In case anyone doesn't know (shame on you) Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike comes out today. I actually picked up my Copy last night around 7pm from my Gamestop ( was was a reserved customer). Anyway, I haven't had a lot of time to play due to school, work, and my undefeted KC Chiefs last night. But from what I've played it's GREAT. I thought I'd give you guys a short look at the beginning, in case anyone was wondering.
The games starts off with two levels. The first is the Tattooine Training mission and the next is the Empire Strikes mission.
The Training Mission starts off as Luke in the Farm house on foot. The detail from the beginning is just wonderful. You learn the basic moves inside the house (rolling, jumping, etc). Then, once outside, you can pick from the Landspeeder or the T-16 to take for a spin. The Landspeeder will take you to test an At-St as well as fight some Tuskin Radiers. The T-16 will show you the ropes of flying, put you in a race around Beggar's Canyon and even get you into a little dog fighting.
The First Mission, The Empire Strikes, puts you in the cockpit of the trusty X-Wing as the Empire is attacking the Yavin base. This is just like RSII, only more crisp and smoother (if that's possible).
All in all the game looks GREAT. So far the only gripe that reviews are giving it is the foot missions. While they are not up to the standard of, say, Jedi Academy or Knights of the Old Republic, you have to remember this is a Flight based game. The foot missions just add the the overall feel of the Trilogy itself. I think they are new and fun. It makes the game fresh again, keeping everything that was GREAT about the first and second one and taking it to a new level. Anyone who loves Star Wars will LOVE this game. I recommend it to anyone. I'll play more over the next few days and I'll try to answer any questions you guys might have. But for the record, if you can afford to get this game, GET it. You will not be disappointed. neo
