MASKED RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT
Chapter I- The Dragon & the Bat
“Shinji!” a woman yelled from behind a desk. She was wearing a formal business suit. She had long brown hair tied in a bun and dark hazel eyes. “What is it, Erika?” a man asked, coming up the stairs. He was wearing a dark blue sweater and blue jeans. He had brown hair to his neck, and had dark blue eyes. “I need you to do me a favor. There’s a house on Bedmont Road that I want you to investigate. The owner, Koji Sakibra, disappeared a few days ago. I want you to just do a quick check of the inside of the house, nothing major, apprentice.” the woman, Erika, explained. “Alright…” the man, Shinji, replied. He turned around and ran back down the staircase and out the door of the building, which read “THE DAILY RECORD NEWS OFFICES.”
On Bedmont Road, a man rode through the streets on a black and silver motorcycle. He was wearing a black trench coat and a black helmet. As he rode into an alleyway, he parked his bike against the wall and went on foot. A small spider ran past his foot, and he attempted to step on it, but to no avail.
Shinji raced through the streets on a motorcycle, without an helmet. As he near Bedmont road, he stopped his bike and ran inside. He looked around the dark house, and soon noticed something odd. “There’s so much newspaper…..” he muttered. And, indeed, there was. There was newspaper taped to the T.V., the pictures on the wall, the computer screen, and all of the mirrors. Walking around, his foot soon brushed across a black metal box. He picked it up and opened it to see that it was full of cards. He picked one of them up and set the box down. This particular card had a funnel-shaped purple and blue design as well as the word “SEAL” on the top. He then looked at the window/doors leading to the balcony . As he stared at it, he saw a red ripple. He ran over to it, but the ripple quickly disappeared. Shinji then ran forward and out onto the balcony. He then ran down fire escape to the street, where Erika’s car was pulling up.
The man from the alleyway runs up behind Erika’s car after she gets out, followed by another woman, clad in a white lab jacket. The man has now removed his helmet, revealing black sunglasses and short, spiked black hair. “Something is coming.” the man says. He pulls out of his pocket a card similar to the one Shinji had found, with a silver bat design on the back.
Shinji ran up to the car, only to find the two people behind it. “Who are you?” he asked. Something then caught his eye in the car’s rear-view mirror. It was a large yellow spider, but only the reflection. As hard as he looked, he could not find the spider outside of the mirror. He then turns his attention to the man, seeing his card. He then feels the box of cards that he had shoved into his pocket inside. “He can see it.” the woman whispered to the man. The woman walked up to him as he brought the box from his pocket. “Are you a Masked Rider?” she asked, staring into his eyes. He then turned to see Erika, then back to see an evil look in the man’s eye. “Run, Erika!” Shinji tried to yell, turning around. But before his mouth could form the word “Run”, he was sucked into the rear-view mirror.
Shinji fell threw the air, shattered mirrors all around him. “AHHH!” he screamed, looking at his thousands upon thousands of reflections. As he fell, his outfit began to change. He became clad in dark armor, eyeholes red behind a mask, his body clad in dark blue cloth under the armor. He then landed, directly on top of the car next to Erika’s car. He got off, unharmed, and began admiring his new outfits. “Wow….” he gasped, looking at his suit. “I’ve got to be dreaming.” he then muttered, looking forward. Erika, the man, and the woman were gone. In their place was a giant yellow spider, baring its fangs. It jumped forward.
Meanwhile, the man and woman watched this in the reflection of Erika’s car. They watched as Shinji ran from the beast, not knowing what was happened. The man then ran forward and, taking a quick glance around, held out the side of the card with a bat on it to the car. A large black belt appeared on his reflection’s wait, and an identical one appeared on his. He then placed his set of cards into a slot on the belt. “HENSHIN!” he yelled. Armor then began to appear on his own body. It was much more extravagant then Shinji’s, and was silver, black, and gold. He then placed his hand through the car’s reflective surface. A large bike appeared in-between the car and the “real” world. He jat on it and drove through the car’s surface.
The spider knocked Shinji over and to the ground. It prepared to leap on to him when the man on the bike rammed it. The rider got off of it and stood between Shinji, who had gotten to his feet, and the spider-beast. “Who are you?” Shinji asked from behind him. “Don’t worry. But as for you, I’m surprised you have not contracted a monster yet.” the armored man replied. “GREAT WING!” the man yelled as a giant bat flew down to him. He then pressed a button on his arm, showing a small holster. He put a card from his belt into the slot on the holster. A mechanical voice said “Sword Vent.” and the giant bat flew over the man, dropping a black lance into his hand. Behind him, Shinji stared in confusion. The armored man then ran at the spider, knocking him back with the short lance.
Shinji pressed a button on his own armor. A holster appeared, and he then reached for a card from his belt, where his cards had mysteriously appeared. He slid it into the holster. “Sword Vent” a mechanical voice said. A plain, short, unadorned sword fell from the sky and into the ground. Shinji pulled it out. “I don’t know what’s happening, but…..I’m going to help!” he yelled, running forwards.
The giant spider raised its leg and caught the other man in mid-jump, sending him flying. He spun around in mid-air and landed perfectly on his feet. Shinji then ran past him. “Stop, you fool!” the man yelled. Shinji ran forward and slashed his sword at the spider. It broke in two, and he was sent flying. He hit a wall and fell to the ground. “Fool.” the man grumbled. He the slid another card into the holster. “Advent.” the mechanical voice stated. The giant bat flew forward at the spider, tearing off a leg. As it returned, its companion inserted yet another card. “Final Vent” the voice declared. The great bat flew onto the man, creating a black cape. The man then jumped over the spider, hiding himself in his cape and spinning, creating the illusion of a drill. He drilled into the spider, causing it to explode into a ring of fire. The armored man lands back on the ground near Shinji. “Who are you? Where are we? What was that? How did we get this armor?” Shinji started yelling. The two then heard a growl from above them. “Shit.” the mysterious man said. A giant red dragon then flew into view above them, shooting fireballs from the sky. “A dragon!” Shinji exclaimed. He turned to see the other man, but he had already took off running. Shinji followed, yelling even more questions. The man stopped and turned around. “Shut up!” he screamed. A fireball then hurled from the sky and hit the two armor-clad men, sending them flying into the air.
Shinji landed next to a building, as did the other man. The black-clad man began to insert another card into this slot, but his wrist began to fizzle, as did Shinji’s. “Damn it! We have to leave!” he yelled. He started running again, and Shinji followed. “How do we leave?” he yelled. “You have to go back the way you came!” the other man yelled, diving through a window and disappearing. Shinji jumped for the window, only to crash through it and land inside a building. He took off running as the dragon demolished the wall he had just come through with a fireball. “I don’t know where I came in!” he yelled, running out of the building and into a parking lot. He then dove at a car as the dragon shot a fireball at him. The car exploded into flames.
Shinji hit the pavement rolling. The man and woman who were watching him ran over. The man leaned against Erika’s car, irritated, and the woman tried to help Shinji, who was without the armor, up. “Who are…” he began, but lost his battle with consciousness and passed out.
Shinji woke up on a couch. Someone had draped a blanket over him. He got up and walked around. He was in some sort of café. He walked out into the main room of the café to see the woman and the man sitting down. He sat down next to them. “Where am I?” he asked. “It’s okay.” the woman replied. “You’re in the real world now.” she continued. This was the first time Shinji got a good look at her. She had short red hair, white skin, light green eyes, and was wearing a orange sweater and blue shorts. “I’m Yui Barbri.” she continued. She then saw Shinji looking a the deck of cards he had acquired, no longer in the box. “Where did you get those?” Yui asked him. “I….found them at the house of a man who had disappeared. His name was Koji Sakibra.” Shinji replied. “So Shiro didn’t give it to him.” the man mumbled to the woman. Shinji recognized his voice. “You! You’re that guy with the bat-thing!” he exclaimed. “Yes. I am Masked Rider Knight.” the man replied. “Wait, what? This doesn’t make any sense!” Shinji yelled. “It’s the card deck’s fault.” Yui replied. “People who have those decks can see things.” Yui says quietly. “What things?” Shinji asked. “Monsters in the mirror world.” she replied. “Wait a minute, you expect me to believe all this?” Shinji exclaimed. The man known as Knight slammed his cup of coffee down on the table. “You’ve just seen it and you still don’t believe? Dumbass.” he exclaimed, irritated. He gripped the deck and pried it from Shinji’s hand. He set it on the table. “Leave it and go.” Knight told him. “Ren!” Yui screamed at Knight, whose real name was Ren. “He’s been targeted by the monster! It will kill him!” Yui yelled. “I’ll take care of it.” Ren replied. “Shinji, listen…….” Yui began, but when she turned, Shinji was gone.
“I’ll find him.” Ren yelled, walking out of the Café. After he left, Shinji returned. “Finally, he left.” he said, sitting down. “So, by monster, you mean the dragon?” he asked Yui. “Yes.” she replied. “Well, what do these monsters do?” Shinji asked. “To be blunt, they……they….they eat people.” she replied. “They eat everyone that they target.” she finished. “You mean…all those people who disappeared?” Shinji asked. She lowered her head in reply. “And….me too?” he gulped. She nodded. They walked to the door. Yui shook Shinji’s hand and slipped him the “Seal” card. “Take care.” she whispered. Shinji walked out the door.
Meanwhile, in another house across town, a woman stepped out of the shower. She looked in her mirror and saw a small ripple. She shrugged it off and relaxed. Suddenly, webbing began to shoot from the mirror. When the whole room was filled with webbing, two long legs reached out of the mirror and grabbed the naked woman, dragging her in.
