I figured I'd save some space in my latest "authors note", as they seem to be getting longer, and Chapter Twenty Six is long enough as it is.
I recently recieved some amazing news regarding my writing career. If any of you have read the book "Please Stop Laughing At Me" by Jodee Blanco (A New York Times Best Seller) you know what an amazing person Ms Blanco truly is. For those of you unaware of the book, the story is about Jodee's struggle with school bullying, and how she overcame not only the constant verbal abuse of her peers, but the physical abuse, as well as a physical deformity, in order to do what she knew in her heart was right.
Now, after I finished this book, I officially had a new idol. Like me, not only did Jodee have to deal with school bullying, but she also became a writer, which I someday aspire to be. She is everything I one day hope to be!
I recently got the opportunity to meet Ms Blanco at a book signing here in Illinois. She is as kind, and as sweet a person as you will ever meet in this world, I will guarantee you that much. Not only that, but just prior to the signing, I had found out that a great deal of what she described in her book actually happened at MY High School!
This lead to Jodee eventually speaking at my school, to speak to teachers about bullying in High Schools. And to my utter shock and delight, I was asked to speak alongside Jodee, being a bullying victim myself. In my eyes, the session could not have gone better, and having a chance to get up there and speak with your idol is just priceless. Let me tell you....
This is where it gets good.....
Following the session, Jodee approached me with the idea of travelling to some schools and speaking with her! I was absolutely overwhelmed. She told me to get in touch with her, which I did, and I discovered that not only does she want me to speak with her, but she also wants me to contribute to her next book!!! You see, after I'd told Jodee that I was a writer, she mentioned that she would try to help me expand on my writing, and even get me published! Well evidently, she has come through with her promise, and I will hopefully be a contributor to Jodee Blanco's next book!
