Chapter XII: Burn, Aries!
Lance brought down his blade towards the helmet-less Shiba. Suddenly, his blade was knocked to the ground by an unseen force. Lance turned in anger to see a StarBlade stuck in the ground next to him. He then spun around to see Trent, his hand outstretched. “Why you…” he began, walking towards the other Rangers. Suddenly, a bolt of electricity struck his back. He fell to the ground as Shiba stood above him. Although her helmet had fallen, a large piece of blue metal still remained embedded in her long, brown hair. “Help…me…” she moaned, stumbling forwards. Her eyes suddenly flashed red as she charged forward, an orb of electricity forming in her hand. Brad and Mei jumped out of the way as Trent leapt into the air and over his enemy. He landed on his feet, snatched up his gleaming StarBlade, and charged after his foe. Suddenly, Lance leapt to his feet and grabbed Trent by the shoulders. “Lance, knock it off!” Trent yelled, throwing him off. He ran forward and slashed at Shiba’s back, knocking her to the ground. “FireSpitter!” Kelsey yelled, running forward and charging up her blaster. She let out a stream of fire, burning Shiba’s armor. “Move away!” Sirius yelled from the distance. Trent and Kelsey backed away from Shiba as Sirius pulled back on a golden arrow and let it fly, exploding the metal piece in Shiba’s hair. She fell to the ground, blood rushing from her head. Sirius rushed forward. He turned to see the Orange and Silver Zodiac Rangers slowly approaching. “Trent,” he whispered. “Take Shiba away from here. Without the chip, she will not harm you. She will explain all.” he explained. Trent nodded and grabbed Shiba, throwing her over his shoulder. He then rushed off into the distance.
Shiba awoke laying on the ground, her back propped up by a tree. She brought her hand to her head and felt her long brown hair for the first time in years. She could feel some sort of bandage near the front of her head. It was where the chip had once been. She looked around and got to her feet. “Hi.” Trent’s voice said from behind her. She spun around to see Trent standing behind her. “My name is Trent Johnson.” he said, nervously extending his hand. “My…my name is…Yuri. Yuri Katswono.” Shiba replied. Trent backed up. “But I thought…you were Shiba?” Trent asked. “No.” the girl replied. “Let me explain…”
“When the Kahns…those alien freaks…invaded our city, they…they killed my parents. Then they captured me, and this thing…it was a horrible beast, with a clawed hand…he put this helmet on me, and this chip…it controlled me. He gave me this armor…Kahn armor…and he forced me to help them. He gave me a new mind…a new identity…and forced me to help. And then the Zodiacal Warriors sealed us away…and then we emerged here…and one of you saved me again…and…then I woke up here.” she explained. She stared at Trent’s Zodiac Amulet. “You…you’re one of the warriors, aren’t you?” she asked. “Yes…I am.” Trent replied. “Thank you…thank you so much!” Yuri yelled, embracing him.
Trent tried to persuade Yuri to allow him to return to the battle, but she protested that she needed him there. After a few minutes, Trent began to quickly forget about the others, the battle, and his own responsibilities as a Ranger. After a few hours, Trent and Yuri fell asleep against a tree, Trent’s arms wrapped around his newfound “friend’s” waist.
Trent awoke the next morning to see that Yuri had disappeared. He looked around frantically and began to trudge through the forest. He soon found a small lake near the center of the forest. He looked down at the shining waters as Yuri’s body suddenly emerged from it, her back to him. Trent quietly crept behind a tree, stripped off his shirt, socks, shoes, and jeans, leaving him in the shorts that he wore underneath his clothing for morphing purposes. He ran forward and leapt into the water to join Yuri.
Yuri quickly dove underwater, surprised. “It’s okay!” Trent yelled. As she heard Trent’s voice, Yuri resurfaced and smiled, splashing water at Trent. Trent blinked his eyes and returned fire, splashing Yuri back. The two engaged in this for quite a while before emerging from the water, each going in a different direction to retrive their clothing. They then met in the middle, Trent back in his red shirt and black jeans, and Yuri in heavy orange cloth that covered her chest and her back, with a separate part covering her waist and more private areas. Yuri approached Trent and lowered her head to his. Just as their lips were about to touch, a swarm of small insects appeared in-between them, knocking them back in separate directions. The insects formed into Swarm members, which, in turn, formed into a trio of shield-bearing, sword-swinging Denjis. Yuri and Trent slowly returned to each other’s side, striking fighting poses. “Don’t worry, Yuri.” Trent whispered. “I’ll take care of them.” he added, rushing head-on towards the Denjis.
Trent delivered a roundhouse kick to the chest of one Denji. He then spun around and swung at another, only to have it stopped by its blade. Trent backed up, his hand bleeding, into another Denji, which slashed down with its sword. Trent fell to the ground and rolled away from the blade, tripping the first Denji to the ground. Meanwhile, Yuri ran up from behind the second Denji and knocked it to the ground. She quickly scrambled over and grabbed the Denji’s enormous blade. She struggled to bring the blade over her head and struck, creating an enormous gash in the silver warrior’s back. She was then knocked to the ground by a powerful kick from the third Denji. “Yuri!” Trent yelled, spinning to face her. In his confusion, he was knocked to the ground next to her by the first Denji, which had gotten to its feet. The three Denjis forced Trent and Yuri to scramble back into a corner. “That’s it!” Trent screamed, getting to his feet. Fire began to form at his feet as his amulet lifted into the air. His familiar suit began to form on his body, but it was not the same as it had once been. It was a much deeper red, almost the color of blood. Silver armor extended from his shoulders, and a blade appeared on each wrist. His weapon formed itself into a double-sided lance, its silver tips specked with blood. His helmet was covered in silver features, his visor jagged at the corners. A large, golden design covered his white-colored chest. He stood, ready to battle, and ready to defend.
Meanwhile, Lance was strapped against a wall in a warehouse. Sai and Rick were laying in a corner, their arms tied behind them as Mei, Kelsey, Sirius, and Brad stood above them. “What are we going to do about Lance?” Mei asked. “We will have to enlist the help of the Leo Ranger.” Sirius calmly replied. “What? There are more of us?” Brad exclaimed, quickly spinning around to face Sirius. “Yes.” Sirius replied. “When Kelsey unleashed the powers of Orion, she also awakened more of the Zodiacal Powers, including that of the Leo Ranger. Now we must find the person who has discovered the powers and get them to help and release Lance from the Fury Ranger energy.” Sirius answered. “Wait, Fury Ranger? What is that?” Kelsey asked, joining the conversation. “The Fury Ranger Mode is what occurs instead of a normal Zodiacal Ranger when someone morphs with a large amount of fury in their heart. The same can hold true for the Honor Ranger form, which occurs when a human morphs with a great sense of honor and protection in his heart.” Sirius explained. As he and the other two Rangers talked about how to find the new Ranger, Kelsey stood away, staring out the window. “I hope Trent is alright.” she said to herself.
Meanwhile, Trent stood, his blood-stained Lance ready, staring at the three Denjis. Yuri stared in surprise at his powerful new costume. “Don’t worry, Yuri.” he whispered. He then ran forward. He held out his lance horizontally in front of him as he ran. When each blade touched a Denji, they fell to the ground as blood began flowing from the small wound the blade had made. The third Denji blocked the attack with its shield, but Trent used his lance to knock it to the ground. He then stood perfectly still as flames shot from his lance, forming three flaming falcons. Each latched onto its own Denji and flew out into the sky. Yuri then ran up to Trent and grabbed a hold of him. His suit melted away slowly, revealing him in his morphing shorts. He held her tight, her head resting against his chest. Suddenly, the ground began to shake. A skyscraper-sized Denji then appeared from the sky. Yuri jumped back and screamed as Trent quickly morphed into the new suit once again. He then raised his hand into the air, clutching his amulet, and screamed “Aries Zord, Arise!” as the majestic falcon descended from the heavens. Trent leapt onto its back, installed the StarBlade, and slid into the cockpit, where he re-installed the key-like blade. The falcon soared into the air and then let out a barrage of flaming bullets from its wingtips, but the Denji deflected them with its shield, sending them back at the zord. The Aries Zord came crashing to the earth as Trent’s StarBlade was knocked loose. When the zord hit, Trent quickly scrambled out to join Yuri, who was sitting on the ground, drawing a group of star-like points in the ground. “Pegasus.” she whispered. Suddenly, the sand drawing came to life. A majestic winged bird emerged from it, almost half the size as the Denji. In then turned entirely mechanical, red armor on each side of its body, as a helmet on the head, and on its tail. Trent then took Yuri’s cue and jumped into the air and into the cockpit of the new zord, quickly installing his StarBlade. The winged horse’s eyes glowed green and its wings flapped as it snarled. “Pegasus Zord!” Trent yelled. The ground then began to shake once more. Trent looked into the distance to see the Taurus Zord and the Aquarius Zord charging forward. The Cancer Zord followed, now with strange gold armor on it. “It’s Sirius!” Mei yelled, her voice coming through Trent’s headset. “He stole Lance’s StarBlade!” Brad added. The three zords then stopped short. “What happened to your zord?” Brad asked. “No time for that now!” Trent replied. “It’s Megazord time!” he yelled to all Rangers. Each Ranger placed their hand on their lever. “Engage Megazord Sequence!” they all yelled in unison.
Seatbelts formed over each Ranger as the zords began to move on their own. The Cancer zord sped forward and began to stand upright as it separated in half. A small slot opened up on each half and revealed solid black feet, which flew into the air and attached to the bottoms of each half. The Taurus Zord flipped onto its back, revealing a golden “v”-shaped design in the middle and a large, translucent gold stripe going across the chest as its legs and tail receded into its body. A dark green arm that matched the main color of the zord slid out from a compartment on the right, near the top, as did a silver piece of armor that covered the shoulder. The Taurus zord then leapt into the air and attached to the top of the two halves of the Cancer Zord. The Aquarius zord then leapt into the air and the head slid inside of the body as the tail and fins became silver and still, almost like spikes, as the zord’s underbelly attached to a connector rod on the side of the Taurus zord. It was exactly the same size as the other arm. The Pegasus zord then flew into the air, its wings separating and attaching to the back of the Taurus Zord. The Pegasus zord’s legs then slid into its body. It then flew into the air and two jet-black fists emerged from its mouth and attached onto the bottoms of each arm. The body then slid onto the right fist of the zord. The head of the Taurus zord then slid inside of the body as the head of the Pegasus zord flew into the air and attached where the Taurus head once was. The mouth opened wide and a face slid down from the top half of the head. It had glowing green eyes and a mouth full of artificial teeth. The head itself was silver. A black hole them appeared on the end of the Pegasus Cannon. The zord then flexed it fingers as all four of the Rangers’ leather-like seats slid on a track into the translucent gold stripe on the chest, where they sat, left to right: Brad, Mei, Trent, and Sirius. Control panels came to life in front of each Ranger, which consisted of one joystick with a colored button on the top, a panel of numbered buttons from zero to ten, and a panel of buttons with different designs engraved in them. The Megazord then spoke. “I am Grandus, the Mystical Warrior of Time. I have been called upon to protect this planet. Now I will defeat you!” the Megazord screamed, rushing forward. It delivered a punch to the Denji’s chest, which knocked it back. The Megazord then backed up, held out the Pegasus Cannon, and placed the left fist over it. As Grandus fed the Rangers information, they pressed a sequence of buttons. “PEGASUS CANNON, FIRE!” they yelled in unison with Grandus. An enormous black of multicolored energy shot from the cannon, blowing the Denji to metal pieces that disappeared upon hitting the ground. The Rangers then began traveling down the track to the Grandus’ foot, where they emerged and demorphed. “Now I will leave you, Warriors.” Grandus said, separating and disappearing. Yuri then ran forward and latched onto Trent, who returned the grip. Trent then introduced Yuri to the Rangers and vice-versa. The other Rangers then explained to Trent and Yuri what had happened, and Trent and Yuri explained their little adventure. Meanwhile, Kelsey stood in the back, staring at Trent and Yuri with a defiant glance.
