Chapter XXIII-Twin Lights of the Sky
Lisa came, running, up the hill to the cabin in the woods. James and Virgo came as well-with Lisa’s parents trailing behind them. They had quickly discovered that the laboratory they had planned to leave them at was being run by Kahns, so they brought Mr. Diseaga and Mrs. Diseaga with them. Trent, Brad, and Kelsey were nowhere to be seen. As they all approached, they saw what looked to be logs lying on the ground. But as the Rangers approached, they saw that they were not logs-they were the bodies of Sirius and Sai.
Lisa was the first to reach the fallen duo and kneeled down, cradling Sirius’s head in her hands. “Lisa…” Sirius began, his eyes opening. The other Rangers gathered around them as Lisa helped Sirius to his feet. “You must defeat the Kahns. And quickly.” Sirius gasped. “But what about you?” Winter asked, confused. “I…I can no longer help.” Sirius dryly replied. The Rangers looked down at the shattered bits of Sirius and Sai’s gems. Sirius then began to collapse again. The other Rangers helped Lisa bring him into the cabin and lay him down on a cot as Mr. And Mrs. Diseaga stared at Sai, who was still collapsed on the ground.
Meanwhile, Mei and Kelsey were still trapped in the death trap that Mei’s home had become. The television was still intact and, as they had soon given up on escaping, they had turned to the news. But this had not helped to calm them. They watched as they saw Kahns attack Paris, Tokyo, and England. But the worst attacks occurred in Lion’s Side, right outside of Mei’s home. “I can’t believe it’s coming down to this.” Mei whispered, sitting in front of her couch. “It’s okay. They’ll win. I know it.” Kelsey replied as even more electricity flowed through the house.
Back in the center of the city, the brown-clothed escapes were still being slain. Shady stood in the back, overseeing the murderous battle. She was right, Shady thought. We can’t win this on our own. she decided. Suddenly, she was grabbed from behind. “Get off of me!” she screamed, elbowing the Kahn that had held her. She spun around and her vision began to blur. As she felt her head, she could feel the blood seeping over her. She had been shot. She didn’t know by what, but she had been shot. As she fell to the ground, the only thoughts going through her head were that she had failed, and now the world would be destroyed.
Shady awoke in a vast white space. She was sure that she had died, but she could still breath…still move…still feel the blood that was clouding her eyes. There was a man in front of her. She could not make out anything about him…except that he was wearing a purely white suit. “Where am I?” she asked, following to her knees again. “You have died.” the man calmly replied. Shady broke into tears. “But I am here to help you. And you as well.” the man replied, looking at the boy who was crouched beside her. “Take these. You may be Earth’s last hope.” the angelic man commanded, placing a purple gem in Shady’s hand. The white light faded as Shady and the boy beside her disappeared. Shady returned to the battlefield-but not the way she had left it.
Where Shady once stood was now a purple Zodiac Ranger. A few feet away stood a second purple Ranger. From each Ranger, a beautiful pillar of light illuminated from their bodies, stretching high into the sky as the sun began to set. The purple Ranger was indeed Shady, but she no longer could control her actions. It was as the suit had a mind of its own. Shady quickly went into action, slashing through a Kahn with the blade that had appeared in her hand. She could see that the other Ranger was doing the same. Suddenly, a purple staff with silver markings appeared her right hand. She hit it against a nearby Kahn, electrocuting it. She could see that the purple-clad boy was doing the same, blasting through the alien creatures with what seemed to be a golden laser pistol. Suddenly, the suit’s control over Shady was relinquished, and she found herself in control of the staff. The second Ranger joined her, and they stood, back-to-back. “What’s going on?” Shady asked, electrocuting another Kahn. “I don’t know.” the boy replied, disposing of another Kahn with a laser blast. “I don’t think we can hold all of these things off for long!” Shady yelled, watching another Kahn fall to the ground. “Let’s try combining our weapons!” the boy yelled. Shady nodded, and the two spun around to face each other. “Gemini Rifle!” they yelled, bringing the weapons together. The pistol extended into what seemed to be a rifle as the staff attached to the barrel. Shady kneeled down beside her companion and held on to the barrel, balancing out the mighty weapon. “Fire!” the purple Rangers commanded. The staff portion of the blaster began to glow, and then unleashed a spiral of purple and yellow energy, destroying the millions of Kahns then stood in front of them. As the beam spiraled, the Rangers rotated the attacked, wiping out the clusters of Kahns around them. When the weapons separated, no Kahns could be seem. The only things left were the two new Rangers…and the mutilated bodies of the escapees.
Meanwhile, Mei and Kelsey stared at the television screen in shock as the purple Rangers eliminated the Kahns with their powerful weapon. “Who are they?” Kelsey asked. “Well…” Mei began, the Zodiac signs cycling through her mind. “They must both be the Gemini Rangers! That’s the sign of twins!” Mei exclaimed, excited at the finding of two new Rangers. “Now, if only we could find a way out of here!” Kelsey yelled. The electricity in the walls had increased in voltage, the walls beginning to crackle and the lights flickering on and off. But all Mei and Lisa could do was wait, huddled in the house that had trapped them.
Shady and the other Ranger ran through the streets, electrocuting and blasting their way through the remaining Kahns in the city. But, unknown to them, Emperor Kahn and Kanoka were still perched upon a rooftop. “Damn them!” Emperor Kahn cursed. “It’s time give those soldiers some help!” Kanoka yelled, pulling out a satchel. He threw it into the air and green powder sparkled throughout the city. As it hit the grounds, the remaining Kahns in the city grew to a gigantic size. There were five of them left: a silver-skinned Kahn with sharp blades for hands, a Kahn resembling a hunchbacked lizard, a black Kahn with gun turrets for hands, a golden Kahn with spiked arms and legs, and a dark blue Kahn resembling a humanoid shark. As the Gemini Rangers looked up to the sky, they saw the beasts quickly resume their rampage. “I guess we should try to call some of those Zords, huh?” Shady asked. “Yeah.” her companion replied. They raised their StarBlades to the sky and a Megazord began to march forward. It was humanoid it shape, mostly silver, with yellow filling the empty spots on the left and purple doing the same for the right. The head was pure silver, with gleaming yellow eyes. Both Ranger leapt into the air, being absorbed into the joint cockpit as headsets formed over their heads and the controls came to life. “I am Gemini, the last of the Ginrai Warriors! I will protect this land!” the Megazord bellowed, summoning a powerful golden blade in his right hand and a purple blaster in his left hand. “Let’s go!” Shady yelled as the Megazord rushed forward, taking the lizard-like Kahn by surprise and slicing him in half. Gemini then spun around and fired a round of shots at the spiked Kahn, creating a hole in the beast’s chest as the energy bullet emerged from its back. The blade-armed Kahn slashed at Gemini, but it was blocked by his own sword. Gemini then used his sword to remove the Kahn of its left blade before twisting around and decapitating the shark Kahn before delivering a powerful blast of energy to the Kahn who he had taken the blade from. He then dropped the blade as he was hit by a cluster of bullets. He turned around to see the turret-toting Kahn firing more rounds at him. Gemini ducked to avoid the shots of the clumsy Kahn while feeding information to the two Rangers in the cockpit via the headsets. As the Kahn began to reload, Gemini held his hands out in front of him as electricity began to form between them. “Annihilation Burst!” the Rangers yelled in unison with Gemini. A multicolored blast of energy shot from the Megazord’s hands, aimed straight for the final Kahn. As the blast took impact and the Kahn exploded, a final spray of bullets flew towards Gemini. Without any time to dodge, the bullets impacted on Gemini, sending to the ground. The two Rangers were thrown from the zord and demorphed in midair. As Shady got to her feet, she looked into the face of the second Ranger.
