Prologue:

Humans are strange creatures, always searching for something new, something better than what they have. They’re never happy, not entirely, from what I can see. I’ll never understand their never ending search but that’s probably because I’m not human, well, not an Earthling anyway. I suppose being a Spirian Princess, I get all I want when I want it, and so all this searching just seems pointless. I’m on my way to Earth right now, it’s been years since I was last here, and I hope too much hasn’t changed. I hate change.

“Princess? We’re here.”

Glancing up from the diary in her hands, the teenager smiled softly at the servant at the doorway. “Thank you. Give me a few minutes,” she said as she stood up, letting the pen drop out her hands.

The servant looked at the princess then took a quick glance around the room, as if looking for something, before bowing and closing the door behind him.

The princess ran her hands down her silk robe before turning towards the large bed, “it’s clear.” She said lightly into the silence. Putting a hand to her mouth, she giggled lightly as a teenager, roughly two years older crawled out from under the bed. “Oh Eric, you are hopeless,” she commented playfully. “One day you’re going to get caught.”

“And until that day, I’m going to carry on keeping you company,” Eric replied with a quirky grin as he bowed playfully.

The princess smiled as she walked up to him, kissing his cheek gently, “thank you.” She said, glancing up into his hazel eyes. She reached up and playfully ruffled his already scruffy brown hair.

Eric groaned as he batted her hands away, “I better go. I’ll meet you outside.” He said, dipping his head slightly before walking out the room, letting the door shut behind him.

The princess sighed softly as she sat back at her desk, picking the pen back up. She took a glance out the window, biting her lower lip, the servants and ship’s crew were all gathering, waiting for her to come out. She took a glance at the diary before lowering the pen back to the paper.

He’s here, on Earth. The one and only person I’ve ever loved is now seeking refuge on Earth. At least that’s what we’re told. I never did accept the news of his death, his planet falling, leaving no survivors. Maybe it was the fact I couldn’t let him go. I love him, I need him...

I know he’s more than likely moved on, fell in love elsewhere, hell; he could even have his own family by now. But until I know for sure, I’m not giving up.

I love him still, I need him, and I want him back in my life. And after all, I’m April Brooks, and April Brooks always gets what she wants.

Letting out another soft sigh, April stood up, packing her diary into the bag by her bed, she slung it on her back and walked out the room.

“P-Pregnant?”

“Yes princess,” the medic replied. “There is no doubt, you’re three months pregnant.”

April sat, speechless, for a moment before standing up, straightening her robes out. “I need to get to Koroba, now.” She declared, trying to keep her voice steady.

“You can’t,” the young princess’ bodyguard said from the doorway.

“Why the hell not?” April asked, “you can’t exactly stop me, Eric. Have a ship ready in-”

“Princess! You can’t,” Eric interrupted. “Koroba’s all but destroyed, most have fled. The planets on lock down, no one and nothing is to leave or enter the planet until it’s all over. Whenever that’ll be.”

April froze, “you’re lying… It can’t have gotten so bad so soon…”

“They have reinforcements,” Eric explained softly. “They wiped out the Defence Force, they stood no chance.”

“Defence Force,” April whispered, holding back her urge to cry. “How many survived?” She questioned almost afraid of the answer.

“The records show none have survived…”

April bit back a sob, shaking her head as she touched her slightly swollen stomach, “it can’t be…”

As the sun set, a deep red shadow cast over Blue Bay Harbour’s beach, two silhouettes stood out in the distance. The male shifted his weight from one foot to the other, running a hand through his messy brown hair, a perfect image of patience across his face, unlike the female beside him. Letting out another sigh of impatience, the female looked around then side glanced at her companion silently. The two teenagers shared a long silent glance, talking without words, in that split second, a crack of lightning lit up the area for a moment, lighting up the features of the two teenagers. Nodding silently, the female turned back to the sea.

“It’s started,” she whispered.

The male turned to face the light breeze, his eyes closed long enough to sense her feelings, “it’s too soon.” He murmured quietly.

“We don’t have a choice,” placing a hand on his shoulder, his companion sighed softly. “There’s a team here… We can ask for their help. They can-”

“No,” the male interrupted and turned to face her. “No, we do this alone, this is our fight.”

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of town, a black cloak swayed in the wind, swirling around a tall figure clad in black metal armour. Lighting a helmeted head, the figure took in the scene of the city below him, the lights from passing cars seemed to be the only sign of lift in the quiet city. “They’re here,” he finally spoke up darkly, his gravely voice sending chills down the minions around him. “Find them and bring them to me… I want them alive.”

“Yes sir,” a husky voice replied from behind him. In a flash of light, he was gone, leaving the armoured figure alone.

“You can’t hide anymore, kids.” He growled, “I’ll find you and I’ll finish the job. That… That I can promise you.”

Chapter One – New Faces:

The sun started to rise early the next morning, basking the famous Wind Ninja Academy in a soft yellow light. Slowly, the students started to emerge from the huge building, chattering amongst themselves as they made their way to their classes. Set back from most outdoor classes, on the edge of the forest, a small group of students gathered, digging toes into the mud around them and talking quietly between each other.

Yawning loudly, the Earth Ninja rubbed the back of his head, watching as his students turned to pay attention to him. “Pair up and work on what you were doing last lesson. You’re going to be tested soon and I want to know you’ll all pass without a doubt.” He said, quirking a smile.

“Uh, Sensei… What was that again? I mean… What did we do?”

Dustin glanced across at his student and groaned slightly in annoyance, “how-”

“I’ll pair with him,” Marah’s chirpy voice spoke up. Flashing her teacher a bright smile, she walked up to her classmate, nudging him with her elbow. “He can’t be that bad.”

The class laughed between them as Dustin hopped off the rock and rolled his brown eyes, “just… Get on with it.” He complained and started walking away.

“Something we said?” The student muttered to the alien beside him.

Marah shrugged and turned to him, “I don’t know, but Sam, we’re being watched.” She said and glanced up then back at her friend, “Uncle, so I guess we should just get on with it.”

Sam looked around, spotting Sensei Watanabe standing at the edge of the forest, he gulped and turned back, “I’ve had enough trouble with him before. I don’t want to get kicked out.” He whined lightly, a playful pout forming on his lips.

“Then get on with it,” Marah said playfully and smiled.

Dustin flopped onto the ground and watched his small class as they separated and worked on their defensive techniques, making a mental note to inform a few that standing around and talking wasn’t the greatest defence known to mankind. Letting a small sigh escape his lips, the Earth Ninja rubbed his tired eyes.

“Tired?”

“Like you have no idea,” Dustin complained and watched his best friend sit beside him. “Aren’t you supposed to be teaching?”

“Nope, meditation, they don’t need me there for it. Sensei’s idea,” Tori replied and looked over at her companion. “You slept last night, right?” She enquired, furrowing her brow.

Dustin rolled his eyes, “I tried.” He complained, “I kept seeing this weird image in my head every time I closed my eyes.”

“Weird image?” Tori asked, “of what?”

“That’s the thing… I don’t know. There was this guy… Looked like something out of Star Wars.” Rolling her eyes in response, Tori eyed the Earth Ninja carefully, waiting for him to continue. “He was standing over these six people… They were Rangers, with suits I’ve never seen before. All were motionless, laying on the ground…” Dustin shrugged and looked at Tori, “I kept waking at the exact same point… I don’t know who the guys were, or what was going on… But something didn’t feel right. Like it was more than a dream, ya know?”

Tori looked off ahead of her, lost in thought for a moment before nodding to herself, “I think you should tell Sensei.” She said, “I mean, he might be able to help you out.”

“Yeah, maybe I will…”

A lone ranger stood in the middle of the forest. His suit was completely blue. His belt was black with many soulchip holders and a silver belt buckle right on the front with the team logo ‘A’ on it. Coming from each shoulder were two ‘seat belts’ that were attached at the bottom to the belt buckle. On the right of the belt, he carried his Thunder Blaster, on the left was his morpher pouch. On the side of each arm, was a white dotted line, similar to the lines on the road. His gloves and boots were white with a tire like design on the end of each glove and boot. The number two was placed on his chest and had a dot that looked like an eye, teeth and a mane on the back of the two. On his helmet, he had a rectangular visor, with two dots just below the visor and above it, a lion like nose with the ‘A’ on it. To either side of it, two small lights that resembled a pair of eyes, on either side, he had bus-like wheels on the side of his helmet.

“I don’t think there’s anything here, mate.”

The ranger groaned and looked around the clearing before pulling his morpher out, “control said it was here.” He said as he inserted a chip into the morpher. The morpher glowed softly as a hologram appeared out from the screen, “you think it’s a glitch?”

The hologram, greatly resembling a cross between a lion and a blue bus, turned in a circle before coughing, “about time you let me out.” He complained, “I’m sure it’s some kind of cruelty-”

“Do you or not?” The ranger complained as he interrupted.

[i]“Must be, the hologram replied. “because I’m not picking anything up.”

Then ranger sighed in annoyance and nodded to himself before glancing at the hologram that was now looking up at him, “thanks anyway Lyall.”

“No problem mate. But really, have you ever tried a little compassion? It’s lonely in here and you never come to see me.”

The ranger groaned, “goodbye Lyall.”

“You suck.”

The ranger couldn’t help but chuckle as he removed the chip, holstering his morpher and soul chip again, he turned away from the area. The ranger took a glance around, his blue visor shining off the sun’s rays. As he turned, the ranger suit disappeared, revealing a teenager in a blue shirt and black jeans. His brown eyes scanned the area before he quirked a smile and started walking as if he’d never been there. As he walked out into the crowded streets of Blue Bay Harbour, he ran his hand through his scruffy brown hair and took in the scene ahead of him.

“You look lost,” a female muttered from behind him, causing him to jump and spin around quickly.

“I’m going to kill you one of these days,” the boy said simply and nudged his companion. “I thought you were checking out the town?”

“I was, I’m just on my way over there,” the girl pointed to a small shop set back from the others. “I just have a feeling that what we’re looking for, is in there…” She explained before he even had chance to open his mouth.

“It’s an extreme sports shop, Jaina… What is that to do with anything?”

The girl, Jaina, shrugged her shoulders and flicked her brown hair away from her eyes, “I don’t know, but… Since when was I wrong about these things?”

“You know what, I’m not even getting in this argument again,” her companion complained and started walking to the shop, shoving his hands into his jean pockets.

“Oh come on Jacen! I wanna argue,” Jaina complained as she followed.

Blue Bay Harbour’s just how I remember it from years ago, the beautiful blue skies are so different to purple skies I’m used to back home. I miss Spira already, but I miss my brother too and right now, my family are what I need. I called him this morning, let him know I was around but he’ll be busy until tonight. I might go pay him a visit anyway, being stuck in a small room all day might just send me crazy.

“Is your nose ever out that diary?”

Glancing up, April grumbled to herself and shut the book, turning in her chair, “do you ever knock?”

“Occasionally. Can I come in?”

“You’re basically in anyway,” April complained and stood up, adjusting the yellow blouse. “What you doing here? You’re off duty.”

Eric chuckled and stepped inside, shutting the door behind him, “I’ve come to see my friend, that a crime?” He asked lightly and looked at her, “how you doing?”

April watched her friend for a moment then sat on the edge of the bed, “I’m okay.” She replied, “spoke to my brother earlier. He’s working till late but I might go visit him, you going to join me?”

“Might as well,” Eric nodded slightly. “What are you going to do until then?”

“Go look for him,” April sighed softly.

“He might not even be on Earth, April,” Eric replied softly. “You know that right?” He asked then smiled lightly as she nodded, “so you know there’s a chance all this looking is futile.”

“And what if he is?” April asked, “and I don’t go looking for him?”

“Point taken.”

“I’m going to find him, Eric. Whether it’s on Earth or another planet, I will find him.”

“Hey Tor? Can you past me that brake line?” Dustin held up a hand, after a while, he lifted his head out from under the bike he was trying to work on. “Tori!”

Tori jumped and turned away from the bench, “huh?”

“Never mind, I’ll get it myself.” Dustin complained and yelped as he hit the top of his head on the bike.

Tori rolled her eyes and reached over the counter and smacked the back of her friend’s head lightly, “it’s right next to you, Dustin.”

Dustin blinked and glanced to the side, “oh!”

Tori furrowed her brow in thought, worry etched in her eyes, “Dustin…”

Dustin took a glance up long enough to know what she was going to say, “I haven’t gone mad, I swear. I’m just really tired, ‘kay?”

“It’s not the only thing you’ve forgot today.”

Dustin stood up slowly and rolled his hazel eyes, “Tor, I’m fine. So I’m having an airhead day, so-wow.”

“So-wow isn’t a word Dustin,” Tori pointed out and looked at him. “Dustin?” She waved a hand in front of his face and frowned, “Dustin!” She reached out and smacked his arm hard.

“Ow!” Dustin yelped and held his arm, “what was that for?”

“Ignoring me.”

“I wasn’t ignoring you, not on purpose anyway.” Dustin replied, his eyes never leaving a certain place in the corner of the room.

Tori eyed her best friend for a moment then twisted her neck to follow his gaze, “what are you staring at..?” She asked, spotting the culprit, “ugh. Boys.”

Dustin nudged her then looked back over at the teenage girl standing, her arms crossed over her pink blouse. She shifted her weight from one foot to another, flicking her brown hair away from her eyes. Her brown eyes scanned the small sports shop, finally landing on the Earth Ninja. Raising an eyebrow, she watched the ex-ranger turn back to the bike he was working on.

“You’re staring,” a voice interrupted.

“Am not.”

Jacen chuckled and rolled his eyes, “is there a reason why we’re here? Other than you trying to find yourself a boyfriend.”

“If you weren’t my brother, I’d kill you.”

Flashing his twin a grin, Jacen turned and started walking out of the shop.

“Wait a minute,” Jaina called, she reached out and grabbed his arm. “Jace, they’re here.” She whispered in his ear, “some of the team…”

“No,” Jacen interrupted and looked at her. “Didn’t I just say-”

“I heard what you said,” Jaina muttered and turned on her heel, walking through the shop, towards the Earth Ninja’s work station.

Jacen growled beneath his breath and walked out the store, shaking his head.

Jaina leaned onto counter and watched Dustin for a moment then cleared her throat, “excuse me?” She asked, “I was wondering if you can help me.”

Dustin didn’t hear her, his head buried under the bike, concentrating on the work he was trying to finish.

“Hello?” Jaina frowned and crossed her arms, “are all the guys in this place ignorant?” She asked, trying to get a response.

“I wasn’t being ignorant,” Dustin replied defensively and turned to look at her. “It’s called being busy, if you must know.”

“Oh really, doing what? Playing with bikes?”

Dustin raised an eyebrow, “did you want something?” He asked, “if not, I have work to do.”

“You know what, forget it,” Jaina spun around. “Idiot,” she muttered as she stormed out the store.

“What was that all about?” Tori asked as she walked over to her best friend.

“I have… No idea,” Dustin said and grinned. “But she was cute.”

“Run Anakin!”

A young blonde haired boy jumped to his feet and ran as fast as he could, following his elder brother, “wait! I can’t keep up!” He took a glanced back to the burning city behind him, his heart missed a beat, knowing he’d never see his home again. In that split second, he tripped, skidding across the ground. He yelped and tried to get up, “wait!”

The elder brother jumped up onto the ship that was hovering, ready to go, he turned back. “Anakin!” He yelled, “get up! They’re coming!”

Anakin stood quickly and yelped, two hands grabbed him, “help!” He called and struggled against the iron grip a soldier had on him.

“Anakin!”

“Anakin..”

A pair of bright blue eyes opened suddenly and blinked rapidly, “what?”

“Anakin?”

Anakin sat up and wiped his forehead, he ran a hand through his short blonde hair and glanced over at the young girl sitting beside his bed, “Lisa?”

“Anakin? What’s wrong?”

“Just a bad dream,” the young boy replied and sat up. Just a bad dream…

“We’ll find you Anakin! I promise!”

Ace chapter! I really loved the scene between Lyall and Jacen.
