were meeting at the picnic area on the school grounds to have lunch together, along with Jason’s best friend, Daniel.

Jason quickly put on a pair of blue jeans, white socks, black-and-green Nikes, and an emerald-green tshirt.

After gargling a little with some mint-green Listerine, he spit it out and dashed out to his parents’ emerald-green ’78 Trans-Am.

Within a very short time, he arrived at the school. Anastasia and Daniel were just pulling up in their own vehicles.

“ Hiya, handsome,” Anastasia purred as she threw her arms around her boyfriend’s neck.

“ Hey, beautiful. You bring some of your famous casserole?” he wanted to know as she took the large basket out of the back seat.

“ Well, a big ‘duh’ on that one,” she happily quipped as they started for their favorite table.

Daniel spread the cloth over it, and Anastasia started putting out the dishes of broccoli casserole, peach cobbler, potato chips, and macaroni and cheese.

Jason poured the orange juice, and the picnic began.

The guys were constantly cracking jokes, and Anastasia very nearly dropped her drink in her lap!

As they were bringing the picnic to a close, Jason went to make a phony toast to his girlfriend – at the same time three dozen Dark Gladiators appeared around them!

Daniel disappeared into their midst , forcing Jason to try and defend his girl.

He was glad, however, that she already knew martial arts; even still, he blocked many of the punches that would’ve struck her by sticking his own body in the way.

When one of the things knocked him to the ground, he was instantly teleported away.

He was stunned when he arrived at the dino excavation site!

And even more stunned when a Green Dragon appeared in front of him, and handed him the Green Shaman Morpher!

“ You are my Shaman, young one. I have chosen you as my warrior, because of your determination and dedication to the fight. Look inside yourself, and you will know how to use the Morpher and its powers,” the Dragon hissed before disappearing into the morpher.

“ Green Dragon Power Shaman!” he shouted, instantly morphing.

When he’d morphed, he called out: “ Dance with the Demons!”

This teleported him back to the school, where the Purple, Yellow, Black, and Blue Shamans were already fighting the Dark Gladiators.

“ Shaman Cannon!” he called out. The powerful weapon appeared around his chest and shoulders.

“ Fire!” he shouted as he pulled the trigger, obliterating a dozen minions at once!

* * * * *

“ Yeesh. I’ve been at this place nearly two months. I’m surprised I haven’t had more action,” I muttered to myself as I went through a daily martial arts training exercise with one of the other guys in the Initiative’s forces.

Riley was off in college classes, leaving me with nothing to do; and if he were here, we’d either be training together or sleeping together, as usual.

I couldn’t count the number of times we’d done the latter, but he was an excellent lover, of that I’m sure!

I pulled one of my punches when the alarms in the compound started blaring full-force.

Every last member of the Initiative fighting force rushed over to the mainframe computer, staring worriedly at the screen.

I glared angrily when I saw that a rather large – and very ugly – seven-foot-tall spider-monster was walking rampant across the Sunnydale College campus, blasting at cars, trees, and anything it wanted to blast at.

I immediately took control of the situation.

“ Carter, make sure your men are standing in as backup. I’m going in to fight that guy,” I said as I pulled out my Shaman Morpher.

“ Monica, you can’t fight that thing alone,” Carter protested, until I silenced him with a glare; that usually worked.

“ I can and I will, Sergeant. You are not to come into battle unless I say so,” I retorted.

With that, I teleported to a place near the monster’s destructive spree.

I pressed the center of the pentagram as I held it up in front of me.

I don't like how the other Shamans seem to be fading into the background as new ones are appearing...I'd like if they at least could interact with the team for an episode or two, so that we see how they are, before their statuses as newest Ranger are revoked and they disappear from the face of the earth. And I have no idea where your story is going...but that could be a good or bad thing, lol.

“ Red Dragon Power Shaman!” I called out. The second I was morphed, I grinned and pulled out my Shaman Swords.

“ Red Dragon Roar!” I shouted, grinning even more when my body reverted to its seven-foot dragon form.

I stepped out from my place beside the building.

People that were between me and the monster started screaming even louder.

“ Monica, there is now a dragon on the grounds. I repeat, there is a dragon on the grounds with the monster!” Carter called through the communicator I wore.

Even in dragon form I had a small ear piece that allowed me to talk with the base.

“ Sergeant, you don’t know me. I am the dragon. And I’m going to fight this guy on as even a ground as possible,” I retorted.

The spider-monster saw me, and waved all eight of his arms in my direction.

“ My name is Senior Arachnid, and I come to destroy Senorita Ranger!” he yelled in a Spanish accent. I groaned at his seeming stupidity.

“ Fight now, kill you in a minute,” I hissed in my dragon voice as I ran forward.

I must’ve gotten lax from my lack of training with other Rangers, for this creature was ten-times stronger than anything I’d ever encountered before.

He easily knocked my Swords from my strong grips, then sent my body reeling against a nearby oak tree, which left a huge dent in the middle of the tree as I got up.

“ Ouch, that really hurt,” I hissed angrily.

“ Yes, too bad your amigos are back in Reefside. They will not get to see me have the joy of destroying you!” Senior Arachnid shouted as he used all eight of his arms to send me flying through the air again.

I smacked up against an iron, steel-enforced light pole.

It bent a little with my weight, but remained standing. I, however, did not.

I was forced to power down to my regular Shaman form, my arms clutching my chest as I was riddled with agony.

“ Too bad you are so pathetic, Senorita. I thought you would be a more worthy opponent,” the monster said as he lifted a giant sword and aimed it at my head.

I tensed for the blow, but it never came.

When I opened my eyes, I saw that my body was floating a little above the ground.

And not just floating, either; Red Dragon herself was carrying me. “ We must fully merge as one being, my young warrior, in order to defeat this monster. Do you put your trust in me?” she questioned.

I nodded my head, and my body began to literally merge with hers.

When the merge was complete, she’d grown to ten feet tall instead of seven feet; had grown spikes all along her tail; had sharper, stronger, deadlier claws on her hands and feet; and two large horns were protruding from her head.

Well, I only say her because I wasn’t in control of this combined body – she was.

“ You will pay dearly for trying to harm my Shaman, Senior Arachnid. Ultimate Red Dragon Shaman Power! Flame of Torture, Ignite!” she shouted.

A large red and orange sword appeared in her hands.

It seemed to be made of living fire, but it didn’t bother her.

“ Burning Death Slash, Engage!” she yelled out, swinging the sword in a wide arc.

A fiery crescent of energy flew forward, hitting the monster full-force, instantly reducing him to nothing more than a pile of rubble.

Red Dragon and I grinned as we returned to our own, normal, separate bodies.

We had no time to talk, as the monster was quickly regrown to a giant size.

I felt new power flowing through me, one I’d never felt before.

And I knew this could only mean one thing.

“ Light over night! Red Dragon Might!” I shouted at the top of my lungs.

A loud roaring sound filled the air as my Red Dragon zord finally made its first appearance.

“ Oh yeah! Now we’re talking!” I crowed as I flew through the air and landed in the zord’s cockpit.

“ Without your Dragon around, even that hunk of metal cannot stop me!” Senior Arachnid declared.

“ We’ll see about that,” I retorted as I shot a ball of light forward from Red Dragon zord’s mouth.

It encased the monster as I teleported us to a place where there weren’t as many people as on campus.

When the ball of light disappeared, the monster grinned again. “ See, even that could not hold me!”

“ I’m not through, you simple-minded dolt. Not by a long shot! Red Dragon Glider, Initiate and Dock!” I screamed.

Another sound, this one like a plane, filled the air. A large red Glider-like object came hurtling through the air, and as it did, Red Dragon leaped up and on top of it.

Senior Arachnid seemed slightly scared now, and he had a reason to be.

Without wasting time on any more chit-chat and mindless chatter with the butt-ugly creature, I hit a large red button on my zord’s control panel.

Huge red lasers erupted from both zord and Glider, incinerating and obliterating the monster once and for all.

* * * * *

It’d now been a full year since I’d become a Shaman.

Which meant it’d been five months since I’d made the move to Sunnydale from Reefside.

I was currently enjoying an ice cream cone with Riley.

It was a beautiful Friday afternoon on campus, and leaves were starting to change color and fall.

I’d turned nineteen, and started a new year in college already.

And ever since I’d moved to Sunnydale, I’d been too busy working with the Initiative to go back to Reefside and visit my twin or my father.

I’d had several more battles to fight with Dark Gladiators and various minions Berlioz sent after me, but with Red Dragon’s help, I always won; though it wasn’t always easy.

One of my more difficult fights had left me with a broken left arm.

None of the fights I’d had since leaving Reefside, however, had involved my teammates showing up to help, for they were usually busy with their own monsters in Reefside at the exact same time.

There were also several times I’d gone out with the Initiative teams to track down a rogue vampire, werewolf, or some other supernatural creature that was terrorizing the local populace.

When I glanced up at Riley, I saw he had a smudge of strawberry ice cream above his upper lip.

I grinned and leaned forward, licking it off before planting a wet kiss on his sweet lips.

“ I don’t know what’s sweeter. Your lips or this ice cream,” he told me as he put an arm around my shoulders.

I laughed and was about to reply when my communicator suddenly beeped.

I knew it had to be serious, for they’d not contacted me in awhile, unless it was by phone or computer.

“ What is it, Nay-Nay?” I questioned, for I knew it was my sister.

“ M – Monica, we’ve got to have your help. This is the worst battle we’ve – been in. we can’t use our Dragon forms for the time being, and our weapons are useless. M-Monica, it’s bad. Kami has killed and inhaled Janak’s spirit, and Berlioz has killed and inhaled Dhaka’s spirit,” she wheezed, and I could hear her suddenly cry out in the background.

Not bad, Kali. But Green Senturion has a point with the "musical chairs game" that the older and newer shamans seem to be caught up in. But as long as the main character you had at the beginning is still active, then it may be okay, in the long run.

Anger flooded through my veins, making my eyes go cat-like again.

Without glancing around to see if people were watching, I immediately teleported away.

The second I was back in Reefside – once again, the fight was in the forest – I morphed.

Nearby, my friends were getting beaten up by the super-powered Berlioz and Kami.

“ You mad us kill our daughters, and now we shall kill you!” Kami shouted, slashing her Death Staff over my twin’s suit-covered chest, knocking her to the ground.

My eyes glittered with hatred under my helmet, so I quickly lifted my head to the sky and let out a loud, draconic roar.

At once, Red Dragon herself appeared beside me. She held her scaly arms up to the sky.

“ Comrades, arise! Join with your Shamans, as was always meant and prophesied to be!” she shouted out.

The Blue, Black, Purple, Green, and Yellow Dragons suddenly appeared, merging with Cato, Daniel, Jonah, Jason, and Anastasia.

As they did with their Dragons, Red Dragon and I merged together.

“ NOOO! THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!” Berlioz bellowed angrily, running forward as he tried to slash all of us at once with a sword he’d borrowed from one of his dead daughters.

I stepped in the way to stop his charge, taking the hit myself.

When Berlioz backed off, Red Dragon raised her right hand, making the others do the same.

“ Flames of Torture, Ignite!” they shouted simultaneously.

Flaming swords in each of their colors appeared in their hands.

“ Burning Death Slash, Engage!” Blue, Black, and Yellow shouted. Fiery arcs of energy swept forward in each of their colors, striking the two villains full-force.

“ Flame of the Death Dragons, Ignite!” Red, Green, and Purple yelled together.

Flames suddenly leapt up from the ground around the villains, searing most of their skin and scales off.

We cheered as they fell to the ground, their entire bodies smoking and charred beyond recognition.

We and our Dragons separated, our bodies returning to their normal dragon or morphed selves.

“ Thank you, Red Dragon. You and the others have serviced us well,” I said, as my friends thanked their own Dragons.

“ Our service and yours to this world are not over yet,” Red Dragon warned me as Berlioz and his wife somehow were suddenly regrown.

“ Light over night!” my teammates and I shouted.

“ Black Dragon Might!” Daniel shouted.

“ Yellow Dragon Might!” Nay-Nay called out.

“ Blue Dragon Might!” Cato yelled out.

“ Purple Dragon Might!” Jonah screamed.

“ Green Dragon Might!” Jason yelled.

“ Red Dragon Might!” I fiercely yelled.

The air and earth trembled and shook as our dragon zords ran and flew towards us.

We put our feet together and flew into the cockpits of our individual zords. I was surprised as the other zords came together, forming the Dragon Ultizord!

“ All right, let’s kick some monster butt!” I heard Cato call out.

“ Not before I use my own little trick. Red Dragon Glider, Initiate and Dock!” I yelled.

My zord’s Glider appeared and flew straight at us. We jumped into the air, safely landing on the powerful vehicle.

“ I’ll tackle the one with the bad clothes and hair-day. You guys take on the one that needs major moisturizing tips,” I quipped as I flew at Kami.

“ You’ll pay for that comment, Red Shaman!” Kami screamed, streaking forward, her Death Staff clutched tightly in her hands.

I grinned from my seat in Red Dragon zord’s cockpit.

“ That is so getting old! Elemental Dragon Attack! Tornada, Electro, Pyro, Aqua, Flora, Glacairo, and Aerosolo!” I shouted.

Red versions of my zord appeared all around Kami, each of them with their particular elemental symbols etched all over their skin.

Each held an identical red sword, and I grinned even as Kami stopped and stared in fear.

“ Your time has come to an end, Kami. All those lives you have taken will be revenged. Begin your attack, my children!” I shouted to Red Dragon’s daughters and sons.

Red Dragon zord and I flew back as the children dragons surrounded the evil villainess, holding their swords in a tight circle, creating an unbreakable wall of Power.

“ Power of Wind!” Tornada shouted, bringing forth a large red tornado.

“ Power of Fire!” Pyro shouted, bringing forth a large wall of flames that shot at Kami.

“ Power of Thunder!” Electro shouted, causing electricity to crackle around him.

“ Power of Water!” Aqua shouted, causing a torrential downpour to come up.

“ Power of Earth!” Flora shouted, making the ground around Kami start to crack open.

“ Power of Ice!” Glacairo shouted, making some of Aqua’s rain turn to hail and sleet.

“ Power of Air!” Aerosolo shouted, causing all the elements to combine.

Red Dragon zord held up its arms, adding its own special power to the ele-tornado.

“ NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!” Kami bellowed as the ele-tornado struck her full-force, slowly ripping her to pieces and reducing the debris to ashes in minutes.

At the same time, a surprise series of punches, slashes, and kicks from the Dragon Ultizord destroyed the enraged Berlioz.

I shouted with glee as I powered down from my zord and landed on the ground, as Red Dragon’s sons and daughters returned to their normal seven-foot size.

I ran over and let them hug me. “ I wasn’t sure you guys would show up, even with me being chosen by your mother,” I told them as they all smiled at me – and at my teammates, who’d come up behind me.

“ We dragons are loyal to our parents, Red Shaman, as we are to one another or those of our outside family. We must go now, for we and mother need our rest. Always know that we children of the Red Dragon will always be around when you truly need us, as you did today,” Aerosolo told us.

He and his siblings held their scaly hands out in front of them.

My teammates and I placed our gloved hands on top of theirs.

“ DRAGON POWER SHAMANS ROAR!” all thirteen of us shouted together.

The seven dragon children teleported away. I turned to my friends.

“ I’m sorry, amigos, but I really must get back to Sunnydale. I will be there if you need me. Adios, mi hermana,” I whispered as I teleported away.

* * * * *

I’d teleported straight back to my bedroom on Sunnydale campus.

Riley was already waiting there – he knew of my strange habits, of course – and smiled gently as I demorphed.

“ I can’t believe my fight with the villains is over. I’m finally free,” I whispered as I put my hands behind his neck and inter-locked them.

He suddenly swept me off my feet, carrying me for my private bathroom.

“ You’re never going to be free, my little catty Dragon. I’m always going to take you with me,” he whispered in my ear as he slowly started stripping my clothing from my body.

“ And I’ll always go with you, my handsome Initiative leader,” I giggled as we hopped nimbly into the shower and closed the glass door.

* * * * *

Epilogue

Two years have passed since the day my teammates and I finally defeated Berlioz and his wife.

That fight went down in the history books of Reefside High. But that’s not what’s more important at the moment.

“ And now, by the power invested in me by the One Who Created Everything, I pronounce you man and wife,” the priestess said as cheering and applause erupted from the chairs and benches in front of us.

I smiled up at Riley, my eyes glittering with love.

In the nearest chairs were my dad, Emma, Jesse, Brennan, Shalimar, Anastasia, Daniel, Jason, Jonah, and Cato.

On the groom’s side were a great many of Riley’s friends and our Initiative colleagues.

My father came up and gave me a brief hug and kiss on the cheek. “ My little girl’s all grown up,” he said as a tear stained his cheek.

“ I know. I love you, dad,” I whispered back as Riley and I kissed another time.

Instead of a traditional white wedding gown, I was in a pair of red tights, a pair of red leather stiletto knee-length boots, a tight red mini-skirt, and an elbow-length off-the-shoulder blouse.

As Riley released my hands, I stepped forward.

I leapt into the air, raising my hands like claws in front of me as I came back down.

I struck the ground twice with my hands, then leapt back up, my left fist raised proudly to the sky.

“ DRAGONS ROAR!” I bellowed.

I’d pre-planned this act, and everyone knew about it. From the shadows of the nearby trees, Red Dragon and her children watched.

She gave me the dragon equivalent of a thumbs-up, then disappeared with her children.

I smiled happily as the band – consisting of a harp, Indian-style drums, several styles of wooden flutes, and a banjo – started up a lively tune.

People began dancing – though rather stiffly at first – as Riley and I went to the center of the nearby dance floor.

My life was totally complete now.

I’d been a Red Dragon Power Shaman – I still had the Morpher and bracelet on me – and now I was Mrs. Riley Finn. It was bliss, the simplest yet most beautiful kind in this form.

THE END

Well, Kali...I'm sorry to say that I'm a little dissatisfied with the ending. I honestly think this fic could've done without the Purple, Green, or Blue Shamans, and been fine with Monica, Daniel, and Anastasia. The latter three Shamans seemed so unimportant in comparison to the narrator, and disappeared into the background after their introductory episodes. Also, Monica's dad and his colleagues lost their importance after the first couple of episodes in which they appeared. The ending of your and Riley's wedding seemed so anti-climactic when put against what was hinted to happen in the beginning of your fic. Avenging the parents' death, perhaps befriending and coming to love Daniel, learning more about Emma and Adam...none of these things happened, and the earlier chapters gave strong evidence that these events WOULD be acknowledged in some form or another. If you do have your fics' endings planned out in advance, which I think you do, try next time to please make it correspond a little more with the beginning so the readers don't feel totally confused and cheated. Don't get me wrong--I enjoyed reading your fic. I was just disappointed by the ending. However, there were many aspects of your fic I DID enjoy, and so I congratulate you on completing one more fic to add to your archives.:)
