Too many buggy issues. Anyway, I moved my fan fic from here, to there, and now to MSN Groups. Character bios are up as well as pictures. You can see and read about the characters, as well as part of episode two "Maybe I Won't Look Back".

Two people already joined the group. Come by if you want.

*grumble* I agree with you, and not just about the technical issues.

Is anyone else getting tired of people using reviews as message boards? A couple of writers have been perpetuating a stupid flame war for over a week and spamming other people's review boards as well with it.

When a reviewer scolded them for perpetuating it and dragging it out, pointing out that ff.net wasn't the place for that kind of stupidity, one of them responded with the following brilliant commentary:

its just a site where people basically get together and flame and mock bad stories
or praise good ones

Me, thinking: "Well, that's what you're turning it into, you *censored* idiot."

It's not SUPPOSED to be. Flaming and spamming review boards is against the TOS - which the twit already read because he quoted it while trying to pretend to be someone else who claimed a signed-in user had "stolen" his/her identity.

What is WRONG with some people?

Grrr...

And someone asked me earlier why I've been avoiding the site. :(

Fanfiction.net indeed has become very gay, But I miss the MSTS more than the NC-17S, most of which are like this:

(Kari and Davis in Digimon come up to one another)

Kari: Make me hot

Davis: No, Make ME hot

(they shag)

THE END

Still, the "No NC-17" rule is ridiculous, what if there is only SOME sexual content in the fic? There are some great fanfics which do NOT resort to cheap use of characters like Ash giving Pikachu some sexual healing

This site is the one visited most by P.R and other show fanfic writers alike, sure there are new imposter sites coming up which allow NC-17s no matter how bad, but they are hardly visited.

Why does most of everyone here rag on ff.net. I find the site to be a very useful and easy to use. And big deal if they took off the nc-17 stories. One of the main big reasons that I think they did so was, because anyone could get to them. Which would not be a good thing for our young readers out there. Did anyone ever that the time to actaully ask ff.net why they did? I'm sure the reason would be something to the effect of that. Here I really don't see too much of a differance here, people post stories, people give reviews on story. Some good, some not so good.

I like the stories there, including "MMPR meets PRNS". The Time Force team showed up too. Zack didn't like Shane and Dustin that much, since they said "dude" every 5 seconds. Dustin loved Kimberly so much(Kim didn't like him at all), he was drooling. Wes loved Kimberly! Wes(to Kimberly)-I have posters of you all over my room! Jen-Wes, could we please stick to the mission?
In the end , the TF team was captured by Lothor. MMPR and PRNS worked together to free them, but just to let you know, ZORDON WAS AND IDIOT IN THIS FAN FIC!!!!! HE INSULTED SENSEI, THE NS RANGERS, AND, well, I can't remember anything else. It was still good.

Okay, look FF.net is awful, there are a lot of bad stories there and there are bugs in the system. BUt seriously, what do you expect? It is a free site open to all witout quality control other than age restrictions. If you want to read fics of higher quality (and I point out here that there are some very good authors on ff.net), go to an archive that at least has some qulaity guidelines such as Athers library or Paladar.com

In regards to those who complain that the site has bugs when they want to post their story, the answer is get your own site, do a bit of work, manage your own server and then you won't have cause to complain. When you get something for nothing you can't expect it to run perfectly.

I know how hard it is to run a site like that, and in general I think ff.net is very impressive, not to say I don't get frustrated at times. But they perform a service by providing a central free site that a lot of people use. If you want your fanfic to be seen, ff.net is still the place to put it.

I sent them an e-mail enquiring about their beta reader policy 20+ days ago now. I still haven't received any form of reply whatsoever. :(

How can you be sure that they don't have control over what goes on??? I mean a site like that is HARD to run. ff.net had been down when they found a virus running around...and they do maintain it every now and then.

Beside i also have my own site. and not many ppl come to it. So I have no clue if i do have readers to my fic.....ff.net is the place to go before sending your work to the pladar.com and other fic site

I hope this debate is now closed. * i have a headache  *

Not to mension when was the last time Padlars place was updated? FF.net is updated all the time, and they do, do checks on making their site better. I will always use ff.net to post my fanfics before I go any where else.

I agree with you on that, I have some of my fics there and I have read some really good fics on there.

There again I wasn't getting at ff.net as much as I was stating how annoyed I get at people who complain about what is a useful service that is as far as I can tell free to all.

With a site that size I think you should expect there will occassionally be bugs and that the webmaster is not sitting there all the time to fix them immediately. As it is I've seen times when the site has really had a problem and they have gone all out on trying to fix it. And they do work on issues over longer periods of time to try to get some of the kinks out (they've finally managed to get a few bugs out of the search facility)

The other part of my comment was aimed at those who complain that some of the fics there are awful and was just pointing out that you cannot expect the webmaster to read each fic and decide whether or not it should be posted. If he did then ff.net would take a lot longer to update and would probably not host anywhere near the number of fics it does now. I mean it is the major hub for multiple series of fanfiction and the webmaster can't be expected to check everything.

Right - I've looked into other sites, and they either haven't been updated in ages, or are closed, or are very specialized - and some of the ones that supposedly check quality don't have much better stuff than ff.net.

I also have my own site, and most of my visitors are only there because they saw my stories on ff.net. It's well worth dealing with the occasional hassle.
