I bet they'll all be a waste of $50. Every PR game after MMPR has sucked. There have only been two good games since:
PRLR for the Gameboy
PRWF for the GBA
That's it.

The console versions are apparently being handled by Pacific Coast Power and Light, who have done many of THQ's motocross games, if I'm not mistaken. Hmm... ;)

I take it it's an all US game, and not a translation of the Japanese games (if there is one).
This could be a good RPG...

Even though I think it'll only be for GBA (remember NS was supposed to be for GCN) it would kick so much as if it was for PS2 and Gamecube. Hurricanger for PS1 was awesome, think of how it could be on the next generation systems.

God bless THQ....
Power Rangers DinoThunder,WWE Day of Reckoning for GameCube, and WWE Survivor Series for GBA!!!!(I know this isn`t a wrestling related thread, but since THQ will be doing those games as well,I`m including them)
I just hope that PRDT is really coming...we should know this week
And if it is true,I`ll be the first to say it`ll probably be out sooner than November

And also,I should mention that the games aren`t going to be anything fancy like an RPG.A license like PR wouldn`t work in those type of games
If there is a PR game for the consoles,I see it being like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game from last year(which would not be a bad thing at all)
The GBA version will obviously be a side scrolling fighting game

Not a power-up game where you just go around fighting TyrannoDrones and monsters.
Why does everyone want an RPG Ranger game. Power Rangers are filled with fast paced action and compared to RPG's like Final Fantasy is pretty light on story and its main focase is lots of fighting and blowing shit up not running around endless hours going on quests looking for stuff and slowly leveling up. The series is mostly about action if your going to make a game based on a show you need to stay true to the elements that make the show great.

Heh. Yeah, I think a Ranger RPG would be pretty lame. The Rangers are all about fast-paced twitch-style run-and-gun, kick-and-punch, smack or be smacked down action. RPGs are too hands-off for a concept like the Power Rangers.
This was always my problem with KOTOR. Sweet, sweet story, but asside from lobbing grenades or choosing when to use a Force power, the rights were pretty much out of my control.

Because Power Rangers dont start off as all powerful, check any season, first couple episodes the team gets rocked by the foot soldiers unmorphed and it takes the whole team to bring down a monster.last couple episode in the season they can almost handle the Motw by themselves.
power ranger beat em ups tend to make me think of LR for the N64(uughh)not that again.Really, a D&D style of rpg would make the most sense.

Do you really think THQ will turn the fast-action Power Rangers into a slow-ass RPG . . . for seven-year-olds . . .?
Power Rangers is a beat-'em-up -- just like the Turtles.

If it is a beat em up,which I have reason to believe it will be,how would they handle Zord battles if the game is two players?
Not that it matters to me whether it`s two players or not, since I perfer playing games by myself.

It doesn have to be slow,I mean D&D because you dont start off all powerful
level up fast get different feats and attributes(like stronger powers, dinoguts better aiming with blasters ,better gem powers, team attacks, better zord pilot, stronger megazord)increase you potential thats what im trying to say.
even though i was seven when power rangers came out its not hard to know what a seven year old would like. Have you played Lightspeed Rescue?? Not a good beat em up example.
Wes Janson
05-09-2004, 12:56 AM
Lightspeed was utter crap. I'm hoping DT will be a much better incarnation. MMPR for the SNES was a much better concept of what a PR beat-'em-up should be.
I'm not saying that the game shouldn't have progressiveness (RPG-esque), but a full-on RPG with turn-based battles, dice rolls, and random encounters wouldn't do something like DT justice.
I'm not claiming to be the authority on what seven-year-olds want. I'm 21. But, I think I can safely assume that a hands-on beat-'em-up would be more widely accepted to the targeted audience (kids) than a real RPG.
I do like the idea of starting off simple -- with just a few techniques and weapons, steadily growing as the story progresses. Kind of like Spider-Man).
But in all seriousness, I'm very sure that this will not be an RPG of any kind. I'll stake your life on that assumption.

Action beat em ups have improved greatly since that era. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I'm not sure but I think Lord of the Rings would go under this catogure to. But really though I dont think the problem with Power Ranger games is its genre but who is makeing them. I dont think THQ are the right people to do a ranger game they dont seem to put it on the major priorities list. Sure they make good WWE games but I haven't seen them do anything else that was really good.
I would like to see Atari make a game myself they did well with other major kids tv licenses like Dragonball Z and Beyblade (I'm not a fan of Beyblade or played the games but I know some fans and they liked the games) also the Transformers game is looking fucking awsome from alot of the stuff I have seen. They are able to capture the feel of the shows in the game and seem to please the fans of the show and thats the most important thing to do since thats the main audiance your trying to attract. Its to bad they dont make the games.

Cool, a DT console game. There is the potential for a good game, if they don't make it as crappy as Lightspeed for N64. Good grief, that game was terrible.
I wish that Disney would let Bandai make the games again. Only a few of THQ's games have had redeemable qualities, and Bandai has proven they can make good games.

.
THQ has done plenty of great games, besides WWE.Scooby-Doo,the MX motocross games, and Red Faction are just some of them
To be honest,I think THQ really takes a lot of undeserved critism for the PR games.Sure, some haven`t been too hot,but I`d rather have them do it then someone like Acclaim. For the most part,I think they`ve done a fine job.Their portable PR games have been excellent, especially Ninja Storm.
I think if that if they are doing a PR game on the consoles, that should show that they do care. But remember,PR is a kids license, and they`re going to tailor the game towards younger players. And it`s not the hot license it was years ago,so no matter who was doing the games,it wouldn`t be the number one priority on their list.
I just don`t want us all to be damning this game for the whole summer, posting nothing but rants as to how it`s gonna suck.Let`s wait and see how it turns out before we give it the thumbs up or thumbs down.

The street clothes and regular morphed fighting should be like that of Hunter: The Reckoning (or Brute Force as a second choice). The individual zord fighting should be like that of... MechAssault. And the megazord fighting should be like when you play Mech Warrior in two player. Where player 1controls the upper half of the mech and weapons and the other person controls the lower half of the mech and weapons.

But this is a kids' game. You have to realize that it has to be readily accessible (and beatable) by the kiddies. The gameplay mechanics (and graphics for that matter) will be simple and routine at best -- something of little challenge to the average gamer. That's probably why IGN stopped reviewing PR games, since the target demographic isn't old enough to search the Internet on their own or care about game reviews.

Its ok with me thought because Im prepairing for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. From what ive read this one will have unlockable arcade games (probly the original ninja turtles 2 and 4 games.) And best of all it will be 4 players the way the first one should have been.

It`s not coming out until November(at least). There`s probably plenty of work on it that still needs to be done. And besides, graphics alone do not make or break a game.
We still have yet to see what the GBA game looks like(although I have a feeling it`s going to be like Ninja Storm)

Still has a lot of PS2-esque "Jaggies" at the edges, almsot PSOne-ish so I hope the GC version is a bit more "polished" when ported but that's usually rthe case -- better graphics board.
The color is a little off, but no biggie, usually is off in screen caps I've seen comapred to a"real" TV, but the game looks pretty good.
As far as PR games suckng the TF and LR GBC and GBA (TF Only) Games were goood WF sucked, NS was a goood attempt until you hit mZ Battles and LR for consoles was just... ugh waste of dis'cs and cartitdges for the N64/PSX versions but then again, this looks only slightly cleaner than LR did.
I hope this plays better than LR did on the N64, more like TMNT as far as the "beeat 'em up[" factor goes.
Also comapring PR Games to TMNT games is a bit one-sided, TMNT is done by Konami, these guys have the best games around usually (Contra anyone?) -- THQ puts out wrestling crap and has bug-riddled games and poorly done games, while I only hope for the ebst, I can expect the worst from THQ as well because of how they do things.
I haven't red up on the DS yet been a little busy altely but I'll be reading up onit tnought, and I knwoits GBA Compatible, now this said GC and PS2 consoles so it had better mean it, not a one console thing, because the last time that was done I got pissed, plenty of peole have both consoles but some only have one so hoopefully it'lll be on bvoth.
As for the Xbox considering they kncoked SOny out of the #1 spot according to the NY Time slast week they may consider it, but it's doubtful, Microsoft has basically stated they want NO "KIDDIE" GAMES ont he XBOX which is basically a good way of saying NO PR Games ever on the XBox, of course they may change thier minds now that they just trounced Sony's sorry arse and are ina cocky "et's release anbything we can" mood.
I hope this is done well thoough, I preefer side-scrolelrs usually but this shoudl eb fairly decwent and I hoope multi-player is a feature, because that's what makkes htis type of game fun.

I have to point out, that this game is intended for children in PR's age demorgraphic. These kids probaly never heard/played/cared for Dynasty Warriors or Robot Alchemic Drive. So there goes that idea.
As said before, the game has to be simple enough for a child to beat.
And when was the last game based on a kids TV franchise had the best graphics?
Be glad we're getting a game on PS2 at all.

Pokemon Colleseum, but that was after many other pkmn games. PR needs to establish itself as something decent first. This game looks decent and I look forward to what SPD will have.[it`s the last year of the THQ contact btw]

Grimm is right though, Dynasty Warriors has the perfect fighting system and R.A.D has the ultimate mecha system ever. The two were made to breed a Ranger game together.
But Tuesday`s point might be that why would they want to use an engine from a game made for older people?
And just thought I`d note that this game isn`t being "made" by THQ, it`s being made by a new company. This group Pacfic Coast Power worked on some BMX and Jet Moto games.
Too may quoted posts for me to read them all.
But two things.
1. When does the game come out again?
2. Are there screen caps yet?

Mesagog masterminds Mesozoic mayhem.
The perennial favorite TV show and toy franchise enters its 12th season with a combination which is sure to be more appealing than ever -- Power Rangers and dinosaurs.
Only three students have any hope of halting mad scientist Mesagog's diabolical plans to send the world back to the age of dinosaurs. Through the power of the Dino Gems, the students transform into the Dino Thunder Power Rangers and gain control of Dino Zords, powerful creatures that are part dinosaur, part machine. Now they must battle Mesagog and Tyrannodrones.
Features
Over 50 different missions and minigames in 10 free-roaming worlds
Control 18 different Zords, including ones from Power Rangers Ninja Storm and Power Rangers Wild Force
Megazord battles with special power-ups as in the show
Bottom Line
Mighty Morphin no more, these Power Rangers will have to summon all their courage to extinguish Mesagog's sinister saurian scheme.

If this is for real, sounds like they're going to give us that Ninja Storm/Wild Force teamup after all... But nowhere near the way we thought they would. Honestly, having Zords from 2 past seasons? Sounds a little hokey to me, but I hope it's true. Especially since it sound like they might actually give us a GOOD PR game for a change.

Aw man! To quote Hunter, "How sick, bro?!"
I tried to access the videos on the site, but they were all deadlinks.
This thing excites me. For TWO reasons:
a.) It has instant messaging capability, and maybe even a word processor. The thing is a laptop. If it could cook, you could maybe marry it. Sex wouldn't be a problem, I'm sure someone could conjure up a plugin for that.
b.) Full-on 3D graphics that are ALMOST up to speed with modern 3D technology. The GBA just didn't wow me. I remember reading an article a few years ago where the prez of Ninny said, "Yes, we'd like to see a handheld N64, but it just isn't practical. But with Moore's Law kicked into high gear like it is these days, I didn't figure it would take Nintendo very long at all to go leaps and bounds beyond the GBA. I was right.
The GBA was basically a 32-bit SNES. It was alright, but not exactly a WOW'er. The NDS truly looks worthy of a lot of hubbub.

I am so totally cyked for this game. I couldn't believe it when I read the info on nintendo.com. It's was a shock. It sounds like it will be an above average game (a GREAT game for Power Rangers standards). The only downside is that the game actually looks to be ONLY Zord Based. While this isn't a BAD thing, I really wanted to play as the rangers as well. Either way, I've been waiting a long time for another console PR game so I would be happy if it was Power Rangers: Hampster Time with Sensi rapping, lol. I was trying to think about the different Zords, I think it will be like this. The best news is that is spans Dino Thunder back to Wild Force. I put together a little mock up of what I think will be included...
Dino Thunder:
-Tyranno
-Tricera
-Ptera
-Draco
-Stego
*Megazords
-Thundersaurus Megazord
-Dino Stegazord
Ninja Storm:
-Lion
-Hawk
-Dolphin
-Insect
-Beetle
*Megazords
-Ninja Megazord
-Thunder Megazord
Wild Force:
-Red Lion
-Black Bison
-Yellow Eagle
-Blue Shark
-White Tiger
-Alligator
-Wolf
-Hammerhead Shark
*Megazords
-Wild Force Megazord
-Predazord
If you look at nintendo's website it said there will be Megazord battles with "Special Power Ups" like in the show. I don't think we will be able to play with the additional zords, but I think we will see them as power ups. For example: If you are playing with the Wild Force Megazord you might get the "Deer Zord" power up or if you are playing with the Dino Stegazord you might get the "Dimetro Zord" power up. Also I think this will work with Ninja Storm's balls. If you are playing with the Ninja Megazord you might get the "Ram Hammer" or if you are playing with the Thunder Megazord you might get the "Turtle Mace" power up. Again, this is all speculation considering that we really have no more confirmation than what is shown on nintendo.com.
Now, that being said, it's not completely out of question that we actually have some Ranger action. With over 50 missions and 10 separate "Free-Roaming" worlds, we may get the best of both worlds. Ever GBA game has showcased the Rangers and the Megazords both so I wouldn't think they would change the whole form just for the Console version, but until we get more into there really is no way of knowing.
Idealy, It would be awesome to be able to choose ONE ranger from each team for a certain level. Say you choose Wild Force and you play as the Lunar Wolf Ranger. When you get into a Zord fight you would just call on, say, the Wolf Zord. Eventually in the mission it would heat up and you could call on your friends and upgrade to Megazord mode. Of, if you choose to go with the Ninja Storm Gang, You could pick the Navy Ranger. He could call on the Beetle zord until things got tough and could upgrade to the Thunder Megazord for the final fight.
The one thing that would make this game rule all would be multi-player. I'm talking two separate, multi-player modes:
The first being a Co-op playing mode for the missions. You (and up to three friends) could choose a ranger. Obviously it would have to be from the same season (due to Megazord capatibility). Say you choose Dino Thunder you could be Red and your friends could be Yellow, Blue, and White. During the Zord modes you could have Tyranno, Tricera, Ptera, and Draco fighting together. Once you upgrade you could have the "Dino Rage Megazord" formation and each person could operate a different attack. Player 1 obviously steering.
The second mode would have to be a hands down battle royal. You could have it in three sections. Ranger-on-Ranger, Zord-on-Zord, and (of course) Megazord-on-Megazord. Pick one of the 10+ worlds to take the fight to your friends, one to four player battle royal.
Ok, like I said before, I'm just so stoked that it's coming to a console, I don't care if it's "Power Rangers: Kira Karoke Sign Along" I will buy it. However, unlike a lot of other people I have very high expectations and think this will be a Power Ranger game to remember. neo

I hope they make zord battles really clunky and stuff.
As the zord battles in Lightspeed Rescue & Time Force sucked, because they moved like humans.
They need to be slow and quite sluggish in places.
Also, I'd like to see sparks fly off the zords when hit.
Damn I hope this game don't get cancelled. I'm probably looking forward to this game more than the WWE games on PS2, XBox & GC.

I think the GBA version will be a more traditional Ranger game...if you can, look for Nintendo`s description of the game on the web and it will say the following:
Play as the Blue,Red,and Yellow Rangers with their own special moves and powers
Granted,it doesn`t say anything about Tommy, but he could always be a hidden character.
BTW,the release date for the game has changed. The console version will be released in September, with the GBA version coming in August.

Nope, its gonna be twenty dollars alright. It's all about the distrubition and licenses. That's the reason why ESPN NFL 2k5 is only going to be 20 dollars when it releases. Dino Thunder isn't going to have alot of developement time, so the cost is going to reflect that. Its the same price for the GC and GBA versions as well.

I know this is a bump but I have some news of a Dino thunder game of a different variety. I was in wal-mart the other day looking at those stand-alone consoles (ie: the joysticks that plug into tv's that have classic games like pac man and atari games) and I saw that there was a PR:DT console that had thundermax sabre/gun as the control and had a remote box. It looks like it will be an arcade gun shooting game like time crisis but here's the kicker. It also has a mode where you can use the sabre and slash the enemies instead of shooting them. it's about 40 bucks but the graphics look great and it just looks really interesting.
Er, not heard anything about this. But if it's true you must buy it now and get lotsa photos as it sounds kick-ass!
