The light was pure, cleansing. Peaceful.
The shadow and it's companion had watched over the corporial plain for an eternity and a day.
They were watching.
Watching for the sign that would indicate the destruction of the universe.
One Earth year ago, one of their own had been sent to assemble an army to stop a mediocre threat. It had been a test to see if they were capable of working together.
They had passed.
"Are they ready?"
The first shadow watched it's companion approach. "No. it said, "But they will be."
"Be sure the are, my friend. For the wheels of time are already in motion. The countdown has begun."
"The countdown to the end of the world has been running since the world was created."
"Maybe. But this is not the way the events were supposed to be. An un-natural force has tampered with the history of the future."
Again that question rang.
"Are they ready?"
"Yes, Zeo Green. They are."
He had thought his days as a ranger were long gone.
A part of his past, gone forever.
He had been wrong.
But what he was doing now was even more scary. He almost wished he had swapped places with Carlos.
Ever since the call from someone who claimed to be from the future, they had been on edge. The man, calling himself 'Trip' had claimed that a period of impending darkness was coming.
And they would need help.
They stood before him, expecting. Demanding.
The Zeo Powers were strong, but they were stronger.
No way out. He was surrounded.
He had to face his fear.
"Hi kids."
Adam Park had tought martial arts for most of his adult life, but this was different. In his ranger form, whatever form that may be, he had been seen as a hero. He had never been able to completley accept that, often giving credit to his team mates than taking it himself.
He had been asked to give a speech on how the powers worked. He demonstrated how to summon his zeoniser and showed the kids the activation procedure.
"Can you call your zord?" one young girl asked.
Zeo Green shook his head. Super Zeo Zord Four had been severley damaged during their battle with Goldzara and the Cyclopsis Megazord a year previously. Zeo Zord four, The bull, had been inactive since the change to the Turbo powers in 1997. Richard, as good a mechanic as he was, had his work cut out repairing the fleet of damaged zords.
"Where are the rest of the Zeo Rangers?"
"Busy."
"Where is the Green morphin ranger?"
The other question he had been dreading. He willed his communicator to beep. To hear Zordon's or one or one of the other rangers' voices coming through.
Spike Harrison felt reasonably proud of himself. He and RJ Jackson had spent the last year creating an Underground Command Unit.
"Looks a lot like the Carrier zord." The Green Sonic Ranger commented as they finished their final systems check.
"The what?" Spike asked.
"Back in the day, the carrier was the base of ops for the sonic rangers."
Spike nodded and glanced down at his watch. "Hey, weren't you supposed to get Adam out of that presentation fifteen minutes ago."
RJ turned his attention to a nearby console. "Yes."
"Why didn't you?"
"Spike. I had to give six solid days of talks to kids after last time. Is it really fair of me to stop Adam from having that same pleasure?"
Spike smiled as he turned to another console. "He's going to kill you."
He activated his console. "Command Unit to Hangar Bay, come in!"
Richard Muller had been working on repairing the damaged zords for the last year. Super Zeo Zord four had been giving him the most problems. He had to completley canibalise the power systemsand re-route them through the auxillary intake conduits.
"Command Unit to Hangar Bay, come in!"
He sprang up, banging his head off of the roof of the Gamma zord's cockpit.
How the hell does Gary manage to pilot this thing? he thought as he activated the communications.
"Hangar Bay, receiving."
"How's it coming?"
Rich checked the zord systems. "Adam's hunk-of-tin is giving me hell. I'm going to need him down here. Where is he anyway?"
Spike glanced over at RJ, an evil smirk on his face. "He's having the time of his life."
Carlos stepped out of his car. News had reported rangers fighting in this area. So far, he had yet to see anything. He walked over to the cafe on the corner and went to the counter.
"Can I get a coffee? Black, no sugar."
The young girl behind the counter nodded and rang up the sale. She smiled as she took his money and handed his cup over.
"Thanks." Carlos said and left.
He walked back to his car and was about to get back in when he looked up and saw something he had hoped he would never see again.
Quantrons.
He opened the glove compartment to reveal his two choices.
His green turbo moprher and his black astro morpher.
He chose the latter, knowing his turbo powers had not yet fully stabalised.
"Let's Rocket!" he yelled, flipping open the morpher, keying in 3-3-5-ENTER.
***
The Black Space Ranger tore into the oncoming crowd of Quantrons, but even they were too much for him. Drawing his Lunar Lance had given him some kind of respite, but not for long.
Help arrived in the form of another Ranger, female, he guessed, but wearing a green uniform. Her fighting style was very aggressive as she butchered the robotic forces with her twin swords.
He could feel the powers waning after being inactive for so long. "Time for plan B."
The green ranger turned to see the mysterious black figure draw out a key. "Shift into turbo!"
It transformed from black to green in the blink of an eye, firing a very powerful looking cannon.
The cannon managed to finish off what had been left of the Quantrons.
Carlos approached the figure who had probably saved his life.
"I thought this was all over."
Definately a girl, Carlos smirked to himself. "So did I, once. I found out the hard way."
She turned to him. "You turned from black to green. How?"
"I hold two powers. Black Astro and Green Turbo."
"Why are you here?"
"I think I was looking for you."
