Prologue
The planet Drilax IV
Andros was running for his life across a barren desert world on the outskirts of the galaxy.
His pursuers were a group of distorted creatures made of exposed orange muscle and armor plating of black bone. He had no idea what they were called. No idea where they came from. He only knew that they were nearly impossible to destroy.
The ranger made it to the edge of a cliff that looked down upon a deep dark chasm below.
He turned towards the approaching soldiers as he readied the black rectangular shaped Digitizer he wore on his left wrist.
“Let’s rocket!” he shouted as he input the code 3-3-5-enter into the morpher. Red energy danced around his body as he morphed into his Ranger form of Astro Red.
The Ranger pulled out his sidearm and aimed forward at the ground below.
“Astro Blaster!” he shouted as he fired lances of blue energy that exploded across the ground in front of the soldiers, kicking up dirt and dust as he turned to the edge of the cliff.
“Galaxy Glider, hang ten!” he shouted as he flipped forward and landed on his sled-shaped hover-board. He leaned forward as the Galaxy Glider shot forward over the chasm, but his troubles were far from over.
The creatures sprouted wings of flesh and black bone as they leapt from the cliff and soared after the Ranger.
Astro Red looked over his shoulder as he eyed the approaching villains. “What are those things?”
He poured on the speed, but the creatures closed in with blinding speed as they extended their fists forward, blades of bone springing outward from the tops of their hands.
“I can’t out maneuver them like this,” Astro Red said as a trio of the creatures grew even closer.
He flipped backwards off of his board as the soldiers flew by underneath him. Astro Red activated a brace worn on his right wrist as he pressed down on its ‘3’ key.
“Red Battleized Ranger!” he shouted as red lightning surrounded his body. His body armor bulked as a pair of metallic wings grew from his back and gauntlets of weapons appeared over his wrists.
Astro Red fired a salvo of missiles from behind the creatures before they could alter their course. After firing the missiles, he climbed and arced backwards, jetting away from the villains.
The missiles exploded and ripped through some of the soldier’s wings as their bodies plummeted towards the ground. The remaining creatures rolled to the left as they turned and flew after Astro Red with powerful swoops from their wings.
Astro Red activated his emergency and auxiliary thrusters as he broke the sound barrier, creating a thunderous boom.
The creatures dashed forward in flashes of light and were on top of the Ranger in less than a second. Astro Red struggled to maintain control as the creatures started ripping the armor apart from his wings. He climbed and banked as he flew over the barren surface, struggling desperately to remove the creatures from his armor.
A quartet of the creatures ripped one of the wings free as Astro Red spun out of control and slammed against the ground, sliding forward as his body was thrown about and a cloud of dust left in his wake.

Mariner Bay, California
Carter smashed through the front doors of a hotel building and dashed through a giant wall of fire as his Ranger suit insulated him from the heat. He made his way towards the elevator shaft and activated his helmet communicator to open up a comm line with the other Rangers. “This is Carter, I’m going in.”
Rescue Red activated his Rescue Blaster in Baton mode and used it to slice the elevator doors open.
He hopped into the shaft and threw his rope up twenty floors, to where it latched onto the stuck elevator.
He climbed as fast as he could, and when he was halfway there, he heard Chad speak over the comm link. “Carter, I’ve rescued the civilians from the East shaft, but there’s no way for me to get them back down to the ground level.”
“Then you’ll have to take them up,” Rescue Red said as he continued to climb. “Joel, do you read me?”
“Loud and clear, fearless leader,” Rescue Green answered as he piloted the Aero Rescuezord around the building. He had used his Zord to rescue any civilians that were accessible from outside windows.
“Meet Chad on the roof. He has injured with him, so hurry,” Rescue Red said.
“The sky cowboy is on his way!”
Rescue Red continued his climb until he heard screeching metal above him. “Oh no…The elevator cable’s about to break!”
The cable broke and the elevator began plummeting past him.
Rescue Red leaned towards the wall of the shaft, allowing the elevator to speed past him. Not a second later, using his feet to push off the wall, Rescue Red dropped onto the top of the elevator as it continued his fall.
He hopped in, grabbed the two injured, and used his rope to swing out just a second before the elevator crashed on the ground.
Rescue dangled in the shaft while carrying the two civilians. He climbed up to the second floor and dropped them off there as fiery walls grew closer towards them.
“Rescue Bird!” Carter called as the bird crashed through a window and into his hand. He detached a small tool from the bird that emitted a fire retardant gas he used to clear a path to the nearest window. He ran over to the window while carrying the civilians and jumped through it, shattering the glass. He landed on the ground as Dana, Rescue Pink, ran over to him and began checking the injured.
Kelsey, Joel, and Chad all joined Carter on the ground as the Mariner Bay Fire Department worked to control the fire.
“That’s everybody,” Joel said.
Carter nodded. “Good.”
This had been the sixth fire that day and Carter had a nervous feeling that something weird was going on.

A pair of dark beady eyes watched the Rangers through a pair of lenses. Everything was going according to plan so far. The real fun was about to begin.

Covered in his silver Ranger armor, Zhane blasted through the skies while riding his Galaxy Glider.
He flipped forward off of his board and landed in a crouched position on the ground below, his Super Silverizer appearing with a flash of golden light around his right arm.
Astro Silver aimed the blaster forward towards a group of the black bone armored creatures. The soldiers hissed as they charged forward towards the Rangers.
“How many of you creeps are there?” Astro Silver said as he opened fire, spraying rapid-fire lances of golden energy that pierced through their flesh and shattered through their bone.
The remains of the torn apart soldiers started to expand and regenerate. The destroyed creatures doubled, creating twice as many enemies for Astro Silver to deal with.
“My fault for asking,” he said as he switched his weapon to blade mode.
