I apologize for this coming off sounding like BeTheSwallow's "Legacy" but I DID start writing it before he posted his. I do use my own ideas unfortunately it's just bad timing. I tried to get his permission but got tired of waiting so my deepest apologies BeTheSwallow. If it's any consolation, mine will never hold a candle to yours. Mine won't have people in tears when they read it.

It's around 11:30 A.M. on the fourth of Spetember twothousand four, Tommy's thirty first birthday. He and Tasha are out celebrating by having lunch together before meeting the others to celebrate together. Tommy had mentioned having chest pain yet they ignored it. Then just as they were making to leave, Tommy collapsed in the parking lot.

Immediately Tasha rushed him to the Reefside General Hospital where she worked. After multiple attempts at revival, they had managed to save him. Just then the other three arrived at the hospital. "Is he alright?" Kira asked worriedly. "It's too early to tell. You may go see him. Right this way." Tasha then proceeded to lead them back to Tommy's room.

"Dr.O. ..." said Kira cautiously. "Hi guys." the once mighty Dr. Tommy Oliver now greeted them weakly from his hosptial bed, having just barely the strenght to even move. "How are you feeling?" Tasha asked. "Mainly weak." Tommy replied. "Well that's to be expected." Tasha told him an 'unfortunately' yet comforting tone of voice.

"Yeah, I know." Tommy weakly agreed. "It must stink to have to be in the hospital on your birthday." Conner remarked. "Yeah sorta. It's not so bad since I'm in Tasha's care." Tommy added. This remark made Tasha blush ever so slightly.

"Well Tommy, you'll be stuck here overnight." Tasha told him in the same 'comforting yet unfortunately' tone of voice. "Oh well. I guess that's life." Tommy reluctantly agreed. "Well you three better let Tommy get some rest." Tasha told the three teenagers, gesturing them toward the door. "See ya Dr. Oliver..." they said walking out the door. Little did they know that that would be the last time they would see their mentor yet in more ways then one close friend...alive anyway.

A few hours later Tasha was visiting Tommy one last time before going to bed. While she was there, Tommy flatlined. This time all their revival attepmts would be in vain. Tommy Oliver, the one true ranger legacy, was dead. The legacy that was Dr. Thomas Oliver had now come to an abrupt end.

Tasha broke the news to the others the next day. They all took it pretty hard."I can't believe he's gone. He was so young." Kira responded in disbelief. "The good die young." Tasha added. "Then Dr.Oliver must have been really good as young as he died." Ethan commented.

"You three don't have to be at the reading of the will. Not if you don't want to." Tasha told them with an audible tone of understanding in her voice. "Were we invited?" asked Conner. "Yes." replied Tasha.

"Then we're going. It would be wrong not to." Kira interjected. Tasha smiled and told her "Tommy would be proud of your principles." A few days later at the ceremony Tasha read the eulogy of a legend."I guess it's true what they say. The good die young. Well if that holds true for this case, Tommy must have been better than any of us ever thought..." Tasha began and paused as her voice began to break.

Then she continued, "Tommy was all about self sacrifice. He never even thought twice about laying down his life to save those of the entire universe. Or even if you were trapped in a dark alley and somebody charged at you with a knife; even if Tommy didn't know you, he would still take the hit for you. That's just the kinda guy he was. If anyone anywhere needed help, he would be there with bells on. He would never even think twice about whether he came out alive or dead. All he cared about was that the world was safe. As long as that was assured, he didn't care what happened to him. That I believe was his greatest characteristic..." After she finished the eulogy, Tasha placed the Dragon Dagger in Tommy's hand.

Then after the ceremony had ended and the crowd of every ranger, past and present had disapated, Tasha and the others headed over to the reading of the will. There, a stranger in a black suit sat at one end of a medium length wooden table, held in his hand the last will and testament of Tommy Oliver. He read aloud, "I, Tommy Oliver, being of sound mind and body, do hereby bequeath half of my estate to the greatest ranger of all time, my wife, Tasha Rhianne Oliver..." Dammit Tommy. We all know who the greatest ranger of all time is. It's you. It always was you and will always will be you. thought Tasha. "...the remainder of my estate is to be divided up eqaully among Conner McKnight, Kira Ford, and Ethan James. The three most promising rangers I have ever seen. That's it. That's the end of the will." concluded the stranger. After the reading was over Tasha drove the other three home. The entire drive was filled with a solemn silence. A silence only to be broken by the music on the radio.

When Tasha got home, she sat down in Tommy's favorite easy chair and just had a good cry. Finally she was able to compose herself enough to get a bite to eat since she hadn't had much to eat that day. Then after eating she headed to the gym to train since training would take her mind off of her misery. While she was there, Kira showed up.

"Hey Tasha!" Kira greeted her. "Hey." replied Tasha distractedly as though lost in deep thought. "Alright, what's the matter?" Kira asked sensing that something was bothering her even more than Tommy's death. "Let's see, my husband's life hung in the balance and I allowed him to die on his birthday. Other than that, everything's just peachy!" she snapped. "Tasha, you did everything you could do to help Dr. Oliver." Kira said as though she wished she could offer Tasha more comfort.

"Then why do I feel so guilty?" asked Tasha. "Because you feel like it's yourfault since he was in your care." Kira gently explained. "Will it ever go away?" Tasha asked. "It'll get easier." Kira offered. "I'm sure you're right." Tasha had finally come to her senses.

"In the meantime, try to go easy on yourself." Kira told her. "You're right, Kira. Thanks I needed to hear that." Tasha said realizing now that Tommy's death was not her fault. "Tommy would want us to just pick up the pieces and move on with our lives." Tasha said. "Yeah. He would." Kira agreed. "But now we have a new problem." Kira just realized. "What's that?" asked Tasha. "Well now we need somebody to take Dr. O.'s palce as a ranger." Kira continued. "I've got that covered." Tasha assured her. "Who do you have in mind?" Kira asked. "You'll see." Tasha replied.

Back at the lab, Tasha gathered everybody together for what would be , in her opinion a momentous occasion; the replacing of a legacy. "Come on in." Tasha called to what appeared to the others to be dead air. "Hello Tasha." Before them stood a 6' tall man in a blue t-shirt and jeans. "You guys, this is Billy. Billy, this is Conner McKnight, Kira Ford, and Ethan James. Billy will be replacing Tommy as the Dino Thunder Black Ranger. I know it's not the same but we need a new ranger." Tasha introduced the stranger to the new 'gang'. "I know. I guess we all just really miss Dr. Oliver." Kira admitted speaking for the entire group. "I know. Nobody will ever truly take Tommy's plac, but we need a replacement, you know that." Tasha said.

"Affirmitive. I don't expect to take his place in your lives. I only hope that I can take his place as a ranger which will be hard enough considering the kind of ranger Tommy was. Just then Bill saw the green candle which burned in memory the legacy. "What's with the candle?" asked Billy. "That's the memorial we built for Dr. Oliver, why?" explained Ethan. "You don't know what a green candle would have meant to Tommy." Billy told them. "What's that?" asked Kira. "Back when Tommy was the green ranger, Rita's green candle stole Tommy's powers away from him." Billy continued, flashing back to all the good times he had with Tommy.

"We had no idea!" exclaimed Conner. "What are we gonna do? We don't wanna just forget about him. He meant a lot to us. He, in a lotta ways, was like a father to all three of us." Kira told him. "I've got an idea." Billy went over to the tiny wooden table which held the burning candle. He then replaced it with Tommy's Dragonzord Powercoin, his Zeo morphers, his turbo morpher, and last but certainly not least, a black candle to burn on in respectful memory of the ranger legacy. That's better. Billy thought to himself. Now everyone was happy; both with the new leader of the Dino Thunder team, and the new memorial to the old leader.
I'm sorry (like I said) if this sounds like I plagiarised "Legacy". I tried to wait for permission but I just couldn't resist I just felt this story just had to get out. I apologize for looking like a fraud.
