MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: THE NEXT GENERATION
A NIGHTMARE IN ANGEL GROVE

((A quick, out-of-character note from the Author: Okay, for those of you that are familiar with an earlier fanfiction I had begun work in, this is a continuance to it, as well as an inspired tale. From whence the inspiration comes you might ask? Well, as the author, no offence intended, but I'm not tellin. For those of you that are not familiar with my earlier work, then I'll give you a quick fill-in here. The title of the fanfiction-in-progress is called Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Next Generation. As the title suggests, its the next generation of MMPR, to the next level. It takes place a year after Power Rangers Mystic Force and some time shortly before Power Rangers Operation Overdrive's events of Once A Ranger. The full explanation for the Power Coins and the new team is in Chapters 1-4, 4 still in progress of MMPR: TNG. The way to find out? Read!))

Over a month's time now has passed since the Power Coins have found new owners, and Necrom has suffered many defeats at the hands of the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. During this month's time, the battle has become too much for Shiva and she has stepped out, making room for Angela Simons, who is now the new Yellow Ranger. Inu Silver has become a successful leader and the team has taken Necrom down in many battles, but now the Rangers are in for the fight of their lives, and this fight will be fought......in their sleep.


Chapter 1: A Typical Day's Work.

A normal day was being lived out in the city of Angel Grove....at least for its inhabitants. The Power Rangers were busy taking down yet another of Necrom's newest monsters, Viseron. Inu, the Red Ranger, quickly drew out his Power Sword and charged at Viseron, energizing the Sword with power straight from his Ninja Power Coin, and drew a slash right across the villain's chest. Viseron fell to the ground, sparks shooting from his body in massive streams and then a large explosion soon followed. Watching the battle from his own dimension, Necrom became infuriated with the sight and dashed out to where his monster had fallen. "Rangers, you think you've won, but this battle is only beginning." he grinned sinisterly as he then formed a new Darklight Gem between his two fingers and held the small crystal outward, and began chanting. "Dark spirits of long ago, look upon your servant of evil, and make him grow!" he shouted, tossing the crystal and it landed on Viseron's forehead. Viseron then rose up, the Gem sinking into his skin, and his body began to glow with evil power coursing through him.

Steam rose from the ground and he began to grow, just as Necrom had commanded him to. In his right hand, a long sword made of crystals and fire burned with power. "Now I'm living large!" he called out, stepping towards the Rangers. Inu, Angela, Nathan, Natalie, Sean, Chip, and Marcus quickly leaped to the side. "Alright, I'm convinced that we need some big time help here you guys." Chip, the White Ranger, motioned to the others. "Right!" Inu nodded as he, Angela, the Yellow Ranger, Nathan and Natalie, the Black and Pink Rangers, Sean the Blue Ranger, and Chip, quickly lined up one behind the other in two rows of three. Necrom watched this sight, confused. The Rangers then joined hands across the rows, chanting quickly "Powers of water, powers of light, ancient powers of the galaxies, now unite! We need Shogun Zord power, now!" the Rangers called out, letting go and thrusting their right hands into the air. Beams of energy rose and fired into the skies, and the five massive humanoid robots, known only as the Shogun Zords, landed on the ground. Inu leaped into his Zord, calling out "Red Shogun Zord, power up!", while Sean climbed into the cockpit of his robot with the command "Blue Shogun Zord, power up!".

Nathan soon followed up, commanding "Black Shogun Zord, power up!", as Angela followed suite with "Yellow Shogun Zord, power up!", which ended as Chip and Natalie cried out "White Shogun Zord, power up!". Each Shogun Zord did its unique battle pose, and then all five warriors charged towards Viseron, who did the same, swinging his new sword at the robots quickly and angrily. Using a mental command from Inu, the Red Shogun Zord quickly drew out its shield, deflecting the blow of the sword, then thrusting the "S" shaped emblem forward, and firing a circular beam of red energy, forcing Viseron back. "Damn, we're going to need Ninjor!" Inu told the others. Just as he mentioned the Ninja master's name, none other but Ninjor himself came riding in on his cloud. "You say my name, and I'm on my way!" he chuckled as he landed between the Red and Black Shogun Zords. Nathan looked to Inu from his cockpit. "I'd say we take it up a notch Inu.". Inu then nodded and quickly moved his hands into the position where his fists met each other and called out "Shogun Megazord, power up!". And with that single command, the emblems on each Zord energized and all five robots began to charge right at Viseron, who had his sword drawn and ready to strike.

Just as he drew back his arm to strike at the Red Shogun Zord, all five Zords leaped right over the top of him and into the air. Natalie quickly began pressing buttons. "Hey guys, I think its time we tried out an aerial docking sequence." she told the Rangers through her communicator. Inu accepted the challenge and his Zord flew straight up into the air, beginning to transform into the torso of the Shogun Megazord. The Blue and White Shogun Zords followed, each changing into the left and right arms of the mighty robot, then slowly moving into position with the Red Shogun Zord, then slamming into place. "Whoa, easy there you guys!" Inu joked, as the helmet slipped over the Zord's head and the headgear locked into position. The Black and Yellow Zords did a quick somersault and transformed into the legs, landing on the ground as the body and arms of the Megazord landed and connected with them very shortly afterward, the Shogun Megazord fully transformed and ready for battle, standing atop a plateau. The Megazord then jumped off the plateau and landed, moving towards Viseron, slowly but readily. Ninjor then joined the Shogun Megazord, holding a small pellet in his hand, which he tossed to the ground and smoke surrounded him.

Once the smoke cleared, he was in his battle mode, with his sword drawn, and ready to attack. Both warriors made their way to Viseron, engaging in a great and dangerous battle, swords clashing and clanging against each other. Viseron then lifted his visor, quickly firing a beam of energy from his eyes, knocking the Shogun Megazord's Fire Sword out of its hands, and Ninjor's sword went flying out of his own, courtesy of the blast. Ninjor then rolled out of the way, and grabbed the Fire Sword, gripping it tightly and igniting the blade with his own energies. He then drew a circle of fire around himself, then slashed quickly and strongly at Viseron, knocking him back, the villain now in pain. The Rangers watched Ninjor do this and then realized what he was doing....he was switching attacks with them. So the Shogun Megazord rose up, slightly drained from the last blast, and moved its hands over the insignia on its chest, and formed a flaming disk of energy. The robot then thrusted its hands forward and fired the flaming disk, which went directly through Viseron, who then exploded in a firey death. "YOU RANGERS WILL PAY! I SWEAR IT!" Necrom screamed at the top of his voice, vanishing in a beam of crimson red energy and going to his own dimension again.

The Megazord then seperated and the Rangers jumped out of the Zord cockpits, letting the Shogun Zords return to their hiding spots. Ninjor returned to his human size and Ninja mode, as the Rangers crossed their arms and said "Power down!", demorphing back into their human forms, although looking extremely exhausted from the battle, as it had taken its toll over them. "Man, I am wiped out from that battle!" Sean whined, holding his arm, extremely tired out. "Yeah, I could use some rest too" Inu agreed. "Then maybe we should go back to the Temple and get some sleep?" suggested Angela. Ninjor nodded to each complaint from the Rangers, and led them home to the Temple Of Ninja Power, which he moved to the former location of the Command Center and Power Chamber. Upon their arrival, Alpha 7 bowed and greeted them. "Ay yi yi Rangers, you look like you've been beaten senseless." the robot said, worried for his friends as he led Inu to his quarters in the Temple. "Thankfully I have almost completed the Power Center, which is a new part of the Temple.", Alpha continued. Inu smiled lightly as he then let go of the red beaded curtain, sealing off his quarters and laying on his bed, which had red sheets and red blankets. As he set his Power Morpher onto the endtable next to the bed he looked up and sighed.

Just then, Angela came into the room and sat on the edge of the bed, patting his arm slightly. "Hey, you did great out there today." she said with a smile, although a very tired one. "Yeah, well, I think we all did good out there, but its just that I'm still new to the whole Power Ranger thing. I mean, one day I'm a lowly apprentice to Ninjor, and then the next, I'm the Red Ranger? Talk about funky, huh?" Inu joked, looking to Angela. "Hey, you've been doing it for a month, I've only been in it for 2 weeks, so you can't complain, you've been doing this longer." she joked back, getting up. "Anyways, sleep well and I'll see you tonight or tomorrow, whenever we wake up." she told Inu, moving past the beaded curtain and going to her own room. The twins were in the hallway, talking with one another before heading to their quarters as well, both telling about how glad they were that they were now doing something worthwhile with their lives and their time. Natalie then stepped into her room, the outlay the same, but in pink, and Nathan did the same as well. Back at the Non Dimension though, Necrom sat on his throne, thinking patiently. "Master, if it pleases you, I think I know of a way to beat the Rangers..." Dregus said, bowing before the throne and looking up.

Zephyra soon followed and nodded to Dregus. "Go on, we're listening.", she smiled through her new visor, intent to hear this one. "As I was saying, my lord, I do believe we have a way to destroy the Power Rangers and its the most obvious way of them all. Back in a town called Springwood, there were many rumors of unexplained deaths in a place called Elm St., child deaths. But not just any ordinary child deaths, these were deaths that took place as the teenagers were sleeping. The ones that survived, their parents and friends never believed, until that person was either killed later or their friends and family found out later on...the hard way. In short, their nightmares destroyed them." Dregus explained cautiously. Necrom then stood from his throne and looked to the warrior on his knees. "You don't say..." he said, very intrigued by this new revelation. "Well, how were they killed if they were only experiencing bad dreams?" he asked. "Simple. They were more than just 'dreams'. They were reality. There was a child murderer named Fred Krueger, who was originally sent to jail, but set free on a technicality. So the parents of Springwood took it into their own hands and burned him alive, in his own lair." Dregus continued to weave the tale.

"However, just before he died, three dream demons offered him the chance to be forever. And he took it. After his death he became something even more powerful, the stuff that nightmares were and still are, made of. Children would go to sleep, and before they knew it their pleasant dreams would become literal nightmares, as if spawned from the very recesses of Hell itself, and the new Freddy Krueger would be Satan, ready to condemn even the innocent to what he believed as a punishment for the parents of Springwood killing him......death. He would torture the children until they died in their nightmares." Dregus explained. Necrom sat there and looked at him with a blank look on his visage. "You mean to tell me that these kids died, just from their dreams?!" he screamed, obviously not getting the rest of the story. "Master, no! Listen to me! Once killed in the dreams, however the victim was executed in said dream, it also became a reality! The best part is that Freddy can NOT be destroyed. Now I say we summon him from the Dream Realm and then turn him loose on the Rangers!" Dregus cackled."

Necrom stood from his throne quickly and nodded, extending his hand and firing a crimson beam at the nearby wall in the throneroom, creating a portal. He then began to chant, "Spirits and forces now I summon you, bring to me the one called Freddy Krueger, make him now appear to me!". Then suddenly, the palace of Necrom began to shake, and an explosion followed, and as the smoke cleared, a demonic figure rose and stood, as a ghastly red and green, tattered old sweater burned onto him. Onto his right hand materialized a glove with razor bladed fingers, black pants quickly covered his waist and legs as brown shoes did the same for his feet, and atop his head landed a tattered brown fedora. His skin was burned and disfigured, horribly, the smell of blood and death filling the air. Necrom laughed and smirked evilly as he sat back down on his throne and welcomed the figure of evil, who then approached him.

"You can call me Freddy!" Krueger exclaimed, drawing his razor blades and spreading them out, holding his right hand over his head and striking a pose. "But who the hell are you?!" he then asked, quickly getting into Necrom's face. Necrom, somewhat annoyed, pushed Freddy away from him with his hand. "I am Necrom and I have brought you here for a reason, Krueger. I've heard all about your murders and the deaths of the children you killed back in Springwood, and now I have a little deal to offer you. I can grant you invulnerability in the real world as well as the Dream Realm, under one condition......that you track down and destroy the Power Rangers!"

Chapter 2: Dreams and Reality.
Freddy sat back in a chair in Necrom's throneroom and looked to him intently as he made his offer. "Well, to be quite honest with you, I don't like the idea of mortality or immortality in the real world, however, let me counter your deal with this! You get the blood, and I get the glory!" Freddy proclaimed, looking to his new master. Zephyra chuckled. "Hmph! Sounds like a line from a bad movie I once saw!" she exclaimed. "SILENCE!" Necrom shouted and stood, shooting lightning from his fingertips at Zephyra, who then fell to the floor in slight agony. Freddy then looked to Necrom. "All I need to do is get into the dreams of a Ranger, and then twist it around to my own liking. Once this is completed, they'll be powerless to fight back!" he laughed evilly and then jumped out of his seat.

Necrom nodded and then extended his left arm, giving Freddy the signal to do his thing. Back at the Temple Of Ninja Power, Ninjor paced the Temple's halls, placing what looked to be incense sticks beside each veil to each of the Rangers' rooms and then lit them. "These sleeping sticks will allow the Rangers to rest peacefully, as shall I be able to do the same, and when the time comes, we shall awaken tomorrow, filled with energy and ready to fight back." he said peacefully as he made his way into his own chamber and sat on a large mat in the middle of the room. A white smoke began to envelope the Temple's halls, soon making its way into the rooms where the civilian Rangers struggled with sleeping. The smoke entered the rooms quickly and each Ranger as well as Ninjor soon fell fast asleep.

Sensing the Rangers had fallen asleep, Necrom gave Freddy the go ahead to do his work. Freddy complied and locked himself into Inu's energy signature immediately. While asleep, Inu soon fell into a dream in which he was out in the woods training. As he practiced his martial arts moves and battle tactics, he heard something out in the distance. Deciding to investigate what it was, he made his way through the trees and vines in the woods. Soon, he found himself in an abandoned old neighborhood, and an old rundown house in front of him. "Hello? Anyone out there?" he called out, but there was no answer. As he began to move closer to the house, the sky turned pitch black and lightning struck the ground before him. He jumped back, terror surging through his body slowly.

He then began to run for cover, hoping to get out of the neighborhood, but after going around in a complete circle, he then realized he was trapped. Fear began to replace the blood which flowed through his veins and just as Inu thought things couldn't get any worst, scarecrows robed in black garments began to make their way towards him. He quickly called out "Ninja Ranger Power Now!" and crossed his index fingers. A flash of light surrounded him and he morphed into the Red Ninja Ranger, and began to fight off the evil scarecrows one by one. After fighting through the barrage of straw cronies, Inu made his way towards the old house again. Just then, he heard "Uh uh uhhh......" from someone behind him. He turned and it was Freddy Krueger himself. Freddy quickly drew his razor blades out.

Inu, sensing danger looked to him. "I don't just let anyone into my house little boy. And you'll soon learn that you're unwelcome here!" Freddy laughed evilly, approaching Inu. Knowing there was no other option, Inu grabbed his Power Morpher and flipped it around calling out "Its Morphin Time!" and pressing the button on the side, opening the top and bottom halves of the Morpher. "Red Ranger Power!" he shouted out and his Red Ranger suit snapped together around him. He then drew out his Power Sword and began to move back some as Freddy came closer to him.

Inu backed up some, hoping to make room for his battle, and Freddy then lunged at him, aiming his claws right at him. As the blades hit the blade of Inu's Power Sword, sparks flew from the Red Ranger's weapon, knocking it out of his hands, and landing into the ground with the blade buried in the dirt. Freddy then slashed across Inu's armor, the claws scraping over the metal of his suit, more sparks flying as Inu fell to the ground. Trying to muster up strength to get up again, Inu tried to rise and fell back down repeatedly. Freddy laughed as he watched Inu struggling to get back up and then kicked him hard in the side. As his strength began to leave him, Freddy grabbed him by the arm and forced him back onto his feet and then spat right onto his visor, still laughing. "So, you're the one that has been troubling the big guy? HA!" he cackled.

Freddy then sent Inu flying through the air and crashing through the door of the old house. When Inu landed on the cold hard wooden floors, the door instantly fixed itself and slammed shut, and he demorphed. Surrounded now in total darkness, Inu began to get up and feel around for a light switch. Upon examining the walls with just his hands and being able to navigate in total darkness, he came across a switch which he flicked, but no lights came on. Inu began to panic somewhat, seeing as how he was trapped inside of a home, in pitch blackness. Hurrying over to another area, and running into a few objects along the way, he found another light switch and tried flicking it as well, yet still no lights came on. "Whats the matter, little boy? Afraid of the dark?", Freddy's voice echoed inside of the home. The sound of his voice alone sent shivers down Inu's spine.

It was in that moment that Inu realized this....he was actually afraid. When he looked to see where the voice was coming from, he saw nothing but blackness. He then advanced forward through the home, hoping to find out where Freddy was, though somewhat afraid. "I'm not afraid of you, whoever you are!" he shouted, in an attempt at false bravado. Finally, coming across a set of stairs leading up, Inu looked and Freddy was standing at the top of the stairs in front of a window. Lightning crashed outside and light the area, giving a good view of the villain. Inu quickly pulled out his Power Morpher and called out "Its Morphin Time!", but for some reason, the Morpher wouldn't work. Freddy made his way down the steps and then grabbed the Morpher from Inu's hands, pushing Inu backwards and crashing into a small endtable in the home.

Freddy examined the Power Morpher carefully and smirked. "Well, well, looks like I have one of your little toys now. Consider yourself......grounded!" he laughed evilly as he took the Morpher and placed it on a circular table. Inu, seeing the Morpher, seized the opportunity and ran for it, but then Freddy formed a barrier of energy around it and when he went to grab it, Inu gained a shock of immense proportions and he quickly pulled his hand back. Freddy then looked to Inu as he held his aching hand and made his way over to him, grinning. Inu tried to throw a punch at Freddy but he countered it and grabbed Inu's hand with his clawed one, digging the blades right into his skin, cutting a vein. Inu screamed out in pain and freed his hand, backing against the wall.

Freddy then gave him an evil wink and said "I'll be back soon, and with more friends for you to play with. But for now, my scarecrows will keep you company. Somewhere in this house you may find shelter, but every room you try to enter, you'll find someone eager to play....HAHAHA!!!!" he grinned and then vanished just as quickly as he appeared. Inu sat against a wall in pain, his hand bleeding massively, blood falling onto the floor. "Man, I've gotta bandage this up quick...." he thought, as he looked around, trying to figure out what his next move would be. Could Freddy be right though? Could the entire home be booby trapped with more scarecrows....? Inu knew there was only one way to find out, and dashed over to a window, tearing off a section of one of the curtains and wrapping it around his bleeding hand as a bandage.

Chapter 3: Freddy's House.
