The Yoroi
Part 1: Awakening
Brian Masters sat in the quiet of the old battlefield. It had been the site of his final victory so many years ago. His armor and weapons had long since gone, but this was the place where Brian had fought. Now at the age of ninety-nine, his children carried on the fight for him, waging the war against the Council of Light.
But in the year 2003, the war was his to fight...
It was cold. The first thought through Brian's head as he fell to the ground shocked him, mystified him. The ground, where his blood had dripped, was cold. He must have still been reeling from the punch.
His attacker stood in front of his fallen form, proudly showing his bloodied hand to the crowd. Brian's nose bled like a fountain. His hand felt something. Something cold. He turned to the spot where his blood had pooled.
He picked it up, the charm that had drawn him, the silver pendant, it's blood ruby, its gunmetal chain. It glowed with unholy power, Brian should have known not to touch it, but he did. It signaled to him, tasting his blood. Brian was the Chosen, the Dark Son. It changed him.
The crowd pulled backward, his attacker was thrown by the plume of blue flame as the armored figure rose. The seemingly biological weapon he wore shocked them all. Its inky blackness called to them, the many lines of silver and studs of sapphire called to them. Brian looked at his hands in shock, in wonderment, in awe, but mostly...in fear.
The sins of his ancestors had come to him. This Yoroi was his curse now.
The crowd ran from Brian's armored form, the rumors and lies at school would commence almost immediately after...
-------------
Brian's sleep was restless, all he saw in his nightmares were the forms. Hell-borne messengers. The Dark Ones. They were leading him on his path, making him their soldier. He rebelled, they were not pleased, his punishment would begin soon. Lilith had awoken.
-------------
She awoke in flame, the Council of Light had called her. Shrieking out from the darkness, Lilith came. She brought her soldiers as well, demonspawn. Dark Children.
She extended the tentacles of her mind, latching onto the man. She called Ezekiel, her greatest soldier, and the other Chosen, though he did not know of his path yet.
Her palace of skulls rose from the ocean. Her very presence called it, it lit the torches, it called the hellspawn, it started the war.
---------------
Brian sat in class, waiting for its end. From the door, the class heard a knock, a call from someone. The man walked into the class and turned to Brian, then to the teacher, he explained his purpose and tok Brian from the class. The man's name was Rickard Smithe, he was going to show Brian his true destiny.
Brian walked with Smithe, looking at the seven-foot-tall giant. Smithe spoke in a light British accent. "So Brian, how's the armor thing going for you?"
"A little wierd, plus the whole 'We're not your real parents' chat was fun this morning."
"Sorry about the unpleasant deception there Brian, but it had to be done, if you knew your true parents..."
"I'd be as evil as them..."
"The Yoroi of Darkness does that, God, I wish we could have gotten to you sooner..."
"So do I Rickard...so do I."
------------------
The car ride was long and uneventful. Brian was feeling anxious, he was worried about his new path. The path opposite of the one he was supposed to take. The path that would clear the Masters name.
"Brian, the other members of the Council want to see you."
The room was stark and strangely decorated, everything was white, but so white that the room seemed to blend into itself. Brian's black clothes were a sharp contrast.
Rickard walked back into the room. "It's a bloody shame. The others are away...of course. Well, that gives me the chance to tell you about us."
"You guys are the Council of Light, enemy of the Dark Yoroi."
"Heavens no, we're the goodguys here Brian..."
"But you are the Council of Light."
"Yes, of course."
"You are against my family's name, why would you want me here?" Brian tensed up and slowly slipped the pendant from his pocket.
"You think that I want to kill you? Oh, dear have I mislead you that poorly? No Brian, we;re the goodguys, so are you."
"But in my dream...they told me that you would hurt me..."
"The Dark Ones? Oh please, we know that you went against them, that is why you are here. You're not a killer Brian. They want you to be a killer. We want you to be a hero. A Champion."
"Well, that one peaks my interest..."
"Well it's quite simple really..." Rickard's attempt at a longwinded speech was foiled by his cell phone. Brian already knew what was going on.
The young man's mind focused on the school, he saw it, burnt and bleeding from within, Dark Ones had infested the placeof learning, spawning from the fears of the students and teachers there. Brian concentrated and was standing there. He asaw the turned heads of the students. He saw the bleeding eyes of the teachers. He saw the hateful grimaces of the Dark Ones.
He saw it all through his visor. The visor of the Dark Yoroi. The next thing he saw was his sword tearing through one of the Dark Ones, then he saw the swarm, aiming for their new target, him."
NEXT: Brian fights for his life as Lilith's army becomes a reality. And just who is Ezekiel...
All will be revealed..."Part 2: First Blood"
