I have a question to everyone out there. And by the way, this should probably go in the Polls forum, but I thought it would be better to post it here because it would get better feedback here.

Anyway, this is the question....I've kind of been thinking about which characters to give the axe in C2D the Novel. Aisha's already passed on....but what other characters should die while fighting?

These are the characters I'm looking at dying a hero's death: Kimberly, Billy, Emily (Jason's GF), Penny (Rocky's GF), Rocky, Tanya, Bulk and/or Skull, Zhane, and Zack and Trini. Which of these, if any, would you like to see die in the Novel.

Plus, who should make a guest appearance in the Novel? I'm looking at giving Leo, Kendrix, Kai, Mike, and/or Damon a guest appearance in the Novel. They wouldn't have a big part, just a cameo to...you know....bring Space and Lost Galaxy closer together. It's one of the reasons why I included Villamax in one of the early chapters.

Thanks for the feedback I know to expect and love.

With regards, Devious.

For cameos you should definatley put Leo in since he stated "To the 11th power" that he was there when the rangers saved Earth.

Billy should die with the Deamon Hunter being destroyed.
Maybe Zack because of the powers being unstable.

Leo should appear because he said that he was there in C2D.

Yeah, I know.....but before I make any decision regarding the direction of a fic, I like to get responses from readers as to what they think. It sounds stupid, but it helps me determine which direction I want to take the story.

Hmm, even though Zhane is one of my favorite charaters. His death would have a big impact on Andors and as well as Astanam/Korone.

I would have Kim die, that would really effect Tommy, and for a cameo you should defently use Leo.

I wouldn't kill off anymore the rangers already have enough to mourn after with Aisha and sooner or later Zordon. I think that would be enough death. Also you should have a cameo by David Tommys brother no one ever really puts him in anything.

Yes, too many deaths already. Don't think about harming Bulk or Skull.

I hate to break it to you, but that's the worst attitude to have. Once you start asking readers what they want, they all want to have some input. You can't possibly cater to everyone without compromising the story. I like reader input, but I refuse to let that ever stop me from taking stories in the direction I want to go.

So what I'm saying is see this ride through until the end. The readers will appreciate it more if you keep your creative vision in check.

Have Bulk or Skull die (note the word 'OR' there, meaning ONE of them should die) because they've been friends for so long and it would have more impact than the death of any Ranger

That's EXACTLY what I was trying to say earlier. This is fanfic gospel as far as I'm concerned.

As for Bulk and Skull, you can't really kill either of them off, because both of them are in future PR Episodes (Lost Galaxy, and Forever Red)

You really should kill someone that isn't a ranger. Gives the rangers more reason to fight.

You're approaching this story from the opposite perspective one should when undertaking a project of that magnitude. "Who should I kill to provide the story with maximum oomph."

Rachel Dawson had Kai allude to friends of his who had died during Countdown to Destruction, and how much accountability he felt Karone had for that. This sequence, which contained no flashbacks and no "stunt writing" to off existing characters, was one of the most powerful things I had ever read pertaining to Countdown.

Rob killed Aurico as an outgrowth of where the story was headed. He did not pimp it from the beginning, and it did not occur towards the start of the novelization. He did not solicit opinions on who should be the next to die, thus mitigating much of the individual sacrifice of these characters -- "just another statistic." Death doesn't make a story big and important; it tends to be the laziest crutch of a writer.

Look, I appreciate input as much as the next guy. This is why I have many friends and associates edit my work as I proceed. It can add depth and dimension to the story you had not originally thought to incorporate. But coming out and asking your readers what they want next... You're shooting yourself in the foot. This is not a round-robin. Participatory stories almost invariably suck, I'm sorry.

Look, I never said I was actually going to go with what everybody says, that was never my intention. I've been a fanfic writer for little over eight years and one thing I've learned is that you can't please everybody.

With that said, what I started doing a long time ago was just getting people's thoughts on certain areas of a fanfiction and then I look at all angles from the reader's perspective and that helps me to disertain how I go with the fic. I don't do it to please the readers. Is this a bad idea? Maybe, but it's the way I do things and anybody who disagrees with that, email me and I'd be more than happy to explain it to you personally.

I don't do things for the fans, I do them for me! But I do like to have the thoughts of other readers because it helps me to determine if the direction of a fanfic I'm writing is good or if I should change it.

But at the same time, I'm not one of those people who goes out and demands or begs for feedback. Like say, if no one had bothered to post anything at the board about this Novel, I would have continued to write it regardless and I know I'll get feedback when I post it at my website because there are PR fans that go to my site and don't bother with the Rangerboard.

With "C2D" there is a WORLD IN PERIL, people die, as long as it is the right people that die in this war, and no continunity is harmed, I have no problem with Devious asking for some help

Yeah, you guys chill out. There's nothing wrong with feedback, that was all he asked for. I've read almost all of his stuff, he knows what he's doing, there's no need to jump all over him for asking for some feedback.
