Chapter XXV-Out of the Frying Pan,
Into the Fire.
The Rangers, still cloaked by Sai’s silver aura, soon reached the center of the city. “We have to find out what’s happening to those people.” Winter said as the invisibility faded. As it did, Sai sprang to life and got to his feet. “Where am I?” he asked, remembering his broken fingers. “There’s no time for that.” Sirius replied as they looked to the sky. Kanoka leapt to the ground across from the Rangers. “Kanoka, what’s wrong with all those people?” James asked, furious. “Do not worry about them.” Kanoka replied. “My master is giving them special instructions not to attack you until I have a chance.” Kanoka replied, chuckling evilly. “C’mon, guys. I think we have to deal with this thing first.” Lisa said, readying her amulet. Shady and her counterpart then ran up beside the Rangers. “Who are you?” Winter asked, eyeing the duo. “It’s okay!” Lisa called, recognizing Shady. As Shady watched the others hold out their amulets, she did the same to the amulet hanging on her neck. “Zodiac Power, Ignite!” they yelled in unison. “Aquarius Aura, Now!” Lisa yelled, morphing. “Sagittarius Aura, Now!” Sirius yelled, morphing. “Capricorn Aura, Now!” Sai yelled, morphing. “Virgo Aura, Now!” Winter yelled, morphing. “Pisces Aura, Now!” James yelled, morphing. “Gemini Aura, Now!” Shady and her counterpart yelled, morphing. The six Rangers got into their fighting positions and ready for battle.
At the same time, Lance was thrown against the hospital wall once again by what he had though to be his brother. “What did you do with Taylor?” he yelled, dodging another blow from the disguised Kahn. “There never was a Taylor, you human fool!” Taylor yelled, knocking Lance to the ground again. “I am one of the few Kahns who survived the banishment that my brethren suffered!” Taylor yelled, his skin flashing blood red as he screamed. “My race has an unlimited life span, you know.” he added with a sneer, kicking Lance in the gut. “I have lived on this planet for centuries, watching you pitiful humans frolic, waiting for my race to return and conquer this feeble planet!” Taylor cried, knocking Lance into the hallway. “And then they return! And you, you of all people, try to stop them!” he screamed, kicking him once again, sending him sliding down the hall. “Well now, we will conquer this planet!” he screamed, advancing on Lance. “And, unfortunately, you won’t be there to see it!”
Kanoka unveiled his skeleton sword from his palm and watched as the blade glistened in the moonlight. “Now, you die, humans!” he screamed, rushing forward. The Rangers scattered, evading the powerful blade. They then rushed back into the center, their StarBlades ready to strike. To their surprise, Kanoka expertly deflected each attack with his blade. Lisa jumped back and dropped her blade, summoning her twin razor blades. She rushed forward and slashed with her left blade, but it was expertly blocked. She then lashed out with her right blade. It hit Kanoka square in the stomach, creating a gash. Kanoka howled in pain before knocking Lisa aside with his blade. He then turned around to stop an attack from Sai by grabbing him by the wrist with the broken fingers and flipping him onto the ground. Kanoka then began to step on his stomach, but he was knocked away by a surprise attack from one of Sirius’s golden arrows. It stuck into his right arm. James deployed his grappler to a street sign high above and swung forward, knocking Kanoka to the ground. Winter jumped forward and delivered a punch to Kanoka’s head, powered up by her Virgo Gauntlet. As Kanoka got to his feet, Sai rushed him, knocking him into Lisa, who delivered two powerful slashes to his chest. Kanoka then lashed out in pain and delivered a powerful kick to Lisa’s stomach, sending her backwards as he made a one-hundred and eighty degree turn, slashing the five Rangers around him with his blade. Shady jumped forward and jabbed her Gemini Staff forward, sending electricity through Kanoka’s body. Kanoka, writhing in pain, grabbed hold of the staff and hoisted it into the air, bringing Shady with it. He then slammed it back to the grounds, sending Shady flying. Her male counterpart rushed forward, firing away with his blaster. Kanoka easily deflected the blasts, sending them flying at all of the Rangers. They fell to the ground as Kanoka began to breathe heavy from all of his wounds. “Now, you fools,” Kanoka began. “It is time for you to die!”
Kanoka rushed forward with his blade, but a second blade knocked his from his hand. Kanoka stopped and looked at his sword, which was laying next to a StarBlade. “That would be mine!” Trent yelled, leaping over Kanoka and picking up his blade. The others got to their feet and stood with Trent as Yuri watched from the sidelines. “Hexa-Slash!” Sirius yelled as the Rangers leapt into position around Kanoka. “Now!” Sirius yelled as the Rangers rushed forward, taking Kanoka by surprise and stabbing him from seven angles. The Rangers ten leapt back into position, side-by-side. “That’s it. Now the Emperor can reveal himself!” Trent yelled in a taunt. “I’m…not…done.” Kanoka rasped, pulling a satchel from his robe. He untied it and brought it to his mouth, swallowing the potion contained in it. As he dropped the satchel, he began to grow to skyscraper size. “Well guys, it’s zord time!” Trent yelled as they raised their StarBlades to the sky.
“Aries Zord!” Trent yelled as the mechanical falcon rushed down from the heavens. “Aquarius Zord!” Lisa yelled as the powerful shark thrashed in from the sea. “Capricorn Zord!” Sai yelled as the front of the mountain faded away and the Capricorn Zord marched towards the city. “Sagittarius Zord, Now!” Sirius yelled as a golden Zord in the shape of a Centaur marched forward. “Pisces Zord!” James yelled as a dark blue shark Zord flailed into the city. “Gemini Zord!” the Gemini Rangers called as their dual zord emerged. The Rangers all jumped into their respective cockpits, Winter sharing a cockpit with James. “Let’s go!” Trent yelled as the Zords charged into battle.
The Aries zord rushed forward, unleashing a flurry of fireballs at Kanoka. As he deflected them, the Sagittarius Zord fired a round of steel arrows from its powerful bow and arrow that it clasped in its hands. The arrows took Kanoka by surprise, knocking him into a building and giving the Pisces and Aquarius Zords ample time to fire twin jets of water at the wolf-like Kahn, knocking him to the ground, which trembled under his weight. The Capricorn zord wasted no time in marching over to the fallen Kahn and plunging its foot into his gut. “Watch out for Karma next time!” Sai yelled from his cockpit. Kanoka replied with a snarl, knocking the zord from him with his sword. Kanoka leapt to his feet and charged forward, knocking the Aries Zord out of the sky. It plunged downward, heading straight for Yuri.
The Rangers waited for the crashing sound of the Aries zord hitting the pavement, but it never came. In its place came the cry of a horse. The Pegasus zord rushed into the air, the Honor Ranger in the cockpit. It let out a powerful blast of energy from its mouth, knocking Kanoka backwards. The Sagittarius zord then let out a powerful series of arrows as Kanoka attempted to get to his feet. “Damn you, you…damnable children!” Kanoka yelled, rushing forward. But it was too late. The Gemini zord shot its powerful blast of energy, and Kanoka unwillingly charged into it. The air was filled with his screams as the blast annihilated him. The Rangers jumped from the cockpits and dismissed the Zords as they landed on the ground, ready to face their final enemy: Emperor Drag.
